Marcus is still struggling to accept his sister's new husband. They had met when his sister was still underage and he was older than her, plus one of her professor's assistants and he can't swallow that pill.
Meanwhile, he's back to his hometown, coach of the swimming team and he's also working as a personal trainer at a gym. But it's not what he really wanted. He expected to get hired as PE teacher, but another colleague of his got the position. Marcus had always been fan of the 'no strings attached' policy and he's never been interested in relationships, until he meets Addie.
Addie happens to be a new resident in Oak Crest, after an incident that changed her life. She struggles with her own demons, therefore she just wants to be invisible and that's why she keeps her distance and avoids making friendships, becoming the quiet one. But what happens when she meets Marcus and he doesn't remember that she's part of the swimming team he coaches?
Will Marcus keeps his distance, since he is opposed to be in any kind of relationship with a student? And if he doesn't is he going to have the same problems his brother-in-law had dealt with?
I really enjoyed this book. If I have to be honest, I liked it even more than Getting Dirty. Maybe because I liked the heroine more. Her background, her struggle and pain made her more real to me. Also, Marcus tried to hold himself away from her, trying not to repeat history, like Blaire with Caiden.
I really loved their journey and the secondary characters, like Addie's father really made the book a biggest pleasure. Love it when I can watch some character development and I wish we could have seen more from Addie, but I'm not going to complain because everything rolled rightfully, even when I stressed that this was indeed a repeat of the first book. . I wish we had seen more of what happened to Nate.I wouldn't mind watching Marcus & Caiden 'working' together against him. You get what I mean ;) However, I'm still pleased with the turn of events & I would recommend this book.

Forbidden love, high school coach/student athlete, sign me up! This is one of my favorite types of reads, so I was so excited to start this one!
The story is told in dual POV and we first meet Marcus. He is a recent college graduate and coaching water polo at the local high school. The teaching position he thought was his has been given to a female teacher from out of town. Struggling to get by he is working two jobs, coaching and working at the local gym.
He first sees Addie at the local park, she stole his bench. While watching her he realizes how beautiful she is and that she looks a little familiar. He decides to take a chance and ask her out, that is when he receives the shocking blow that Addie is one of his players.
Addie’s life has never been perfect, but things have gotten progressively worse since her mother died. Her dad has lost his job, starting drinking, and they were forced to move to a new town. Addie is living with the guilt of her mother passing and trying to shoulder the responsibility in her household. Water polo is the only thing she does for herself, it’s her escape.
I love these types of story because I love the built in angst and drama with forbidden love. However, what I really loved here is the character development. The characters had so much depth and I was able to feel empathy for them. They were likable and had me cheering them on. I truly liked both Addie and Marcus, they are just two people with the worse timing. But in the same sense they needed each other more now than ever.
This is my first Mia Storm book, but it will not be my last, I already can’t wait to go back and read Blaire’s story. Getting Played feeds my forbidden love addiction, but it also warmed my heart. This story is sexy, fun, and full of heart. My only complaint is I wish the ending was more drawn out, but that is just a preference for me.

Okay...after reading Getting Played, I'm hooked and addicted to this naughty forbidden love series!!! Mia Storm...if you are reading this review, I just want to say you are now on my list of authors to watch out for and will be one-clicking your books.
If you are fan a forbidden love like myself, then this sexy, sweet, and yet beautiful student-teacher romance is the book for you. I absolutely loved this book and could not put this book down. Though this book chronicles a student and her water polo coach, nothing about their story and relationship screamed wronged in my eyes. Yes, there is an age difference and she is still a high school senior but the way Mia wrote this book, you could feel and understand that Addie was wise beyond her years and mature in her decision making. And as for Marcus, I adored him. He was sweet, protective, and understanding. So when a jealous and conniving student threatens to ruin the reputation of Marcus, will Addie and Marcus be able to continue their secret love affair? Or will this forbidden romance land Marcus in jail?
Overall, all I can say I really enjoyed this sweet, sexy and beautiful relationship that was blossoming between Marcus and Addie. Within this slow-burn romance, Ms. Storm was able to weave a tangible, palpable, and raw romance that showcased two characters who found love and understanding within each other. As for the writing, Ms. Mia had me hooked and addicted. So now I need to go back and read Blair's story because after reading Getting Played, I am so intrigued with Blair's story. So if you are fan of forbidden romance, then I highly recommend you to one-click this book now.

Getting Played is a standalone and is part of the Jail Bait series. This series focuses on young Heroines and older Heroes. It’s deliciously taboo and fun.
This is Marcus and Addie’s story.
Addie is a swimmer. She’s seventeen and isn’t your typical student. She’s very private and is closed off. She has a lot of baggage. Her mother died when she was younger. Her dad is an alcoholic and she uses swimming as an outlet.
Coach Marcus loves his job. He loves coaching his swim team. Addie is his star student and he sees a lot of himself in her. He works with Addie to perform better and slowly he notices he has a lot more common with the girl.
I loved the first book, Getting Dirty and I was surprised to find Getting Played seemed like it was written in a different direction. Getting Played has more meat and a lot more backstory. I didn’t mind the fast pace of Getting Dirty, but we definitely get a lot more back story with Getting Played.
Getting Played is a lot tamer than Getting Dirty. There are steamy scenes, but there’s not much build up. Getting Played is more about Marcus and Addie getting to know each other, rather than insta-lust. Marcus and Addie form a friendship at first and there’s plenty for them to talk about.
Addie’s past isn’t perfect and Marcus works hard to bring her out of her shell. She starts to try new things and it’s a sweet relationship. Marcus’ feelings are slow simmering. He doesn’t really act on his feelings. He works really hard to keep himself in check.
I found the pace of Getting Played a bit slower and more detailed. The book picks up around the last 30% and everything you want in a sexy read comes out. It kind of just gets all thrown out there and it’s crazy. I liked this part the best. I love crazy wild rides.
I liked that Addie wasn’t silly and she was shy. I liked that Marcus and Addie formed a friendship at first and work really hard to keep their emotions in check. Like I said, Getting Played is written a little differently. If you like more details and more relationship building, then this one is for you.

