Ms. Lorraine's story is the perfect over 40 novella that ties in so many characters from her Cinnamon Grove World.
I really enjoyed that. I also wanted to know what happened at the Supper Club that night, but I appreciate the mystery and can definitely use my own active imagination.
The great thing about being over 50 is that your life, by then, is usually your own and you care less about other's opinions and run out of f**ks to give. I love that Lorraine was bold and unapologetic about what she wanted and her choices. I was side-eyeing Julius because I thought he was too extreme, but wound up liking him.
Thanks for seeing us (I'm 59) and writing a great story showing us finding love, enjoying great sex, and showing how just like a fine wine, we get better with time. I'm definitely going to read The Black Wife Effect now.
Stumbled up on this novella randomly on threads and decided to read it off the authors post. Really glad I did. Reading about an early 50s FMC being the love interest was a breath of fresh air. And Ms. Lorraine was a fun character to follow. Going in blind on this book I had no expectations however the plot was good for a novella it flowed well. A good quick read. The author has me intrigued with the town of Cinnamon Grove and I want to read more about the people who live there.
I have held this story a little closer, as I almost lost my husband to a bone infection a few years ago, and had to face what my life could possibly look like without him. People ask "is he your 'person'?" and I don't know how to answer that because I don't think we get only one chance at Love - all I DO know is, I have been blessed with what T.L. Martin says in the Dedication section of the book;
"To the women who refuse to let their fire go cold. For those who have been through hell and back and still crave a love that leaves them breathless in the dark. May you find a man who isn't intimidated by your history, but hungry for every chapter of it. It’s about time you found your heaven—and let it be a slow, delicious burn."
This book has a reverse age gap, in that Julian (such a great name) is much younger than Lorraine. As his mother says toward the end of the book; "Lorraine is the youngest fifty-three-year-old I’ve ever met,” she told him with a wink. “And she’s exactly the earthquake you needed to shake the dust off your life.”
Julian is a high school basketball coach, who has a one night stand with Lorraine (Timantha's mom from The Black Wife Effect series) only to then be in charge of her community service at the youth center he runs. Of course, more shenanigans ensue! Grab the book to learn ALL about this! 😃
There ARE open door intimate scenes.
Lastly as T.L. Martin writes - "It’s never too late for a late-in-life love. Sometimes, you just have to be brave enough to let your world catch fire so you can see who stays to help you build something better from the ash."
Love after 50 has always been a good thing that was rarely talked about. Ms Lorraine, is THAT woman who reminds those 50+, that life and love are still out there for you. Taking the risk was worth it for her. What began as a "one time walk on the wild side" brought a new air of magic into her life.
The reverse "age-gap" was priceless and happened in a way that didn't label Ms. Lorraine as desperate and needy. Ms Lorraine reminded everyone that she still takes care of herself, her body and is thriving in her over 50+ life.
Now Julian, well let's just say he needed to get over his "high and mighty" to see the goodness that was waiting for him.
This is a quick and fun read, that reminds us that age "ain't nothing but a number!
I really enjoyed this one. I love seeing a reverse age gap where the heroine is over 50 and still getting genuine, grown‑folks chemistry. This story doesn’t obsess over body parts or try to make the age gap weird — he’s clearly attracted to her, she’s clearly attracted to him, and the sparks fly naturally.
It also gives a nice grumpy–sunshine dynamic. He’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, working hard, focused, a little closed‑off and Lorraine is a balm to all of that. She softens him without trying, and he steadies her in return.
A quick, warm, satisfying read that hits the spot..
This is the first age gap romance that I’ve read where the woman is older than the man. I loved that the word cougar wasn’t used at all in the story.
Julian and Lorraine meet at s sex club that’s by invite only. After spending a night together, they become enthralled with each other. Then a situation happens and Julian is angered by Lorraine’s actions.
The rest of the book is about how their relationship develops. I really enjoyed this novella that I borrowed from Kindle Unlimited.
I loved this Novella and it is definitely a charged read. I love the unfolding of the characters and that it isn’t what you would think. I love Ms.Lorraine and her adventures spirit. I hope to be adopted into a group with the spirit of Ms.Lorraine and Ms. Janet. And more stories of living a life we chose, instead of one we settle on. Until the next read
Age ain't nothing but a number, and Lorraine is ageless. She's a fun-loving, carefree 50 something. She wasn't always like that, but after life, situations decided to live life on her terms.
It was great to read a book where the woman was older than the man. This was an enjoyable quick read. Some lovable characters from other books also make appearances.
I’ve wanted Ms. Lorraine’s story since our first meeting in The Black Wife Effect and bay-beeeeee this was it! Reverse age gap, lover to semi-enemy back to lovers and dark chocolate (both kinds 😉). I devoured this book and you will too! Taccara, I am a fan for life!
I trulwy Love Ms. Lorraine's chacter. She is living her life and enjoying it. I have caught a few peeks of her in the Black Wife Effect series that had me laughing til tears. Great story. Not to late for love...young love at that! Laugh, tear up and and gets steamy!
Thank you for writing a book about grown People Doing good grown things. I enjoyed this book so much. I love to see the friendships and relationships, blooming and cultivating. I love the friends and families that you put together. I love cinnamon grove.I would love to visit there. This was a good time.
Reverse age gap, cultural trauma, a mother’s wisdom, and dark chocolate… all seems like a bunch of gibberish butttttt in this story it all makes sense and I love it. Another 5 start read.
SOLD Ms. Martin‼️….Yup, “Signed, Sealed Delivered, I’m Yours”: Ms. Black Wife Effect architect🤷🏾♀️🤩🤭‼️ Meanwhile, “Ms. Lorraine’s Late To Love: A Reverse Age/Gap Novella from the World of The Black Wife Effect - Book 1 was entertaining, hilarious & enlightening. More so, the journey of Lorraine & Julian was a great read💖. I appreciated Lorraine & Julian’s romantic interests & or relationship wasn’t cliche. Nevertheless, TCH liberation movement was Saturday Night Live classic comedy 😂🤣‼️👏🏿👏🏾👏🏽👏🏼🤩
This was a cute, quick read. Julian irritated me so much though lol. I understand loving your mama and wanting to protect her, but he did waaaaay too much LOL. Still enjoyed this regardless of Julian’s ways 🤣
She is one of the best writers I know! I love how she writes! It’s dramatic without high school drama. It sexy without over sharing. Ms Lorraine made me laugh and also pick up my big girl pants to not take shit from anyone.
This was so good!! I saw/see so much of myself in Lorraine. I’ve met her in the other Black Wife Effect books and to finally get her story was refreshing. Thank you for showing how great love and life can be after 40.
This novella was quick, sweet, emotional, and proof that love doesn’t have an expiration date. The chemistry? Beautiful. The vibes? Cozy and uplifting. And now I absolutely need more from this world immediately.
