CAREFUL, SHE BITES!Zach and LeeAnn have agreed to an unorthodox adventure. They plan on meeting with some open-minded friends in an isolated forest and testing the foundation of their relationship. But unbeknownst to them, their romantic bond isn’t the only thing that will be challenged. The monstrosity lurking in the woods will test their courage, resilience, and will to survive.
Fueled by steroids, infected with a lab-conjured disease, and hampered by bizarre side-effects, the horsefly roams. A fiery internal rage and insatiable lust for blood control her every move. But while the horsefly tries to work through her bodily changes, she is haunted by existential questions. Why was she chosen to usher forth the evolution of her species? And why does her addictive urge to slaughter and feast push her far beyond the spectrum of her appetite?
Horsefly is an Immersive Entertainment Experience. It contains over 11 minutes of complementary animated video and 15 interior illustrations. The videos are designed to give the reader a window into some of the book’s nastiest scenes.
This book contains graphic content. Reader discretion is advised.

This book was very good and the QR codes that go along with the story are a fantastic addition, I wish that it was longer.
Nefarious goings on at a secluded cabin retreat, turn into a blood soaked buzzkill!!
I absolutely loved the immersive experience of Benjamin, with the QR codes scattered strategically throughout the story, they were utterly chilling, beautifully gory and completely enhanced the reading experience. So as you can imagine, I was dead excited for Horsefly, especially when I discovered it too contained the same immersive additions....and suffice to say, I was not disappointed.
This is true Beauregard style, it grabs you right outta the starting gates and flows right in with the gross, disgusting, gory, darkly humorous prose, and the sense of anticipation I've come to know and love.
The short, sharp chapters had me racing through, devouring the story in just two sittings! Absolutely unputdownable!
If you think an annoying Horsefly buzzing and biting in your ear is bad, just imagine one pumped up on steroids, full of rage and intent on destruction. Brutal, bloody, savage and remorseless destruction. Destruction to all living creatures! And with a passionate bloodlust to boot!
The animations for this one were a lot of fun! And I really enjoyed getting the Horsefly's POV.
Wild! An absolute ton of fun!! A real blast!! But wait a minute, was that a happy ending? Well, kinda.... 😉😂
And the final animation....wow!!
"Feeling ****'s death tremors as he vibrated atop him like an eager stripper giving a lap dance..."
"..its serrated mandible cutting through *****'s midsection like a poop-knife through diarrhea. “
Horsefly is a slasher in woods story in Aron Beauregard fashion. Zach and Leeann, high school sweethearts, are contemplating marriage but have never been with anyone else. To test their relationship they head into the woods to join a group of people offering a relaxing experimental weekend. At the same time a horsefly escapes a corporations lab that was almost ready to unleash a sinister plan that would impact all of humanity.
It is a funny, bloody, gory, gross read with Vimeo videos as you read along, offering an immersive reading experience. Fun, fast paced, unique take on the slasher trope.
Aron Beauregard’s HORSEFLY is a grotesque multimedia masterpiece! A B-movie creature feature from an extreme horror A-lister, full of glowing green ooze, depraved sex, and an escaped lab experiment so twisted that it would make Jeff Goldblum say “Uhh”.
This book contains QR codes to animations which show another angle to the story, and it makes for a really unique experience. Also I listened to the audiobook for this one, and Chuck Brugee makes fly buzzing sounds…5 stars.
It's been a minute since I read anything by AB. When this one released, I was all over it. The cover is amazing, the story is great and it even includes QR codes to view animations which was cool and unique.
Nothing screams b movie horror quite like a huge horsefly that is out for blood and will stop at nothing to get it. This book is jam packed with gore, depravity and some characters that you will love to see go down. AB did an amazing job with the setting, the story, everything really! Someone needs to pick this up and make it into a film. Highly recommend to those that love creature features and b movie horror.
I listened to this one overnight at work last night. Chuck Brugee is a master!! Aron you 100% made the right choice in Mr. Brugee!! Even the buzzing sounds. 😂😂😂 This was so much fun to listen to. I didn't do the codes to watch the videos but I plan on buying the book and rereading it with the codes. Just like Benjamin, the videos add so much to the experience of the book.
Well, folks, if you’re looking for a creature feature this summer that’s equal parts disgusting and hilarious, complete with unraveling relationships, over-the-top horror, and a horsefly having what can only be described as an existential crisis, then buzz on over and grab a copy of Horsefly!
Creature horror is one of my favorite subgenres, especially when it leans into that unapologetic B-horror energy. Here, we get a monstrous horsefly enhanced by Disease X, turning it into an absolute nightmare. A giant fly that feeds on its victims while leaving behind trails of brown sludge? Revolting. Ridiculous. Completely entertaining. Some scenes genuinely tested my stomach, and I mean that as a compliment.
One of the coolest and most unique features of the book has to be the QR codes. There are three in total, providing over 11 minutes of animated content tied to scenes from the story. I’ve never encountered anything like that in a novel before, and I LOVED it. It added another layer of fun to the reading experience. And for horror lovers who enjoy visual extras, the book includes 15 delightfully vile illustrations that perfectly complement the story’s gruesome atmosphere. If you’re thinking about picking this one up, I’d definitely recommend the deluxe hardcover edition with its dual-cover (dust jacket and hard case). It looks AWESOME on my shelf.
