All Brody Coners knows, or cares about, is his loyalty to the Back Down Devil MC patch on his back. Nothing else matters.
So when he bumps into a jittery, but very sexy nurse who is trying to save one of his brother's lives, he's surprised that he’s taken aback by her. Not just by her beauty, but by the secret he can see she's hiding.
The absolute last thing Heather Langlin needs in her messed up life is another man telling her what to do. If it wasn't stressful enough to have an abusive boyfriend who thinks he's greater than any living man in the world, now a biker - a really hot biker - is trailing her, asking her questions that have her on edge.
The more Brody pushes, the more Heather gives. And soon her secret forces Brody to protect Heather and save Back Down Devil MC from another violent tragedy.
First book by this writer for me. Reviews were really good and it's free on unlimited kindle store so I thought I'd give it a go. Brody is a Back Down Devil MC brother and after a member is blown up and in hospital he meets a sexy scared nurse called heather. Heather is in trouble her boyfriend is a drug dealer and abuses her. She is forced to move drugs through hospital in coffee cups. Very full on relationship between Hh and especially other members of the MC. This series is a very much anti-hero characters. The MC is almost honest beliefs about it but they are heavy on violence murder sex drugs drinking and beating shit out of each other. I think this isn't everyone's cuppa but it's very fast pace.
I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. There was no depth and I didn't feel the connection between the characters at all. The plot had potential, it just missed the mark for me.
Wild Blaze is about Brody and the Back Down Devil club, and while I found really hard to finish, I did it because it's a novella and doesn't last long.
The premise was good. I loved the idea of a protective club full of tattooed bad boys. But the story wasn't for me. The writing was weird, there were a lot of grammar issues, and some of the dialogues seemed unrealistic for me. And, for the love of God, I can't stand the idea of insta-love in this book. For me, it never happened.
I wanted to like it, there were even some lines that made me smile. But this story is not for me.
I'm not sure where this series but I have hope that it will be better than this. I dont know if it was because this book is short and there wasn't enough time but the characters all seemed so distant. I got no insight to any of the mc members. I didn't like how Brody cared so little for Heather's life. I get you have a mission...but really? anyway I feel the series will have potential. we will see.
(Added: This novella takes place as a prequel or between books 1 and 2, although it was written later)
The writing was choppy, to say the least, although there weren't a lot of typos (always a good thing).
Crazy, nasty Blaine wasn't even funny in this, just gross-er, and we have no frame of reference to understand why he's saying what he does. (The regular book 1 would need to be read to understand Blaine.) There's very little character development in this short text. I recognized the names of all of the guys except this guy, Brody.
I must say I don't quite understand why this story was written...
I don't really recommend this to anyone that hasn't read at least the first full-length book of the series because you won't understand this club, how they earn money, what they do in this town, etc. from this story. This novella makes them look like boy scouts, which isn't the case... they just don't allow drugs in town.
Unless you can get this story for free, I wouldn't recommend buying it - just move on to book 1.
The quality of this novella is not the same as the books, and you really don't miss out on anything important by skipping it. You won't get a good picture of the other full-length books, and although this series is not the same quality as say, 'Signal Bend' by Susan Fanetti, it's not bad at all, and I have purchased all of them written to date, and plan to continue. So, this regretfully poor review is just about this particular novella.
I loved Brody and Heather, and I enjoyed their story. Heather is mixed up in a bad situation and Brody recognizes that she needs help before it's too late. He rides to her rescue even though his intentions weren't all that innocent in the beginning. Some of his reactions made me mad at first (I won't go into details but The Club always comes first with these guys) but I got over it fairly quickly. A brilliantly written bit of drama on the author's part. As expected, there was lots of action, suspense and sexy times.
The story was well written. It was fast paced, covering a short span of time, but it packed a strong punch. Now, it could've been confusing to me how it takes place in between the first two books which I had already devoured. But that wasn't the case. The story was pieced together spendidly ; easily capable of being read as a stand alone in fact.
So I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series. It's a recommended read in MC Romance.
Heather Langlin, a nurse who helped save the life of one of the Back Down Devils MC members after an explosion, is forced into a perilous situation by her manipulative boyfriend. She feels helpless and unable to escape his abuse, until she meets Brody Coners. When Brody visits his injured MC brother in the hospital, Heather catches his eye. Brody knows Heather is hiding something but little does he know just how dangerous her secret is.
This is an exciting quick read that is intense but also has touches of humor. The chemistry between Brody and Heather is sizzling and I love how she brings out his protective side. I enjoyed seeing the other Back Down Devil members and how they stand behind their MC brothers. I really liked this book and definitely recommend it to anyone who’s interested in a gritty MC story. (received an ARC for an honest review)
I read this book in one sitting. It was my first ever "MC" romance. I wondered what all of the hubbub was about, now I know. I also see why most of the MC Romances I come across are usually novellas. This type of romance is great for just getting away from reality and living vicariously through the H/H's lives. It's great escapist entertainment. This read was enjoyable as it not only has great sex scenes, but it also had a suspense element to it. This romance was definitely the insta fall in love type. The Hero, while sensitive, is also a rough type of alpha male. It was an easy read. After reading this book I'm definitely intrigued by this type of romance. Of course this type of genre isn't going to win any literary awards, it's still enjoyable. So if you like what I wrote, give this book a try. If that's not your cup of tea, then dont.
This one has all I look for in a great story. Brody is a brother in the Back Down Devil MC and the protect their town. When there are threats against anyone or anything in the town the MC will come to the rescue. When a brother gets hurt an ends up in the hospital, Brody and a few other brothers go to visit. They run into a nurse coming off the elevator. Brody can tell she is hiding something and all he wants is to protect her. Heather is more scared of Lyle then the bikers, he will punish her for any reason, he doesn't even need a reason to hit her. Can Brody protect her without losing his heart? Will Heather tell him the truth about Lyle and his dealings? This is a quick read and worth the short time it takes to read. I can't wait for more.
Now this is what a novella should be. It was short but powerful. BRODY runs into Heather in the hospital, a nurse looking after Erick and being beaten by a brutal abuser. This is their story, ends good of course but packed full of action for the Back Down Devil motorcycle club.
really though Brody was going to hook with Ana after saving her and her father .. But I was wrong the story took a turn to Heather who was a nurse at the hospital and dealing drugs on the side which she hated doing it and did not want to get beat by her boyfriend .. Brody steps in and saves her .. But the club puts her danger to get the drugs out of their town .. short read
Heather is in an abusive relationship. Brody is in a MC that protects the town from what the Police can't. Their paths cross in the middle of a war over drugs.
Tiny bit of plot, "instant connection", and too neat and quick an ending to a major problem plus lots of editing problems.
I enjoyed the start of this series and really am looking forward to more books about the Back Down Devils Motorcycle Club. This first story introducing us to some of these characters was excellent.
Loved the basis for the story. This is about a dark MC that's fighting a war in their town. They are desperate to keep the drugs of the town and will do whatever they must to ensure that Frelen stays safe for all.
I liked this story not sure if I am reading this series in the right order. I liked Brody and Heathers story it was short and sweet. Yes there was some crazy scenes but I enjoyed this couple. I hope they pop up in some of the other books in this series.
