Thea Weaver's past is far behind her, or so she thought.

When letters from her ex-husband start showing up on her doorstep, the small town life she just settled in to threatens to become a distant memory.

As the oldest of five girls, and her parents no longer around, she feels it’s her responsibility to take care of them, and she isn’t about to let her past ruin their futures.

So she decides to enlist the help of local cowboy and single father, Logan Cash.

Logan’s interest in Thea has occupied his mind for years.

But when she reaches out for help, he finds himself in a situation where he could grow closer to the woman who has rarely drifted far from his thoughts, and take care of her in the process.

I was so excited to dive into Logan's story because he intrigued me in book one! This man is a loyal and loving as they come. At the age of 19 he found out he was a father and has been raising his daughter ever since. He doesn't bring women around her and honestly has not dated much. That all changes when the one woman he has crushed on for years needs his help. Of course being the protector that he is, there was no way he was turning Thea down.

Thea has spent the last few years building a new life for herself and her sisters. She keeps to herself and focuses on running her bar/restaurant. Logan Cash doesn't go unnoticed by her but she carries deep hurt and doesn't trust easily. I am willing to bet she didn't expect for him to be as perfect as he is when she approached him about helping her. It isn't long before her feelings for him get closer and closer to the surface and she finds herself falling not only for him but his teenage daughter too.

I love these two together. This is a slow burn that will keep you on the edge of your seat because they are just that good together. It's the little things that Logan does for Thea here and there throughout the story. He is a man of actions, not just words. The protectiveness he has for her is exactly what she deserves. She deserves that level of love and devotion. I won't lie....at a certain point in the story the author had me a ball of nerves because I knew something was going to happen but I didn't know exactly what or when and it was driving me crazy because I just wanted to get it over with so I could see these two get their HEA!!

A handful of new characters popped up in this book and I only going to hope that all of the Cash brothers will be getting their lady loves in this series!!!

I just finished Break the Barrier by J.S. Wood, book 2 in the Three Rivers Trevors Ranch series.
This one follows Thea, who has been trying to leave her troubled past behind and build a quiet life for herself and her sisters, until her ex-husband starts sending letters and threatens to disrupt everything she's worked so hard to build. She turns to Logan, a local cowboy and single dad, for help, and their fake dating arrangement quickly becomes something neither of them really expected.

This was such an easy book to get into. The pacing was good throughout and I soon found myself completely entrenched in the town and everything happening between Thea and Logan. Between the two of them there are A LOT of siblings, and with another three books planned for the series, I'm already curious to see if any of them are going to become the love interests in the books to come.

Thea is broken, guarded and a little reclusive after everything she's been through over the last few years. She's poured all of her energy into the bar and looking out for her sisters, so letting anyone get close to her isn't exactly high on her list. And then there's Logan, who is honestly the most adorable golden retriever MMC. He found himself a father at 19 and has completely committed himself to being there for his daughter Lue, who is now 14. In Logan's mind, that means putting any kind of relationship for himself to one side so he doesn't confuse her. Until Thea comes along. Their chance to fake date and help Thea out obviously becomes a whole lot more than either of them expected, and I really loved watching their relationship develop.

This was actually my first cowboy romance and I really enjoyed it. I didn't realise going into it that it was closed-door spice, which I'm definitely not used to reading. But what I will say is that I often find when a book is closed door, the author has to rely so much more on the tension and angst, and that is something J.S. Wood absolutely nailed. There was so much tension between these two and I actually really enjoyed it. I also really liked the storyline. It was a little different from what I was expecting and definitely edgier than I anticipated. I actually appreciated when things took a slightly darker turn because it gave the story a bit more depth. One of my favourite parts was the family dynamic between Logan and Lue. Watching Thea slowly become part of their little circle felt so natural and completely won me over. And obviously the Friday night dance becoming their little tradition was just lovely. I really loved so many elements of this story because it felt realistic. From the things said in the heat of the moment, to the stubbornness we find ourselves in when we're hurt or scorned, so much of it felt very relatable.