Getting Played starts us off with an 'oh shit!' moment, when Coach Marcus Leon puts his foot in his mouth when he attempts to attract a young lady. Not knowing said young lady, Addaline Grace, is a member of his Water Polo team, in high school, and is underage.
We given a student/teacher forbidden love story, that's funny, sexy and seductive, in it's naivety. The story romanticizes around the forbidden love and, it's really so sweet and endearing.
Addie has recently moved to the small town, Oak Crest, to start her senior year. Becoming a part of the Water Polo team is a form of escapism for Addie. She is haunted by her past, and lives in a self imposed prison. Constantly fighting a losing battle with her alcoholic father, Addie has to remain focused and needs to stay strong for her father, as much as herself. Remaining invisible in a new town, means, no one will ask questions and, no one will take notice of the destructive family, trying to ride under the radar. But, this proves difficult, when her alcoholic father, ends up being the town drunk.
Meeting Coach Leon, in an environment completely non-academic or sport related, gives Addie a little insight into a sexy, easy going gentleman. Someone she feels comfortable around. Now transferring this in a high school environment proves difficult. Marcus and Addie, start up a friendship, which soon turns into attraction, and their friendly conversations are filled with sexual tension. All the while, Marcus tries his hardest to remember the strict lines of professionalism he can not cross.
As much as Marcus and Addie are student and teacher, along with the age different. Addie is mature beyond her years. Their compatibility is astounding, and envious.
Soon circumstances arise with a jealous student and teacher, that becomes a catalyst for their relationship. While in the mix, Addie also learns some devastating secrets about her family. She learns to forgive and to move forward.
I loved that each character has so much depth and are constantly developing while the story progresses. Mia Storm makes them lovable and relatable. Marcus tried his best to keep himself at bay. Even when attempting to help Addie out in her personal life. However, sometimes, crossing that unmentionable line, becomes worth the risk.

3.5 'more of the same school girl shenanigans' stars.
Gah I always do this! I find a new series I love and binge on it so much that I ruin it for myself. I'm sure that if I hadn't read this immediately after Getting Dirty I'd have enjoyed it much more. As I devoured both books in a little over one day, I couldn't help but be a bit irritated by the similarities between the two stories which definitely tempered my enjoyment of this one.
This is Marcus, Brianne from the previous book's brother's story. This time he's the 24 year old fighting against a taboo desire for the 17 year old girl he's supposed to be coaching. And after all the fuss he made about his sister's choices too...subtle it wasn't.
The tension was great and the chemistry between them felt real and at a steadier, more plausible pace than the first book. The naughty forbidden element of their relationship gave this an extra edge. I was a bit disappointed with the rather abrupt ending - not sure what happened there, but I felt like there was some unfinished business. There was much less smut in this one too, which is obviously a bit of a downer for my inner smut fan.
This was another spicy taboo read with more plot and chemistry but with no less tension than the previous book. I'd definitely recommend spacing them out to get the best from these forbidden tales though.

I didn't really connect with Marcus and Addaline as much as I did with Blaire and Caiden.The characters were still likable and I liked their ending.I also loved seeing Blaire and Caiden again.Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Anyone who reads my blog regularly can probably tell that I'm a fan of the "forbidden romance" type story. I love them, and I have no problem with student-teacher romance, unless it's done in horribly poor taste and the young person is in fact stalked like a predator, etc... Yes, I know a lot of people would say it's not okay under any circumstances, but let's just take it in the context of fiction.
I like Mia Storm's Jail Bait series. The first book really got to me in a good way, so I was expecting this would as well, and it did. I loved Marcus. This is a guy who has made his views on student-teacher relationships very clear, so the fact that he now finds himself in such a situation was very ironic. I love how he fought with himself on this, but I also loved how the author wrote the build-up of this romance, had the characters relating to each other on such a deep level. It made the romance so much more realistic for me.
I felt very much for Addison and her home life. I didn't feel as if I really knew her internal feelings as well as I knew Marcus'. Marcus was very easy to know because his mind was constantly working against his feelings, what he knew to be right, and what he knew he should do. Addie was a bit quieter, so I felt like I knew more by how Marcus viewed her, which was fine, because all in all, it worked for me.
I did feel like the conflict toward the end was somewhat predictable, but then again, someone had to be the ones to do, so it makes sense that it would be the ones it turned out to be. My only real issue with the story was line editing that needed to be done. There were quite a few, and I mean a lot, of wrong words, words out of order, words missing, etc... I think it could have used another edit, but because I was so into the story, I overlooked it and read on. (Note: Since writing this review, I have learned that the copy I read was finished only the day before I received it. The line edit issues I mentioned should not be present in the final copy which releases this week.)
Aside from that, I loved the story, loved how it ended up, and the general conflict that had to be worked through. Marcus was a wonderful hero for this story and I was glad we got to hear his point of view. I read through the book incredibly fast. Great pacing. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

