Bellevue Bullies #2

Clipped by Love

Rate this book
Things are heating up for the Sinclair boys! With one already in the NHL, Jayden Sinclair is hoping to be next!

This has been the toughest year of my life. I watched my brother go into the draft without me, my mom got divorced, and the weight of my family’s issues is heavy on my shoulders. I feel like it’s my job to fix everything while working my butt off in school and trying to make my game better. I have to go into the draft. It will give my family the support they need, and it will prove that I’m good enough. But to get there, I have to show I can be the best captain for the Bellevue Bullies. The spot is mine—no one can take it. First though, Jude is making me go on a brother’s weekend. Innocent enough, I guess…until I see her. She’s the biggest competitor I’ve ever faced. Not only for my spot but also my heart. It’s hard to ignore someone like Baylor Moore.

I don’t lose. I can’t. My dad has bred me to be the best in anything I do. I am driven, I am smart, and I am going to be the first woman in the National Hockey League. No two ways about it. I’ve worked too hard. I’ve been through too much not to have what I want. I know I can do it. I will make my dad proud, and no one will stand in the way of that. That is, until I let him in. He scares me. He makes me feel. And he could very well be the one person who can make me want more than just to win.

We both have the same goal. Victory. But how do you compete against the person you want to win? It’s not easy. Love isn’t something you can control. It isn’t like a puck that can be handled by a stick. No, it has a mind of its own and does what it wants.

Neither of us saw it coming, and we really don’t know if there is a way to score, especially when you’re being Clipped by Love.

I adore Toni Aleo’s books. She writes sports romance like no other author. When I read Boarded by Love, I met Jude Sinclair and his brothers. I love these Sinclair boys- all three of them! Jayden is my absolute favorite of the bunch. This book made me laugh, made me smile and even gave me a bit of the feels. It was an all around great read.

Jayden Sinclair takes the weight of the world on his shoulders. He is the middle boy of the three. He feels like he needs to support and protect everyone. He’s focused on hockey and his family. That’s all he has time for. He’s not interested in finding a girlfriend. Then Baylor Moore comes along and she isn’t like any woman he’s ever met before. He is completely fascinated.

Baylor is a female hockey player, but she doesn’t play like a female. She’s good enough to hold her own with the boys. She actually plays with the boys in college and has big dreams to be the first female hockey player in the NHL. Her father won the cup back in the day and she’s determined to make him proud. Hockey is her life. She isn’t interested in dating. Then she meets Jayden…

 photo e9f18ca0-548c-4418-9be6-59ab7b8ca681_zps9rrjrlbf.jpg

Jayden and Baylor challenge each other. Jayden is one of the first guys who sees Baylor as a woman and an amazing hockey player. He doesn’t go easy on her, he respects her and likes her. I loved their friendship in the beginning. How each one feels like they can open up to the other little by little. How their friendship and attraction turn into so much more.

Baylor isn’t always the easiest heroine to love. She pushes people away, she is almost too driven and too focused. But she has a good heart. And she has good reasons for being this way. She may be stubborn and bull headed, but she is a good person.

Now Jayden… Jayden is pretty much perfect. He is officially tied with Phillip for my favorite Toni man. Jayden is determined. He’s selfless, loving, kind and considerate. I love that he never gave up on Baylor.

“I’ve known from the beginning that you were different, Baylor. I just need you to know that I am too.”

This story had plenty of steam and touching moments, but what I loved most about it was the humor. I wasn’t expecting it to be so funny, but I seriously laughed out loud more than once while reading this one.

I’m not a huge sports person, but Toni’s books just do it for me. I love these stories. It was great to catch up with a few of the Assassin players, plus Jude and Claire. Jayden was amazing and even though Baylor was a little too stubborn for me, she grew on me by the end and completely won me over. This is a great addition to Toni’s Bellevue Bullies series and I am very much looking forward to the third Sinclair brother, Jace’s book!

3 - 3.5 Winky Wack Wink Stars

Sooooooo, this is me after right now after finishing this book:

description

Also known as, kind of happy...

...kind of not...

