This was a satisfactory finish to the story of Ava and Malachi. All the ends were fairly neatly tied up and everyone got their just desserts. The last page was predictable but still emotional ( just a little tear in the eyes).
However the book as a whole did not really zing from beginning to end! In fact it dragged for most of the time. We spent an amazing amount of time in the bedroom with our two apparently insatiable lovers which became just a tad repetitive. In between bedroom scenes there was endless discussion and very little actually happening which was dull.
Never mind though - the ending had enough action for the whole book and as I closed it I was glad I persevered to the end. I will not be reading any more Irin Chronicles though as the characters other than Ava and Malachi have not interested me enough to continue.

I'll just say..WOW what an amazing ending!

I was quite disappointed with the second one and it took me a while to get over my sadness. The second one, The Singer , had to live up to the epic perfection of the first one, The Scribe, and that was no easy feat.
The Secret more than made up for The Singer's pitfalls, I can tell you that!
I loved how this felt like a new book, Hunter did not reiterate EVERY aspect of the Irin/Irina history and the people. We got to explore many new things that I hope she revisits since she said she's not done with the Irin people!
This book had a few pacing issues because Elizabeth Hunter tried to fit so many revelations and new ideas into one book that I sometimes felt like things weren't moving along, like we were just getting new info but not doing anything about it. I only felt that about once and it picked up soon after!
Ava and Malachi will forever be one of my favourite couples I've read because of their bond and their true understanding of one another. They are such a beautiful couple and so well written that I felt their pain and their yearning. I loved that not only did they deal with supernatural issues, they dealt with real 'couple' problems as well.

I’m not in the mood to write a long review.
This one is an excellent adult fantasy series/chronicles.
The story, the world building is unusual and for once, we’ve got a wonderful hero who experienced the unthinkable to be with the heroine. ❤️
It started with the heroine who have been told she have a mental illness because she hear voices since forever. Lucky for her she have rich parents, so she doesn’t need to end up in a mental hospital.
In one of her trip to try to get better and find another psychiatrist for a consultation, she went to Istanbul, there she found the greatest shock of her life, everything that she knew smashed to pieces.
The good thing about this? She actually wasn’t crazy at all!
Well, that’s all you need to know, you can read the book!:)
This one could easily get 5 stars from me, but I really hate the last big war scenes, hated it!
I felt sick to see the victims! It felt like watching a horror movie!
But it does end up with a bang!!
Oh well, it was a fantastic read!

What a lovely ending to this series! Irin Chronicles always had a captivating, vivid world-building as a background to the unique story of scribes, angels & Grigori. As a plus it's set in Europe not in North America or UK, and the reader can enjoy hopping on a train and travelling from Istanbul to Italy to Vienna and many other locations without feeling like he is crossing big cultural and territorial borders. Europe is compact, cosy and utterly charming, and the author passes that charm onto us amazingly well.
I was relieved that Ava & Malachi finally found each other and rediscovered their deep soul bond. It was lovely to see it click back into place as soon as the scribe regained all his memories.
The Secret was also a book of many revelations. Not only Ava finally met her grandmother and learnt about her roots, the whole Irin race had to re-evaluate what it knew about the Fallen and their children. And I am glad. I love that Elizabeth never separates her characters into black and white when she can blur the borders between heroes and villains and leave us reeling. *grins*
Now, Vienna. It was my favourite part of the book and it was magnificent! While I was secretly hoping for more descriptions of the pastries and coffee (if it's anything like Budapest, they should be absolutely delicious), it's the Council headquarters which grabbed my attention straight away as they were described lavishly. Throughout the whole book we were also slowly discovering the extent of angelic intrigues and the reasons behind them, until it all boiled down to a one brutal and epic battle.
Overall, while The Secret starts slowly, it gains momentum pretty fast until at some point you realise that you can't stop reading until the very end. I'm also extremely relieved to know that the story will continue in various spin-offs as I was not ready to say goodbye to such a beautiful world, and to its many familiar characters. Definitely recommended, enjoy!

