Montana Dragons #1

Coercion: The Complete Collection

Rate this book
A Montana Wolves crossover romance...

Book One:
When Willa Stone is cast aside by the alpha-wolf she’s been promised to since birth, she’s humiliated and angry, but also secretly relieved. Now, maybe she’ll have the chance to mate for love. If her power-crazed parents will just give her a little time, she’s sure to find the man of her dreams…

Dragon-shifter, Drake Blackbourne, has an itch to scratch and precious few options for an outlet. When the Stone family offers up their daughter’s hand in exchange for protection and political favors, he agrees to wed her, sight unseen. Drastic times call for drastic measures and, so long as she does her part and keeps out of his way the rest of the time, surely he can manage to bed her, no matter how plain she might be.

What he doesn’t expect is that captivating, defiant Willa will ignite a fire in him that will burn everything in its path, and turn both of their worlds upside down…

Book Two:
Willa Stone is stuck on a mountain with the dragon-shifter she was forced to wed, and she can't wait to escape. At least, that's how things start out, but day by day, Drake Blackbourne is breaking down her defenses. If she stays, she risks losing herself to him forever, but if she goes, will she be able to reconnect to the wolf-pack who betrayed her?

Book Three:
Willa Stone has been fighting for freedom her whole life. Freedom from her parents. Freedom from the tyranny of a cruel, power hungry alpha. And now, the freedom to select a mate of her own choosing.

When she's sold into an arranged marriage with dragon-shifter Drake Blackbourne to gain political favor for her family, every part of her rails against the injustice of it all...until now. She's fallen in love with her captor. But when a cruel twist of fate tears them apart, it will take everything she has to regain his trust and recapture the happiness she found in his arms.

Pleasantly surprised. It’s a straightforward story of a dragon and wolf falling in love….after he essentially buys her off her parents, who sold her for the promise of his support if there’s a war between wolf packs. So...yeah. Actually, this feels like the spinoff of another series (I haven’t read it, but there’s definitely a story with her ex-fiance and his mate).

Anyway, it gave me Beauty and the Beast feels and I cannot resist. There’s a bit of instalove, but I enjoyed the chemistry between Willa and Drake. Their Firsts are dramatic and yes there’s angst, but overall it was a quick read. It started life as a serial, which I loathe. But as one complete story? It flowed fairly well and if you’re a shifter romance fan who is all about that BatB trope, you may enjoy it like I did.

Didn't like this one -- holding a woman captive is NOT romantic

I have a big problem with this story. It is NOT romantic when a woman is sold, and held captive against her will. I also know that women do NOT fall in love with their captors -- they might get Stockholm Syndrome, but they do not fall in love, and they certainly don't fall in instant lust. I hated the H for holding her after he found out she didn't agree to be his wife, and I couldn't stand that she was portrayed as so weak to fall for her captor.

Coercion is a serial series that makes up books 1-3 in the Montana Dragons series by Chloe Cole, who is the alter ego to NY Times best selling author, Christine Bell. The Montana Drags series is a paranormal romance series that follows two different dragons. (Where do they live, I wonder? Could it be Montana??) Books 1-3 are Drake's story and books 4-6 are Etienne's story. I liked that this serial romance was split into two sub parts like that. I grabbed Coercion book 1 because it was free on amazon. (Still is! Grab it HERE) And when I finished reading that I immediately bought the complete Coercion set. (it was only 99 cents!! Such a deal!)

Willa is a wolf shifter that was jilted by the Alpha in her pack. That whole story has an entire spin off series, in case you are interested. But You don't need to read it to enjoy and understand this series. Willa's parents leave the pack and are looking for allies to get revenge on behalf of their daughter. In the process of their plan they sign a marriage contract with a dragon shifter. Only problem is Willa had no idea. Willa's parents totally handled this situation badly. They don't tell Willa what is going on, they pull up to an abandoned road and basically strand her there. Talk about messed up and scary.

