Jon Brighten had a brand new college degree, a student loan dogging him, and a spot to sleep on his sister's couch. He knew needed to find a job and move out, especially when he heard that his sister and her husband were expecting a baby. It was time to find his own place, but first he needed a job.
Applying for the personal assistant position to the reclusive Nikolas Vaile, CEO of Vaile Industries, one of the largest pharmaceutical and research companies in the world, seemed a little too high seeking, but what did Jon have to lose?
His blood?

About Me I believes the only thing sexier than a man in cowboy boots is two, or three men in cowboy boots. I also believes in love at first sight, soul mates, true love, and happy endings.
I live in the great Northwest region of the USA, with my gorgeous husband and soul mate, two boxer/collie puppies, one old biddy cats, and three fish. When I'm not being a mother to my six teenagers or cleaning up after my two 70 pound lap puppies, you can usually find me cuddled in bed with a book in my hand and a puppy in my lap. Or on my laptop, creating the next sexy man for one of my stories.

What do I do ? I'm a writer of erotic, paranormal, werewolf, futuristic, contemporary, gay, and Ménage a Trois romances. I'm currently published with Siren Publishing, Torquere Press, and Noble Ellora's Cave.
I love to read books by Stormy Glenn. She's always writing something unique, and I actively seek out unique stories. I've never been disappointed in Stormy.
"The Vampire's Assistant" has a neat concept. Jon is dead broke with no job, and he's been crashing at his sister's place for quite awhile. He's finally got an interview, but everything that could possibly go wrong goes wrong. The final straw was an old woman slipping on some ice and landing right on top of him. He broke her fall, but he missed the interview. After that, he gets a phone call from that same old woman (And just how did she get his number??) telling him that she's gotten him an interview for the position of personal assistant to NIkolas Vaile, a man who owns a lucrative research company. He's very rich, and he's HOT! Anyway...through a series of pretty funny events, Jon finds himself in Nikolas's bed, feeling groggy, but extremely attracted to his rescuer.
That's it. I think I've given you way too much information already. I just want to go over a few things that made me enjoy "The Vampire's Assistant" so much. First of all, it was a rather short read. I was in the mood for something sexy that I'd be able to finish before I drifted off into a satisfied sleep, and that is exactly what I got. Next, I loved the characters. They all fit together nicely, from Nikolas and Jon, to the background characters. Third, there was a nice underlying plot where you sensed that there is danger lurking around every corner, and Nikolas and his awesome head of security, Louis, must protect Jon and their families as well as themselves.
A separate paragraph is needed to talk about the chemistry between Nikolas and Jon. Right off the bat they generate a LOT of heat. They're explosive when they're near each other, especially since their bond is sealed, and they must remain close, or they feel the distance in a physical way. The sex is off the charts. Not only that, it's romantic and sweet. It warmed my heart to see how tenderly Nikolas treated Jon, and how, once he accepted this new life of his, Jon begins to take care of Nickolas as much as he's taken care of.
This book is a nice little gem. If you like your vampires hot, your Manlove sweet and sexy, your characters fitting perfectly into the plot, and a an ending that leaves you smiling and wanting more, then "The Vampire's Assistant" is for you. I'm giving this a very solid four stars.
In a supernatural variation on “rags to riches”, this is a story about hope, finding your true love where and when you least expect it, and the overpowering charm of a centuries-old vampire who suddenly finds himself at the mercy of a human man unwilling to take his “importance” too seriously. Told with a great deal of humor, ‘The Vampire’s Assistant’ is a sweet romance with a touch of suspense and a lot of heart.
Really? You wake up in a stranger’s bed, in his arms, and he is reluctant to even allow you out of his embrace, and your first thought is, “Oh, I must have fainted. How embarrassing.” Admittedly, our boy does not notice the bed right away, but do people frequently lie down to cuddle with strangers who fainted? What else have I missed out on in my life?
It’s vamp man though who takes the cake for not even communicating the basics of what happened to this human who has no idea of anything, but instead lets him leave and suffer through confusion, fear and separation alone. Jeez.
Then there are oddities, or just sloppiness. Like Gina. First she is Jon’s baby sister, then she morphs into his big sister.
Moods shift abruptly and I kept being surprised by the author informing me that someone was being gloomy when they hadn’t given that impression at all. Or by the way they seemed to completely drop the ball on certain plot threads for longer periods of time. As an example, Jon goes from out of his mind with worry over to playing around.
There are strong elements of comedy or farce after a while as well, making it hard to take the serious bits seriously. While it’s perfectly possible to balance those two moods and this author sometimes does it very well, it’s not really working for me here. Maybe because the moods, as I mentioned, are all over the place to begin with.
Altogether this reminded me of a hugely unsuccessful re-write of Just A Vampire by the same author. Pretty much the same plot in some ways, but the older book had significantly better execution, as far as I recall.
It was ridiculous. It's like a sugary cotton-candy: extremely sweet with no substance whatsoever, that makes your teeth ace the longer you consume it. I read it, got some enjoyment, but it was short-lived and empty.
