Sequel to Electrify His Heart
Microchips and Purity: Book Two

Noah wasn't born. He was created, a clone of Guiding Light Uriel, someone superior to him in every way. Noah is an instrument, and he knows it. He believes it, sees it in his mind and in his skin, breathes it every single day of his life—except for the moments he spends with Logan Maxfield. Logan makes him feel loved, makes him think he might have worth beyond being his brother's copy, and allows him to hope that his secrets and sins might not own him. Even if he knows he has no right to Logan's affection, he cannot help but seek refuge in Logan's arms. He cannot help but love Logan.

Against all odds, Logan feels the same. But when Noah's nightmares start to come true, when the images haunting his dreams invade his reality, their love threatens to be extinguished before it can fully flare into being. Noah is a clone, fading away like the imperfect copy he is. But Logan isn't about to give up so easily. He belongs to Noah, and he will do everything in his power to save his lover, even if it means short-circuiting his own soul.

Alana Ankh

ALANA ANKH is a hopeless romantic. Once upon a time—no, not in the Stone Ages, but when Alana was a nosy teenager—she lived and breathed mainstream romance, but after she discovered m/m…. Well, her fate was sealed.

Regardless of the genre, Alana thinks love can be painful, heartbreaking, but also fun, corny, and a little silly. Love is different for everyone and anyone—and in her books, she tries to celebrate that.

Alana also loves sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal. But even if her boys have scales, fur, claws, fangs—or whatever else occurs to her—they’re really very nice people. Most of the time. Well…. Most of them are nice, but all of them deserve love and a HEA.

When Alana isn’t feeding her addiction to happily-ever-afters and hot men, she’s randomly slaying monsters in MMORPGs or thinking up the next idea to share with readers.

I want to start off by saying how much I loved book one of this series, Electrify His Heart. It was engaging with an interesting plot and strong characters. I was looking forward to Noah’s story.

Short-circuit His Soul starts out strong; we get a little refresher as to what is going on, presented quite uniquely. We see the attraction between Noah and Logan; we get a sense of their plight.

However, I felt things fell apart shortly thereafter into clichéd soap opera story lines and tropes. People coming back from the dead, illogical twists, betrayal, and dire situations that were over the top, caused me to roll my eyes repeatedly. It lost the edge the first book had.

I also disliked the rationale for people’s behavior; it seemed contrived to generate angst rather than craft legitimate reactions. By the end, my emotions were played and I was just hoping for it to be over.

Perhaps you may have a different opinion. I was disappointed.

As a clone, everything Noah thought he knew of himself, was wrong. Now he’s just a carbon copy of Uriel, his brother, that no one accepts. The only person who really gets him is Logan. The one person who hated Uriel more than anything for his cause in the way the world is now. But as time goes on, Noah starts having nightmares and getting sick. With Logan at his side the whole time, will Noah be able to survive long enough to see Uriel save the world or will things end before Noah can really experience his life with Logan at his side?

I absolutely LOVED Electrify His Heart so getting back to this world was a definite treat. I absolutely love the whole cyborg aspect of it and how Uriel is both the cause and cure for all cyborgs. With this one, I was intrigued to get Noah’s story because he’s such a sad character. I loved being able to see him and experience his feelings; of how he thinks of himself as a useless copy of Uriel. Logan made things a lot more interesting though because of how he bonded with Noah so quickly. It was sweet how Logan put Noah first over everything and did his hardest to keep him safe and healthy.

I really loved this one but I was thrown when it skipped ahead a few years. I was really looking forward to seeing more of Logan and Noah together, getting to know each other and exploring the world that Noah’s just discovered. But, unfortunately, the story starts with them seemingly already into their relationship (even if they don’t admit it). Then when the time skips ahead, I was a little disappointed that we lost all that and everything’s changed again to the point Noah & Logan still don’t spend much time together.

Overall, though, I still really adored this book. I love, love, love the world and the characters. Noah was such a heartbreaking character but I loved how dedicated Logan was to him. I hope there’s more of this series to come because I’d love to see who gets their story next! Especially with the way it ended!!!