But that is only the start of the story, because then we meet Drake. Willa and Drake clash and butt heads the whole time. That was what I loved about them. They are both so strong willed and stubborn that it is an interesting match. Their story was great for a quick read that felt new and fresh. I have been really interested in Dragon shifters lately and to see one paired with a wolf shifter was not something I expected. Coercion is a great 3-part serial for fans of shifter romances. i would recommend you check it out! I want to read more Willa and Drake.

If her power hungry parents would just give her a little time, Willa Stone is sure she can find the man of her dreams in this exciting paranormal romance.

Willa’s parents made a deal with a dragon and just gave her to him and Drake Blackbourne has an itch that needs scratching and very little outlets being he is a dragon… and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the flying sparks between Willa and Drake ignite a fire that will burn everything in its path and turn their worlds upside down. These strong charismatic characters take hold of the reader’s attention from the very beginning and refuse to let go and the fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers shivering in expectation with lots of suspense, excitement and passion. The chemistry between these two is definitely hot enough but the relationship starts off with a major betrayal …really that just leads to some major drama, excitement and emotional turmoil.

Spine tingling anticipation builds as Willa and Drake’s clashes cause some major excitement and the readers wonder just what will happen between these two. The well written scenes and details paint vivid images of this rocky courtship that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated events including escape attempts and red hot sex scenes ensure that there is never a dull moment.

A sexy brooding dominant dragon, a feisty determined woman, an arranged marriage and a sizzling passion kept me hostage from the very beginning and with another dragon paying a visit and the Montana Wolves attempting a rescue adding lots of spice and excitement there was no way I could put these stories down once I began and I am waiting impatiently for the next book in the series.

I have not read anything by this author before.
Whilst I felt really sorry for Willa for what her parents had done and for finding herself married to a stranger, her childish behaviour nearly all the way through was annoying. She took her anger out on Drake instead of her parents who were the real culprits. Drake had been duped as much as she had but he was willing to be reasonable, he was just not willing to let Willa go.
All her plotting to run away was stupid, what was she going to do, run back to her shite parents so they could sell her for the third time. I thought it was funny when she thought about going to Manhattan to live, no money, no job, no training for anything. She had been raised to be the Alphas mate and nothing else.
Willa starts to fall for Drake and then her ex fiancé comes to save her. Drake thinks she was running away again and has had enough of her behaviour and turns mean.
I didn’t like the way they treated each other and although it all turned out well I did not have a feel good factor after reading this.
Drake was a good man until he felt betrayed by Willa and then acted horrible but he still looked out for her by dealing with her rotten parents and by letting her go.
I think the problem with this story was it was written in 3 parts so the story was dragged out with tense situations. As one book it needs to be tidied up, re-edited and it would be a great book without Willa’s immaturity taking up so much of the story.

We start this story with Willa, her parents, her alpha and his new mate, all in a meeting. It turns out that Willa should have been mated to the alpha, but he's only gone and fallen in love (and mated) someone else! After seeing the Pack's reactions to her change, Willa feels she has no alternative but to leave the Pack with her parents, and start anew somewhere else. However, they have other plans, as Willa soon finds out.

I loved the relationship that Drake and Willa started. So timid and mild to start with, Willa soon started standing up for herself, as well as being prepared to make sacrifices for those she loves. Whilst their relationship is fast moving, it also builds up slowly (!), making it altogether more satisfying when they get together.

Originally told as a three-part serial, I am glad that I was able to read it continuously as I think the cliffhangers would have driven me crazy! With no editing or grammatical errors that I found, this is one hot dragon/wolf shifter story that is thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely recommended.

* I received this book from Hazel Hunter in return for a fair and honest review. *

This was an interesting story from the get-go. Totally understand the arranged marriage syndrome. The way the hero & heroine meet for the 1st time - interesting! Different!
I liked the author's writing style.

Love is in the Lair

I read the reviews before downloading and, as many Kindle Unlimited readers know, books with editing errors are a common occurrence. BUT, imho, you only notice glaring improper punctuation, typos or a missing word here and there if the story is so so or the editing errors are egregious and stray too widely from spoken English. In other words, if the Forest is compelling, the small, individual trees tend to blend into the landscape.

