After years of war, the world turned cold and cruel. Lycans ruled over humans and kept them as slaves, doing with them as they pleased. Emily grew up in the Firewater territory, ruled over by the lustful Alpha William Collins. He took what he wanted when and where he wanted it and he always wanted women. He used them as his toys, a trait that many of his subjects copied. The streets were filled with brothels, whores stood at every corner and young girls were taken from their parents to join them. Fearing for her life, Emily's parents kept her hidden and pure but nothing can stay hidden forever. Will Emily survive when she becomes Alpha William's property or can she tame his lustful soul?
I am an English writer from the historic university town of Oxford. I live with my supportive fiancé and our two children, who are my world. I spend most of my time rushing around between school runs, housework and working part-time at the weekends. It’s a bit hectic but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
My passion is writing and has been ever since I was little, writing little stories as soon as I could hold a pen. Dreaming that one day I would have a book out there with my name on it. As I grew older and entered the grown up world I drifted away from storytelling.
After the birth of my son, I was introduced to Wattpad. This site sparked the creative monster inside and I soon started writing again. After the birth of my daughter I quickly developed severe postnatal depression. Which thankfully, thanks to my family and outreach support I managed to recover. The other major factor in my recovery was my writing, writing Life on the rocks was my own little form of therapy
.My hope is that perhaps my stories can somehow help others the way they have helped me. I am a firm believer in losing yourself in a good story, it’s good for the soul. We all need a little escape from time to time.
This story was a bit short, it seemed like once the story started getting good, the author rushed to get to the end. Overall it was a good read, and I would not mind reading the rest in the series.
Growing up in the Firewater Territory Emily was made to stay hidden. Her parents claimed she died and she remained out of the view of the Lycans who ruled the territory. With no life at all, living in a makeshift basement. Emily is thrust into the real world when she is discovered by the patrols.
Alpha William Collins rules the Firewater Territory without much disobedience. William and the Lycan men of the territory use women as they see fit. The territory is consumed by lust, filled with brothels, and women working the streets. Humans are vermin in their eyes and they are owed no respect.
Alpha William sees something in Emily when she and her family are forced to appear before him for their defiance. Emily throws herself at the mercy of the Alpha in order to save the lives of her parents.
Terrified of her new surroundings Emily finds friends in the other maids. She learns that William does not fancy human women so her worst fear are dispelled. William takes advantage of the women readily available in his district, but there is only one woman he truly desires, Lillith.
As the story progresses Emily and William form a small bond that is put to the test when he is forced to choose between his way of life and the human girl who has caught his eye. William begins the book as unlikable but by the end he begins to champion anti-hero status.
Lust is a quick, fun read. There is some violence and mature themes that should be avoided by the younger crowd. It appears as if the series will chronicle each of the 7 Deadly Sins possibly by visiting each of the seven territories ruled by a Collins brother. It is an interesting take and one I look forward to, Gluttony is up next.
