Clay's Hope is a retelling of Hope(less) from Clay's perspective. I was beyond excited for this book because Clay is my favorite leading man in the JO6 Series. Since he doesn't talk until the very end of the book, we have been left to wonder what was going on in that quiet gorgeous head of his.......until now. If you thought you you couldn't love Clay anymore you are sadly mistaken! This book will leave you having nonfictional love for a fictional character. I thought I had a fair idea of the man Clay was. Boy was i wrong. His feelings were so much bigger and rawer than i could have ever imagined. I was left crying at the depths of his pain and feelings that we never expected from this quietly patient man. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that Clay was actually quite funny as well! All the scenes I was hoping to hear from his perspective were here plus so much more! Pick up this book, and fall in love with Clay.....just know I already called dibbs!

This was fun and dull at the same time. Fun because we got Clay's POV and Dull because it was same story as Hopeless. Nothing new or exiting or another adventure of his own happened. Okay some of things happened but it wasn't completely new or wasn't something you can't guess by reading Hopeless.
I wanted to understand why Clay didn't speak to Gabby when I read Hopeless and I though it'd have been better explained in this one, but I still can't see the point -
If I'd spoken, even just one word, I would have never been able to hold back what I felt for you. You would have run.
Talk about intense!
Anyways, I enjoyed spending time in Clay's head and it was freebie from Amazon so I can't complain much. Though I now wonder whether I would read Emmitt's story or not.

This is the first book in the companion series that accompanies The Judgement of The Six series. I loved reading in Hope(less) how Gabby fell in love with Clay. What I learned from reading Clay's Hope is how difficult, and heart wrenching this entire affair was for Clay. It is such an amazing love story. Clay put up with a lot because he knew he belonged with Gabby forever!! This is a must read!

Clay's Hope is a companion novel that was supposed to be a novella to Hope(less) and usually, I might pick these up after reading the entire main series if I ever get around to it. Commonly they're well, novellas, just a couple chapters told from the guy's perspective. I think Midnight Sun was my first. . .huh.
Anyway so this was supposed to be shorter only it isn't and is basically the entire Hope(less) told from Clay's perspective and I couldn't be more thrilled, especially since that was the last book I read and could remember and relate and compare everything and it was just brilliant.
This book really emphasises on how simple men are and how easy too xD
Oh and if anyone's wondering, these books are very clean. Not enough to put you off (cause you're probably not the intended age like me :p) but definitely enough that I could go around recommending this to thirteen-year-olds...

DNF Thank God it was free.
Stopped at 32% and I'm still not sure why I kept on going as far as I did.
It started out promising despite the mediocre writing and slowly went downhill.
There was NO conflict. It was basically a story about an 18 year old girl and her dog. Cute, but not what I'm looking to read. I need some umpf, not just boring crap about a girl taking care of a dog, watching movies, reading books, and eating sandwiches.
Seriously...
The girl is a human, mate to werewolf Clay who doesn't speak. The heroine insults and demeans him for all that I have read, yet he follows her everywhere like a beaten dog. He stays in wolf form and keeps saying she doesn't see him as a man. Not sure what the hell that means, in fact there are a lot of obscure statements that leave me baffled.
We are not told until 30% that the h who is 18, is constantly bombarded with men's attentions.. creepy, ewww, and sounds a bit narcissistic.... so she keeps to herself and avoids men.
Truly, this book is not for me. There is nothing of substance here. The characters are weak, flat and shallow.
Time to move on.

Oh my god.... Seriously, I think this might actually be my favourite book out of the entire series!!! I love clay and gabby's developing relationship, I think the fact that they took time to get to know one another makes them a stronger couple in the end... This is a must read for lovers of romance!

Writing reviews for Melissa Haag's books is always a difficult task for me, because nothing I say ever seems to be adequate and I feel like a broken record every time. This book is amazing. There, I said it. Done. (Repeat)
For those that have not read Hope(less) yet, this is the other side of the story. I have read Hope(less) three times and catch something new every time. I don't read books more than once. I've only done that with one other book. There is just something about Melissa's writing that draws me in on a whole different level. It is a something that is missing from so many novels that are published recently. She is the only author I would willingly put down a current read to read hers first and am never afraid that I will be disappointed.
I typically DO NOT read "companion" novels. I don't really get the point of reading the same story from another point of view. I'd rather move on. But, come on... it's Clay. I loved it. I laughed, cried and still wanted to throw stuff at Gabby, even though I love her face. The Judgement of the Six series is being told from the female and not a dual point of view, which I love, because it leaves a little mystery to the other side when you don't know what they are feeling. However, because of Clay's unusual nature, his story so needed to be told. I am honestly looking forward to the other companion novels as well.