I was surprised this story captured my attention from the beginning. I have never read about dragon shifters so that was cool and I really liked the female wolf shifter; she’s a modern day, independent woman and so darn relatable. I laughed, I had tears, and the sex was pretty steamy (only a few scenes so it remained fresh rather than oh no, not again, skip the page sex).

The story line is predictable but it remained a page turner because the characters are interesting, well developed and grow with the story. Though I didn’t notice all the incorrectly placed commas another reviewer did, I believe it’s always a good idea for an author to have a few proofreaders friends that can be bribed with brownies, ice cream or a glass of wine.

Coercion

Spoilers: This is a short book (188 pages) about a 25 year old female wolf shifter. The world construct describes a society on the brink of change from archaic concepts about women into the modern age. When her arranged marriage to her best friend the wolf Alpha falls through, her parents sell her to a lone dragon shifter without her knowledge. Of course she's furious and the arrogant dragon is just as hard headed and broken as she is. Their chemistry and physical desires overcome her mental reluctance after a while, but only after she reaches out to the Alpha friend. He bulldozes in and rescues her against her will, but Drake believes she's betrayed him, and chains her up. At that point I was simply over it, but of course she loves him and forgives his boorish behavior.

I'd seen that this was a pen name for an author i like, but for writing more steamy romance. I figured i'd give it a try. It was really bad. The plot was so tropey i was able to predict the entire thing as it went along. Even the stupid misunderstanding which of course lead to horrible abuse but it's okay cause women always just empathize and forgive when hot men are abusive. The main lead is a virgin and super innocent which also not a fan of. I thought maybe it was just to have a different kind of protagonist but looking at the next book and nope another older virgin naive women. Women have worth beyond being virgins so the man can feel good about being the "only" one they've been with. The steamy stuff was pretty decent and Since i love her other works i might try another under this pen name, but more recent, in hopes that most of the bad writing due to being one of her older works.

Dragon and Wolf

Willa's parents have controlled her all her life but, this time they've too far! They've given her to a dragon shifter to further themselves without even giving her a hint of what's in store. They just left her at the side of the road with a huge dragon flying toward her!

Misunderstandings abound as Willa tries to escape from Drake, to return to her pack - NOT to her self-absorbed parents.

Strong characters, hot leads, and a decent story make this worth a read.

Couldn’t put it down

This was a quick and captivating read. I honestly couldn’t put it down and I have no real reason why. There really wasn’t much in terms of story. This wasn’t unique in the slightest and the author missed a lot of opportunities to develop the story and a few things were said that didn’t jive with shifters as we know them to be supernaturals with enhanced senses. But again strangely I was intrigued and am now itching to read book 2 in this series.

In my defense, I didn't actually read the name of the book, or I don't remember reading it. In the last few chapters I literally said out loud "Girl No" so many times. I will never understand why shitty behaviour on the part of the MMCs always get forgiven as "oh he was hurt".

2 stars because I made it to the end, and the FMC wasn't skinny.

After being jilted, her parents arrange a husband for their daughter.
That would have been fine if they had told her.
Instead they dropped her off in a lay-by on the side of a mountain.
Kidnapping, murder and adventure.
A great read.

Dark story

This story was darker than I thought.
I also didn't feel the connection between Willa and Drake.
Maybe the story needs more, something.
I will continue reading this series to see if it gets better.

It was a good easy read, nice and well written, lacking in huge dramatics, but a few angsty moments, good way to spend a couple of hours and a couple of hot scenes.

Awesome love story!

This story had me hooked from beginning to end- it was impossible to put down. If you like stories about dragon-shifters, werewolves, and love, you definitely should give it a try.

In this book, Willa is a werewolf who was promised to be her best friend’s mate by both sets of parents since birth. Their marriage was arranged and they were to lead the pack in the future. The problem was, neither loved the other and her werewolf intended fell in love with another. Willa couldn’t even bring herself to hate the new woman, Maggie, who was kind. The looks of pity from her pack tore her apart; however, and she agreed to leave the pack with her parents. Little did she know she was leaving one bad situation and winding up in another.