When I started reading Getting Played by Mia Storm, I was thinking uh uh…this is not a book I am going to like. The reason why I thought I would not like it is because of the heroine’s and hero’s ages. I have a daughter that is 17 years old. I don’t want to read about a young girl getting involved with an older experienced guy, that is her teacher and mentor. I put the book down and moved on to another book. But then I got to thinking about it. I thought about my daughter and her friends. I thought about their maturity levels. I thought about how the social media has made them much more savvy than I was at that age. I thought about their social network, the small community we live in, and the higher educational routes they are experiencing in high school. Girls this age have a more adult outlook on life. They are embracing adult responsibilities, a broader level of worldly knowledge, and a more knowledgable concept of one’s sexuality. They are more informed and open minded. Taking all of this into consideration, I began reading this book again with an open mind and unbiased opinion.
A random meeting on a park bench sets the stage for Getting Played. An intellectual conversation that is loaded with snarky wit and banter leaves Marcus Leon intrigued. He asks this captivating woman, Addie, out on a date. When Monday rolls around Marcus is in for a shock. Addie is one of the seniors on the high school water polo team he coaches. He knows first hand what the ramifications can be for fraternizing with someone under the legal age. He watched his sister and brother in law almost be destroyed by this. He is trying to find a full time teaching job in a profession that is overloaded with qualified professionals. Addie is strictly off limits.
Although Marcus knows that Addie is off limits, he can’t help but be drawn to her. She is different from the other girls on his team. She is clearly a dedicated athlete and leader. She has a sense of maturity most women don’t have at the age of thirty. When he finds out what her home life situation is it makes staying away even harder. He knows what it’s like to have a drunken father. He knows what it’s like to be responsible for more than the usual demands made on teenagers. He genuinely wants to help Addie out. He wants her to be able to remain on the water polo team without having her home life drag her down. He wants her to have the opportunity to receive scholarships so that she can have a better opportunity in life. He wants to be her friend. He wants her to have someone she can trust and turn to when she needs help.
Addie’s family has been torn to shreds. After her mother died in a car accident when she was fifteen, their life spiraled out of control. Her father got lost in his grief and became an alcoholic. They lost their home and life they once had. They were forced to move in with her aunt in a small community hours away from the only home she knew. Her aunt travels quite a bit with her job but has opened her home to them until her father can get back on his feet. It is an uphill battle. Both are lost in their grief, their guilt, and their new place in life. Addie is forced to become an adult. When she meets Marcus she realizes that she has met someone that can understand her life situation. Their friendship is her life line.
Marcus and Addie fight their attraction for one another. Even though there is only five years difference in their ages they both clearly have a lot in common. Even though Addie will be eighteen within a few months she is still underage. Those few months will make a huge difference on how their relationship plays out. Marcus will be under the microscope by the community, his water polo team, and Addie’s father. Addie will be forced to face her guilt and grief. Addie’s father will have to own up to his failures and mistakes. It will take a miracle for all of them to come out as whole people in the months leading up to Addie’s eighteenth birthday.
Mia Storm did an eloquent job creating a story of forbidden love in a very taboo situation. She handled the socially unacceptable dilemma in a heart felt responsible way. The reader does not walk away with a feeling like they were reading about a pedophile. Both Addie and Marcus were young people that met at the wrong time in their lives. How they handled the situation was remarkable. The love they found in each other was beautiful.

Getting Played is another book featuring a coach or Teacher/student relationship and also the age difference (23 yr old Hero and 17 yr old student). This book was a little different than the first book , Getting Dirty, in that the main Hero of the story, is yes attracted to a 17 year student at the school he is a coach at, but this story was more than that, his relationship with Addie isn't what causes the trouble in this story. This book was also about jealousy and just how far some people will go to get back at someone. Just like in book 1, Mia did a wonderful job showing the real side of this type of situation. She continues to show the readers that there are REAL consequences when making adult decisions and that one wrong move can have dire consequences.
I enjoyed this book, but I think I liked Getting Dirty just a little more because the story revolved around Blaire and Caiden. In this one, yes the story did revolve around Marcus and Addie, but I felt some of the sub plot and characters took over the story. I wanted to see more between Addie and Marcus. She took her time getting these two together. The writing was just a great in this one as with the first book. Her books just move right along and never take me that long to read. I also have a difficult time putting her books down.

I have to admit I didn't like Marcus in the beginning because I felt he was a little hypocritical, because of how he treated Caiden, when he was after Blaire in the first book. What I liked was the growth we saw with Marcus and that he finally realized that you can't help who you fall in love with. I think it made Marcus and Blaire's relationship stronger. There is a lot more that happens in this story but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
I will say this though, I was happy to see that the Nate situation was taken care of in this story. That was my one negative from book 1 and I am glad it was addressed in this book. I also liked that we got to see Caiden and Blaire living their HEA in this book. They are so sweet together :)
Again, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a story with a taboo subject. This series is one of the best ones I've read about this subject and I know I will read these books again in the future.