...and just plain not sure how to feel about that.

description

Yes, yes, Kermit, color me confused as well.

So before I get in to the things I'm not quite sure about, let me start out with what I do know:

#1 - Toni Aleo is the Bomb.

I have read everything this woman has put out and I feel like her writing just gets better and better with every book.

For serious though, she could crap on some college ruled notebook paper and I'd be like, "Ooooooo, please let me see!"

I LOVE her Assassins Series and I ADORED the first Bellevue Bullies book.

So...

FANGIRL.

FANGIRL.

FANGIRL.

Moving along...

#2 - JAYDEN

Holy hot sex on a stick, Batman, we must activate the Bat Signal and request that Jayden come hither.

What.

A.

Sweetie Pie.

Plus?

I loved Jayden so much, I wanted to pull him right out of this book and away from---

Woah, woah, woah, pump the brakes Val, pump the brakes...

We shall get to that later.

#3 - Jace & Markus

description

These two were such a cute little duo of deliciousness.

Seriously, I just wanted to put them in my pocket and carry them around in perpetuity.

Other than that, the story line was decent - if somewhat slow moving - and the sex and chemistry between Jayden and Baylor was off the charts steamin' hot.

Because that's just how Aleo rolls.

Girl's got mad skills.

Now...***Disclaimer***

For those of you who follow the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" rule and/or fall into the "I have no sense of humor" category?

Cause I'm about to lay down some of my feels.

First and foremost, I would like to say this:

If I knew people who fucking winked as much as these hockey studs do, I would start to think they had a medical condition.

For real though, one of my best buddies at work has Tourette's Syndrome and sometimes he winks his eyes so much you would think he's trying to use his eyelashes as wings and take flight.

He laughs about it and will ask me if he's "Peter Panning" and "flying to Neverland." Which is almost as awesome as the time he randomly spouted "I'm going to Rome bitches" during a work briefing...

Ell - Oh - Effin' - Ellz.

But I digress.

Long story short, there be skulduggerous winking afoot, people.

For serious, these folks winked so much...

What.

A.

[Insert awful word of your choice here].

Seriously, she be like:

A more childishly, bratty, immature whiner masquerading as a grown ass adult I have not met.

Reading a scene with her in it was like watching a toddler throw a tantrum in the cereal aisle.

I could not stand this chick.

And I wanted bad things to happen to her.

If she wasn't whining, throwing a tantrum, acting like a total raving bitch, or making Jayden feel like shit, she was .

I'm sorry.

But if some crazy ass bitch

I mean seriously though, how totally rude and just plain selfish can you be?

By this point in the story, what with my abject hate for she-who-shall-now-be-referred-to-as-the-c$&t-who-stole-my-Jayden, I was barely hanging on to that fourth star.

But after Microphone-Gate?

Sorry, I just didn't like that ending AT ALL.

But anywho!

To each their own, I can totally seeing people loving this ending - and for good reason.

It was just too sticky sweet for me and the rudeness factor - especially after her behavior throughout the book - just made me want to F someone up.

Jayden wants to have a place in the NHL. Baylor wants to be the first girl being drafted to play there.
They were supposed to be two rivals, fighting for the same prize… until they fall in love and everything changes. In a war between loving a person and loving a sport, who will win?

I love books with hockey players so this is always a win for me. Adding that Toni Aleo is probably the best hockey books writer and this is surely a win bet.
Despite being annoyed with both characters at some moments, this was an engaging and steamy reading that hooked me from the beginning.
If you like NA books, with sexy players and steamy moments, this book is a good bet.

FOUR SINCLAIR STARS.