Brill. Loved it. I'll definitely be continuing with the series and I'm really curious to see where it goes next. Definitely recommend

Thea and Logan were two friends who had secretly been smitten with each other since she came into town. They just didn't realize they would one day make each others dreams come true.

Thea is a woman with a huge heart that loves and loves hard. She has been taking care of her sister's since her parents passed away and she wouldn't have it any other way. But she goes full protector mode when she knows some jackhole from the past decides to mess with everything.

She turns to the one person she trusts, and falls for him. How could you not when he is literally saving your bacon? Not to mention he is very easy on the eyes, he's a cowboy and has a spunky but precious 14 year old daughter. I was living for the relationship she had built with Luella. She stepped into a place that Lue needed and I know Thea loved.

Logan was such a gentleman! I fell for him when he showed up with his sweet self and showed her how a real man should have treated her from the very beginning. I swooped even harder when he would show up on Fridays to dance with her and handed her a single rose 🌹.

Logan was the man who would literally do anything and everything for his woman and he DID IT!! He turned his world on its side to make sure that he brought her home safe.

🔥 Let's Talk About Sex Baby 🥵: 🌶️.5/5

This book has little spice. No actual on page sex. Insertion but nothing more than that. If you came for spice, baby you came to the wrong book!

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿

Some books just have a way of making you feel so much, and Break the Barrier was such a sweet and emotional cowboy romance for me. I went into this story knowing I would probably enjoy the fake marriage trope, but I ended up loving so much more than that because of the connection between Logan and Thea, the way their relationship slowly grew, and how much they came to mean to each other.

Thea has been through so much, and my heart hurt for her knowing how much she had to carry on her own while trying to protect her sisters and the life they had built together. I could understand why she struggled to let someone in, especially after everything she had experienced in her past, and I loved seeing her slowly realize that she didn't always have to be the strong one or handle everything by herself. She deserved to feel safe, loved, and cared for, and seeing her begin to believe that again was one of my favorite parts of her story.

And Logan, y'all this man! I absolutely loved how protective and caring he was toward Thea, but what made me love him even more was that his feelings for her went so much deeper than simply wanting to keep her safe. He genuinely cared about her, wanted to be there for her, and was willing to stand beside her when things got difficult, even when she struggled to let him in. I especially loved seeing his softer side with his daughter, Luella, because the way he showed up for her made me appreciate him even more, and those little family moments made the story feel extra special to me.

The romance was another favorite of mine because I loved watching their friendship turn into something more, especially when Logan had feelings for Thea long before she was ready to admit what was growing between them. The fake marriage gave them a reason to spend more time together, but the little moments, the caring gestures, the teasing, and the way they started to feel like a real family were that really got me. I found myself smiling at their interactions because there was so much tenderness underneath all the tension, and I loved how Logan wanted Thea to understand that she could trust him and that she didn't have to face everything alone anymore.

Of course, there are some heavier moments in this story, especially with Thea's past and the danger that follows her, and I definitely felt the emotional weight of everything she was going through. There were moments when I just wanted to reach through the pages and remind her that she deserved so much better, and I appreciated that her healing was an important part of her journey rather than something that could simply be fixed overnight.

I also enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and the people surrounding Logan and Thea, because the family connections and the feeling of having people who genuinely care about you added something lovely to their story. I loved seeing Thea slowly become more comfortable with the idea of being part of Logan and Luella's lives, and those moments made me smile just as much as the romantic ones.

This was such a sweet romance! Thea and Logan were an unforgettable couple. Thea moved to Acton, Colorado with a few of her sisters in search of a fresh start. With such a difficult history and a muddled past Thea is guarded and hard working. But when her past threatens to take everything her and her sisters have worked hard to build, she reaches out to a local cowboy for help. Her instincts on Logan Cash were spot on. He's a good man, through and through. And he's secretly been in love with her for the last few years since she's moved to town. So, when she asked if he would fake marry her, he jumped on the opportunity. Logan is a stand-up dude, Single Girl Dad, Rancher/Cowboy the whole nine. The way he loved Thea through the whole book and at her pace was truly beautiful. When she messed up, he made her grovel and made her put in the work which I liked. It's different than what you usually get in a book. Thea's relationship with Logan's Daughter Lu was precious and I really enjoyed her relationship with Logan's mom Didi too!