I'm a little torn about how to rate this book.
The first two thirds were really, really slow. So much talking, strategizing, traveling... politics, secrets... Sure, the previous books weren't an action fest either, and the whole series stood out from the mass of PNR with its placid and graceful writing style, but at least in the prequels, there was lots of stuff going on. In a nutshell: I was bored most of the time. I still loved the majority of the characters and Ava and Malachi made my heart melt everytime they were alone, but, honestly, it was kind of a struggle to get through.
What saved the book from a bad rating, though, was the last 30% or so. As soon as the action finally started, I was a goner. The final battle was thrilling (albeit somewhat confusing what with the switching POVs every few sentences) and I couldn't read fast enough to find out what was going to happen next.
I loved the epilogue, if you can call it that. It was more a series of little snippets out of some of the characters' lives after everything that had transpired in Vienna. The ending was beautiful and very satisfying, while still leaving a few things unresolved - which is a good thing, since the author is apparently done with Ava and Malachi, but not with the Irin's story as a whole.
My favorite character? Jaron, by far. He kind of reminded me of the Red King from the Fire Spirits series. I just can't express how much I love ambiguous and ambivalent characters with a more or less hidden agenda. You never know whether to trust them or not, if they are ally or enemy, and that makes a story so much more exciting for me.
I can't wait to read more about the Irin, hopefully with one of the Istanbul Scribes as a main character. Rhys, maybe? Pretty please?

I SAT DOWN one morning in July with a steamy cup of coffee and The Secret with the intent of reading a chapter, or two at most. Somehow, I ended up hours later with the last sip of my coffee long taken, the breakfast dishes untouched in the sink, and an overflowing basket of laundry begging for my attention. Fortunately, it wasn’t a complete waste of a day. I’d like to think of it as feeding my imagination – a crucial skill for any designer. You understand, don’t you hubby? 😉
The Secret, by Elizabeth Hunter, is a fantastic last book to end the Irin Chronicles trilogy. I thought I had Ms. Hunter figured out – that she builds her story slowly to conclude with a BANG! I was so happily wrong. The Secret is engaging from the start. She draws you into the story with love, valor, and redemption, and maintains a consistent and exciting storyline that will have your heart racing time and time again as it unfolds.
Ava and Malachi’s love for one another has helped them survived some of their hardest days. But, the darkest days has yet to come. With Malachi still recovering his memories of the warrior he was once, and Ava continuing to uncover the secrets of her origin (btw, the secret is huge), can they discover the light to save their dying race (actually races because of said secret)? The answers lie with a group of powerful allies, but to surrender them, they want the Irin to play a pivotal role in their own agenda. Meanwhile time is running out as the Grigori forces descend upon Vienna and the Irin world to once and for all annihilate the entire race.
The story is very engaging in many respects: flow of action, unveiling of secrets, etc. My favorite has to be the ambiguity of how Ms. Hunter presents the notion of good verses evil; that is, the two camps are not mutually exclusive. Can a Grigori be heroic? What if an Irin murders? Many times I thought I knew who was friend and who was foe, but Ms. Hunter kept me guessing until the very end.
While The Secret is the conclusion of Ava and Malachi’s journey, I’m thrilled that Ms. Hunter is not quite ready to leave the Irin world just yet. She still has many stories to tell. I do hope that Ava and Malachi will return as guests in those stories. Nevertheless, they and others will be fondly remembered.

Well there were several 'secrets" to this story and I really can't tell you about any of them since I don't do spoilers.
Ava and Malachi continue putting their relationship back together after the events of previous books. The enemy Fallen become a bit murky where some of their motivations actually lie (this started giving me a headache). There are plots within plots here.
Ava has the power to bring Malachi's power back to some unknown extent but she is still holding back (this was somewhat frustrating) and there are secrets about Ava's mother/father/grandfather (more headaches).
The Angel of Death makes an appearance or two which to me added another dimension to this story that was not overdone as I am sure the temptation was there since I would have done it (add another reason why I am not a writer).
The ending was done exceptionally well, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the author took the time to pretty much close all the threads of this story.
The only thing I might say in somewhat of a negative vein is that I have read three books in a row where the author has let her own passions for something (horses in the others, Elizabeth almost let this become a travelogue in a couple of places since she likes to travel) but it was nothing major but overdone descriptions are a pet peeve of mine dating all the way back to Lord of the Rings mind-numbing descriptions of rocks and terrain.
Bottom Line: It was a great finish to Ava and Malachi's story. The ending was done much better than I expected in closing all those loose ends while still leaving a couple of things that can be used for spin-off stories. A few pages of overdone descriptions IMHO but a minor complaint. Understand that this is primarily an Urban Fantasy but as with all of Elizabeth Hunter's books it has a large romantic element to it which adds a bit more depth than many such works would without that romance. Highly recommended 4.5 Stars rounded to 5