I was lucky enough, or stalker-ish enough(it’s all about perspective) to get an advanced reader’s copy of this from Melissa for an honest review.
Not since Harry Potter have I been so excited for a release of a book!
Clay’s Hope is the companion to Hope(less), the first book in the Judgment of the Six series. It’s the story from Clay’s point of view.
Now, before you think that it can’t be that interesting, think again!
I could not put this book down and only my love for my electricity had me going to work rather than calling off just to read more.
I don’t know how Melissa Haag does it, but she managed to tell a completely new story. To the point that if you haven’t already read Hope(less) you would be ok to read this, (but why would you when it’s so good and free).
She blew me away with Clay’s version of things, from a comical male’s point of view, to a sadness I had no idea was going on in Gabby’s book. I can’t give her enough praise for her creativeness.
I was so sad when this ended, I could read about this couple forever. Keep your eye on this author, she is going places!

Clay's Hope was AEWSOME!! If you've read Hope(less) then you know Clay doesn't talk during the whole book, except at the end. This book is his point of view. You will not be disappointed at all. Yes, it's basically the same book as Hope(less), but also so much different.
You see things and events that take place from his perspective. And also events that happen when Gabby isn't around. This book made me love Clay even more.
On Facebook Amber S. and I are battling each other to win Clay. It's all in the name of fun. We love Clay that much. We made a deal to take everyone down who wants him..Haha. Then we are back to fighting each other. We are dedicated readers of Melissa Haag, and to Clay..
Just remember CLAY IS MINE AND ALWAYS WILL BE. (After I take everyone down). Lol. :)
And I don't think I've ever laughed so much in a book before. That was a nice change. Five stars for this awesome book. :)

I liked this book enough to finish it. Told from Clay's perspective, the story is an interesting spin on alpha werewolf meets his destined mate. Inarticulate to the point of total silence, Clay follows his destined mate to college in his wolf form and spends much of the book pretending to be her dog - some of which is extremely funny including an ill-considered vet visit. In the end, there wasn't enough actual dialog and communication to make up for the creative POV. As part of a series, the story ends a little abruptly (with an HFN) and the next book appears to be the same story from Gabby's point of view.

I actually enjoyed this companion novel more than the original one! Seeing events through Clay's eyes made SO much more sense to the overall story. Gabby is still the self-centered annoying person we see in the original but through Clay's eyes we at least get a glimpse at why he does what he does and stays with her!

Clay's Hope was everything I wanted in a change of POV book. I got so much more out of the story by experiencing it from Clay's POV! I adored Hope(less), thought it was fresh, unique and very intriguing! The Judgement of the Six series gets better and better with every installment and I have to say that Clay's Hope only adds to the overall story! I had no idea it was even possible, but it also makes you fall in love with Clay even more than you already had after reading Hope(less)!
If you haven't read Hope(less) this may be a little bit of a spoiler, but Clay doesn't talk to Gabby for most of the book and so being able to get into his head is really, really exciting! This isn't just a retelling because you have no idea what is going on with Clay during the entire book, you get to guess and presume things just like Gabby does when she is with the man of few words. So in Clay's book you actually get to know the motivating factors behind all his actions (hint hint it's all about Gabby *swoon*). You find out what is going on as well as his struggles of trying to be a man for the first time in his life, and although he isn't comfortable outside of his fur, he knows that a human girl like Gabby is worth it!
Clay is surprising hilarious, inventive, and resourceful. He also is compassionate, emotional and full of love. It is a journey for both Clay and the reader to discover that he never expected to find those qualities within himself. Clay is nothing less than dedicated and willing to step outside of his comfort zone to be with the one he is fated with.
This companion book has done nothing but fuel my desires to get a POV book from each mate in the Jot6 series! It was so well done, that I barely thought I was reading a story I already knew & loved! I don't even want to tell you how sad I was when the book ended that I thought I was missing pages in my arc, it just couldn't be over, I wanted it to keep going, to know more, to watch Clay and Gabby continue their lives together.

After reading Hope(less) I couldn't imagine that this book will be different. Just a recap. I was a bit sceptical, as Clay is not really talkative... and I was afraid that it will be just description of the events... How wrong I was!
Clay's Hope is a beautiful story of a man, who was not looking for love, but was hoping deep down that he will find the one and only. How shocked he was, when he met her during Introduction to other potential mates. His panicked mode made him to come with this genius plan to not talk to Gabby, his mate. I laughed so hard at that.
But the story is beautiful. It shows how the slow progression between Gabby and him in their relationship was difficult and heart breaking was for him. During many occasions he thought that she was giving up, and he was closing up even more, because he was afraid that he will start beginning her to stay with.
Even all the torment and situations, where he was so scared of losing Gabby, he is also really funny. He can laugh and be quite mean. Haha the scene with his first laundry? OMG...I cried so hard from laugh :D
Loved this book.