This book was different in my usual reads additionally by being closed door. There were spicy scenes, but nothing happened on page. The suspense portion of the book took me by surprise and again to my surprise it was rather graphic and on page. So, if you're sensitive to themes such as kidnapping/abuse you may want to check the authors website for more information.

I do wish that the author was more specific in wrapping up the loose ends with the book. Without giving the ending away too much,

Overall, this story was primarily character driven, while still having a lot to offer in the way of plot. I would read another book by this author and would recommend this book to friends who like the following tropes:
💕Single Dad
🏇🏻Fake Dating
💕Small Town
🏇🏻Cowboy Romance
💕Suspense
🏇🏻Friends to Lovers
💕Found Family

Sir, that was supposed to be a fake marriage. Explain the feelings.

4 ⭐️ | 2 🌶️

A cowboy who’s been quietly falling for his best friend, a marriage of convenience, and a woman who’s used to carrying everyone else? Yes, please. Someone pour me a drink. We have feelings to discuss.

Break the Barrier, the second instalment in JS Wood’s Three Rivers Trevors Ranch series, brings plenty of sweetness, a little heat, and a found family I wanted to pull up a chair and join.

Thea has spent so much of her life being the person everyone else can depend on. After raising her sisters and pouring herself into their fresh start, letting someone take care of her comes with a lot more risk than saying “I do.” There’s something deeply touching about watching a woman so accustomed to holding everything together begin to make room for someone beside her.

And Logan? That man did not need time to consult his calendar when the opportunity to become her husband appeared. 🤭 Beneath the cowboy appeal is a devoted single dad who already cares deeply for Thea, and that existing friendship gives their growing relationship such a lovely tenderness. The attraction is there, but so is the affection and that combination gets me every time.

The slow burn is sweet, with enough heat to make things interesting without setting the whole ranch on fire. But the found family? Absolutely exquisite. Those bonds gave this story so much warmth and made its heart feel bigger than the central romance.

My hesitation is that it did feel messy at times. I enjoyed the individual elements, but they didn’t always come together as smoothly as I wanted. I could love these characters and still wish their story felt more cohesive.

Even so, there’s plenty here to fall for: friendship turning into something deeper, the vulnerability of learning to trust, and a cowboy making a very convincing case for catching feelings.

Thank you to Hambright PR for the e-ARC, and congratulations to JS Wood on the November 6th release!

Happy release day @authorjswood ! I quite literally just finished my arc, and I absolutely loved this book!

Break the Barrier is a single dad, fake dating, friends to lovers, cowboy, romantic suspense following Thea and Logan.

I don’t even know where to begin with how much I loved and related to Thea! The way she’s been so heartbroken too many times in her life, to where she hates having any hope for anything to work out in her favor is something I struggle with every day. I completely understood why she was so scared to fall in love with Logan, how she struggled so much with that little negative voice in our heads telling us that we’ll only screw everything up if we fall too hard. I really loved how his love for her allowed her to heal, giving her back her self-confidence enough to do what she wants to do when she wants to do it, not caring what other people think about those decisions. Like Thea, I think if I experienced real love just once, I would be afraid of anything life throws at me after that.

New book husband alert!! Seriously, I need everyone to fall in love with Logan just as much as I did. When it comes to Thea, he wants nothing more than to give her the world, and he’s patient enough to wait for her to trust him to do exactly that. I loved how once they’re together, he immediately wants everyone to know that she’s his. While at the same time, he’s so understanding and patient with her as they continue to grow in their relationship. Once he knows Thea is his soulmate, he never waivers in that belief. The thought of not being together causes him physical pain, and he would do anything to make sure she feels safe and loved every day that they’re together.