Neither of us saw it coming, and we really don’t know if there is a way to score, especially when you’re being Clipped by Love.

description

You can go ahead and bet your life savings on how excited I was to read this next in line for the Bellevue Bullies series. Nothing could have stopped me from falling deep in love with yet another stunner to add to my Toni Aleo collection. Just the cover alone had my romance book addiction up and interested and what's inside only confirmed my addiction to this author that has, quite frankly had my heart from the word go. 'Clipped by loved' is a lovely new adult book package with plenty of attitude and action on the ice and that's just from the heroine. Never underestimate this author's ability to put romance to paper and her added knowledge of the game on ice made for some fabulous story telling. Jude Sinclair may well have made me fall in love in book one of the series, but I've had to make some serious room for Jayden Sinclair. What he lacks in alpha status he certainly makes up with his larger than life heart and let's face it the fact that he has a chest full of tattoos doesn't harm either. 'Clipped by love' is the best kind of escape that the new adult romance world can offer and I'm as happy as a chocoholic that once again Toni Aleo have proved why she's a favourite author.

What's it all about?
Baylor Moore has only one focus; make it into the NHL draft and make history by joining her male counterparts by being the best of the best in a sport that is dominated by men. Nothing and no one will serve as a distraction to her dream, so it comes as a huge surprise when she can't stop thinking about her fellow team mate Jordan Sinclair. As they fight for their own dreams to come true they have to find a way to let love also find it's place. Follow the story of Baylor and Jayden as they get clipped by love.

description

What did I love?
The writing, the characters, the banter, the sexual tension all of it came together to provide a novel of loveable proportions. Toni Aleo is my favourite author for lots of reasons but her witty banter and instant friendship development in this book knocked my socks off. I was goofy, giddy with excitement reading this book, I honestly loved every chapter (especially the first half of the story telling), these characters won me right over and I applaud Toni Aleo for taking a risk on a different type of heroine. Baylor was a ballsy girl I loved her attitude to go for her dream and not let anything or anyone get in the way. In this story we see the hero chasing after the girl of his dreams and I couldn't have imagined a more perfectly sweet hero for this prickly heroine. I love this spin off series whole heartedly and I'm excited to see some more characters grab some of Toni's writing time.

Why not five?
Trust me there is nothing and no one who can convince me that this author doesn't deserve a top spot as one of my favourite authors. Her writing style suits my romantic needs perfectly and this book is yet another example of why I adore her writing so much. The first 40% of this book had me grinning like a loon I loved the characters and back and forth banter between them. And I was also blown away at how quickly I fell for them as a couple. However, I did feel like the banter and friendship was lost a little in the middle and I missed the excitement of seeing them develop as friends. (I felt like I needed some more time adjusting to them falling for each other). But with all that being said the ending was fantastic, I was sold on them as characters and it totally pulled at my heart stings. All in all I had a fabulous time reading this book and let's face it who wants to argue with a four star rating?

description

Final thoughts ...
I've said it before in my reviews and I'll probably say it a million times more; I'll always navigate towards a sports related romance. There is something about these books that never fail to keep me interested in not only the developing romance but also the sweaty heroes too. To sum up how I felt reading this love soirée I enjoyed this book immensely. I felt 100% committed to the beginning of this book where the banter was at it's most brilliant. The chemistry was Off the charts, and I fell quickly in love with the characters. This is yet another great addition to the 'Aleo collection' and what more can I say? I'm addicted to everything that my favourite author produces. Go grab it sporty romance enthusiasts, you won't regret. Enjoy ... Kisses.

grey divider no background hi

Two individuals.

So different. And yet, so alike.

Driven.Passionate.And unyielding to failure.

Jayden--- the mature, middle Sinclair bro with the weight upon his shoulders.

Baylor--- the only woman on a men’s hockey team with a chip on her shoulder and something to prove.

Both with hopes and dreams of earning the coveted captain’s seat of the Bellevue Bullies and being drafted into the NHL.

But there is catch…. for women like Baylor, no female has ever skated in the National Hockey League. Ever.

And with this male dominated world with not so fond views and animosity of women in their testosterone filled rink, and a brewing love developing between her and Jayden, how will everything turn out?

Can Baylor break the mold and rise above her past to let Jayden into her jaded heart?

Will Jayden follow his big brother’s footsteps and Baylor in her father’s? Will they have their day in the big league?

And even if they were both to make it, how would they make things work?

How can two people, a couple more less, keep a relationship in a tangled web such as this? And can both set a path of their own?

Is this love meant to be? Or is it simply meant to be nipped in the bud? Read and you will find out!