Hunter brought the scenes with the Angels, councils, and the battles to life. I am loving two particular Angels and hope we see more of them, one you know of as Death and the other sometimes takes the form of an innocent pet. You’ll have to listen to discover for yourself. Spoilers darling!
We see growth from our characters, say goodbye to some and watch friendships and relationships strengthen and develop.
The romance throughout this three-piece saga was swoon-worthy and the author certainly kept me listening as I need my happily-ever-after damn it!
The overall story ARC of these first three novels wrapped up, but threads have yet to be resolved and many Irin Scribes are unmated. There are seven books and a novella with two narrator changes.
Zachary Webber narrates the first three and became the voices of these characters. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, this is some of his finest narration work. From the opening lines to the very last page, I was bound by the magic of Elizabeth Hunter's The Secret. The apprehension I was feeling over knowing this book would wrap up Ava & Malachi's story line vanished, as their story unfolded in an achingly beautiful way that only Hunter can deliver. She truly has a magical gift of rendering a story that will touch your spirit & soul, leaving you satisfied and yet longing for more.
The Secret finds Ava & Malachi reunited, searching for her roots - the truth of her bloodline & magic, and the key to recovering more of Malachi's memories. With Ava's father, Jasper, refusing to give them answers, they begin a search for Ava's grandmother, amid warnings of a dark secret, so unthinkable, so impossible that learning the truth may be more than Ava can bear. It's very difficult to discuss The Secret without giving away...well, secrets! Suffice to say this story is hauntingly beautiful, delivered in a lyrical manner typical of Hunter. At times, the verse is like an addictive melody stealing into your mind, drugging you with its refrain. The characters are bold - alive with color...truly a visual experience. Ava is a worthy heroine, capable of standing on her own but graceful in her need of her mate. Malachi is a warrior without the arrogance - always, always protective of his mate, yet accepting of her differences & power. Together, they are so much more as they join forces with a diverse supporting cast to face the ultimate challenge.
The Secret is a magical love story, a story of offering & assenting redemption through grace, a story of embracing one's fate & destiny. Hunter is a master weaver, picking up threads from the previous books, mixing in new vivid lines of love, hope, angst, betrayal, & destiny and weaving them all together into a beautiful, intense, powerful explosion that climaxes on the pages in a fireball of revelations. It is a magical & mythical, breathtaking spiritual-like experience. A perfect ending to a perfect series. A Page Burner! I loved every single word. It will reside on my Favorites 2015 Shelf!

The apprehension I was feeling over knowing this book would wrap up Ava & Malachi's story line vanished, as their story unfolded in an achingly beautiful way that only Hunter can deliver. She truly has a magical gift of rendering a story that will touch your spirit & soul, leaving you satisfied and yet longing for more.
The Secret finds Ava & Malachi reunited, searching for her roots - the truth of her bloodline & magic, and the key to recovering more of Malachi's memories. With Ava's father, Jasper, refusing to give them answers, they begin a search for Ava's grandmother, amid warnings of a dark secret, so unthinkable, so impossible that learning the truth may be more than Ava can bear. It's very difficult to discuss The Secret without giving away...well, secrets! Suffice to say this story is hauntingly beautiful, delivered in a lyrical manner typical of Hunter. At times, the verse is like an addictive melody stealing into your mind, drugging you with its refrain. The characters are bold - alive with color...truly a visual experience. Ava is a worthy heroine, capable of standing on her own but graceful in her need of her mate. Malachi is a warrior without the arrogance - always, always protective of his mate, yet accepting of her differences & power. Together, they are so much more as they join forces with a diverse supporting cast to face the ultimate challenge.
The Secret is a magical love story, a story of offering & assenting redemption through grace, a story of embracing one's fate & destiny. Hunter is a master weaver, picking up threads from the previous books, mixing in new vivid lines of love, hope, angst, betrayal, & destiny and weaving them all together into a beautiful, intense, powerful explosion that climaxes on the pages in a fireball of revelations. It is a magical & mythical, breathtaking spiritual-like experience. A perfect ending to a perfect series. A Page Burner! I loved every single word. It will reside on my Favorites 2015 Shelf!

