This was a surprisingly fantastic storyline.
Finally, something different, the blurb really doesn’t do this story justice; there is a lot happening here.
The author writes with excellent descriptiveness, painting a vivid picture for the reader and it captivates your intrigue and arouses the senses and emotions with deep action, edge of your seat suspense and deliciously deep fears that might or might not come true. Because of the mate bond and Silas being your typical dominate Alpha, his and Katie’s encounters are red hot so if you don't like spicy, and I mean ghost pepper spicy, then you need to stop now. But you really shouldn’t, it is not your typical story, and you don’t want to miss this one. "This is my honest review of an advanced reader copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily."

This book is better than the cover leads you to believe.

I was expecting your average (trashy) shifter romance but this was a surprise. The writing was unique and well written and while the characters weren’t totally my cup of tea, they were very compelling. The FMC is smart and capable. The mmc is tough and hot but he’s kind of mean. But I think that’s part of the appeal The pacing slowed a bit in the third quarter but the ingenuity of the writing made up for it. Definitely worth a read!

I'm leery of a new shifter book but this one was quite good. There weren't the pack element and a few other tweaks that differentiated it from the norm. Katie is in the mountains & feels like she's being watched. She's attracted the attention of a skin walker. Silas is far from home and catches the scent of his mate. The ONLY GOOD AND ENJOYABLE thing about this book is the male mc. The main character is so fucking dumb. I’m so pissed rn. She keeps making the very obvious wrong decisions and keeps making shit worse bc she lacks the intelligence to just LISTEN. Holy shit. Don’t read this shit unless you like female main character who can’t listen and make the wrong decisions knowing they shouldn’t but still do it. 🖕🏻

This was a pretty good read, but the ending kinda fell flat. There was a good build up & then there was a "MIB" type ending. Still, it was a good read, especially if you need a five minute break. That's the only way I'd recommend it. It's short & decent enough to keep you entertained. On to the next!

I freaking ate this book up! It was phenomenal! The plot, the spice, the shifter element; just everything. I got lost in the pages of this book. And Silas, he is definitely slightly unhinged, but unhinged for his mate. There was a slight twist on the fated mates trope in this one and I was here for that unique aspect.

But WOW for a short story this was PACKED with a good plot, as much world building as possible, and some heat. It feels like this could be a good prequel to an entire supernatural series on shifters and skinwalkers.

I would've liked this book to have been just a tad longer for a little mroe character development and cleaner tying of the plot at the end. The smut was a little to much for me so I genuinely skimmed past all of those scenes. I felt like the ending was rushed and I did not like that.
