Human sexuality professor Cricket Malloy typically likes bad boys, but when buttoned-up science teacher Tucker Lamb needs help with an experiment on aphrodisiacs, she goes the extra mile to help him out. After all, what could go wrong? He’s totally harmless…
Tucker Lamb was born into a life of a grifter. He’s always prided himself on his fast fingers and quicksilver tongue. Ever since being placed in the witness protection program, he’s been on the up and up, but something about Cricket Malloy makes him ache to see if his tongue is as fast as it used to be.

minus: the plot twist is.......eh. and it feels like this story ends abruptly. also, i wish they finished the project, like i'm really curious about how it'd turn out.
Professor Tucker Lamb teaches a science class right next door to Dr. Eleanor (Cricket) Malloy, a Human Sexuality Professor. After a particularly intense class where Professor Malloy shows her class a portion of the movie "When Harry Met Sally," Professor Lamb comes up with a class project. He challenges his class to do a project on the correlation between human sexuality and science. Knowing that he's mixing together two classes, he presents the project to Professor Malloy in hopes that she'll collaborate with him and also have her class do the same type of project. Cricket's counter-proposal is for both professors to do their own combined project regarding the effects of aphrodisiacs. Being that Tuck already has the hots for Cricket, he says yes.
The collaborative project regarding aphrodisiacs brings more to the table than either Tuck or Cricket imagines.
If you are looking for a short novella packed full of foreplay, teasing, and sex, then Conned is for you. The sexual tension and chemistry is there; front and center. When Tucker and Cricket do the aphrodisiac project, the atmosphere has a definite sexual charge. They also get along well in the short time we get to read about them.
If you're looking for plot, I'm not so sure you'll be happy with this one. The concept of class collaboration is fantastic but once Tucker gets Cricket involved, the class part of the project falls by the wayside and we never read about it again. We only get a small dose of the aphrodisiac collaboration which has both Tucker and Cricket bursting for release. Then add in the fact that Tucker has a secret and is confronted by a man from his past, and we have a whole new thread for the story - a thread that is not really lead up to and abruptly thrust into the end of the story. I, unfortunately, found the story to be disjointed and containing too many side trips for a 52 page novella to handle.
Chloe Cole's character dialogue is smooth and I like her writing style. I just don't find the book to be as enjoyable as it could be.
Again, please remember that this is MY opinion. You, dear readers, may just love the novella as do many people who have already read and reviewed it on various sites.

Oh, damn. Conned is super hot! And it has the amazing combination of sex and science! Tucker Lamb is a science professor, while Cricket Malloy teaches Human Sexuality. One day, the noise from her class disrupts Tuck's lecture and gives him a bright idea: joint projects about the connection between science and sex. It'll be a learning experience for the students, and it'll allow him to get to know Cricket better. The two professors decide to work on their own project involving aphrodisiacs. Tuck unexpectedly inserts his own clip into the aural tests, so Cricket adds something to the visual. Needless to say, these two are horny as hell and want each other...bad!
Conned is sexy, funny, and educational! Well, at least there are some interesting sex discussions which start off academic and then move over into personal territory, but same thing! Tuck and Cricket have some amazing chemistry! It's just oozing off of the pages. The restaurant scene? Oh, yes! There may only be two sex scenes (and one self-satisfaction), but this whole novella is sex, sex, sex! With a dash of science, and I loved it! There is a kind of plot introduced at the end, involving Witness Protection and the mob, but I was so not interested. It actually felt a bit forced, and really didn't create much of a problem for the characters. If that had been left out, Conned would have been a full 5 stars.
Tucker Lamb is a science professor who meets Cricket Malloy, a professor of human sexuality. They both work at the same university. Tucker has a big secret and leads a very quiet life to maintain that secret. However, he is very attracted to Cricket and decides to ask her to work on a project together. Cricket accepts and that is the basis of the story. OK, I really wanted to like this novella a lot more. I never really got into either character. I felt Tucker was trying to be like Clark Kent/Superman, in that he was this dowdy professor until he took his glasses off and he became this GQ model. Also, Cricket was basically described as Kim Kardashian body type. Most of the story was about each character fantasizing about the other character. I didn't really feel the two characters connect. Also, for all the hype about Tucker's big secret, it didn't really seem relevant too much to the story. I wished it was longer so we could get a better feel for the characters.
Phew--this one had some steamy, steamy scenes! Their initial experiment was geekily sexy--and a whole lot of fun. Don't even get me started on the dare...whoa. :) I especially loved the character of Tuck; it was a bit harder to really connect with Cricket, but overall I enjoyed reading both of their perspectives here. My only real complaint is that this really could (and should) be expended into a longer book--I'd love to see their research continue, for one, but also Tuck's backstory really deserves longer treatment. If this book were expanded into a full-size novel, I'd be snapping it up in a heartbeat. As it stands, it's definitely a fun, quick read to help warm you up on a cold winter morning.

As a fan of Christine Bell's work I was excited to get my hands on this novella by her alter ego. And it totally lived up to the standard of work I am used to reading by Ms Bell.
Tucker Lamb is a reformed bad boy but as any one knows you can never truly make a bad boy good. Cricket Malloy loves herself a bad boy but she sure isn't expecting the buttoned up science teacher to fall into that category. So she is completely surprised and thrown for a loop when he's not at all what she expected.
This is a sexy novella and with all good ones it ended way to soon and i most definitely wanted more.
This was a HOT, HOT, HOT! For the number of pages I can clearly say this one burned my kindle. Cricket was a super fun girl and the best part, she’s not afraid of sharing a great night with someone. I really liked the way these two acted as grown up and decided their sexual life without embarrassment and drama, plus their test made everything more fun. Tucker for me started a little slow, but he grew in this book and there’s another story that was a bit excessive for me and strange, so the reason for the 4 stars.
This is a really sexy and cute read that features a human sexuality professor and a buttoned-up science teacher. The characters are so well described that they seem real. I loved the hero Tucker Lamb and his little secret. The tension between the heroine, Cricket Malloy and hero, Tucker is awesome. The writing is great, hot and an easy read. The little twist with Tucker being placed in the witness protection program is great. As mentioned, this is a great read. * Received ARC from Publisher for an honest and unbiased review *

This was a very quick hot and spicy read. I loved the chemistry between Cricket and Tucker. It was interesting to see their reactions to their tests and how they became the opposites of their normal behavior. The little twist towards the end threw me for a second but I liked the way it helped solidify their feelings and realizations. Wished it would have been a little longer though.
Conned was a surprise for me. I didnt expect it to be so....ummm....HOT! It was a great story with a big twist there at the end and I loved it! You know what they say about the quiet guys? Well that apparently holds true with Tucker Lamb! He and the herione Cricket Malloy have some major chemistry going in this book. My only complaint was I wish it had been longer. ;)
I will no longer be hosting my reviews in Goodreads. All books I have personally reviewed will be linked back to my blog on BookLikes for all of you to see! :)
This book was a little different than books I have read. I enjoyed both characters and the manner in which they came together. However I felt like the ending was too quick. I didn't get enough emotion from them.
So it was enjoyable... till the end. Then it just seemed... I don't know the whole plot twist just didn't seem that... right. I think it was due to the short nature of the story.