I've been waiting for what seems like forever for this book to release. After reading Getting Dirty, I needed to read Marcus's story and see how things changed in his head when he was put in the same position as Caiden.
Marcus sees Addie on the bench at the park after Blair's wedding, and is instantly drawn to her. They flirt, and he asks her out on a date, and then he gets the shock of a lifetime and finds out she's actually on his water polo team he coaches at the high school.
No matter how hard Addie and Marcus try, they really are pulled together, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their banter and friendship is sweet, and even though it was wrong of Marcus to hang out with a student outside of school, they seem to always be near one another and their friendship grows. I loved their bucket list, and him pushing her to live her life, especially after everything she has been through.
As much as I enjoyed Addie and Marcus's story, it didn't pull me in and make me love it like Blair and Caiden's in Getting Dirty. The pace of this book seemed a lot slower, and then picked up towards the end, just when things were getting really good. I did enjoy watching Addie and Marcus's relationship grow from friends to more, and how mature Addie seemed for how old she was.
Watching Marcus and Addie work through their personal struggles from the past, and everything in front of them was refreshing. Addie does all she can to keep Marcus safe, and Marcus is being persecuted for something he did not do. I really despise Detective Diaz and she definitely makes another appearance in this book, so be prepared if you read book one and already hate her.
I will definitely be looking forward to more books in the Jail Bait series, as these forbidden romances are definitely growing on me, and Mia Storm does an amazing job of writing them! If you're read Getting Dirty, definitely pick up Getting Played as there is some new stuff from Blaire and Caiden, and I loved watching Marcus end up eating his words and feelings towards Caiden, when the same thing happened to him!

I find that reading books about topics that are taboo for society or myself are often difficult. There are some books I won't even try, which means I'm probably missing out on an amazing story, but it's hard to often separate my thoughts and feelings about a certain situation from the fictional story I'm reading. I read Getting Dirty, and while I wasn't comfortable with it, I did find it hard to put down. I knew when Getting Played was announced, I was going to have to read it to see how Marcus handled being in a somewhat similar situation to one he'd so strongly denounced and I'm glad I did.
I don't think I'll ever be completely accepting of a romance or relationship between a teacher and student, no matter how amazing the story, but I was amazed to see how different the writing and story was in this book. Mia Storm definitely brought her A-game to do justice to Marcus and Addie's story. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually felt sympathetic towards what Marcus and Addie were going through. It wasn't just them trying to fight their attraction towards one another, but other situations arising at work and school that really threw me and them for a loop. I loved how Mia Storm incorporated a number of issues and situations that gave this book a depth and gravitas I wasn't expecting, but overjoyed to get.
Marcus and Addie were very easy to like. I might not have been able to relate to their intense desire for one another, but I could see it and relate to their familial situations and pasts. Both of them had so much in common and I loved seeing how they supported one another. I liked how despite their attraction for one another, it wasn't easy for Marcus to reconcile what his head and heart wanted. He really struggled with his connection to Addie knowing it could get him into a lot of trouble he didn't want or need. My heart broke for Addie. Not only was she already dealing with a loss, but she was essentially parenting herself. Add that to the pressure of being at a new school and getting unwanted attention, and I hated to see her hurt so much.
I did cringe a little internally when Marcus and Addie started to get physically involved with each other. I really had to push the labels they had on each other of coach and student to the back of mind. I was able to do it though and it allowed me to get through the last half of the book in a spectacular fashion. Even though parts were hard to read, I read this book quickly. I couldn't put it down. I don't know how Mia Storm is going to be able to top this book, but I'm looking forward to seeing how she does it.

Marcus is the high school water polo coach. He is not one for relationships and prefers sexy with no attachment. Addie is a loaner and the best player on the water polo team. After an accident in the pool leaves Addie hurt, Marcus learns they have more than sports in common. As their friendship builds so does their attraction to one another. The problem is Marcus is not on her coach but he is 23 years old and Addie is only 17.
I seriously LOVED Marcus! He was so sweet and swoon worthy- the perfect book boyfriend. Addie was a great character, although she didn't feel it, her strength was inspiring. The chemistry between the characters was of the charts and the sexy times, though should have been wrong in society's eyes, were oh so right.
One of the things I adored about this book was how, even though this was Marcus's book, Caiden got some redemption. Marcus and Addie being in a similar position as his sister Blaire and her then TA boyfriend, helped to bridge the gap of the brother and sister relationship that formed in the first book.
Though some of it was predictable, the plot line was excellent and the writing was amazing. Though this could be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading this series is order. I give this 4.5 stars.

Addie and Marcus are drawn to each other like moths to flames. They both know it is wrong and do their best to fight the attraction. The more time they spend together, the more they find out about themselves.
This story is filled with drama coming from all angles. Both characters have their fair share to deal with. They both have to deal with things alone. Addie makes an unexpected friend and Marcus finally puts the past behind him. He gets an unexpected eye opening.
Loving this series and can’t wait to see where it goes next!

