such an amazing final issue! this run definitely became a comfort read for me. i liked how everyone's stories wrapped up, and i especially LOVED the girls. i can't wait to see more of them in other runs :))
I am so sad this is over! It's not very often you get a superhero book that is unapologetically made with women readers in mind as the primary demographic. What do we have to do to get a sequel with Barbara Gordon in with this group?
Kinda feeling mixed about this one. As usual, the art is fantastic and I do appreciate the message of womanhood and women supporting women. In the society we live in, it’s most likely that the only person a woman can rely on is another woman. The Sirens really stuck out for each other and did their best to stop a villain preying on women when the cops could barely do shit.
I’m not sure if I liked the villain, a woman claiming the innocent women she’s killing are toxic ? And poisoning Gotham? Girl idk.. kind of a lame villain with a lame motivation. The message is women supporting women but then the villain was a woman killing women. That just fell flat for me idk. Should’ve just made it a man and made it like a metaphor for the patriarchy or something idk lol. Anything like that might’ve just been better.
Still don’t really like Dinah and Ollie’s wedding storyline. She said they can’t cancel or postpone the wedding bc of stuff like “it’s Ollie’s dream wedding” and his “family’s dream wedding”. She makes it sound like she’s getting married more for Ollie’s sake and for his family, like she’s getting married bc that’s what he wants and he and his family are expecting. She was always overwhelmed with wedding planning she just let everybody else handle her shit for her while she went off to go after Horoscope. I do believe she loves Ollie but I really felt like she just dgaf about the wedding like idk….
The plots with Harley/Ivy and Catwoman/Batman were also just so??? The fight between Harley/Ivy was off screen, we see them fight in the beginning and then at the end communicate their issues but it’s like ? How am I supposed to know what’s going on between them if we didn’t get any context like it makes their resolution and admittance of love feel so bleh. And then Catwoman not knowing Batman and Bruce Wayne were the same guy…. now Bruce being a dumbass and assuming I can believe, but Selina not figuring it out sooner ? Or catching his hints? Idk that just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, she’s a smart woman and spent so much damn time with Bruce/Batman I would’ve assumed she knew as well.
Overall, this was just kind of a mess and I wish it was better. I wasn’t really a fan of the way the relationships were handled and the villain was lame and one dimensional. Womp.

While I couldn’t help but laugh at the end because of the immediate comparison my mind made to the Evangelion “congratulations” ending, that was a pretty sweet ending. No super hero wedding can ever be uneventful, and imagining the perspective from the Justice league just trying to chill out and enjoy the reception…only for the sirens and a villain to burst in and ruin everything is absolutely hilarious without them being privy to all of the prior detective work. It’s especially hilarious how perfect everything worked out with the stars literally aligning on the day of Dinah’s wedding…which also happened to be booked in an observatory. It was the perfect trap to find Horoscope without anyone even realizing it. And her defeat is swift and satisfying as ultimately she is a toxic Italian woman with a knife vs black canary. She never stood a chance. I also find it hilarious how thrown off Horoscope was by the Justice league not fighting the sirens like this isn’t Black Canary’s wedding and her word isn’t gold here. But of course the standout of the final issue is all the relationships, and the great character designs (especially Horoscope’s final outfit), finally coming back together. Dinah and Ollie constantly falling head over heels for each other is adorable, Selina is made aware of Bruce/Batman being the same person as the two work together to grow closer, and Harley and Ivy get back together after talking it out, setting clear expectations, and still being madly in love with each other. So of course the issue ends where we started…a sirens brunch outing, except this time we get to the ending I mentioned at the start where the entire restaurant comps their meal and literally claps for them for being the heroes the women of Gotham City need. Which actually makes it even funnier considering Barbara’s previous comments about wanting to be included to help them save even more lives.

Amazingly, the italian is immediately more stileted in the first word of this issue. "Mi amore" is not italian, it should be mio because Gotham is masculine and I would personally still use the article the or il, or even better "Amore mio" which is the actual local way to say my love. And god this is isn't even google translated because that one does it correctly. Not even google translating each word makes that mistake. The word Mi is not a adjective meaning mine, it is a direct object preposition used before verbs, indirect object meaning "to me" or the reflexive pronoun myself. None of those apply. I should not have to explain this to a multi million dollar comany in fucking google reviews.
Why is Dinah firing all the bridsmaids and replancing them with sirens on HER FUCKING WEDDING? They're barely your friends. Barbara seems to barely react to this widly out of character behavior. Why is everyone ok with just letting the villain do their plan at an actual wedding with real civilizians? Why are wonder woman, green lantern and a fuck ton of other heros just standing back while the sirens do their thing? Guy pls stop the supervillain oh my god.
Ahhhhh it had to come to an end somehow! And although it didn't end with the bang I thought it could of, it was wrapped in a nice, sweet little bow which isn't very siren-esque but exactly what I needed. I love that everyone was able to band together and set aside their differences for the greater good and by the end, Dinah and Ollie, Batman/Bruce and Selina, and Ivy and Harley could all reconcile their love.
I thought Portia's capturing was a bit soft but it's better than having her still running loose and amuck. I also wish the Justice League had more of a play in things.
What really worked: the artwork! The writing may not have been what it could have been but the beauty that is the artwork could not in any way be denied! Like how, Sway? I rounded up from 3 stars to 4 stars given how amazing the artwork was in this issue and all thoughtout the series overall. Would I purchase these covers again: Hell yeah!
I'm sad it's over. I'm here all day everyday for the girl power!
This was actually such a perfect ending. It's hard to nail the ending to a serious, and it's even harder to write the perfect ending for someone who had mixed feelings about this series. And I did have mixed feelings about this series, and never expected it to all get tied up so perfectly. I absolutely loved this issue. All the relationship talk worked great. I loved all the wedding scenes. Barbara talking with the Sirens at the end was great (I'd love a team up with all five of them tbh) And the ending was a bit sappy, but I did really enjoy it.
What a finale! I laughed. I cried. I got goose bumps. Everything you want in a great story ending. All wrapped up in a bow, all threads tied up. Loved every page of all four-issues! Well done ladies.
This had great dialogue, fantastic art, a good story, and a satisfying conclusion. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it ended. I hope that we get more of this from the same team.
This is the fourth and final installment of this mini series. It is a perfectly fitting grand finale to a story that celebrates the wisdom and power of the women of Gotham City!
