When bartender Hope Foster finds the body of her murdered boss, she has no idea she's about to become the prime suspect in his murder.
I always like to visit Danger Cove, and while I like the setting and the characters, this book didn't really do it for me. Honestly, the mystery was enough to keep me guessing, the attitude of the detective in charge nearly ruined the book for me. The police officer who is dating the victim's daughter (who should be a suspect herself) investigates the crime, and somehow thinks the woman his girlfriend is suing is the killer? And this is allowed? He should be fired, and never allowed to work for the police ever again.

Great entertainment. I enjoyed this a lot. It was fast moving and drew me in from the start.
The action takes place in Danger Cove, a little seaside town in the US, where the main character, Hope is forced to play detective to prove her innocence of the murder of her boss at the cafe where she works.
It's a fun read with elements of murder, mystery, suspense, humour, - and not forgetting romance.
I particularly enjoyed the touches of humour, and Hope's little asides to Karma.
I was kept guessing as to the identity of the murderer and the ending came as a complete surprise.

Hope Foster left home at 18 and didn't look back, she spent the next few years working her way around the world and eventually ended up at Danger Cove (on the recommendation of her Yoga Guru), she found herself a job at The Smuggler's Tavern and the owner Bob also rented her a cottage for a minimum amount. One night she left Bob alone finishing off the accounts but when she arrived the following morning she found him dead in his office! The problem seems to be that the local police officer is not looking at anyone else other than Hope for the killer, so she and a team of friends need to find out what happened before Hope loses everything.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as other books in this series. I think that was because I knew who the killer was fairly early and there was no surprises. Also I felt like there was a few unanswered questions at the end of the book, like what happened to the bar and did she inherit it or not? Perhaps they were answered and I just missed it, I don't think so but maybe I fell asleep through the romance. For somebody who should have been worried about losing her job, her home and going to jail she spent a lot of time helping with the treasure hunt and thinking about breaking her no man rule. Having said all that I did like the book and it was entertaining just not my favourite. I liked the characters and it was fun having the main character from the previous books make a small appearance, especially as this series is written by a number of authors and can be read in any order, but it is fun to run across a character we have met before. The mystery was interesting with the treasure hunt going on as well as the murder but Hope seemed to give up too easily after eliminating only two suspects.

Hope is now the prime suspect of murdering her employer. Bobs daughter Elise and his nephew Carter are enraged when it is made clear that Bob had changed his will in Hopes favour. Hope meets up with an English underwater archeologist called Harvey and they set about proving Hopes innocence. This is a very well written story by Sibel Hodge. I highly recommend you should add this to your TBR.

This is the first book I have read in this series and now I’m hooked! Murder, intrigue and a possible pirate’s treasure! This is a quintessential murder mystery at its best! I loved the characters; they were very well developed and believable. Hope Foster’s boss turns up dead and the police don’t want to investigate they just want to pin it on her. Therefore, Hope must investigate the murder to try and stay out of jail. Her friends Rudy and Vernon agree to help her. Along comes adorable and charming Harvey whom Hope is attracted to and the fun begins!!! You won’t want to miss it

Uneven writing
I read and enjoyed the first Danger Cove book but didn't enjoy this one as much. Each of these books are co-authored by different people. Me. Holliday seems to have a stable of authors who wrote almost interchangeably and that doesn't always make for smooth plotting or writing.
This book was uneven, had week character and plot development and just wasn't very interesting. I won't be buying any more books in this series.