#Wah. I LOVED Jayden Sinclair!! He was by far, the most patient, persistent, optimistic, and alpha of male characters that you can’t help but adore and fall in love with. Not to mention! Make you gals envy Baylor for such a hardworking and responsible young man taking such immense interest in her. Man, did he not give up on her!

As for Baylor... boy, was she a stubborn gal! Sometimes her stubborn personality, her insecurities, and that pride of hers got the best of her and got in the way of things!! I wanted to strangle her at times and knock some sense into her! XD lol

I’m really hoping that Jace’s story is up next, and perhaps, even Markus! Even though he is not a Sinclair bro! I adored him!

Can there be a SinclairXMoore love match in the mix while we're at it?!

Pretty please?!

One-click this one ladies!! You will definitely be 'clipped' by this book of a gem! ♥

Shannon's Thoughts
Toni Aleo has outdone herself with CLIPPED BY LOVE.  I didn't think any character could ever surpass Shea Adler, but Jayden Sinclair did exactly that.

The second book in the Bellevue Bullies series focuses on middle Sinclair brother Jayden, as he focuses on his final year of college hockey.  He's determined to be the team's captain, the lead them through to the NCAA championship and to enter high in the NHL draft.  It's ambitious, but Jayden is determined to prove that he deserves to be in the NHL and to make sure his mother is taken care.  What Jayden didn't plan on is Baylor Moore.

Baylor is a woman with quite a few chips on her shoulder.  She's the only female hockey player in the men's collegiate league.  She's good enough, to the point she's better than most of the men she plays against, but she pays the price forcing her to develop a skin that is so tough it's almost impenetrable.  Then there's her belief that the only person that will ever love her is her dad.  The belief is so strong that she erects a wall around her so that no one can ever get close.  But when she gets to Bellevue, where her father is the new head coach, she discovers what is means to open herself up to friendship and to love.

I loved Baylor and Jayden.  They reminded me of a younger Ellie and Shea.  Jayden was open to a relationship with Baylor and would do just about anything to be with her, including hiding their relationship.  But he was good for Baylor.  He taught her how to open up, how to love and how to trust people with her heart.  Baylor didn't always have faith in herself or her relationship with Jayden, but he did.  He'd fight for her, even when he was so pissed at her he couldn't be with her.  He knew, she was it.

Baylor was harder to warm up to, just because Toni Aleo did an awesome job of making the wall Baylor built around herself almost visible to readers.  But as Jayden chipped away at Baylor, it became easier and easier to like her.  When she resorted to her old self, as a reader I understood why and didn't hold it against her.  In the end, I was pulling for her to step outside her comfort zone and go after what her heart wanted.

In my opinion, this is the best book Toni Aleo's written.  It has all the elements that make it a Toni Aleo book, but an added emotional element to these characters that made me fall hard for them.  I can't wait to see what Toni has coming next for this series.

I loved Jayden, but I wasn't really a huge fan of Baylor. She had her good moments, but she also had a lot of annoying moments.

I have to admit, I wasn't as excited to hear that Baylor was a fellow hockey player, but it really worked out in the end.

Jayden and Baylor were not like Jude and Claire, from the last book. Where as Jude and Claire were had a lot of PDA and said lots of cavity-sweet stuff to each other, Jayden and Baylor really had to work for their relationship to work.

Oh yeah and it was weird seeing that Skylar was the "competition" for Baylor in this book because in the last book she was one of Claire's closest friends.

I loved Jace, and can't wait to read his book, hopefully it's his next. I really have no idea who he'll be paired up with. Since this book he was hooking up with one of Baylor's best friend.

This was an interesting book. Much like Jayden I found myself frustrated with Baylor for most of the book. I really liked that Baylor was so great in hockey and knew it, loved her relationship with her dad, but hated how she processed her feelings. Yes, it was due to her past, but there were times I wanted to reach into the book and slap her silly. I hated how there were a couple of times that she hurt Jayden with her words, both those that were said and those that were unsaid.

I did love how most of the team came to team Baylor, how they protected her and stood up for her. The unlikely trio of Markus, Jace and Baylor had me laughing.