4.5 stars. Taking the story to places I did not expect. So imaginative and spiritual.
This is an impossibly beautiful story. I could never have imagined the series taking this kind of turn. I relished every moment. Of course, there is the beautiful love story between Ava and Malachi. It brings an ache to my heart. However, I’m also taken in by the larger story arc featuring the Forgiven, the Forgotten, and the Gregori. This story is about redemption and grace and I’m in awe of how Elizabeth Hunter put it all together.
Even before the Irin and the Gregori, there were the angels. They came to earth to do God’s work. Angels do not feel; they are not emotional. However, they are fascinated and seduced by human emotion. They angels went against God by mating and having children. Those that accepted God’s forgiveness left their children and returned back to Heaven after leaving the children their history and legacy. These angels are the Forgiven and the children are the Irin. Those angels that stayed are the Forgotten and their children, the Gregori. Lines are established between enemies and for a millennia or more, they battle for human lives. But what do they know about each other? How much longer will they continue to battle? What is going on between the Forgotten arch angels behind the scenes?
In my opinion, few people can write a sense of longing like Elizabeth Hunter. She superbly captures the pain, ache, desire, and yearning of loss. This is what drew me to this series, and what keeps me coming back for more. The love story between Ava and Malachi continues and it is precious. Even though they love one another, after her devastating loss and his memory gaps, they have learn to live in love again. We are again reminded that this is something special: “Their union was a reflection of the peace he’d seen. Holy and wholly.”
This story is complex filled with political maneuvering, redrawn lines of friends and enemies, and an epic battle that is so devastating that it leaves a haunting impression on the reader. There isn’t much more I can say without giving too much away. You just have to experience it yourself.

A complex tapestry, this story inspires deep emotions and is breath-taking. The perfect end to this trilogy, Elizabeth Hunter truly out does herself with this one.

LOVED LOVED LOVED EVERY SINGLE WORD! Amazing. Elizabeth Hunter can do no wrong. EVER. What a fanfreakintastic end to Ava & Malachi's story. And I'm SO HAPPY that EH will be continuing with more future stories from this Irin world and I cannot wait to dive into them all.

5 Stars... Beautiful, simply beautiful... Ava's and Malachi's story comes to a climactic ending with the revelation of many secrets and their impact on the Irin and Grigori races... A war is brewing and answers must be found in order to control the fallout... As these secrets are revealed, the Irin and Grigori races combine forces to end the tyrannical rule of the Fallen Archangels... Centuries of hatred and loss is set aside to battle the presenting evil... In an epic ending that leaves more questions to be answered, Elizabeth Hunter takes her readers on a journey of forgiveness and the overwhelming power of love... I was truly touched by the beauty of Ava's and Malchi's story and look forward to my continued journey with the many characters whose stories are still untold.:)

Me after reading this series:
People, this is the way books should be written.
This series is a complete master piece. I loved every single word of it.
I fell in love with the whole story, with each characters, the plot, setting, even with the covers.
Ms. Hunter created a world and characters I will never forget, neither their stories. I'm sad 'cause Ava and Malachi's story is over but infinitely glad the author is not done with the Irin and Grigori worlds. There's so much we still need to know from it.
The ending... I think is the part I loved the most. It wasn't rushed. It was beautiful.

It took me a while to finish this book. The first 60% was dull. The battle was rushed, and there wasn't enough Ava and Malachi for my liking...

