Two corporate pros. One high-stakes documentary. A coastal love story where ambition and heart collide.

Piper Presley has spent years chasing her dreams of stardom, and she’s this close to making it big. When she returns to charming Big Dune Island to oversee a documentary about her superstar client, she sees it as the perfect launchpad, until local marketing director Wyatt Mason turns every plan upside down.

Wyatt’s easygoing style and deep roots on the island clash with Piper’s polished, big-city strategy. But their chemistry is impossible to ignore.

As they navigate behind-the-scenes drama, a buried scandal threatens everything they’re working toward, including their growing connection. With career-defining choices on the horizon and a hurricane brewing offshore, Piper and Wyatt must decide what really matters…and where home truly is.

Perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Debbie Macomber, and Sherryl Woods, this feel-good escape will leave you swooning, sighing, and smiling long after the last page.

THE STORIES WE TELL by Savannah Carlisle will pull on every one of your emotions from the very first page. This story has so much going on and from the very beginning, I was emotionally invested in every one of the characters. Piper is back on Big Dune Island taking care of her number one client and very good friend, Callie. It is there that she finds herself interacting with Wyatt only it feels like things are changing. Hold on readers, her life changes in ways she could never imagine.

THE STORIES WE TELL will have you holding your breath, waiting for the other shoe to fall. Oh and it does, trust me! Piper has always dreamed of making it big and going to Hollywood. Its been her dream since she was little. But over time, she starts to question her dream and what is really important in her life now. She has a huge career offer in Hollywood and Wyatt doesn’t want to hold her back from living her dream, but he doesn’t want her to leave either. Their friends and the people of Big Dune Island play a big part in Piper and Wyatt’s stories. I love how they always have each other’s backs and are always willing to drop everything when they are needed.

THE STORIES WE TELL is such a beautiful and heartbreaking story that had me wiping my eyes over and over again. If you love Coastal romance, drama and second chances, you will love this perfect story by Savannah Carlisle. I cannot wait to read more of Savannah’s stories. She really tugged on my heart strings and took hold of my emotions right from the very start. I’m not sure if I could have kept going like Callie did after the lies all came out. The surprises and twists and turns will keep you flipping the pages to find out what happens.

I absolutely adored this book! Filled with story, found family, and dreams you didn’t even know that you had, it provides a sweet end to the Big Dune series. This is book four in the Big Dune series and I enjoyed seeing the familiar characters in this book, it was like catching up with old friends. The book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the entire series, it is perfect for summer reading

This is Piper and Wyatt’s story. It explores their relationship. It is sweet but just like real life there are bumps along the way that make you question everything. The biggest question encountered is, “What do you do when you start to think the dream you have been chasing isn’t what you want any more?” Will they have the courage to change their dream? I enjoyed watching them figure it out for themselves and what it meant for their relationship.

Friends and the community of Big Dune Island play a huge part of the story. It is a community I want to visit and be a part of. The way they support each other and the quirky businesses of the town add so much to the story.

I highly recommend this book and the entire Big Dune series. It made my heart happy and left me smiling.

The Stories We Tell | Review
ARC received via NetGalley

The Setup
Piper is a Nashville publicist and Wyatt works for Sharpe Music Group. They've been circling each other for two years while working together for Callie, a country singer based on Big Dune Island. When Wyatt finally asks Piper out, they go on a date, share a kiss—and then Callie lands a documentary deal that puts everything on pause. Piper suggests they keep things professional during filming. Wyatt agrees, but makes it clear he hasn't given up.
The tension underneath all of this: the documentary could open a door to Piper's dream job in Hollywood—an opportunity she sacrificed once before for the wrong man. She's not about to make that mistake again. Or is she making a different kind of mistake by holding back?

