One of my favorite past times is reading the manuscripts or novels by struggling or upcoming authors. I absolutely love the creative process. I get tremendous satisfaction when I create characters who seem so real that a reader expects to be able to meet them one day. Or when I manufacture a landscape so compelling that someone feels tempted to plan a visit to that location during summer vacation. But the real joy for me is constructing situations where the protagonist has hard choices to make, where internal conflicts are so intense, it makes the reader second guess exactly what they would do if they faced those same dilemmas.

(4.25⭐) A worthy sequel. Any lover of Sci-fi, or anyone wanting to 'dip a toe' in the genre, will enjoy this very accessible series.
As the regime has fallen, and truths exposed, the protagonists are faced with the realities of a power vacuum: who will now run the city? The first half of the book does a great job of exploring how factions emerge, the politicking, media campaigns, smear tactics and even assassinations.
As the stakes increase the real enemy prepares to retaliate. It all builds to an epic battle full of heroics and betrayal.
Whilst the ages of the 2 main characters is a little hard to square with their achievements, that does not take away from the fact this a series that will appeal to all ages and deserves to get far more recognition.
Once again, top class narration by Euan Morton

Oh my goodness!! Action packed and couldn’t put this book down! I thought the first was great but damn, loved this even more! Politics, battles, love and plot twists - amazing!
