Caitlin Monroe is used to taking care of herself, thank you very much. After witnessing the grisly death of her parents, she’ll do anything to make sure that she and her sister are safe. But a witch with the rare and powerful gift of seeing the future can’t stay under the radar forever.
Although General Logan MacCulloch finds Caitlin dealing cards in a casino, her gift of prophecy is no match for his of luck. But as he gets to know her, he realizes they’re both struggling with similar wounded pasts. Not only does he vow to bring her into the Wiccan fold, he can’t help but want to make her his own.
But a chance brush of their hands suddenly shows Caitlin their sensual and heated future. Confused and frightened, she can only think to run from him, straight into the waiting arms of his arch enemy.
Hazel and her husband stopped being separate people years ago. They live their happy life in the always crowded, mostly sunny, and sometimes sweltering city of LA. Though they haven’t managed it yet, plans are afoot to add a kitty to the household, thereby giving the allergist fits.
Hazel has been writing full-time for several years, with some traditionally published work in other genres. But it’s her indie-published romance that fuels the creative fire. It turns out writing isn’t a job, it’s an obsession.
When you can pry Hazel’s fingers from the laptop, you’ll find her: on the elliptical watching a documentary, indulging her audiobook habit, or spending quality time with Candy Crush. Although she’s vegan, she’s a disaster in the kitchen. Luckily, potato chips and pinot noir come ready-made.

The Hero:Logan - he is a warlock who has been at war with the Knights Templar for about three hundred years. He is a general for the Magus corps and he is getting somewhat tired of it. The last novice he trained was murdered by the Knights and he is having a challenging time getting the energy to continue. Especially since his most recent assignment is to watch, then bring into the fold, a fledgling witch that he is unusually attracted to.
The heroine:Caitlyn - Her parents were murdered by an intruder ten years ago, she has a sister named Sheila who she has always taken care of, and she lives in Baltimore in a duplex house. She works as a dealer in a casino and does side jobs as a psychic for rich people and frat parties. She found out after college that she really could see into the future, and she uses her talents to make some extra money. One day while in a Wiccan curio shop, she felt called to a crystal ball and candles for an alter, and she stole an old book of spells from the library and does her best to study her craft on her own.
The story: Logan’s job is to get to know Caitlyn and train her to fight in the war. He could already tell that she was powerful and when she learned to use her power, her gift of sight could be very helpful to their side. Knowing what the other side was planning before they even thought about it could be just what they need. However, Caitlyn had never known anyone aside from herself who had any real abilities.
The story was fairly quick, but I liked it. I haven’t read many books with warlocks and witches, and I liked the overriding plot of the Knights Templar vs the wiccans and pagans. I also like a good supernatural story with some cool powers. Logan had the power to control his own luck, which is handy when playing cards, and a bit handy in a fight as well. The romance was quick, insta-love at it’s best and there was some good action as well.
Paranormal romance with protected sex. This is the 3rd in the series.
The further story of warrior warlocks waging war with Templar Knights. The warlocks are charged with bringing in rogue witches & warlocks who are trying to stay independent from the covens.
Logan is actually a General in the Magus army. He's been given light duty bringing in rogues after the death of his best friend from a Knight. He finds Caitlin & the sparks fly.
I liked this one, but there were several points of contention : Caitlin is a seer, so you'd think she'd have an edge here. Unfortunately, with divination, apparently you get whatever the gift shows you. After her duplex is broken into, you'd think Caitlin would give some thought to her pet ferret, who's also her familiar. Nope, he's left forgotten at home. Caitlin's sister is also a witch, but apparently they didn't know the other was too. She leaves the protection of the Magus because she doesn't want to be exploited by them. Seems dumb & her story is left hanging. Is there another story to give us resolution? Unknown. Jonathan is the leader of the Magus & he's pretty much of a dick. The Warlock Magus doesn't seem well organized. Help is too slow to come to those in need.
Why are these books not blending into one another. You are writing stories about a group of men working for the same company and all with the same agenda. Why on earth are they not mentioned in each other's books?
So this girl's parents were murdered and she had to take care of her sister. Her sister who she is soo close to but had no idea that she was a Wiccan? Stupid. Then your frigging neighbor happens to be the same guy that offed your parents?
So her witchy senses weren't tingling..how did you not catch a glimpse of the guy that almost chopped your head off?
Caitlyn's parents were killed in their home when she was younger. The attacker also tried to kill her, she has a scar to prove it. She and her sister who is ten years younger had to go to foster care for a while but as soon as she could she got custody of her sister Sheila. She has done everything her self since then. Her sister is now nineteen and on her own. When Caitlyn was a sophomore in college, she discovered she could see parts of the future if she concentrated hard enough. She stated doing fortune-telling on the side while she also worked as a dealer in a casino. She was searching for things about her power while she was still in college. She ended up stealing an old library book that had spells in it, even though only the things about the being a seer could she use. She started writing her own Pell's in the margins of the book. She has kept it hidden in her floor boards. Logan has been observing her for a couple of months now for Magna Corp. He doesn't want to get her involved with the Corp because he just lost his best friend Adam to a knight Templar a couple months ago. He doesn't think that she would be strong enough to survive and he definitely has feelings for her. This book is about their journey to trust in each other while fighting the templars.