4 stars for the big finish
Wow, what a rollercoaster this story has been. Both an intense and passionate soulmate romance, and a well-developed and in-depth paranormal adventure with strong political themes, this a big story, and there’s a lot going on in this book.
This is the third book of The Irin Chronicles series, the final book of Ava and Malachi’s story, and it absolutely cannot be read as a standalone. We’ve seen Ava and Malachi meet, fall in love, and face unimaginable trauma as Ava has been introduced to a world that she had no idea existed, and we’re now ready to get answers and watch these two, and their friends, fight for their happy ending.
Malachi and Ava are recovering from the events of the previous book. They’re together and they’re committed, but they have so much to work through together, and still a lot of serious personal issues that they need to deal with. While they’re doing that, fallen angels are returning, their enemies are closing in, and the return of the Irina threatens to destabilise the Irin world. Questions are answered and there are big secrets uncovered, and as it all builds to an exciting finale, Malachi and Ava need to confront the darkness and embrace their growing power to survive the big battle.
There’s a lot that happens, a lot of new characters introduced, and a lot of information thrown at you in this book. I admit, there were parts that were a bit confusing trying to keep everything straight in my head. Most of the book is a slow build up with lots of talking, plotting and reveals, and it’s not until the end that we get some action and even then, there’s multiple perspectives which brings a chaotic feel. But overall, I did enjoy this story. I love seeing the changes in the world of the Irin, there are some fantastic moments of badassery, and Ava and Malachi, their strength and their love for each other, shine through it all.
I finished this book feeling satisfied with the journey. The loose ends are tied up, or create a nice lead-in to the continuation of the series with books for some of the side characters. It’s an enjoyable read, and though it didn’t hold that epic feeling that I had from the first book in the series, I still loved this story, and I’m really excited to continue on with the series.

I listened to this as an audiobook, and like the earlier books, it’s narrated by Zachary Webber. He does an amazing job with Ava and Malachi, but in this book he’s amazing as he brings in so many different voices and accents for so many different side characters. He brought the story to life, and I loved listening to this one.

Hmm. Well, I can't say I'm completely satisfied. I love EVERYTHING Elizabeth Hunter writes. This series has been my favorite to date. It is so original, so detailed, so beautiful, so magical. I waited and waited until the conclusion of Ava & Malachi's story came out. And now, I'm just *meh*.
Pros:
-Detail.The attention to detail is fantastic. One of my bucket list goals is to go visit Turkey and all its glory. The world building Hunter creates is fantastic and makes me wish I could hop on a plane right this second.
-Strong women. Every single female character that Hunter creates is a strong woman in her own way. They are, for lack of a better word, kick-ass. They don't change once they fall in love, they don't hide behind their partner's backs, they stand tall and strong and always, ALWAYS maintain that trait throughout the length of her books. They have their flaws, and I love how Hunter brings them to light. I love that their strengths shine throughout the books but that their weaknesses are complimented by the strengths of the characters around them.
-Camaraderie. I love the relationship that Ava develops with the other characters. This series (and now that I think of it, pretty much all of Hunter's series) doesn't only focus on the relationship between Ava and Malachi. There are real relationships that are formed between the main characters and the characters that support them.
-Loose ends. Are there any loose ends? No. Not really. Every question I had throughout the series was pretty much answered.
-Originality. This story is so original. I've read lots of books with similar concepts, but this one is my favorite.
-Writing. The writing is superb, as always.