I loved how this one ended, loved that Baylor finally put herself out there for Jayden and loved that Baylor's dream came true.

Ok so possibly another hit and miss author for me.

It's gone from the sickly sweetness of Jude and Claire to the disgustingly awful, nasty, condescending, selfish cow of a young girl named Baylor. Oh my gosh I wanted to poke out my eyes with how nasty of an attitude she had. The backwards and forwards nonsense was ridiculous with her, the middle school mentality she had was horrible as well. It's a shame though cause I semi liked Jude and I hate when an author doesn't like her characters enough to make the fall for someone reasonable. I mean no one is saying that the girl had to be a clingy, whiney girl but she didn't have to be disgusting b**ch of a girl either.

I enjoyed this book, largely because Baylor reminded me of Ilona Maher (Team USA rugby player)! I know the book was written long before Ilona went pro, but picturing her as Baylor was still fun—especially since both share the signature red lipstick they wear while competing.

Baylor is the only female on an all-male college hockey team, coached by her dad.

This is the second book in the Bellevue Bullies series. The first book was about Jude Sinclair and Claire Anderson. And this one is about Jayden, Jude's younger brother and the coaches daughter Baylor Moore.

I liked that the girl is playing hockey on the same team as Jayden, a college division I Hockey team. And Baylor wants to be the first woman playing in the NHL. I liked the story, because both characters had to grow and find their way. There were some great side characters too.

I think this story could have been a little shorter, but we had to read this story from summer break to NHL draft.

5 Hot Hockey Player Stars

Can I just say upfront that Toni Aleo is a 1-Click author for me. I really enjoy her style of writing and her stories just capture my attention from the first page. Sometimes I think that if an author is a firm favourite then your expectations of them are a lot higher. The Assassins is a brilliant series and the first spin off Boarded By Love was just as good. So, this book also has a strong storyline, gorgeous hockey hotties and manages to draw you into the game of hockey without losing your attention with too much sporty info. The hockey scenes are fast paced and exciting, and as someone who has never watched a match before I am now quite addicted. Me Aleo clearly has an undying love of the sport. It's contagious!
The thing about this book that surprised me, was that I thought she took a real chance on writing the heroine, Baylor, the way she did. Baylor is alpha. She is driven, single minded and closed off emotionally. I thought it was pretty ballsy to write a character that could potentially alienate herself from the reader because of her alpha tendencies whilst Jayden , the hero, is more demonstratively sensitive and personable. Yet, I really loved both of them. Ms Aleo always writes about strong women but there is something unique about Baylor. She has such a vulnerability that's hidden by a truly prickly exterior. Jayden is relentless in cracking the wall around her heart. I winced when he says something to her near the beginning of the story. Then a couple of things happened where I wanted to slap him for Baylor but ultimately, these two are made for each other. Lots of humour, hockey action and seriously HOT CHEMISTRY. Also, the secondary characters round it all out perfectly. Markus and Jace are brilliant. Good to see Jude, Claire, Elli, Shea and Phillip too. Ultimately, it's a beautiful love story of two soul mates. 5 stars are just not enough.

What’s a discovery !!
Liked this story , something different ..something fresh
Not a 5stars in my opinions because something I’d have loved gone different or in J case with much more balls and less “doormat” , but really nice development
Give it a read ! I have to continue with the other book in this series ...

4.5 stars!!

Every time I read another Toni Aleo book, it just reminds me why I think she is the queen of sport romance!

I hated that real-life got in the way of me reading this so much but every time I got to read it, I was completely hooked and loving every minute of it. Yes, the heroine isn't completely likable and is in fact kind of hard to love but I actually grew to love her for it. Jayden is just pure book boyfriend material and one of my favorite from the author for sure.

I can't believe there's only one more book in this series, it's going to kill me to let this series go but I'm excited to see who Jace will end up with. Hopefully not Delany though *just saying*.

I wished I had listen to these in the order they were written. Because I finished the Assassin series then I started this one and I feel like I just knew them already and I wasn’t really interested in going back in time.