I liked that Caitlin has always tried to use her gifts to help people, even if that means getting involved in one too many police cases and having the local Lieutenant give her the suspicious side-eye. But for someone supposed to be wise and knowing, she was so darned naïve when it came to the villain that it just didn't feel right to me. Perhaps Hunter wanted to show what an innocent and trusting soul she is, but her tendency to involve herself in trying to prevent the crimes she'd foreseen should have made her careful and vigilant, and her ability to see beneath the surface of people should have taught her that she should never take anyone at face value.
I like how Logan is struggling with his own battle wounds and the loss of a dear friend. It made him so much more human. The escalation of events, though, didn't make a lot of sense for the Templars because it was more like being stalked and in the previous books, the Templars usually just strike without warning. What was the point of trying to frighten or warn Caitlin? Especially the graffiti on the wall of her house saying, "Death to witches" in Latin? It seemed juvenile and didn't fit at all with the modus operandi or the character of the Templars. In fact, the villain seemed totally unhinged at the end, like it was not just a job to him but something else was going on in his mind. I didn't understand it at all.
I find it odd that Logan never considered that Sheila might have witch powers, too, even if she might not yet be "activated". She's Caitlin's sister, and if Caitlin is a witch, wouldn't there be a good chance of it? Yet for this high-ranking Magus Corps officer, his brain seems to be switched off. Rather odd, that he doesn't suggest it to Caitlin or try to explore the possibility of it.
I still want to know more about the Templars and the witches / warlocks. Logan says holy ground weakens the witches' powers, which seems to indicate that the witches are evil, or at least unnatural... yet the Templars are portrayed as the bad guys -- fanatics and obsessed with killing witches for no other reason than that the person was born a witch. And I can't figure out what it is the witches do, like what's their role in the world? Do they generally use their powers to help people? All we know is that they're always having to defend themselves against the insane Templars, who are portrayed as maniacal and bloodthirsty, unfeeling and vicious people who take pleasure in killing. There's no explanation as to how these two factions came to be at war. The world-building is sorely lacking.
Another disappointment... These books are getting more and more ridiculous. Poor character development, practically non-existent plot lines and absolutely no continuation from the previous books in the series. To top it off, the whole unprotected sex with a Wiccan makes you immortal thing is seriously weird and sounds like something a guy made up! Oh, and when did these guys become "Wiccan" Wiccans? All of a sudden it's all about the herbs and the rituals and the spells... since when!?!?! None of the other books had any of this in it, but all of a sudden it pops up here? This book left off in such a weird place, too- what is going to happen with the sister!?!? It's all set up so that there are these intriguing plot lines- The Eyes of Fate- and the sister is all mysterious and gifted all along, but now we're never going to see her again!?!?!? She was my favorite part of the entire thing, and now no more... why!? Am I missing something? are there other books out there that are tying up all these loose ends!?
Logan had come to bring Caitlin into the fold. She had been a rogue too long and her ability (precognition) is too valuable to both sides for her to stay free. But the more time Logan spends with her, the harder it is to let her go. And when she takes his place with the Templars, he will go to any lengths to get her back. Very entertaining.
This one is not like the others. By sap on July 4, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition Caitlin's story is a bit different from our previous two stories, but there is still struggle, violence, and love. She is a big sister and protector, and are those enough spoilers to drag you in?
Caitlin is the very definition of annoying in this book. She knows nothing but she keeps finding trouble and the Corps keeps having to rescue her, arghhh. Logan is too calm and accepting and such a puppy following her around.
As always, I did enjoy the book. For a short story, you're not going to see a lot of character development. It's more about the main characters experiencing love at first sight, and at the end, you're left with a feeling of incompleteness, but you know deep down they went on, had the unprotected relationship to initiate into immortality, and lived pretty much happily ever after. I really do recommend this book, and though the books in the series have no relation to one another, I think they only get better from here on out! They're sweet, simple, quick love stories! That being said, I've read a lot of Hazel Hunter books, and this was the first one that was really pushing the herbs/ritual to cast spells and etcetera. It was a bit off-putting because it just seemed a bit too forced, and not as natural seeming as it could have been. This book did have quite a doozy at the end however-Caitlyn's sister Sheila is talked about, has a big important part at the end, revealed she also has abilities, and then walks off into the supposed sunset and we'll probably never hear of her again. I really do hope for once that this particular story continues on with Sheila in another story!
