AMIDST CRASHING WEDDINGS AND DODGING BRIDEZILLA DRAMA, CHERRY AND VINCENT'S FAKE DATING SCHEME, FUELED BY A MISSION TO HALT A CHILDHOOD FRIEND'S NUPTIALS, HILARIOUSLY SPIRALS INTO A GENUINE ROMANCE.
So, weddings, right? Champagne, questionable dance moves, the existential dread of realizing the past three relationships you’ve been part of were nothing but a waste of time. Fun times. Unless, of course, you're Cherry and Vincent, two friends and colleagues whose job description involves crashing those champagne-soaked celebrations and generally wreaking havoc on happily-ever-afters.
See, Cherry's a whirlwind of witty one-liners and questionable life choices (like falling in love with her childhood best friend, twice). Vincent's the quieter one, more comfortable with reading and bringing his camera around, secretly harboring a massive crush on Cherry that's about as well-hidden as a rogue bridesmaid in a white dress. Their latest mission? Stopping the nuptials of Abigail, a bridezilla with a heart for drama, and Nicholas, a groom who just so happens to be Cherry’s first kiss and her childhood best friend.
As Cherry and Vincent dive headfirst into the world of floral arrangements and seating charts, things get...complicated. Abigail's family is a soap opera waiting to happen, with a nephew who just wants to leave Miami and a mother who's dating the groom's ridiculously charming (and younger!) assistant. Cue the slow-burn tension, the stolen glances, and the realization that maybe, just maybe, meddling in other people's love lives is a terrible idea when you can't even sort out your own.
I got the opportunity to read this as an ARC and I was not disappointed!😍
This book really gives you the ultimate 90’s/00’s romantic movies vibe and I am so here for it! There is the crazy girl villain and the best friend to lovers trope all with a good sense of humor.
What I love most about this story is that it gives us the story after the happy ending, because even good relationships have ups and downs!🙂↕️😌
📚 Rezension - The wedding stoppers - Mariam Cristina📚 4/5⭐️
The Wedding Stoppers by Mariam Cristina is a very enjoyable romance with an intriguing premise. Cherry and Vincent work for a company that stops weddings by providing information that either the bride or the groom needs to know before committing. Cherry and Vincent usually appear at the wedding as a couple and stop the wedding during the ceremony. As the book begins, they have just stopped a wedding and run into Nick, Cherry’s best friend from childhood, with his financée Abigail. Cherry and Vincent are invited to be in Nick and Abigail’s wedding which involves a month in Miami Beach. Cherry knows from Nick that Abigail cheated on him two years ago and she decides to stop this wedding. She pressures Vincent to help and they end up at Abigail’s family mansion in Miami Beach. There are many complications, lots of family drama and the added problem of Vincent being in love with Cherry who seems to still have feelings for Nick. The chapters in the book alternate between Cherry and Vincent, each chapter from their point of view. The story takes surprising turns but eventually things work out happily.
The book is well written and is fun to read. Janet vonWodtke
The Wedding Stoppers is the third book by yhis author that I’ve had the opportunity to ARC read and believe me when I say that Mariam Cristina has done it again!!! She simply does not miss!!
This book is the perfect feel-good, friends to lovers, chaotic romantic comedy that feels like it fell straight off the big screen during the 2000s. Think Wedding Crashers meets My Best Friends Wedding.
From her very first scene, to her very last scene Cherry was a mix of chaotic and hysterical, always keeping you guessing on her next move. From the first time we met Vincent he instantly stole the show from whatever other craziness was happening. His care for the people that he loved made my heart swoon.
I’m an absolute sucker for fake dating and friends to lovers and these two did not disappoint in the slightest! The chemistry and yearning from the get-go made this such an enjoyable read.
Mariam manages to perfectly blend characters and humour with chaos and heavier topics that flows perfectly!!
Thank you Mariam for the opportunity to review your new novel, The Wedding Stoppers.
What a fun trip back to the early 2000’s rom-com writing style, with an unhinged FMC doing the CRAZIEST stunts in order to win her man. Reminiscent of Julia Roberts in ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’, our FMC Cherry, had me absolutely rolling with some of these stunts; not in the least changing the phrases coming out of Madame Tussaud’s wax dummies of the bride and groom.
The fake dating trope, combined with the MMC, Vincent, falling first was so sweet. Their relationship blossomed despite how unhinged Cherry is, and we love that for us unhinged gals!
By the end of the novel, I found myself disconnected from Cherry. Some of her motives were unexplainable and the conclusion didn’t feel authentic. The move to a new storyline with Vincent at the 80% mark, was also a little jarring BUT, gave us a beautiful, family filled ending.
and if you love the 90s / 2000s romcoms, then this book is the perfect one for you. i am absolutely in love with the plot, them wanting to break the couple and falling in love with each other, the girl villain and the obsessed boy who'd do anything for her and they are only fake dating. yes yes yes give me all that. this is so so messy, emotional, cute and fun all at once. cherry is so chaotic and hysterical and funny and so sweet and kind and keeps you guessing for what she is going to do next. and vincent is so kind and helpful and stole my heart amidst all the craziness surrounding him. also a non-wealthy mmc? i love when they do this. i loved how it wasn't just the messiness but they also focused on the yearning, longingness, insecurities and ups and downs of relationships. all the side characters were so amazing. def enjoyed this so muchhhhhhh.
The Wedding Stoppers was such a fun and entertaining read! I was immediately drawn into Cherry's world and her mission to stop her childhood best friend, Nick, from marrying the wrong woman. The concept of professional wedding stoppers was unique, chaotic, and honestly had me laughing more than once.
Cherry character, I couldn't help but root for. Her loyalty, humor, and emotional journey felt genuine throughout the story. Vincent quickly became one of my favorite characters. Beneath his grumpy exterior was someone caring, dependable, and always looking out for Cherry. Their banter and chemistry were some of my favorite parts of the book, and I found myself eagerly waiting for every scene they shared.
Thank you so much to Mariam for the Arc Opportunity!!!💗✨
This book was such a fun and enjoyable read!!! I enjoyed Cherry and Vincent the fun banter between them as their fake dating each other because Cherry wanted to get back at her best friend who she had a crush on for a very, very long time. These two main characters are known as Wedding Stoppers and obviously their job is to stop a wedding from happening by spilling “secrets” that neither the groom or bride to be would have known. Which was very interesting and I was immediately hooked within the first few chapters I tell you!!

Tropes: ✨Fake Dating ✨Friends to Lovers ✨Grumpy x Sunshine ✨Early 2000s RomCom Vibes
Oh my God, I love this book! I already knew I was going to love it because duh, fake dating? But reading it was a different thing. First of, a Thai FMC? A non-wealthy MMC? Love that it's not conventional. And the two as a couple are the cutest. One invites trouble and the other tries his best to contain it. The best. I want to read more of your books!