I mean, come on. That quote up there is a perfect example of the beauty that Elizabeth creates.
And now...
Cons:
-The length. Yes, I want to binge read anything Hunter publishes or writes. I want it ALL. However, this book felt extremely long and there were scenes I felt could have been omitted because IMO they added no real value to the purpose or direction of this book. To the series, yes. To the book, no. These scenes, which I enjoyed, could have been released as some sort of teaser or deleted scene for those of us who want more Ava & Malachi after the series was completed.
-The characters. WHAT HAPPENED?!?! In the first two books I was so invested in these characters. I laughed when they laughed, felt anxious when they did, mourned when they did... and this time? I felt that they were totally diminished. What I love about Hunter's other books and series was the complexity of her characters. They become REAL to me. They are not just black and white ink but real people. Not just the protagonists either, but ALL of her characters. Unfortunately, this book was lacking that wonderful layering of characters.
Confusing Do I like complex story lines with lots of characters that play important parts in the whole story in general and weave into one another? Yes. I love it. I don't want some cookie cutter book. Hunter is a fantastic world-builder. There is no stone left unturned with her. But shit, this book was confusing as hell. I couldn't keep up with all the names of these new characters + the old, plus what they did millennia ago, plus who belonged to what, and who isn't talking to who, and who should have done this or that. I had to reread multiple passages in order to understand what the heck was going on, and normally I LOVE books that keep me on my toes and make me wonder and scratch my head. But this wasn't the good kind of wondering. This was a "I have no idea what's going on and I've reread this more than 2 times and so I'm just going to keep going in hopes that it makes sense later."
-The finale. Talk about a *womp womp*. All I could think when I read the last sentence was NOOOOO. And I don't mean NOOOO in the sense that I was unhappy with the turn of events. I mean NOOOO in the sense that the writing felt rushed, it felt quick, and it felt like your standard run of the mill conclusion. I expected more. I expected to FEEL and unfortunately I did not get any of the feels.
Will I continue to read Hunter's future work? Absolutely. Do I still consider her one of my favorite authors? Absolutely. I look forward to whatever she comes out with next, and hopefully I will be able to say that this was just a hard book to write and tough series to conclude. Until next time...

Okay – first off I have to say that my first feeling upon finishing this book was disappointment.
I. Was. Disappointed.
BUT (come back, Elizabeth! We can still be besties!) that disappointment was because this really does end the arc for Muh-LAH-chee (I CANNOT HELP MYSELF!) and Ava. That makes me sad. I want to know more!
The second feeling (I’m making an open-faced sandwich here; or a sandwich with the delicious cheese on the bottom, the meat of criticism in the middle, and a tiny layer of…deceptively positive…avocados? on top. this metaphor was long, unwieldy, and poorly constructed.) was a gut stab of irritation/chagrin about a referenced sexual assault. This was due to outside influences, and on further review, I’ve decided that the referenced assault furthered the story and helped develop the characters, and did not detract at all from the plot or main character development. So, my criticism-meat was very, very thin. And probably did not even need to be mentioned.
Now for the cheese portion of my sandwich. (Cheese is my favorite and so is the best part of any review.)
As I stated in my cover reveal post, my intro to Ms. Hunter (I’m being all formal again until she forgives me for my sandwich metaphor) was with this series and I loved Ava and the Italian (he’s not Italian) since the first pages.
The chemistry they build together was not shattered in this last installment. The way they had to rebuild, in fact, in the wake of their [forced] separation and weird amnesia issues seemed natural – as much as anything like that could be.
Finding out all the fun secrets (oh, I wonder where that title came from?) about Ava’s past and my desire to kick certain members of her family in anatomically sensitive places kept me up past my bedtime.
I love the world-building that Elizabeth has done, both in this series and in her others. She is a master of magical realism, unlike some others that I’ve recently read, and having sorted though a lot of dreck lately makes me appreciate even more how well she wields a pen.
The other thing I really *really* appreciate is that Ava doesn’t cease to be her own person when she enters a relationship. In fact, I’ve seen no evidence that any of Elizabeth’s characters do that. She writes – GASP – strong female characters.
There are a lot of characters, but they are so nuanced that it’s not a problem to keep track of each of the more prominent ones as well as their various personalities. The best part about that? It makes me feel that there could be (read: NEED TO BE) more books in this particular world.

Love. Lots of it. I love this book and this series almost as much as I love everyone’s favorite Hawaiian shirt wearing Welsh vampire.

The Secret is probably more aptly named 'The Secrets' and those secrets are game changing for the Irin/Irina, and the truth behind them answers most of the questions that have been dangling in the previous two books.
I really liked The Secret and the way that things came together- we've been given peeks into the angels' plotting and their goals finally become clear as they finish moving Ava and the Irin in into place with Joran and his allies and enemies makimg their moves in the endgame.
As to Ava and Malachi's story, Ava's making a recovery the trauma of the first book and her PTSD of the second book, so I was able to enjoy having them together again and was no longer put off by the fact that Malachi was not the man he was before. Thankfully, together they are able to help him regain himself and there are some very nice moments for the pair and their story is wrapped up with a very satisfying HEA.
But when all is said and done, 'The Secret' is a doozy and is about more than just Ava, and lays groundwork for future books. There are intriguing new characters and the truth that is revealed has me looking for more from the world of the Irin Chronicles.