Thank you to @authorjswood and @theauthor.agency for my arc, I had such a wonderful time with this romance!

Be sure to pick this up in KU now!💗

Thea is ready for a new start, and Cash is ready to help; hopefully, they will make it together!

Break the Barrier by J.S. Wood is a compelling contemporary Western romance that intertwines themes of resilience, love, and redemption. Set against the backdrop of the small town of Acton, Colorado, the story follows Thea Weaver, a fiercely independent woman determined to protect her sisters and escape a dangerous past. Running her bar, Bottle Grounds, has become her haven, but when her ex-husband's shadow looms once more, she realizes she cannot face this threat alone. Enter Logan Cash, a steadfast single father and rancher, who agrees to a fake marriage arrangement to safeguard Thea's life and business. What begins as a pragmatic solution soon evolves into something deeper as shared secrets and late-night rides bring them closer.

The slow-burn romance between Thea and Logan is beautifully crafted, offering a balance of emotional depth and heartwarming moments. The narrative captures the charm of small-town life while weaving in suspense as Thea's past closes in. Logan's unwavering support and Thea's journey to trust and love again make for an engaging read, packed with heartfelt interactions and a swoon-worthy cowboy hero. Fans of the "fake marriage" trope and emotionally driven storytelling will find this book a delightful addition to their shelves. This book is a fascinating read that you won't want to miss! I had a really good time reading this book. It was easy to get into, and the story had a really nice flow.

Thea and Logan are best fiends with some baggage. She has an ex-husband who can't let her go and brings nothing but trouble, while he is a single dad whose world turned upside down when he was only 19 and was left to raise a baby on his own.

So, when Thea ask for help because her past in catching up with her current life, Longan is more than eager to step up and maybe use this opportunity to act on his crush.

I have to say, Logan was my favorite part of this book. Yes, there is an amazing family full of sibilngs and a great circle of friends. His daughter, Lue, is a great kid who plays an important role in his new relationship, but this man is simply golden retriever perfection. He's waited long enough, so there is no wasting time. He shows up, knows what he want, and takes action in a way that turns me into a puddle!

Another thing that really stood out to me was how well this story portrays human flaws and emotions. Letting fear take over your ability to think straight? - check
A somewhat twisted sense of protection, burden, and guilt? - check check check
Lashing out with hurtful words because your own feelings are hurt? - check
And finally, forgiveness and moving forward take time. One "I'm sorry" doesn't cut it when you need more than the moment to heal and learn how to trust again.

This book has a bit of everything. Complex and beautiful family dynamics, a cute romance, suspenseful drama, and just enough of spice to leave some things to the imagination.

I was lucky enough read ARC of this book as a buddy read with my friend, and we both had a great time!

BREAK THE BARRIER by JS Wood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Break The Barrier is second (#2) book in the THREE RIVERS TREVORS RANCH series.

When Thea Weaver’s ex starts sending her threatening letters, she reaches out to single dad Logan Cash for help. She thought moving to a small town with her sisters would keep them and their business safe but her unorthodox request to Logan is her only hope.

As the pair spend time together they grow closer, but when the threat arrives on their doorstep Logan realises he has to risk everything to keep the woman he’s falling for safe.

——————————

I’m thoroughly enjoying this great series about the inhabitants of Three Rivers Trevor’s Ranch. With great characters and addictive storylines.

Both MCs are relatable and the chemistry between them believable.
After losing her parents Thea has looked out for her sisters and is determined to keep their business in the family. She’s reserved and has been focused on her family for so long, forgoing her own happiness. She finds it hard to rely on anyone but herself.

Single dad and cowboy Logan has had his eye on Thea since she moved to town. When he realises the predicament she’s in he quickly steps up to support her in anyway he can. I really liked the way he turned up every Friday for a dance. #swoon.

This was a closed door, sweet romance with all the feels and I recommend you giving this series a shot.

I read an ebook version of this book. With around 320 pages, a delightful couples cover and good editing. This book releases on November 6th.

