This brief guide takes you from a first-time MTG player, with a simple break down of how to play, to a well-versed player with broad knowledge of the game by gathering information from various public forums and personal experience and making it all available in one place. The language of this publication progressively includes more terms specific to the game so new players can obtain a full understanding without getting overwhelmed.
I used to play Magic: the Gathering when I was in high-school, but that was in 1993 to 1996. I had forgotten everything about how to play this game as I had not played it since then. Now, at the age of 42, I want to play again. I bought some cards and didn't have any idea about how to play. I've read some about the game online, watched a few videos on YouTube, and played Magic Arena on the computer. Then I read this book and now I finally have a more thorough understanding of how to play the game. I haven't played with my new cards yet but now I am ready to play with my husband as well as play against others at the local game store. Thank you for writing this book.
Good for new players. Without clutter but a bit expensive
The book is nice. It clearly states without confusion how to play the game and it's various elements. But it never will make you adept at playing the game. I find the book flowing in a good manner. But at Rs. 228, I feel it is very short. The author could have explained the various formats in which the game is played, described most common abilities and how they play etc. Also there are two errors in the starting... The author says that there are 7 card types. But names only 6.