I understand that these are side players and their stories are not in the NHL yet but I am just sad I didn’t listen before they were if that makes any sense at all.

Because I didn’t really like their story until 3/4th the way through, I almost stopped listening because I was just not into it.

I am glad overall that I finished because it did give context to the later stories. And the first girl in the NHL awesome.

So this review is really more about me than the story.

I enjoyed the narration soooo much!!

Fans of Toni Aleo will want to dive head first into Clipped by Love, the latest release in her Bellevue Bullies series.

Jayden Sinclair (brother of Jude from Boarded by Love) has his eye set on the prize, that prize being to have an awesome season on the ice for the Bellevue Bullies and to go into the NHL draft post season. This plan didn't include a girlfriend, but to quote the poet Robert Burns, "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry".

Enter Baylor Moore.

Baylor is a great hockey player, make that the best and she will be the first female to play in the NHL. She has the skills, drive and determination to make that happen. She's had her heart broken in the past and she knows she needs to focus on her game, not her love life, but after an unforgettable encounter with Jayden while on break at the beach, an encounter that left her feeling rejected, she is even more focused on her goal... then her dad, is appointed to coach the Belleview Bullies and her summer break, almost fling is now her teammate..

Fireworks erupt- great hockey is played and two people with similar yet different goals find that there may be something better than just playing the game they love, maybe loving someone they play with isn't such a bad thing...

Clipped by Love is a sexy, fun read! If you are having Jude withdrawal you will get to spend some time with him and Claire from Boarded by Love and to top it off a guest appearance by my favorite Toni Aleo couple ever, Ellie and Shea from Taking Shots. Clipped by Love is a great marriage of new adult and sports romance and it is definitely one for my keeper shelf! I can't wait for more from this series!

I can't even begin to put into words how this book made me feel. My reviews tend to be pretty straightforward, so here goes:

READ THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY!!

Okay, maybe a bit more.

I almost wish I was in college again so that I can relive the craziness. Ms. Aleo does a phenomenal job of not only describing the experience of being in school, but also the ups and downs when you have no control over your emotions or the person who evokes them.

Jayden's and Baylor's relationship is overpowering from the start and never has a dull moment. It seemed almost effortless for Ms. Aleo to switch from the POV of Jayden to Baylor and back again. Being able to slip into their heads (and hearts) truly made me feel as though I was in the story rather than an observer.

Don't fret if you haven't read Boarded by Love (though you really should!!) - Jayden's and Baylor's story can certainly be read as a standalone. And don't think that you have to be a hockey fan (though, again, you should be!)

But you should be concerned if you miss out on such a strong and beautiful story!!!

As I read this book, I couldn't keep from getting frustrated with Baylor. She was such a hard nut to crack. I was beginning to wonder how this story was ever gonna get to the HEA and it finally did. Loved it!

Jayden & Baylor have just become one of my favorite couples!! Toni Aleo is knocking this Bellevue Bullies series thru the net with book 2! Clipped By Love brings even more awesome from the Sinclair Boys!! I thought no one could be better than Jude after reading Boarded by Love last year, because he & Claire were just magic but Jayden Sinclair & Baylor Moore have chemistry for days from the first look they each have of the other!! The sexual tension, the animosity, the need to best the other and the need that they have for the other were just perfection for me!! I loved the way that Baylor gave just as good as she could take and when Jayden says that she is a "hybrid", well that was just the best description! Baylor is strong, she is beautiful, she is a hockey player thru and thru; but she's also shy and unsure and a bit awkward socially and completely emotionally insecure. As much as she doesn't want to be vulnerable, she is with Jayden and she hates it and loves it at the same time because he makes her feel safe and cared for like a girl! Jayden loves all her messy parts and I love when he calls her a beautiful disaster, because she is and well he is too in a way. Jayden has always felt like he is responsible for those he loves, especially his family and he has taken a lot onto his shoulders. He and Baylor get each other in a way that no one has ever gotten the other before. He knows that Baylor is something special and something that he needs, and he knows that it's not going to be easy. Watching these two fight for what they want and learn to be what the other needs was everything and more!!