Her parents ended up promising her to a dragon shifter and all but leave her on the side of the road in his care, not even staying long enough to make introductions. Willa is scared, never having met a dragon in real life before and is seriously mad that her parents managed to take away her free will yet again and her chance at finding a mate who she chooses for love.

Drake, the dragon shifter, unbeknownst to the fact that his new wife is a reluctant bride, refuses to let her go, believing her to be his. He is not cruel or mean, and does not make any moves towards her; but he refuses to let her go back to the parents who tricked her and do not have her best interests at heart. Willa learns that Dragons do not like to give up what they consider ‘theirs’.

While Willa tries every half-baked scheme to escape, will she end up falling for her dragon arranged husband? Will Drake be able to keep her if she truly wants to go? Guess you have to read to find out! You won’t be sorry!

Drake and Willa are a thunderstorm from the start , Willa wants to choose her own fait and is floored to know drake is just another shifter that's wants to try and take that away from her so naturally she trys to escape him and have freedom to do so, but her growing attraction is stalling her to the point where she doesn't even know why she's running. Willa is a stubborn chick who is described as a bit thick which in my case wasn't satisfying, I know the author was trying to change it up a bit and make thick girls feel comfortable in there own skin but when I read books like this it makes me pissed because I'm a thick person and trying to imagine myself with someone as described to be as good lookin as drake let alone someone else I cringe because being whith someone you think to be more beautiful is bound to bring up some insecurities (not attractive). I don't want to read about thick girls because call me a bitch if you will but I'm more fond on reading about a girl who has curves in all the right places and toned in a feminine way then someone who is described as chunky to me. I like books to take the attention off me and bring out someone I would like to be in that moment. Drake is sexy but is really boring and I have a hard time enjoying his character.

I enjoyed the layout of the story If only it was a better.

This book is based off my opinion alone and not to make anyone feel out of place or insulted. Thanks for reading

I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this story!!!!

Due to the fact his series was out in parts1-3 i will post each review of each part seperatly and not one review for the whole book.

Coercion Part 1-5 stars
I was given an arc copy by the author for an honest review.

I lovely story to start a new series.

Willa has been turned down by the alpha she was promised too.
Now her very ambitious parents take her away from her pack and her friends to a new one and to a mysterious new Alpha.
Willa didn't want to marry her best friend nor does she want to marry this new alpha male.
but on the road to this new pack Willa finds her self abandoned, alone and married to the new alpha...only he is not an Alpha wolf but rather an Alpha Dragon!!!!

Captivating and emotionally high with well written characters that will make you want to get to know them and you'll find yourself not wanting to let the book down.
I love it when a series has wolves in it...what i love more is when it has Dragons and this one is not one you want to mess with.
Fast paced , highly emotional and hot!

too stuborn shifter clashing and love is almost out the window but hopefully not all is tottally lost!

an amazing read!!!

can't wait to read more!!!!

Willa was betrothed from birth to Greyson, but when he decides to take another mate, Willa's life is turned upside down. She is sold to a dragon shifter named Drake, and when she meets him for the first time is not happy to discover they're already married. Willa is constantly trying to escape, but when Grey arrives, he's too late, she's already fallen in love with Drake. When Drake wakes up to find the love of his life gone and she is with the man she was betrothed to, he thinks it's another escape plan. This becomes a war no one can ever win.
I really enjoyed this book, it was the first of Chloe's books I've read, and I really loved her style of writing, you could really feel both Drake and Willa's pain, hurt, love and devastation. A beautiful story that will have you tearing up with the pain both Willa and Drake feel. If you enjoy Tasha Black, Kim Fox and Roxie Noir, you will enjoy this book too.