What really surprised me, was how much I enjoyed getting chapters from the horsefly’s POV. Yes, the fly. Somehow Beauregard makes it work, and those moments ended up being some of my favorites!
Overall, I had an absolute blast with this book, I flew right through it. The characters felt well-developed, the gore was disturbing in all the right ways, the horsefly was easily my favorite character, and the ending stuck the landing. I can’t wait to read more by Beauregard, highly recommend!!
Horsefly by Aaron Beauregard Narrated by Chuck Brugee 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟(4.5 rounded up) When a romantic outing turns into horrors, Zac and LeeAnn are trapped in for an adventure they didn’t want! The horsefly creature is one I would never want to encounter!
I listened to the audio and it is a super fun listen!! It’s a quick read and it definitely sucked me in right away!
There’s also QR codes you can scan for some entertaining videos to watch along the way.
*Check out this entertaining book and go for the audio version!!** 🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰
“It ain’t about the p*ssy . . . It’s about the t*tties.” This book was equal parts wtf and hilarious. Hilarious because it was actually funny or because it was so outlandish? The world will never know. But this book was the perfect splatterpunk entry level addition. Not super disgusting and traumatizing. Gross and violent but not nightmare worthy. Worthy of a good ol “oh ew *gag*” Also it’s not hyper sexual. Yes there is some talk about boobs and a little bit of necrophilia but it’s just a little bit.😅 Honestly wouldn’t mind there being a part 2 to this. I’d read it.
Imagine smoking laced weed, then watching a giant horsefly unalive THEN eat someone's brain in front of you, leaving you to wonder if you're too stoned or if it was actually real.
This was a blast to read! I love the all the different stories taking place at once. Vile deaths, gore, shit, vomit....aron always writes such interesting and disgusting stuff the videos were such a great addition to the story! The last video was bleak as hell. Loved this one
This one was a blast! It's equally parts funny as it is gory. The horsefly's POV had me dying laughing throughout. The videos were absolutely insane. This was a really fun, immersive and fast-paced read that takes slasher horror to an entirely different level.
Creature Feature, Over the top body horror...Hooked me
We follow our main characters Zach and LeeAnn, who've been together since they were young into a remote cabin in the woods with friends who they met while hanging at a swingers club.
Hoping to try something new in their relationship, they do an experiment to test how far their relationship can go before breaking.
It all starts off pretty harmless but when they encounter a gigantic predatory horsefly out for blood it turns into a tale of survival...becuse this horselfy is no ordinary horsefly, and with its enhancement with steroids, and infected with a laboratory-created disease, they're driven by an overwhelming thirst for blood.
First of all Aron, what a perfect blend of creature horror gore and dark humour. This is something you're well known for, and bring in the fast pace, and added chaos? Its the absolute perfect recipe for mayhem.
Second of all, what pure and utter creative genius of Aron to further enhance our reading experience by providing various illustrations AND animated content (just by scanning a QR code), bringing some of the most shocking scenes to life. Trust me, these scenes are not only shocking, they're traumatic, especially horseplay 😔😢
Been a huge fan of Aron's work ever since I read Wedding Day Massacre, playground 1 & 2, Cuckoo and scary bastard, and now I'm a huge fan of his creature feature, over the top body horror. I had an absolute blast!
Like playground, I managed to binge this book and finish it a bit over an hour. I’ll start by saying it intrigued me cause of the whole horsefly, and he’s really good at creative concepts. The set up is good, opening is good, and the main two are likeable.
It does have its gripes. Gay dude dies first, and Aron loves killing babies and kids… which can work done correctly! The boy killed by the fly was good… milk miscarriage scene? A bit much.
I did like the humans getting infected bit but it also took away from some horsefly action, ya know. Like if ur killing an unborn baby have the fly eat the fetus, right?
Also the fly defecating as it feeds is introduced first chapter, at first I thought it was a bit much but it added to like the terror of it all. Cause it’s like scary and fucking gross. But other than one scene we don’t really get anymore diarrhea talk which sucks cause I think more could’ve had me sick!
Overall his writing is solid here and the plot is fun! I think he did a good amount with the gimmick he chose but I would’ve liked some more grotesque kills (I liked Austin’s death and when the fly would throw the bodies) I’m pretty impressed with the flow and lack of plot holes of this book compared to his older stuff, nice to see his improvement
The barcodes are also intriguing for sure!

I checked out this book at the recommendation of @gavins.stabbin.reviews. It did not disappoint! If you love cheesy horror sci-fi movies (especially those on the Syfy channel), then this novella is for you!
The plot involves a giant, bloodthirsty horsefly and a swingers' weekend at a cabin in the woods. What could go wrong? For the reader, nothing! For the characters, well, let's just say it isn't the romantic weekend they were hoping for.