Elizabeth Hunter saved the best for the last. This book finally delivered the answers to the questions that I have grappled with since book 1. It's nice to have a story finally draw together all the loose ends.
Ava and Malachi experience a role reversal, as Ava found herself trying to help Malachi rediscover his past and his history. It was nice to finally see them as a couple and dreaming together. My favorite sentence was "I am for Ava!" I think that sentence encompassed all!
What I loved best about this book was that Love and Family was front and center. Everything boiled down to relationships. I was so engaged in the audiobook. I finally saw what others have been saying about Elizabeth Hunter's storytelling. This book delivered action, romance, great plot etc. I was pleased with the conclusion, but even more so with the fact that I know it's not the end. I can't wait for the other Irin to find their mates.

DNF around halfway (even during my 2025 reread) because SQUIRREL. But really, though, the temporary lift on my dislike for contemporary, paranormal urban fantasy was bound to end sometime. The fact that I loved The Scribe so much despite it being a mix of all my lest favorite genres should really attest to how much action the series started with. Until it didn't, that is, and it became politicky and endless talk for most the book.
Did Malachi's and Ava's story end epically? Apparently. So who knows. "It's not you. It's me." Now Dobby is free and on to something I'm interested in.

Wrapped the trilogy up nicely- an added star for this alone. But thats just it. It was too nice. Add Lots of meetings and strategic "talks"- a convenient and lazy way to info dump imo- and...I was bored through most of it. :/

Audio review: WOW!!! This series is freaking epic! I don’t usually listen to paranormal romance but this book kept coming up and being recommended I took it as a sign and went for it and I’m so glad I did!
The story really builds the characters and this world up. An epic story that includes love, danger, excitement. The narrater did his best I have heard yet! There are many characters from around the world who meet and have group conversations, each with their own accent and he pulls it off flawlessly! It really is quite amazing. I usually stay away from books w/ accents bc they usually don’t sound great but this narrator slays numerous different accents, along w/ such feeling and performance, within single conversations! So so good!
3rd in the series! 1st 3 go together and the next two are about different characters and stand alones.

Hope and Purpose
I think that these two words sum up this book and trilogy as well. It’s truly what we all need - and this is ever so true in the saga of Ava and Malachi.
They have know the hugest joy and the deepest sorrow. In this conclusion of their story we find the answers to so many questions. I love how even though there were earth shattering (almost literally) answers - they never wavered in their love and commitment to each other. Did they fight - YES - Did they have issues to work through - YES.
The story wasn’t all hearts and flowers and there were decisions that affected the whole of the Irin world. The battle was epic - and so much was as resolved - but so much is yet to be explored. So glad that Irin Journey will continue.

When I read an entire series it's so hard to write a review. When I love and author, writing the review is even harder.
The truth is I love this book and I love this series. Elizabeth has a way of writing a book that will pull you into the world so deeply that if you never set foot in any of the places she writes about you will feel like you were there. This book was amazing from start to finish. She weaved a tale so intricate that I felt like when this story ended I lost a couple of best friends.
Ava has become my favorite female heroine because she overcame so much and she shined in this book and her strength was encouraging. Malachi was amazing he was the perfect Alpha male and showed how much he loved and cared for his reshon in this book.
This book answered all of my questions it didn't leave me wondering. The action and romance in this book was so amazing that I wasn't able to put this book down from the moment I picked it up. This was the perfect ending to a great series and I can't wait to pick up whatever she puts out next because in the end I know that it will be great.

This was the conclusion of Ava and Malachi's story. There was a lot going on in this book. And a lot of people/angels/beings. That in itself was the only thing that was hard about this book, keeping track of who's with who and what's what. As for the actual story, I loved it. The development of Ava and Malachi's relationship was beautiful to read. As always, Elizabeth Hunter knows how to write a good story.