There is no romance, the pace was all over the place, jumping from one event to another, sliding from happy to frantic mood without any prompt or reason why. Characters changed the way they interacted without giving us a reason, like all the relationship and bonding thing happened somewhere in the background and we were served only the dregs of the real deal.
And I really did not like how it started, with Nikolai's one-sided claiming, and him not giving any thought of Jon's own feelings about the matter and not calling Jon by his name, even thou Jon repeatedly told him to, and not explaining to Jon ANYTHING before first attacking him and then assaulting him, since Jon NEVER agreed to the sex or bonding.
I felt almost like the movie started and I missed the first 20 minutes and kind of play catch up.
Plus.. rajaaka and petjya? weird ass names that I'm guessing on how to pronounce..even found meself sounding it out back to back a few times like I'm stuck on repeat.
The name... Jon isn't the assistant... after bonding he 'tells' Nik that he should be his assistant but still doesn't feel like the real deal. And the multitude of incidents makes Louis as head security questionable, which Jon mentions but it's kind of blown off with some explanation of letting them see what weaknesses there are.. I just didn't get THAT at all.
I'm sure there are other inconsistencies that I'm not remembering.
Let's see what we have... Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance: check M/M: check vampires: check HEA: don't know, as I didn't finish.
What should be added to the list...
Stupid behavior: Does one really wake up in a stranger's bed and feel embarrassed over fainting and then have sex with said stranger, only to be put out for not getting the job?
Editor needed: Younger sister suddenly becomes older sister. No explanations from the vamp to his mate. Sex solves all! Where's the stupid BDSM warning?!
I absolutely adored Nikolas and Jon’s story. After having met them, so to speak, in ‘Stormy Glenn’s Convention’ I really wanted their backgrounds because Jon appealed to me immediately. Particularly considering he’s human and yet all the vamps seem just a little wary of him.
This was such fun. A definitely humorous and sexy tale. Now, I’m going to jump into the sequel.
This was a very creative and enthralling read. I loved Jon and his relationship with Nikolas (vampire). They were so cute together and I found Jon to be quite humurous and adorable a majority of the time. The writing was excellent and the pace flowed nicely. The characters were fascinating, especially Louis, and I'm excited to read the next book in the series. Overall, an amusing and very sexy story. =)
I dnf'd this book at 65%, it's quite a short book so I read more than I expected. This book was full of convenient plot. I might have like it if I were at least ten years younger, but now it just annoys me. Nikolas is the typical extremely hot/handsome, mighty rich and creepy stalker of a vampire. And Jon is the typical one that's ok with the creepy stalker aspect, because he's handsome and rich.
If I were Jon I would be furious and devastated at being forced into something like that. I can't read more of this, I can't enjoy their relationship, it's just wrong.
Jon saves Penelope from a bad fall and in return, she calls him about a job offer. When Jon hands over his resume, he gets a papercut. This leads to him being bonded to Nikolas who is both the CEO of Vaile Industries and leader of the vampire tribe. Jon leaves for a while but returns to Nikolas's side. They fall for each other and Jon accepts being Nikolas' rajaaka to his petjya which is like being married but much more. They deal with rogue vampires and a sleezy step father as they explore their love.
This was such a fun short story. It was quick to read and had me giggling. I loved the whole concept of someone going to interview for a job and finding out there are vampires in the world. I also loved the whole being mate to the head vampire.
My favorite thing about the book was Jon's attitude though. I loved how he was so spunky and didn't take crap from Nikolas. I also loved how he interacted with the head of security. It just made for a very interesting read that was light hearted.
Cute, "fluffy," read. There really isn't much to the storyline beyond the blurb. I was hoping we would have a little more depth than the story had. It was cute but the two MC's relationship isn't backed up. One moment Jon is freaking out and basically saying NO! then he is fine with everything. Shortly with no true action to back it up he is in love. Still that is what books like this are usually. I just was hoping for a little more.
Call me crazy, but if I pay almost $5, I have certain ... shall we say, expectations ? This book did not meet them at all, to the point that I just couldn’t bring myself to finish it. There are way too many things to mention, and I don’t feel like writing a long ass review explaining it. Suffice it to say, the story and the characters were grossly underdeveloped.
3.5 Stars. MM. Paranormal= Vampires Jon Brighten and Nikolas Vaile. Somewhat Entertaining. No Great stretch of the Imagination or Thinking Power required to read. Just a good book to sit back and relax with. If you want a book to just Read without having to give the book Great thought or attention, this is the Book / Series for you. Recommend.

I wasn't expecting insta-lust and acceptance from Jon. Background and series building felt more like an add on than part of the plot. I enjoyed it more when I first read it as part of the Bite Here anthology in 2012.
Sexy little read, but not as new as one could expect. The story and world seem like a mixture of the vampire series by Linsay Sands and Lara Adrian just with m/m.