With thanks to JS Wood and Hambright for the opportunity to read an early copy of this book. All comments are my own honest, unbiased opinion.

Three Rivers Trevors Ranch: Logan & Thea

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

A good fake-to-forever story is hard to beat, and this one ticks so many boxes! Give me a cowboy who’s been pining for years, a protective MMC, a heart-of-gold MFC, and all the small-town gossip and hijinks you could ever want or need.

Logan Cash is DOWN BAD, and honestly, I was here for every minute of it! A single dad who knows what he wants, a woman who’s been on his mind for years, and the chance to finally get closer to her? Yes, please!
Thea has so much on her shoulders. As the oldest of five girls, she’s spent years putting her siblings first, and when her past comes knocking, she’s determined not to let it destroy the life she’s worked so hard to build. Her decision to enlist Logan’s help sets things in motion, and what starts as a practical solution soon becomes so much more.

I loved seeing Logan’s feelings for Thea come to the surface and watching him show just how far he’s willing to go for her. He’s the kind of protective, devoted hero who makes you want to hug him and cheer him on! And Thea? She has such a big heart, even when fear and past hurts threaten to get in the way.

We’ve got a secret marriage, years of pining, forced proximity, protective cowboy goodness, and a man who is more than happy to step up and be the hero when Thea needs him most. Add in the danger and suspense surrounding her past, and there’s plenty to keep you turning those pages.

A great trip to Three Rivers Trevors Ranch! If you love small-town romance, single dads, cowboys, years of pining, fake relationships that turn into forever, and a hero who is absolutely gone for his girl, this one is well worth the read.

Heart-wrenching, emotional, memorable, riveting, and a page-tuner are just some words I would use to describe Break the Barrier. I was drawn in right from the start by the characters and storyline. Small-town, single dad, best friends to lovers and a secret marriage is the type of book that I will never pass up and I am glad I read this book. The way that Ms. Wood writes with such detail and emotion will have you riding an emotional rollercoaster and feeling like you are a part of the story.
Ms. Wood gives us two souls who have had a hard time in life. Thea, Dorthy, has been responsible for her four younger sisters since her parents passed away. Now she is trying to get her life back on track after her dangerous marriage ended. Then we have Logan Cash, the sexy, single dad cowboy who has feelings for Thea but they are under the surface. When she approached him with an offer, there was no way that he would say no. Here is where we see how sweet and caring Logan is and how Thea seems to be his world after his teenage daughter, Lue. Secrets are kept and feelings bloom but the danger is just around the corner. Thea is too stubborn to see that doing things on her own isn't the best even though the thought behind why she did what she did was understandable.
Logan was her knight in shining armor even though she felt she didn't need one.
We all have that one person who holds us, tells us that everything will be ok and gives us their undying love and Logan was just that person for Thea.

I absolutely loved Break the Barrier from the very first chapter. Logan and Thea had me hooked immediately, especially knowing they both have feelings for each other while desperately trying not to risk their friendship. Logan's quiet devotion and the fact that he's the only one who calls her Dorothea made every interaction between them even sweeter.

The banter in this book was one of my favourite parts. Between Logan and Thea's chemistry, the sibling teasing from both the Cash brothers and the Weaver sisters, and Annmarie's habit of calling Thea out when she needed it, the relationships felt genuine, warm, and entertaining. The family dynamics added so much humour and heart to the story.

I also loved the tension created by Thea's past relationship. It gave their journey the emotional depth needed to make their eventual relationship feel earned. Watching them dance around their feelings was both frustrating and adorable, and I may have squealed when they finally admitted how they felt.

The original plan falling apart almost immediately had me laughing, and from that point on I couldn't put the book down. Logan's patience, Thea's stubbornness, and their undeniable connection made them such a wonderful couple to root for.

The ending was perfect, and the bonus epilogue left me grinning. Seeing a glimpse of their future while realising they're still just as stubborn as ever was the perfect way to wrap up their story. Now I'm already desperate for the next book in the series.