Treasure hunt
Hope works at the Smuggler's Tavern for Bob who owns the place. He's a good man to work for but his daughter is only looking for a man to KEEP her, the only work she does is to flirt with the customers, fix her hair makeup and nails when she does show up. His nephew only drinks and gambles away any money he has and doesn't show up for his shifts. Hope meets Harvey an underwater archaeologists who is looking for the shipwreck of THE OCEAN'S REVENGE which was lost in June 1852 after a hurricane hit in Danger Cove. The next morning Hope finds Bob dead in hits office, Harvey and Jake are with her. When the daughter and nephew find out from the lawyer that Bob left everything he owned to Hope they get the police to arrest Hope. It doesn't help that the detective is sleeping with the daughter. Hope has her work cut out trying to figure out who killed Bob since the police aren't looking any further than her. Good story and interesting characters.
A little disappointed that the people in the previous book were barely mentioned.

Smugglers, Shipwrecks, and Murder
This was a really good story. Hope is an unusual character in that she’s never had a stable place to live until now, and then she gets accused of murdering her boss! She and her friends band together to prove that she’s innocent. Meanwhile there’s a hot British underwater archaeologist who captures her eye—and heart. He’s looking for an ancient shipwreck in the area but has only a limited time to do so.
Favorite parts of the story: the description of Zen the cat (looks like John Lennon only shorter and hairier); the non-relationship between Vernon and Ruby (Hope’s friends); and the ending. Nicely done.
Things I didn’t care for so much - too many strings left dangling for me. I assume a series is coming and they’ll be tied up there, but it really bothered me that some things were just left hanging.
Other than that, a really good story.

I recently got into the Danger Cove mysteries. This being the first in the Cocktail Mysteries group introduced new characters. Hope is a bartender with a secret past. She works for Bob at the Smuggler’s Tavern situated on the bluff over the water. When Bob turns up dead and Hope unexpectedly inherits everything, she is accused of murder. Bob’s ungrateful daughter and nephew make sure to contest the will and push that Hope is the murderer. In order to clear her name, Hope starts her own investigation with her friends Ruby and Vernon. She also meets Harvey, an underwater archaeologist trying to solve the mystery of a sunken ship. There are so many characters that appear to be guilty throughout the story. It’s well written and keeps you wondering. I truly enjoyed the book.

When Hope discovers Bob dead in his office, she is devastated, as he has been like a father to her. But when Carter and Elise rush to hear the terms of the will and find out that Bob changed it two months ago to leave everything to Hope, they accuse her of murdering him. And the lazy and idiot detective is happy to make Hope the prime suspect. Luckily, Hope has friends in town and they set out to find the truth. A really good read!

This is the 2nd book of the Danger Cove stories. It was a great book, well written and very entertaining. It was A really good story line. Definitely enjoyed reading it.
Must just say though that scuba divers do not breathe oxygen they breathe compressed air.
Love the cover design. This whole series has great covers one if the reasons I got attracted to these books.

In this the second cozy mystery set in Danger Cove the iterant bartender has set roots in Danger Cove and when the owner of the Smugglers Inn is killed she is a prime suspect. To add to the suspense and action the owner left his real estate empire to her and instead of his two good for nothing kids and add in a visiting hunk who get the butterflies going makes this a nice cozy read thanks

Excellent
This one really kept me guessing. I had it narrowed down to two suspects by the end. I was relieved when the killer was finally relieved and it wasn't who I initially thought. Great story. Can't wait to read book 3.

Great read!
This was quite a page turner. It hooked you in the beginning & kept you guessing until the end. Suspense, betrayal, treasures, deep sea diving, romance....who could ask for more. You won't be disappointed in this great book!

What an adventure, so may twists and turns and then you reach the shocking conclusion with your heart in your throat. Something new every minute, if you love mysteries you are going to love this book.

Danger Cove # 2. A cozy featuring a young woman working at a bar/restaurant. Her boss is murdered. The heroine is young but not immature. Not bad but not much action. i liked the characters and the identity of the killer was not obvious. There is a little romance and sexual tension. C. 2015.

Pirate treasure!
Well thought out, but needs a "to be continued" second volume to tie up all of the loose ends. What happens to Bob's family? Will Hope and Harvey manage the restaurant or move to England? Will Ruby and Vernon get together? Inquiring minds want to know!