Clipped by Love was EVERYTHING and oh so much more! It was lots of humor between the Sinclair brothers (Jude, Jayden and Jace are hilarious together!), the teammates that become real friends for Baylor (Markus is the best) as well as the only other friends she has in Delanie & Mandie (those two are a mess!). It was lots of competition and proving who is the best but finding that as a team they are even better. It was the sexual tension and learning to find out what real love looks and feels like. It was learning to trust, not only the people that matter the most, but also trust in themselves. It was learning to have faith and when to let go and just be. Plus getting sneaks at some of my past faves at Jude & Claire's wedding, hello Phillip & Reese and Elli & Shea!! Toni Aleo did her fans proud as always!! Loved it so much!!

Clipped by Love (Bellevue Bullies #2) by Toni Aleo Jayden is expected to be the next Sinclair brother to be drafter in the NHL. He is set on focusing on his goal. Then he meets his biggest competition, Baylor Moore, who is hopping to be the first woman drafter into the NHL.

I loved this story! Toni Aleo never ceases to amaze me. Just when I think that her stories cannot get any better she writes another one.

Baylor is a fantastic heroine. I love that she doesn’t give up and sets high goals for herself. Her father and coach won the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins and forsake his hockey career to raise her after her mother left them when she was a newborn. She is set on making her father proud. She is stubborn to a fault.

Jayden is a great guy and brother. He is loyal and responsible. He looks out for those that he considers his.

I appreciated how Jaden and Baylor challenged each other. I love that Jaden considers Baylor his hockey twin.

I was thrilled that some of the Assassin series characters make an appearance in this book. I was also excited to get an update on the lives of Jayden’s older brother Jude and Claire.

I think the plot was very realistic because in 1992 Manon Rheaume became the first woman to play in an NHL exhibition game as a goalie for the Tampa Bay Lightning versus the St. Louis Blues. Plus, the NHL and USA Hockey have been actively promoting the sport to young female hockey players. My son plays travel hockey. We have seen many girls that have given the boys a run for their money. It is only a matter of time until someone tries for the draft.

Toni Aleo wrote another phenomenal book. She is very convincing. The individuals have their ups and downs. They show tremendous growth. She does an amazing job making you fall in love with the characters in the series. I ended up with a serious book hangover from not being able to put this one down and get some sleep. It was well worth it.

If you love sports romances and have not tried the Bellevue Bullies or Assassins Series you need to give them a shot. You will not be disappointed.

"Jayden is my Cup. My greatest win. And I know no one can take me away from me."

I didn't know I was going to feel going into this but I enjoyed it. It was so interesting having Baylor as a female hockey player in what is a predominantly (especially in the male leagues) and seeing what that was like for her and how she had to fight to be respected. And Jayden was really sweet and I liked him.

I liked the characters and the plot was fun with them being team mates. I think what brought this down was the *minor spoiler* almost sexual assault that felt like it was used to push the story along more which I don't love *end of spoiler* but beside that I did like it.

This book almost made me more excited for the third one because Jace was funny and his friendship with Baylor was cute + their bestie Markus too.

Really enjoyed this second book in the Bellevue Bullies series, a spin off of the Assassins series. Jayden and Baylor are great characters and there is some very moving and emotional writing here. While the whole locker room thing is preposterous as not only would no school do that due to liability issues it is an idiotic premise in the days of Title IX, as well as the amped up concerns about sexual harassment and assault on college campuses. It really takes away from the enjoyment of the book though I get the author wanting to use the dynamic as a plot device. It was just a bit hard for me to suspend disbelief that much.

I do enjoy the series and the way these characters have been crafted and I’m looking forward the the third and final book in this series.

I was very lukewarm about book #1 in this series so was very pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed book #2 so much. I thought Jayden was so sweet and while Baylor was at times annoying with her refusal to acknowledge her feelings, I sort of understood why at the same time. Trigger warning:

I'm excited to read Jace's book next! I found him entirely annoying at the very beginning of this book, but the friendship he eventually develops with Baylor endeared him to me.