Thea Weaver found her freedom and a new life she's very proud of in Acton, Colorado but her past threatens to take it all away... and that cannot happen. Her ex-husband cannot win again...

This heartfelt slow burn friends to more romance took me completely by surprise... in all the best of ways. It's perfectly penned words and well drawn characters captured my attention and heart almost immediately. Thea was a force of nature, she exuded strength, knowing she could do almost anything on her own, but was also not too proud to ask for help when danger came knocking.

Lucky for her she had a very capable and handsome cowboy ready to step in and play the part she needed him to play. As well as, be the perfect partner for her as she faced her toughest battle yet. I loved watching these two go from just friends to being something more, their relationship and "the fall" was authentic and very touching. They had my heart in their hands the whole way through.

I loved everything about this read, the push and pull, watching them build a relationship on trust and reliance, and create a future neither thought possible. It was such a beautiful and emotionally charged love story, one I won't soon forget. This is by far the most impressive first read that I have read this year, I give it all the stars!! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

This book was absolutely amazing! I knew I was going to love Thea and Logan, but I didn’t realize I was going to love them this much!

As the oldest siblings they have both taken on a lot when it comes to taking care of their siblings and strained relationships with some of them. So they actually have a lot more in common than I realized at first.

Logan was absolutely hilarious especially some of the times he was dealing with his daughter growing up on him. I loved that even though Thea tried to build walls and keep all the people out, Logan and Lue still managed to become some of the most important people to her, one breakfast or play practice at a time. Logan has been head over heels for her since before she ever gave him a chance. He was just waiting for her to catch up.

This book is a slow burn all the way, but then the last 20% has so much packed into that I almost had to read it twice just to make sure I didn’t miss anything! I secretly would love it if Thea’s sisters ended up with Logan’s brothers. I haven’t read a single thing so far that hints at that and I know whenever I read the rest of this series whatever pairings she has planned will absolutely be perfect….but if we get to find out the rest of her sisters and his brother’s HEAs I will be a very happy girl! 😂

J.S. Wood has done it again and made me fall in love with another book! I am absolutely obsessed with Break the Barrier. From the first chapter to the last I felt like I could breathe again and this brought back my love for reading! Thank you so much!! 🤎

Where do I even begin, I love Logan and his endless devotion and care for his daughter and in turn Thea. I love Thea for her dedication to her siblings and always considering their thoughts and mental load. The romance in this book was so good! Logan is such a flirt and I was smiling at all of his lines.🤎

Logan is such a wonderful man, when Thea is struggling and needs to find help, he steps in and does what he can to offer her a place to stay and protect her when possible. He is sweet and understanding no matter what and trusts Thea fully. He melts my heart and I enjoyed his story! 🤎

Lue is hilarious and such a loving daughter she reminds me a bit of myself in her love for theater and Shakespeare.

I am so excited to continue this series and thank you again to J.S. Wood and Hambright PR for the lovely ARC!

It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t good. The 4.3 ⭐️ rating had me fooled. I’m looking for a series like Bourbon Canyon by Walker Rose and every new book I try is just falling short.

Dorothy owns a bar with her sisters. She’s getting threatening letter from her ex. An ex that she saw murder a man, and then she reported him to the police and helped his get convicted. Logan is her good friend. To protect Thea’s financial assets he agrees to secretly marry her and move everything into his name.

I don’t get why the author kept telling us over and over again that Logan’s daughter was 14. Like ok, you’ve said it twenty times, enough already.

Another problem I had with the story is that it just doesn’t make sense that she’s getting letter from the parole board to notify her of the possible release of her ex from prison yet she doesn’t contact this same parole board to let them know of the threats she’s been receiving.

I alsodon’t get the point of the MC. Like the prez of the club refused to help at all. Only members who already happened to be friends/associates helped Logan find Thea. Couldn’t he have just turned to his friends for help why create a local MC chapter at all.

I will not be reading the rest of this series.

Thank you Hambright PR and J.S. Wood for the advanced copy of Break the Barrier.