The author, @aronbeauregardhorror, warns readers at the beginning of the audiobook that this book would be disgusting... it was. There is a lot of gore, including some weeping pus and necrophilia. Would it be weird to say it was also so gory that it was, at times, comical? (But in a good way?) You know, like when the bad CG shark in a Syfy movie chomps down on a victim and blood goes flying everywhere, even onto the camera lens? I want to watch the movie based on this book. So, can someone make that happen, please? Thanks in advance!
I would definitely recommend this fast, nauseatingly good read.
We all know by now that Aron is one of my ultimate fav authors so of course I had to read his newest release!! I actually listened to this on audible with my other half on a road trip to Scotland 🏴
Zach & Lee-Ann have been together ever since school. Lee-Ann is a little worried that they’ve missed out on experiences with only being with each other so they decide on a getaway with other couples to a remote cabin where they can all have no strings attached fun together
Things go off from the very first night, instead of harmless fun & spicing up their sex life they’re met with sketchy people that have more sinister motives!
And if that’s not bad enough there’s also a giant killer horsefly on the loose that’s blood thirsty & cannot get enough!!
This was so much fun 🤣 it had the gore, the shock factor & the dark humour that AB is known for! The fly’s POV was not expected 😅 but those QR code visuals…
WOW they elevated it to an unimaginable gorefest level!!
Another great read from Beauregard as always! I’m loving the added animated content to his most recent books! Even with Audible it gives you the QR codes so watching the videos play out between the scenes is definitely a unique experience when it comes to reading! 👏🏼
I don’t have a copy for my bookshelf yet but hopefully il get one soon for my special collection 🤎
This book was an incredible time!! It feels like a classic B Horror creature with tons of blood, guts , and brutality but also adding a great story that was engaging that will keep you wanting more, as well as a lot of depth when it comes to our characters and you still get some of that classic AB shock! Also this being an immersive splatterpunk novel with QR codes throughout the story taking you to short animated videos to enhance the story with some amazing visuals and it was such a cool experience. Definitely a must read for any splatterpunk/extreme horror reader
This was my first immersive experience when it comes to books. There are illustrations and QR codes throughout linking you to videos of scenes in the book. I really enjoyed this. It was almost like a video game where you're playing as the Horsefly itself.
I'm not usually into creature feature books, but with it being AB's new book, I had to give it a go. It's full of gore, guts, and depravity, and I had a lot of fun reading it. It's funny, super creative, and full of characters I hate, so I'm glad they're ripped apart by a bloodthirsty bug 😂
This is an instant guilty pleasure read for me! I received an arc from the author a few months ago, and excitedly jumped into the story. It was so much fun. Gory, violent, funny, and just a treat for somebody who loves B monster movies as it is written in that style. Plus the extra interactive video content (via QR codes) adds so much to the experience! To date, this is the most fun I’ve had with a Beauregard book!
Well, we got another Beauregard Banger! Horsefly was entertaining from start to finish. It reminded me somehow of 28 Days Later, Cujo, and The Fly all at once. This was written so well and the animations that go with it made me feel like I was watching a B movie (which I love). It was absolutely hilarious and unserious but really intriguing and had almost heart warming parts to it. Fully recommend this one if you need some entertainment!
A very nasty book. Full of language, violence, gore, sex and chaos. There is also an abortion if that is the right word. ( I'm pretty sure that's not a spoiler just what to look out for.) I enjoyed this book like all of Aron Beauregard books. Goodreads says this book is not published yet but I have a physical copy in my hand that is not an arc.
This book was the best mix of creature feature meets splatterpunk. Not only did this book have a great story with the "friends" group but with the evil they would face as well. Each part was crafted out and when they collided it was a wild and gore filled ride. When the chaos begins, it does not stop and you won't stop reading
This is a fun, quick creature feature story that made a terrific audio book! The story is simple but gets right to it so we dont learn much about the characters. But the immersive part with the added videos are fun and original. I suggest this to anyone that needs a creature feature flick with gore and depravity!
I thought this book was absolutely awesome. Definitely a creature feature and I could see this as a movie for sure. The little animation movies were also amazing and went great with the book. He never disappoints.
SO FREAKING COOL! The immersive reading experience was so much fun and the story itself just sucked you right in. The horsefly creature was very unique and i could not get enough of the crazy gory kills!
A super fun immersive reading experience for fans of creature features and hardcore horror. Violent and tense with some humor peppered in. This book somehow made me hate flies even more than I already do.
This was more than a book. It was a new experience that I loved! I loved that I could see this book as an epic film and felt it come to life. I LOVE ART MADE WITHOUT AI! And I appreciate Aron’s urgency and drive to preserve real art.
Aron never fails me and his immersive reads are the sh**! This is the second book of his where something has happened to an unborn fetus and that kinda tugs my heart strings but all in all this book was a good quick read.
This was a fun read, some gore but also some funny parts. Loved the immersive experience with scanning the QR codes to see the animations. I recommend not reading in your car with your windows down on a summer day.
Not exactly an "advance copy"; the limited-edition hardbacks were just sent out early. Anyway, I loved this! Definitely my fav from AB that I've read so far. 8/10