Gahhhh, I really loved Getting Dirty, it was so thought provoking, sexy, and I was rooting for both sides from the very beginning!!
I wasn't sure how much I was going to like Getting Played because it is about the same concept that was already in the first book but I was excited to read it, even if it was not a new concept to me. I really wasn't disappointed because the characters took on a life of their own and really made the story what it was.
I liked Marcus, even though I wanted to smack him upside his head a few times, and Addie was even strong and had a spectacular personality.
This story wasn't entirely like the last one, there were some unexpected twists and some *ahem* bitches *ahem* that make everything worse before it gets figured out? (sort of)...
When I first started this story, I didn't feel the magic between Addie and Marcus. When I read Getting Dirty, I felt it almost immediately and this time I was like, meh, and Marcus gave me an icky vibe. But as I got towards the end, my cold heart warmed up to them and the idea of them and then by the end...
Overall, I enjoyed the sequel and it still made me think about this subject just as much as the first one. The whole, right or wrong of it because of the age and maturity, etc...
I give this a 4 "Still Scandalous but the original is always better" Stars.

Getting Played is book two of the Jail Bait series. I highly recommend reading book one (Getting Dirty) just so you can understand the characters that come in and out through the book.
If you love a good teacher/student romance, then you’ll really like this coach/student one! This book is just what the dr ordered for my latest book funk! Addie and Marcus both have their struggles in life. But I felt more for Addie. She was practically on her own since her dad is a drunk. The only way she could escape her world was by swimming. She could block out the world with each stroke in the pool. But that’s until she has an encounter with her hot water polo coach. Marcus Leon has to take the job of water polo coach after he was looked past on a job he wanted. Trying to make ends meet, Marcus makes time to work at his father’s gym. It’s just until he could find another teaching job. He also finds refuge in swimming when the world gets to be too much. The chemistry between these two is undeniable. Every teacher/student romance has that element of getting caught. Yet, I liked how the author took a different approach. I enjoyed the writing style of Ms. Storm. I couldn’t predict the outcome of the story. Oh and a crazy secret surprised me! I look forward to reading more of Mia Storm! 4 smooches for Getting Played!

Another Jail Bait story, another hit for me! I enjoyed this installment just as much as the first in this series.
Marcus meets Addie in a park during his sister’s wedding. He is attracted to her and is soon horrified to find out that she is a student at the school where he coaches water polo. Yup, he’s attracted to a seventeen year old high school student! He tries to steer clear, but is finding it more difficult every day. He knows it’s wrong, he knows it’s forbidden, and he knows the consequences if he were to cross that line. After all, he has witnessed the heartache of his sister and her new husband that have finally made it through the very same circumstance.
Addie is a new member of the school’s polo team. She is a survivor of a horrible accident and lives with survivor’s guilt every day. She takes the blame for the accident and her father proves to be of no help to support her through the pain. To top it off, she is now crushing on her coach.
This is another controversial and emotional read. It’s made obvious that it’s forbidden, but the heart doesn’t care. This installment ends with the promise of a happily ever after. I can’t wait for more in the Jail Bait Series!

I discovered Mia Storm when I got the chance to read and review Playing Dirty, so I jumped at the chance to do the same for Getting Played. I was not disappointed! This story flows along a little slower than the last but I don't see that as a bad thing. This time we are following the story of Marcus and Addie. This story is sweet, and sexy, and very difficult to think of as not so right. Marcus is the coach of a high school water polo team, and definitely not the kind of guy to mess around with his students. Addie is a senior who joins the team and us going through a whole lot in her life right now. What happens when the coach and the student become attracted to one another. Do they give in and partake of the forbidden fruit? And if they do, what if someone were to find out? As with the last read in this series I was captured and pulled into the story right away and couldn't put it down. I just had to find out what was going to happen next. Can't wait for the next in the series! I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

For me just by the simple fact that is an older guy (under 30) and younger girl (under 20 over 15) book gets an automatic two stars. Than I give the rest of the stars if I love the story line, the writing and the characters and this book had it all. I loved the first book and I couldn't wait to read this book. And I wasn't disappointed , it was better than I expected. The author surely knows what she doing.
Until now Marcus is my favorite of this series. He is just simply amazing. He never gave up on Addie, he didn't care to lose it all if it came to the point. He was incredible sexy, and romantic.
Addie is an incredible girl, she had to dealt with a great loss in her life. And she didn't end up being a rude annoying girl or a rebellious out of control brat on the contrary she help her father and did the best to keep out of trouble.

Amazing!!!
As much as this book is the same as the first, it is so different at the same time!
I'll admit at first when I stared reading and saw that it was about the Marcus I was a little off put about it ( was not a huge fan of him is Getting Dirty) but then as soon as he meets Addie, which is pretty much straight away. I started to get hooked and found myself trying to read whenever I got the chance.
Once again its about forbidden love and also with Love there is no age difference, Love is Love and you can't help who it is that you fall for.
Was a great read and I en joyed seeing Marcus go though similar struggles as his sister did in the first book. Wish she had more of an appearance in it but other than that loved Getting Played.

As much as this book is the same as the first, it is so different at the same time!
I'll admit at first when I stared reading and saw that it was about the Marcus I was a little off put about it ( was not a huge fan of him is Getting Dirty) but then as soon as he meets Addie, which is pretty much straight away. I started to get hooked and found myself trying to read whenever I got the chance.
Once again its about forbidden love and also with Love there is no age difference, Love is Love and you can't help who it is that you fall for.