What Worked
The Slow Burn Feels Earned Two years of history gives their dynamic real weight. The banter is genuinely good and you can feel the warmth of a relationship that's been quietly building. They clearly want more from each other, but the barriers are self-imposed and believable rather than manufactured drama.
Piper is a Layered Character She's not just waiting to be convinced—she's actively wrestling with who she is now versus who she wanted to be at twenty-two. The recognition that her dreams may have evolved as she's grown is handled with nuance. She's not giving something up; she's figuring out what she actually wants. That's a meaningful distinction and the book earns it.
The Found Family Element Big Dune Island has a real community feel that gradually shifts Piper's perspective in organic ways. The people around her—not just Wyatt—contribute to her growth. That's good writing.
The Callie Subplot Adds Depth The documentary storyline isn't just a plot device to keep Piper and Wyatt apart. Secrets about Callie's past managers and relationships surface and have to be navigated carefully. The resolution—letting the truth out with a message of healing rather than burying it—gives the book something meaningful to say beyond the romance.
The Ending Reversal Without spoiling it, the flip in their positions at the end is satisfying and feels true to both characters. It wasn't predictable, and I appreciated that.

What to Know Going In
It's Sweet and Closed Door A few kisses, no heat. If you need physical tension to feel the romance, this one relies almost entirely on emotional connection and banter.
Piper Waits for Things to Fall Apart Her tendency to brace for disappointment and her wariness about sacrificing her goals for a man are consistent throughout. It can make her feel a little hesitant as a heroine, but it's psychologically honest—and her arc resolves it genuinely.
The Uncertainty Keeps You Reading I wasn't sure they'd actually end up together until near the end, which is a credit to the book. The obstacles feel real, not manufactured.

Final Thoughts
The Stories We Tell is a warm, character-rich romance that has more going on beneath the surface than its breezy pace suggests. Piper and Wyatt are fun to spend time with, the island community gives the story genuine texture, and the slow burn pays off in a way that feels honest rather than convenient. A satisfying read.
Best for: Readers who love sweet, low-heat romance with strong characters, found family vibes, and

Wow. This book had me do a complete 180 when I finished it. I was skeptical whether I would end up liking it at first, but here I am ー I came away not liking it, but LOVING IT. I must say I love it when a book does that.

Since this was my first book in the series, without knowing this was actually the final installment ー I had no idea what to expect. The book opens with candid banter between Piper and Wyatt, with a hint of flirting. It was obvious right from the start that these two had feelings for each other, and I thought this was going to be more like a romantic comedy-ish story. The opening chapter got off to a good start; I was hopeful.

My impression began to shift from positive to slightly negative when the whole documentary stuff came in. Piper, one of the main characters, has always wanted to work in the entertainment industry in LA, and she quickly sees this documentary as an opportunity to advance her career and starts pushing Callie, a country music star, to accept the offer. This was actually the turning point in my regard for Piper.
The negative feeling could have been attributed to not having a clear understanding of any of the characters' backgrounds, but I started feeling that Piper was pressuring Callie despite her hesitation, not because of the potential for Callie's commercial success, but for Piper's own professional ambition. It even made Piper come across as disingenuous.

Piper's controlling nature didn't help improve my impression, either. Again, I did understand it stemmed from her past experiences and upbringing, but the further I went into the book, the less relatable she seemed. There were moments when I seriously considered DNFing it.

However, as the story developed and reached the 60% mark, I finally clicked with it. Through the production of Callie's documentary, both Piper and Wyatt experience an emotional shift; torn between love and career choices, they start to question what they really want and which path to choose. The execution was natural and seamless, skillfully incorporated into the storyline. At this point, I was completely brought around and hooked ー my negative impression of Piper had long been forgotten. I loved how they support and encourage each other to make the right decision in such difficult circumstances. I couldn't wait to see how the story would unfold.

Using the "documentary" and "storytelling" as catalysts, this book explores the emotional journeys of Piper and Wyatt ー the pursuit of their dreams, as well as a sense of belonging and fulfillment.

The last two chapters were absolutely fantastic ー almost magical. The story tied up nicely, leaving no loose ends. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
This is my first book in the series, but it's just come to a close ー I can't believe how I could have missed such a wonderful series? I’m missing Big Dune Island and its community already ー the characters, the scenery, and the stories they weave … this certainly won’t be my last. I’ll definitely come back to the series and start from square one! I'll give this book 4.5 stars.

