This book completely surprised me in the best way—it’s emotional, messy, and so easy to get invested in.

The premise already has a lot going on, but it never feels overwhelming. Instead, it creates this really strong emotional core right from the start. You can feel the main character’s need to run, to protect herself, and to keep control of everything—and that makes her journey feel incredibly real.

And then there’s Drew… who is basically the exact kind of chaos she doesn’t want—but exactly what she needs. He’s charming, a little reckless, but also surprisingly steady when it matters most. The way he shows up for her, especially when she doesn’t ask for it, is what really makes this story hit.

Their dynamic is where the book shines. It starts off tense and a little chaotic (the cinnamon roll situation?? honestly iconic 😅), but slowly shifts into something softer and more meaningful. The fake dating and forced proximity add that fun rom-com layer, but underneath it is a story about trust, healing, and letting someone in.

What I loved most is how natural the emotional development feels. Nothing is rushed. Every moment—from the banter to the quieter, more vulnerable scenes—builds toward that deeper connection.

If you enjoy:
fake dating with emotional depth
unexpected pregnancy tropes
grumpy/sunshine energy
protective, caring love interests
slow-burn feelings with soft payoff

…this is definitely worth reading.

Overall: heartfelt, a little chaotic, and full of those soft moments that sneak up on you. I was completely invested by the end 💛✨

Cute short read

This was a cute short love story. I love Drew. I read the series backwards so I knew his personality from the second book. I love how he love so deep. He has quiet love where it isn't a big dramatic display but just want you need. He was perfect for Sloane who never had that type of love. He helped her to find herself again and she made him feel truly seen for all the changes he made in himself.I really enjoyed this love story.

What the what?

This book was a mess! Formatting, typos, continuity, everything.
She arrived in March, three months after she broke up with Marcus and she said they weren't together in the last weeks of their relationship. Yet, she is due in January with his baby? No.

Also...she went back to work SEVEN DAYS AFTER HAVING A BABY!? Also, no.

The timeline was painfully contradictory.

Did not enjoy.

Sloane is running from her life. She is also a runaway bride among other things. She was volunteered to head up the Spring Festival committee something she was doing before she came here to Meadow Creek. She is placed with Drew who is the owner of the diner. They are thrown together and magic happens.

This heartfelt story is charming and had me connecting with Sloane and Drew. She left her life behind and runs into a new dilemma. I loved the dynamics between Sloane and Drew and when her ex arrives how he provides support.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fake dating, enemies to lovers romance.

Sloane and Drew are a great couple, and Bella did a good job of telling their story.

I highly recommend this one! :)