Honestly this book could have been fine, i liked the romance, but there are some things i'm not really fond of mixed in the story.
The novel goes like this, Marcus, 23, is a coach in a high school, one day he hits on a girl he finds hot. Turns out Addie's a new addition to his waterpolo team and he didn't recognise her. Forbidden romance ensues. Their first meeting on page is really cute, i liked where this was going.
I'd say the fist half of the book is nice and then things take a weird turn and I stopped enjoying it.
I can get behind an age gap romance, I don't mind, in fact it's the whole reason why I was reading this book to begin with. But what I would have liked way more is for this author and her book to own and acknowledge what they are doing. By which I mean something that is not really legal and pretty much wrong. I get the ~ fantasy ~ and the ~kink ~ and what not, but this book goes out of its way to try and justify the romance.
For exemple, there is a detective in this book whose job is to make sure teens aren't falling prey to predatory men. And the books paints her as this bad guy that wants to breaks innocent couples appart. And what does she knows about love and blabla. Instead of making her a villain, the author could have used this opportunity to show how in real life this sort of relationship is not okay, and that you know because of the magic of books, in this story it thankfully works out nicely etc.
Another thing that really bothered me in this book might be considered a spoiler, so do what you want with it. But I think it's worth considering. It's a turning point in the book, but it's not directly about the MCs relationship.
SPOILERS..? : At one point Marcus, our main man, gets accused of rape by one of the athletes he coaches. And we, the readers, know it is not true, but in the book the police gets involved and stuff.
Why do I dislike this? Because, once again, in real life tons and tons of girls, women, really do get raped and the police and society in general do not take it seriously enough. And some of them end up dead, or justice is never done. And there already is this stigma about false rape claims that discredit woman voices all over the world, we don't need a book adding to it. The authors could have used litteraly any other MacGuffin to further the plot. Why choose this one that is so damaging to women?
I get that this is fiction and that is reality. But fiction is never harmless. People will subconsciously take lessons from what they read, and here wether the authors meant it or not, the lesson is: oh look the women are at it again with the false rape accusations, poor men. And then, next time rape happens IRL people will doubt the victims.
This could have been avoided. Litteraly make you plot point anything else. Especialy knowing that this sort of scenario sort of happened in book 1 already.

Somehow I enjoyed this more than the previous book. Yet I am still giving it 4 stars only and I don’t know why. However, I liked it a lot. Mia Storm has a way with words. Marcus and Addie complemented each other in a good way.
“You don’t get to choose who you fall in love with. That’s why it’s called falling. It’s out of anyone’s control”
Addie had a lot to deal with. She carried so much guilt and regret on the inside. She needed Marcus’ help to deal with it all. He helped her heal one way or another. I liked her but I could not connect with her much.
“I don’t seem to have any control around you.”
Marcus kept on judging Blaire and Caiden’s relationship until he ended up in the same predicament. I truly believed that he loved Addie. He searched for many ways so that he could help her until he truly did.
“I’ve never felt so needed. I’ve never felt anything like the current flowing between us. As if he’s electricity and I’m his bulb, I feel myself begin to warm and glow. I melt into him and everything else fades into oblivion. All that exists are his mouth and his hands and his body. I only feel him.
And I feel him everywhere.”