The Stories We Tell by Savannah Carlisle completely swept me away. This book has everything I love in a coastal romance: emotional depth, strong chemistry, small town charm, and just enough drama to keep the pages turning. I picked it up for the documentary storyline and the opposites attract romance, but I stayed for Piper and Wyatt because their connection felt so natural and believable from the very beginning.

The story follows Piper and Wyatt as they’re forced into close quarters while working around a documentary project in a small island town. Their personalities clash instantly, which made the banter and tension between them so fun to read, but underneath all of that was a lot of emotional vulnerability. Watching their relationship slowly shift from frustration to understanding to something deeper was honestly one of my favorite parts of the book.

I also loved how much atmosphere this story had. The island setting felt cozy and vivid without being overdescribed, and the looming hurricane added this constant sense of tension in the background that made everything feel more emotional. There’s family drama, personal growth, and a lot of heart woven into the romance, which gave the story more depth than I expected going in.

The pacing worked really well for me too. It never dragged, but it also didn’t rush the emotional moments. I felt invested the entire time, especially as more layers of Piper and Wyatt’s pasts started coming out. Their growth felt authentic, and their choices made sense for who they were as characters.

Savannah Carlisle’s writing style is easy to fall into. The dialogue felt natural, the emotional moments landed without feeling overly dramatic, and the chemistry between the characters carried the story effortlessly. It’s one of those books that leaves you smiling after you finish because the ending feels earned and satisfying.

Sometimes a story just gives you exactly the kind of comfort and emotional payoff you want, and this one absolutely did.

I’d definitely recommend this to readers who love emotional small town romances, cozy coastal settings, opposites attract couples, and stories with strong chemistry and family themes. This was such a comforting, feel good read for me.

The story Savannah Carlisle tells in this book is one that most people have to examine at some time or another - what is my dream and am I actually following the dream I want? We find the characters included here are some that we have encountered in previous installations of the Big Dune Island saga, but we focus in on Piper and Wyatt. Both Piper and Wyatt have ended up on Big Dune Island working with a small music production company, though in different capacities. They have an opportunity to tell the second chance story of one of the country's most popular music artists and as they follow this through, they work even more closely together. Their histories affect how they view their dreams and so they struggle to really see the future. The struggle includes trusting enough for honesty and knowing that the one who says they support you really does. Each person's dream changes as they mature and find out more about who they are. This story explores dreams and following those dreams, who family really is, and how we move into a future that is different than we might expect.

As with the previous stories in this series, Savannah Carlisle does a lovely job of showing us the truth about who family is and how they support dreams and ideas. The wit and banter, the showing up when it is needed most, and the exploration of telling the real story that matters in truth creates a story that I wanted to follow to the end. While it did take a bit to really figure out Piper and Wyatt and become interested in their story, I knew I wanted to because I have read the previous Big Dune Island stories. I have seen the beautiful, honest writing that Savannah Carlisle creates and the way she helps bring truth, strength, and beauty to the world.

The Stories We Tell is the fourth and final book in the Big Dune Island series and I loved it just as much as I have loved every book in the series. This really is such a special series and it has truly become one of my favorite.

In this book, we follow Wyatt and Piper as they work on a documentary being filmed about Callie’s professional journey, from her rise to stardom, to the scandal that almost ruined her career, and finally the comeback that helps Callie return to her roots and build a life she is proud of and comfortable in. Wyatt and Piper have a strong professional relationship but those around them see a spark that Wyatt and Piper finally begin to explore. However, along the way, they find that their professional goals might just come between the relationship they are finally opening up to explore. Is it possible for Wyatt and Piper to achieve the professional success they desire while building a future together?

This series started with Callie’s story, grew into the story of a wonderful and loving community, and this last book brought everyone together in a way that just feels right. The family aspect of the island community really shines through. Seeing Callie’s growth and the strength she demonstrates in handling what happened in the past truly shows how much she has grown both personally and professionally. Overall, this is the perfect final book for the series.

I cannot recommend this book and series enough! If you are looking for stories that will touch your heart and take you away to the cutest little beach town, then look no further!