Yes I read it in one day. After reading Hope (less) months ago I have been looking forward to more Clay and Gabby. I was offered the ARC for an honest review. Clay's POV broke my heart made me laugh and made me love him even more. This book also answers questions from Gabby's book. Even though the answers made me LOL. All of Melissa Haags books bring out emotions in me. They are YA and I would recommend them for readers of all ages

I find it so funny that I'm giving this book 5 stars and I gave Hope(less) 4 stars. But to be fair, this book would be nothing without Hope(less) so all the glory goes to the first book!
I am so glad I found this book before I moved on to a different series because everything from Hopeless is still fresh on my mind. It was so nice to finally get insight into Clay’s mind because he was a closed book until the end of Hopeless. I was able to see what a sweetheart was and how much she affected him, despite his indifference their first meeting. And the fact that he saw her first and held back!! Most, if not all, of his emotions were misinterpreted by Gaby and I was so eager to see what he really thought in each scene, like shrugging in order to mask how overeager he was. SO CUTE.

Loved getting a look into Clay's head with this one. It was so interesting to see how well Gabby's interpretations of his non-verbal communication matched up with his true intentions.

4.5 stars — I actually enjoyed this book more the second time around! I think that’s because I already knew what to expect from it, and it’s amazing what changing your expectations can do to affect your enjoyment. Clay was just so adorable, I just really ended up enjoying seeing the story from his perspective.

And since Clay never spoke through almost the entirety of Hope(less), I really wanted to know what he was thinking!! And since I LOVED Clay, I had high hopes for this book. And I, personally, really enjoyed it. But I didn't love it as much as I was expecting.
So what I loved: I got into Clay's head. I loved that what I thought I knew was going on in Clay's head based on his reactions and Gabby's conclusions weren't always correct. For example, when she bought the used car. It was actually kind of hilarious. And I LOVED knowing his feelings for her, and seeing all he was trying to do to prove he would be a great mate for her. It actually broke my heart at times, and almost made me dislike Gabby a bit more, but oh well.
Oh the bad side, other than getting inside Clay's head for most of the events of Hope(less), we really didn't get a lot in addition to that. I mean, yeah, we got to see him get the job and fight the challengers, but there really wasn't a lot of new content otherwise. In particular I was hoping we would get more about his past and how he grew up and how it shaped him. But it really wasn't there, which I guess is consistent with the lack of background we got on Gabby. So I was still disappointed in that. I really felt like more could have been done in both books in that respect.
So all in all, if you are a fan of alternative POVs, you'll enjoy this one. If you don't get them, then you should probably avoid. You really aren't getting a lot of new stuff in this book, it's really like a novel written for fans. Which I am, so yay for me.

Let’s talk characters. Here we get to see the exact same story as Hope(less)... but in Clay’s POV. In Hope(less), Clay really came off as standoffish, shy, cold, and insecure. It is absolutely outstanding was perspective does to a character, because reading this story through Clay’s eyes you feel the exact same way about Gabby. It is shocking how many things Gabby was wrong about when she was trying to communicate with Clay. (Can we say awkward to the whole used car scene?). Reading Clay’s side of the story really gave you a good understanding on how both characters felt during the events that take place of the book, and because of that, you are able to understand them and the book so much better than before.
Plot wise the book was exactly the same. See my review of Hope(less) (via my blog bookbutterflyreviews.blogspot.ca) for my comments on that
As for writing, what can I say other than Melissa Haag has done it again. I don’t know how she wrote this book. Did she have to have Hope(less) open the entire time? Was there a lot of copy and paste involved? I don’t know! But what I can tell you is that for writing the exact same story, just in another characters point of view, it didn’t feel repetitive. I was nervous that the book was going to be exactly the same with a few of Clay’s thoughts here and there (lets face it, he doesn’t actually talk all that much). But it really was something completely different. I didn’t get a Gabby vibe reading Clay’s Hope. Clay was a completely different character with different views on life, different feelings, and a different attitude. I loved how she challenged so many things that Gabby had assumed instead of just going with those assumptions in writing Clay’s character. Amazing. Just Amazing.
Overall, I can’t rave about this book more. If you haven’t read Hope(less), I suggest you do before you read Clay’s Hope, HOWEVER, you don’t need to at all to understand the story. This was the easiest 5 stars I have ever given. I can’t wait to read Emmitt’s perspective of (Mis)Fortune! BUT, not before I FINALLY get to read Isabel’s story… I have a feeling it will be my new favourite ;)

It is shocking how many things Gabby was wrong about when she was trying to communicate with Clay. (Can we say awkward to the whole used car scene?). Reading Clay’s side of the story really gave you a good understanding on how both characters felt during the events that take place of the book, and because of that, you are able to understand them and the book so much better than before.