Romance and Fantasy for Cosmopolitan Girls
Ok, da dove cominciare. Mia Storm è un'incredibile scrittrice, i suoi romanzi mi trasportano in un'altra dimensione, i personaggi diventano miei amici e le loro storie, gli amori e le sofferenze mi appartengono. Non li voglio mai lasciare andare e alla fine di ogni suo libro mi sento vuota e triste. Poi ricordo che posso rileggerlo quando voglio e il sorriso torna sul mio volto.
Mia Storm l'abbiamo già conosciuta con Getting Dirty, e nel primo volume della Jail Bait Series, abbiamo incontrato il protagonista di questo romanzo Marcus.
Si può leggere anche come stand alone, non è indispensabile leggere il primo libro. Ma perché sprecare un'occasione meravigliosa quale leggere un romanzo fantastico!!?
Marcus, è il fratello maggiore di Blaire ( la protagonista di GD ). Alcuni anni sono passati dal primo romanzo e il nostro protagonista ha terminato il college e torna a casa a Oak Crest sperando di insegnare educazione fisica nel community college. Quando il posto gli viene soffiato da una biondona provocante, rimedia come istruttore di water polo ( una sorta di pallanuoto ) nella High School. Durante il ricevimento di nozze della sorella, che si svolge nel parco dove giocavano i fratelli da piccoli, si allontana cercando un pò di tranquillità e qui incontra Addie. Dopo alcuni scambi di parole e un flirt leggero, le chiede di uscire ma alla frase "See you Monday, Coach", Marcus rimane impietrito..... ci aveva appena provato con una sua studentessa!!!!
Addie ha dei seri problemi in casa, la madre è morta in un incidente d'auto, vivono a scrocco nella casa della zia materna e il padre è un alcolizzato. Inutile dire che non è un momento sereno per la ragazza, il nuoto le permette di isolarsi e dimenticare, anche se per poche ore, il dolore e la confusione. L'incontro con Marcus e le sue attenzioni, la fanno sentire desiderata ed esposta. Ha una serie di regole che segue religiosamente per non essere notata. Non vuole che nessuno sappia chi sia e tiene i suoi sentimenti ben nascosti. Non vuole la pena di nessuno.
Inevitabilmente Marcus comincia a guardare con occhi diversi Addie, a sua volta la ragazza non può che non restare indifferente al fisico statuario del suo Coach e apprezzare le premure che le riserva.
Marcus rischierà la sua carriera e la seria possibilità di finire in galera per una studentessa, per la quale i sentimenti d'amore non fanno altro che aumentare ogni giorno di più?
Marcus è rimasto scottato da quanto è capitato alla sorella. Il suo attuale marito è stato accusato di violenza sessuale perché colto in flagrante con Blaire. Ha passato mesi in prigione per questo, non era importante che lei fosse consenziente, agli occhi della legge lei era minorenne. Ma l'amore ha prevalso e adesso hanno coronato il loro sogno d'amore. Ha difficoltà ad accettare Caiden come cognato ma adesso che lui si trova nella stessa situazione comincia ad avere maggiore comprensione per le loro scelte.
Quello che le piace di Addie è la sua forza, la fragilità, la determinazione e la dolcezza. Si ritrova innamorato senza nemmeno accorgersene e ogni tentativo di starle lontano risulta vano.
Ha sempre agito come ci si aspettava, campione di nuoto da ragazzo, frequentava le persone giuste e andava ai party dei compagni popolari. In realtà lui non voleva questo ma non ha mai avuto il coraggio di mostrarsi per quello che era veramente. Ed è ciò che invidia alla sorella e a Addie, prova molto rispetto per entrambe.
Addie ha tanta rabbia in corpo, E' arrabbiata con la madre che ha sempre preferito i personaggi dei libri che scriveva alle persone reali intorno a lei. E' arrabbiata con il padre che passa la maggior parte della sua giornata a bere nel bar invece che cercare un lavoro. Appena sveglia indossa una maschera che impedisce a tutti di vederla dentro e nemmeno sospettare il tumulto che alberga nel suo cuore. Marcus distrugge ogni muro alzato e le fa capire che il suo non è vivere, una vita trascorsa in questo modo è sprecare una possibilità di essere felici.
Non sarà facile per loro concretizzare il loro sogno d'amore, accuse false, trasferimenti inaspettati. Niente potrà tenerli lontano. Se ne vale la pena, si lotta fino alla fine per stare insieme all'unica persona che ti capisce e ti ama per quello che sei, senza maschere, senza false pretese. Per il semplice motivo che senza l'altro, non si è nulla.
Lo stile della scrittrice è impeccabile, l'inglese di facile lettura. Le scene d'amore molto delicate ma allo stesso tempo intense. Non so voi ma a me non crea problemi leggere di una storia d'amore dove la protagonista è ancora minorenne, non considero l'età un deterrente...anzi lo rende ancora più eccitante, se poi è un amore taboo tra insegnante/studentessa pure meglio!! Io sono una fan di questo genere di libri!!!
Augurandoci che arrivi presto anche in Italia, vi consiglio di fare un tentativo nella lettura in lingua originale, e cominciare con un romanzo di Mia Storm non potrebbe essere inizio migliore!!

I dnf'ed as soon as the Hero went home with his regular hookup. I love student teacher/ coach romances and I think a big part of that is because the teacher/coach is older and has most of his shit together so it makes sense that he's able to help his student. The Hero in this is fresh out of college at 22 years old and living on his friends couch because he just assumed he would get a job at his old high school. Yet this man has enough to pay for the heroines hospital bill??? This is also a standalone but it gets confusing because the Hero is the brother of the heroine in the first book so events/characters in that book are talked about a lot.

My second book by Mia Storm, and I was not disappointed- now a short disclaimer….
Are all books written the EXACT same way, same story line, and same amount of steam- sexual tension, same amount of happiness or sadness? No. I should damn well hope not, because WHY read?! Boy meets girl, they have a relationship, they have ups, they have downs, in the end they remain together- that old chestnut. And it totally happens a lot more than you think- but EVERY story isn’t going to be like that and I am PERFECTLY happy with that. So while this story isn’t as steamy as Getting Dirty, and its an older man with a younger woman, this story is NOT Getting Dirty. And that makes me SO happy. Why? Because why the hell would I want to re-read the same story over? No, it’s not as steamy, not as “dirty,” but it is meaningful, it is profound, and it is very well written- oh, and it’s got the man’s prospective DOWN PAT! On to my review!!
I freaking love this series! I love forbidden books, and this series is starting off fantastically. It centers on Blaire’s- from Getting Dirty- brother Marcus. He is actually a little older than Blaire- and this book happens after the epilogue of Getting Dirty. So we actually got to see more of Caiden and Blaire, which was AWESOME, and a glimpse into the older brother. There was also some loose end tie ups with Marcus’ friend when he was in a relationship with Blaire that I thought was needed and was definitely spot on.
Marcus is the coach of the school’s water polo team- and he just witnessed an event in Graffiti Park that he needs a break from, he goes to his favorite bench- and finds it taken. By an incredible looking woman. It doesn’t take the ladies’ man long to swoop in and strike up a conversation and he basically asks her out- when to his sheer horror, he discovers he already has met her, in his high school coaching job. Addie is on his team.
Addaline Grace is seventeen years old, and has transferred for her senior year to Oak Crest High, and she has rules. One of the biggest is to not stand out, to blend in as often as she can. She avoids friendships and stays to herself. When one day, she sees her water polo coach coming over the hill, and while he is dreamy- he is off limits.
Until he isn’t.
I really enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the plot and where Mia took Addie and Marcus in their relationship. I enjoyed how he was protective over her, that he looked out for her. And I also enjoyed how Addie was around him. I loved the characterization that she put into the people in this story. I definitely loved the crossover from getting dirty- obviously because I loved the story so much. I loved the secondary characters. I liked how Addie’s father evolved over the course of the story too, props for admitting there was a problem and he set out upon fixing it. And I certainly enjoyed where the story was heading- I can’t wait for more- and I hear Bran is getting his story next which I am uber PUMPED about, he is a fab character and he deserves a little jail bait of his own. Kudos Mia, I love your writing!! Please keep up the fantastic work. I am counting down the books in the series because I can’t wait to find out your alter ego!! It’s probably just as killer as this one!