Escape to Big Dune Island with a story of ambition, romance and finding where home truly is.

Piper Presley has spent years chasing her dream of making it big in Hollywood and she’s this close to making her dreams come true. When she returns to Big Dune Island to oversee a documentary about her superstar client, she sees the opportunity as the perfect launchpad, until she comes face to face with local marketing director, Wyatt Mason. Piper’s big-city strategy clashes with Wyatt’s easy going style and deep roots on the island. But their chemistry is hard to ignore.

As they navigate behind-scenes drama, a buried scandal threatens everything they’re working toward, including their growing connection. With career-defining choices on the horizon and a hurricane brewing offshore, Piper and Wyatt must decide what really matters…and where home truly is.

Review-

Another wonderful read by Savannah Carlisle who has the ability to transport the reader to Big Dune Island describing people and places as if you know them. I love the sense of community in this story and how everyone looks out for each other. The dynamic between Piper and Wyatt was just lovely. The way Wyatt challenged Piper to a different way of looking at things and their unwavering support of each other. An uplifting coastal romance about friendships, a swoon worthy romance and deciding what really matters. A must read for your summer TBR!

Piper Presley is on the verge of achieving her dreams. However, when she returns to the picturesque Big Dune Island to oversee a documentary about her renowned client, it becomes the ideal opportunity to solidify her aspirations. But her journey takes an unexpected turn when marketing director Wyatt Mason turns her innovative ideas into obstacles.

As Piper attempts to blend her big-city sensibilities with the laid-back island lifestyle, a clash of personalities is inevitable. The impending hurricane and the simmering tension between Piper and Wyatt over a buried scandal leave her questioning her path forward.

“The Stories We Tell,” a captivating and heartwarming tale by Savannah Carlisle, kept me enthralled from the very first page. Piper’s character was incredibly relatable, and Wyatt was nothing short of remarkable.

I find immense joy in spending time on Big Dune Island, and it serves as a perfect escape for me. So, pack your beach bag, sunscreen, and head to the sandy shores. I thoroughly enjoyed this installment of the Big Dune Island series and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a delightful and heartwarming read.

Out Now!

This was such a heartfelt and uplifting coastal romance. Set on Big Dune Island, this story perfectly captures the feeling of community, friendship, and finding a place that truly feels like home.

I loved Piper and Wyatt together. Their relationship felt genuine, supportive, and full of trust, especially during moments of uncertainty and big life decisions. Wyatt constantly challenged Piper in the best ways while still being her safe place, and their chemistry was so sweet and swoony.

What made this story extra special was how much heart the entire island community brought to the book. Big Dune Island feels like somewhere you’d want to grab coffee with the locals and stay forever.

I’m so sad to say goodbye to this series, but I’ve loved every visit to the island. If you love small-town coastal romances filled with heart, friendship, and community, add this one to your summer TBR.

Thank you so much to author for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

There is nothing more soothing to me than a beachside romance. Big Dune Island has quickly become my favorite place to read about with its natural coastal beauty, but also because of the wonderful people of this community who truly care about one another and make this a place where someone can feel at home.

Piper and Wyatt are completely opposites. He is laidback and she is a little more high strung. She is big city and he is small island, but somewhere along the way their chemistry becomes undeniable.

Home is where the heart is truly means something in this heartwarming romance.

I sighed when I finished because I knew it was back to reality when I wish I could be transported back to the sandy beaches of Dune Island where it seems there is something magical about this wonderful island. I found myself thinking Dune Island take me away.