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest and fair review

Willa is a wolf shifter who has been promised to Grey, her Alpha, since she was born. But when he goes and marries another, her parents leave the pack. She goes to and they take her to meet Drake, a dragon shifter. They have promised her to him in exchange for his loyalty to their new pack. Willa is stunned and tries every way possible to get away. Drake always keeps his promises and aims to keep her. Once she gives in, she falls in love with him but makes a huge mistake by contacting her old Alpha and he kidnaps her. The only way to save him, she jumps off a cliff for Drake to save her. He won't listen to her explanation and chains her up. But realizes his mistake and let's her go. Can she get him to listen or has she lost her mate for good?
Excellent story. Hot sex. Hunky dragon shifter and beautiful wolf shifter.

Your fiance kicks you to the curb for another branding you in a negative way to all of potential mates in your pack. Your parents are from the old school and have arranged a marriage for you without your knowledge. What do you do and who do you turn too. Willa finds herself in just that position when she finds herself smack dab in the arms of a Dragon Shifter. What follows is a 3 book story of how their trust is tested and stretched. As we watch the changes in each of them and watch them grow closer when will they realize true love or a true mate is a possibility and not just a dream. Hot steamy passion is ignited but is it enough. Willa is strong, perky, sassy and all of the things Drake didn't know he wanted as he is for her. The hardest thing they will have to do is put pride and ignorance aside.

This is the first book I have read by Chloe Cole. It's been sitting on my kindle for quite some time so when I was looking for a good paranormal shifter book, I figured this one would do. I wasn't expecting much but I have to say I was impressed.

Chloe Cole was able to create a world that kept me entertained. I enjoyed the characters and the plot line was fun. I was a little nervous with the title Coercion but I was happy to see that this didn't turn into a darker story. The plot moved steadily and the characters experienced an instant love type story. At times, I found myself annoyed but all in all I did enjoy the plot. I do wish that we saw more growth in the characters though.

Ultimately, it kept me entertained and it was a nice, quick read. I would give it 3 1/2 stars so I'm giving it 4 because I always round up.

This was a great series. I loved every single one--cliff hangers and all. With the boxed set no waiting to find out what happens. Willa has been through a lot already, one lost fiance, break up of her pack and now moving. Little did she know that the move was into a mating with a dragon shifter.

Bitter and defiant she does what Drake least expected, captures his interest. She wants to escape he wants to change her mind and keep her safe from dangers she is unaware.

When she begins to come around they're beginning trust is shaken. Will events keep them apart or will the feelings they share overcome all the outside forces against them.

You won't want to put this one down. Enjoy. I did.

I was unsure how the story line would work with the combination of dragons and wolves but I really enjoyed this book. Willa was a bright and kind wolf who tried to make her crazy parents happy by following along with their wishes even though she wanted a match by love with a mate. Drake had given up on finding a love match but needed someone who would be strong and provide him with companionship and an heir. When they meet Drake was surprised at how truly beautiful Willa was where as Willa was in shock that her parents set up an arranged marriage without telling her. Through an uphill battle on both sides of the relationship it was fun to watch as the attraction turned to caring and then to love for the both of them. I really enjoyed their story and will look for more of the series.

I just have a weak spot for dragon's, so when I get my hands on a book about them I give it a try.
This one was a really nice and hot surprise.

With some twist I didn't see coming and some I did see coming, stupid men. *shakes head*
Poor Willa having to go through such a bad day at the beginning of the story, especially because of her parents.
Of course she is scared of Drake, but she feels also attraction to this dragon shifter. So this makes her feel very confused.

I was happy that I could read the whole book at once and not in parts, because I sure wanted to know what was happening next after each part.

Drake Blacbourne is a dragon-shifter, a powerful immortal. Willa is a wolf-shifter who has been forsaken by her alpha fiance. Feeling scorned by the pack, Willa's parents enter into an arrangement with Drake. Willa will be Drake's bride in exchange for a powerful new alliance. The only problem: Willa had no idea and definitely isn't okay with it.

Drake is a possessive, sexy hero and Willa is...fine. I would say the book on a whole was not very remarkable but I have high hopes for the next one which I'm praying is about the playboy, bad-boy, dragon that lives next door. Time to go check it out.