Some time ago, I went through a big forbidden-romance craze, wherein I stumbled upon Mia Storm’s debut novel Getting Dirty. It promised steam, angst, and yes, that undeniably “taboo” connection, and it delivered well on all three fronts. I enjoyed it enough that when the opportunity to review its sequel came up, I signed up practically on autopilot. From the series title alone—Jail Bait—it’s obvious what the recurring theme would be. I just didn’t realize how closely connected Getting Played would be to its forerunner. Really, it’s no one’s fault but mine for not recognizing that Marcus Leon, the hero of this novel, was the brother of Getting Dirty‘s heroine Blaire Leon.

I mention this because, as much as I tried to keep it from doing so, it affected my entire experience of Getting Played.
Looking at the story from a neutral point of view, I’d say that it was just as well-written as the last. It ticked off the same three items. In fact, it even upped the angst and connection factors. From Addie’s family troubles to Marcus’ personal conflict, there was plenty of drama to be felt. Throw in some conniving third parties, and it was like soap-opera overload.
Addie and Marcus met at a tough time for both of them. Addie’s struggling with her father’s worsening alcohol addiction and her guilt over her mom’s death, while Marcus is dealing with feelings of inadequacy after losing out on his ideal job, not to mention his disapproval over his sister’s marriage to Caiden. Both of them share the same outlet—swimming, particularly water polo—and they’ve got this thing about banned books. It made sense that they’d feel drawn to each other, especially given that Marcus has had plenty of experience with having a drunken father. I felt their connection almost as if it had been a friend of mine telling me about her story. And I loved the literature bit, because yes, guys who read are HOT.
My issue wasn’t with the age gap. Honestly, it wasn’t even that big—she’s 17 to his 23 (jailbait, but still). It wasn’t even that it was a coach-student relationship, because I’ve already confessed to being fascinated with forbidden romances. It was that after his extreme reaction to Blaire and Caiden’s relationship (read Getting Dirty to find out what I mean) I couldn’t help but see Marcus as a hypocrite. Did that add to his turmoil and create more conflict in the story? Yes. Did he try to redeem himself? Definitely. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get over my initial impression of him.
That said, I would recommend Getting Played to fellow fans of angsty, forbidden romances. It’s a story that felt very genuine from both Marcus’ and Addie’s POVs, and that’s a huge credit to author Mia Storm. Plus, the chemistry between the two will surely get you hot and bothered.
As a side note, I just read that Mia actually draws on personal experience in writing her Jail Bait books, particularly Getting Dirty. That explains why the emotions seemed so real and heavy. I’ve got to say, her books will have you thinking twice about the lines between right and wrong. 3.5 stars

“When I can’t bear to be in my world, losing myself in someone else’s is the only escape.”
There's a pattern with Mia Storm's writing, which gratefully, came to my attention after reading only two of her novels. She presents unhealthy and problematic relationships and then tries exceedingly to cover it up with pretty vows of love. Love does not equal compatibility.
I've already expressed my aggravations in my review of Getting Dirty and since this seems to be the same story rewritten I'm not going to bend over backwards to repeat myself. You can change a character's name and age, their history, and even the backdrop; these things to do not change the premise of a book. An author who rewrites her own work will no doubt lose credentials. No reader enjoys an author who only knows how to write one type of narrative.
Fast past romance, continual bad choices, and clouded judgement are all things I hate to read about.

Well, would you look at that! Three things I can't stand all mounted into one novel. I don't know how I sat through 2 books of this.
With Getting Played I was much more sympathetic to the characters, Marcus and Addie, and because they displayed admirable qualities, it easily made them less irritating compared to that of Blaire and Caiden. The book took a good two to three hours to get through since I didn't have to take a 5 minute break every time one of them said or did something stupid. Though this book lacked antagonizing "dramatis personae", I didn't find it as enthralling as I had with the first. At least with Getting Dirty it evoked emotion, good or bad, from me.
The one thing I will bring up about this series is the disrespect these characters have for the officer involved in investigating the charges. She was doing her job, she was upholding the law, and you're selfish little pricks if you can't respect that. When someone breaks the law or any set of rules and gets into trouble for it, they have no one to blame but themselves. I can't stand someone who can't take responsibility for their own actions.
The writing still hadn't improved with Getting Played so this will be the last of the Jail Bait series that I will read. The book gets its well deserved .5 (or 1/2) star and no recommendation (this includes the series as a total).