The premise of this story is very cute. Thea needs to get rid of all her assets before her felon ex-husband tries to take them, so she asks her friend Logan to secretly marry her so she can give him ownership. What she doesn’t know is that he’s had feelings for her since he met her, so this isn’t a fake relationship to him. Thea’s interactions with his daughter Lue were so sweet, she’s a wonderful maternal figure for her.

What I didn’t like was how Logan acted towards the end. I understand he was upset that Thea left them, but she admittedly did it to protect him and his daughter and he’s holding that against her? It seemed immature and made no sense to me.

This could have used a lot more editing, which is ultimately why my rating is as low as it is. There was a lot of repetition in this story, either of Lue’s age, Thea’s situation, Logan’s true feelings, etc. that a good editor would have caught and had the sense to remove. There were also a lot of spelling and grammatical errors (one that stands out to me was spelling bridle as bridal… getting that wrong in a cowboy romance? Really?) which always bothered me when I found them.

Overall though, it was a very cute and quick read.

Break the Barrier is book number two in the Three Rivers Trevors Ranch series and is the story of Thea and Logan.

Thea packed up her sisters and ran to Acton, Colorado for a fresh start after her parents died and she chose poorly in a husband. In acton, she purchased a bar/restauarnt and made a life for herslf and her sisters. Logan has grown up in Acton and has spent his life fixing the things and people that need mended.

To keep Thea and her business safe from her ex-husband, he agrees to a marriage of convenience, except for him, the marriage isn't fake. Logan has pined for Thea since she moved to town and this is his chance to make things real. Sharing secrets, late night rides and moments with Logan's daughter, Thea realizes her feelings are not fake either. When trouble finds Thea, can she trust Logan or will she do what she has always done, try to protect those she loves.

This book is a heartfelt, small town romance with a sexy cowboy single dad who is protective of those he loves. There is a little angst and some serious moments, it is a sweet love story at heart with a makes you smile HEA.

4.25⭐

This is my first introduction to Three Rivers, and it absolutely delivers an entertaining read. As this friends-to-lovers romance is packed with heat and emotion.

When Thea needs to ensure her four sisters' safety and keep her troubled past at bay, she turns to Logan and surprises him with a marriage proposal and a secret agreement.

That he willingly accepts.

As Thea is the one woman who is never far from his mind. However, she has built an impenetrable wall around her heart and it will take all of Logan's strength and patience to break it down.

But fortunately, he has the support of his teenage daughter Luella (Lue) and his family, and he is up for the challenge and ready to hand over his hat!! 😉

And with spice, a swoon-worthy cowboy, family feels, a touch of danger and a fast-paced storyline. This is a cowboy romance, that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

My thanks to JS Wood and The Author Agency for the opportunity to read an early copy of Break the Barrier. All thoughts expressed are my own. ☺️

Thea’s past is closing in on her and she needs help, so she turns to her friend, Logan. A fake marriage to protect her from her psycho ex husband doesn’t seem like such a chore for Logan when he’s been in love with Thea for three years. But as fake dates turn into real ones, and their marriage starts to look less fake, can Thea learn to let her walls down and trust Logan? And can Logan protect her when her past catches up to Thea again?

A fake marriage, single dad, friends to lovers, psycho ex, cowboy romance? Urm yes please! I loved every second of this! The romance, the sister bond/brother bond, hot cowboy ranchers, the danger, the smart arse teenage step-daughter- every single part of this book was perfect! I need to go back and read book one without a doubt and then I need to read every single future book. Oh, and I have to go find me a man like Logan Cash immediately!!

This is an ARC review and all opinions are my own. Thank you to The Author Agency for the ARC copy of this book and for the opportunity to read and review it

Break the Barrier by JS Wood is a gripping novel that expertly blends romance, suspense, and emotional depth. From the first page, readers are drawn into an engaging story that explores themes of resilience, trust, and the power of love in the face of adversity.
The story follows MMC Logan and FMC Thea, navigating a world filled with challenges that test both strength and vulnerability. JS Wood does an excellent job of crafting a narrative that keeps readers invested, with well-developed characters and a plot that balances tension and heartfelt moments seamlessly.
There were some loose ends that if wrapped up would have made the book feel like a more complete story and provided a more satisfactory ending. This was a closed door romance so the spicy scenes were implied, but not described. The suspense portions of the book were described in a bit more graphic detail which was surprising.
I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes single dad, fake dating, small town, cowboy, suspense, friends to lovers and found family tropes.