Thank you to Harpeth Road and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Stories We Tell by Savannah Carlisle is the first book I've read by this author and I hadn't realized when I obtained it from NetGalley that it was part of a series. And not only a part, but the final book and conclusion of a series. Having said that, I do believe I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous books. I had a hard time connecting with the characters, but it wasn't because of the writing. I believe Ms. Carlisle writes very well, but I think it was more of an issue for me because I like to know the back story and I didn't get that because I hadn't read the other books in the series. And that's on me so don't judge this book by my review! Give it a chance because it was a nice, heartwarming story that I enjoyed nevertheless. I'm grateful to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

I can not praise this book enough- it was the final book in the Big Dune series, and I will miss the characters in this series. It can be read as a stand-alone book but for pure enjoyment I say reading them all in the series will fill your heart and mind with what happens.
I like it when the entire community is part of the story and this is Piper and Wyatt’s story, but everyone is there to complete the series.
The thank you I am sending to Savannah Carlisle for giving her readers this book is huge. This is a perfect beach read. The location, the story and the characters will be with me long after I finish this book.

As I finished the last page I felt a tinge of sadness because this is the last book in the series.
This book packs a bunch of interwoven threads into it. It’s about self realization, integrity, following your heart, but also the necessity of listening to your inner tuition.
Piper and Wyatt have great synergy together in business but they each have to face old ghosts. Self doubt and second guesses are natural but at some point they have to shove those aside and choose happiness.
I thoroughly enjoyed not only this conclusion but the entire series!
Thanks Savannah Carlisle and NetGalley for the digital copies.

LET ME TELL YOU, I absolutely ate this book up. I enjoyed every moment of it. I loved Piper, Wyatt and Callie! I loved all the characters, the small town feel. I loved the way there was these moments of being unsure in these different decisions that were supposed to be made. I loved the way piper and wyatt trusted each other and leaned on each other in moments of uncertainty. I loved that this book wasn’t just about them, but about the entire community. It was a beautiful story and an amazing read.

Thanks to netgalley and Savannah + her publishing team for allowing me to read it! I will absolutely be reading more of her books!

Savannah Carlisle has written another fabulous book in this 4th book of the Big Dune Island series. I fell in love with Wyatt and Piper from the start and could not put this book down. I stayed up way too late reading it and enjoyed it so very much.

Both Piper & Wyatt try to remain professional and finally see that sometimes what you wanted your work life to be at 23 is not what you want it to look like at 33! Love, community and your tribe of people who care about you means more than you know. This book has so many truths to reveal about us and our dreams!

This book is fabulous - and doesn’t disappoint!! Wyatt knows her coffee order by heart…❤️

Big Dune Island is a special place, which the residents all know and want to protect. This installment in the series has Piper, who is once again staying in town for work from her Nashville home base. We also have Wyatt who is content on the island. These two have feelings for each other while also exploring their respective personal and professional goals. While the mutual attraction is there, the wonder is it possible to consider a relationship when they don’t know where they will end up. Especially when their project, a documentary, doesn’t have them necessarily on the same side.
It was lovely to revisit the Island and the way these two find their way to each other was well written.

What a sweet story! I loved the friend to lovers and the strong foundation they already had to build on. There are brief reminders of events from previous books sprinkled throughout artfully. It works as a standalone although I can't imagine anyone not wanting to devour the entire series.

If you're looking for a fantastic clean Hallmarkish romance, definitely grab this one! It is so good! You'll fall in love with the island and its residents just like I have. Thank you to the author for the early copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This was quite an interesting read. i found the story and style quite refreshing. i just wish the writing was less repetitive and found other ways to say the same things.

i also wish the couple spent some more time together actually talking about their feelings without getting interrupted. their chemistry was peak and palpable.

twas my first time reading anything from the author and series. i don’t know much about the other books but i could tell that they all had their own stories and all. twas a cute book. didn’t feel short at all.

What a perfect ending to the Big Dune Island Series. Wyatt and Pipers chemistry jumped off the page from the very beginning for me. I loved how the book pulled all the characters from the other books in, but this could still be read as a standalone. I will miss Big Dune Island, but these books will be rereads for me.

Secrets from the past, family history, choices to be made, new life journeys, family, friends, love, and a hurricane make this a great story. Reading this one reminded me that there can always be something to learn from the past. This author writes stories that make me want to keep reading more. Great read. The cover of the book is so lovely, it reminded me of Elin Hilderbrand books. Unfortunately, the book was a romance from beginning to end, which didn't appeal to me. I flipped through the story to the end.