🤠 Break the Barrier – ARC Review 🤠

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have such a soft spot for devoted single dads and golden retriever heroes, and Logan definitely delivered! Add a cowboy, a marriage of convenience, and years of pining, and I was sold.

Thea and Logan were such a lovely couple. I really enjoyed watching Thea slowly let her guard down and learn to rely on someone else after spending so many years putting her sisters first. Logan was incredibly patient and supportive, and his relationship with his daughter added so much warmth to the story. I especially loved seeing Thea become part of their little family.

I also enjoyed the balance between the sweet romance and the darker suspense surrounding Thea's past. The story explored trust, fear and forgiveness in a way that felt quite realistic. My only downside was that I would have loved a little more closure on some of the plot points towards the end.

Overall, a sweet small-town cowboy romance with plenty of family feels, pining and a hero who is absolutely gone for his girl!

Thanks so much to JS Wood and Hambright PR for the ARC!

5 Star Review Break The Barrier (Three Rivers Trevors Ranch Book 2) by J.S. Wood

J.S. Wood is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across this author before.

Set in Acton, Colorado, this is
Thea Weaver and single dad Logan Cash’s story. It was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.

Thea owns a bar for a fresh start. Bottle Grounds, determined to leave her ex husband and her past behind.

We all know that nothing lasts forever and when her past comes back to haunt her she knows she needs help.

Logan is determined to do whatever is necessary to protect Thea and her sisters and I admired that, even agreeing to pretend to be her husband.

What starts out as fake quickly morphs into so much more and I loved the development of their relationship.

Can Logan convince Thea to trust in him wholly and in doing so create a future together?

One click and find out.

When it comes to those she cares about Thea has no limits when it comes to love and loyalty. She and her new sisters have created a business and a new life in Acton but that is about to be threatened by her past. She believes that the best way to alleviate the threat is by pretending to be married and who better than her friend Logan who is always there for her.

Logan is a single father to his teenage daughter, and she is his world. The friendship that he shares with Thea is special, so he is more than willing to help her through this difficult time in her life. He is supportive and understanding when it comes to Thea, but he also knows what he deserves and isn’t about to accept anything less.

Thea has been hurt in the past which has her questioning her ability to not only trust others but herself while Logan is protective as he shows her what love really is as they take us on a suspenseful and romantic ride.

Break the Barrier is book two in the Three Rivers Trevors Ranch series and is Thea and Logan's story. Even though it is the second book, you could read this as a standalone, which I had done.

Thea is trying to protect her sisters and keep her past at bay. She turns to Logan, who has been her friend, for help. The help, which is a secret arrangement tied in with a marriage proposal. Logan waits patiently for her walls to come down.

This book was enjoyable and when they crossed from friends to lovers it felt effortless. The development of the story and their relationship was nicely written. If you're looking for a swoon worthy cowboy romance, this is it.

Releasing March 25, 2025. I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

📚🌶🌶

Break The Barrier is the second book in the Three Rivers Trevors Ranch series!! I was instantly in love with the first book and I had high hopes for the second. Thank goodness J.S. Wood did not let me down and I am loving the friends to lovers trope she created!

Thea moved to Acton, Colorado for a new beginning. She put all she had into her bar, Bottle Grounds, and into protecting her sisters. She knew she would need help to keep her dangerous ex husband away. She reaches out to her friend Logan in hopes that he would pretend to be her husband and help her out. Logan has always protected his family, his ranch and his daughter. When his extremely independent friend Thea needs a fake husband, he doesn't even question it. What starts as fake soon starts to feel real between them, but her past is not done with her yet.