As for writing, what can I say other than Melissa Haag has done it again. I don’t know how she wrote this book. Did she have to have Hope(less) open the entire time? Was there a lot of copy and paste involved? I don’t know! But what I can tell you is that for writing the exact same story, just in another characters point of view, it didn’t feel repetitive. I was nervous that the book was going to be exactly the same with a few of Clay’s thoughts here and there (lets face it, he doesn’t actually talk all that much). But it really was something completely different. I didn’t get a Gabby vibe reading Clay’s Hope. Clay was a completely different character with different views on life, different feelings, and a different attitude. I loved how she challenged so many things that Gabby had assumed instead of just going with those assumptions in writing Clay’s character. Amazing. Just Amazing.
Overall, I can’t rave about this book more. If you haven’t read Hope(less), I suggest you do before you read Clay’s Hope, HOWEVER, you don’t need to at all to understand the story. This was the easiest 5 stars I have ever given. I can’t wait to read Emmitt’s perspective of (Mis)Fortune! BUT, not before I FINALLY get to read Isabel’s story… I have a feeling it will be my new favourite ;)

This book is Clay’s and Gabby’s story told from Clay’s POV. If you’d read Hope(less) you know that Clay is silent for the whole of the book with the exception of one word in the middle and at the very end. So getting this book was so enlightening. Generally I’m iffy on companion books. Most of the time they’re a rehashing of the exact same thing with no other new input. Which doesn’t work when you have a character that gives feedback, even if you don’t get their point of view. In Clay’s Hope, it works because we really don’t have a path into his mind because he’s so silent.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved getting into Clay’s head and finding out that Gabby was wrong so many times. Clay’s a great, sweet guy in Hope(less) and he still is in Clay’s Hope, but there’s more to him than that. And it makes this character oh so much more.
Ms. Haag is furthering her world of the Judgement of the Six series. And even though we re-visit the first book, we have such a new view on it, and it gives us insight into the minds of these werewolf men and their society that we can’t fully grasp with the other books. First and foremost, I think it should be said that this book on its own would be rather enjoyable, thus it’s not entirely necessary to have read any of the Judgment of the Six books, but I think you’d get the best experience by reading [Hope]less first, before Clay’s Hope.
While I certainly didn’t hate Clay in Gabby’s eyes, I now understand him more and completely adore him. In this companion novel we not only get his point of view on several important events from [Hope]less, but we also find out just what he was up to while Gabby was not around, and how he really thought of and saw her. It’s beautiful, heartbreaking, and ultimately satisfying in a way I hadn’t expected. Too often having someone else’s POV thrown into one book makes it difficult to read, especially when there’s so much rehashing. By bringing Clay’s thoughts into their own book, we not only get treated to his inner workings, but how he saw things around him, before and during his time with Gabby. Never did I find myself bored or thinking “just get on with it,” I was utterly engrossed from the moment I picked up Clay’s Hope to read. If you’d like to take a glimpse at a wholly original werewolf and human community, this book is for you! (Oh and since it’s only 99 cents and [Hope]less is still free, there’s no reason not to pick up both! It may be obvious at this point, but this is certainly a 5 star read!

"Clay's Hope" is "Hope(less)" told from Clay's POV. This didn't feel as though it was just a repeat of an existing novel. The book contains material never before seen in "Hope(less)"; therefore, those that are leery of becoming bored with repeated material have nothing to worry about. The characters are complex, well developed, and relatable. This book contains a variety of emotions that will take you on the rollercoaster ride along with the characters. I laughed and cried as they fumbled their way through getting to know each other and falling in love.
It isn't required that you read the Judgment of the Six series prior to reading "Clay's Hope" although I would recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet paranormal romance with mystery and intrigue. A book really has to stand out for me to write a review. That being said, this author's previous work had me clamoring to receive a copy of this book as soon as possible. This book and it's companion series are genius. I have fallen so in love with the characters and plot that I didn't want to put it down. Melissa Haag has changed a commonly used subject into a work of art different than any other of its type. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I was lucky enough, or stalker-ish enough(it’s all about perspective) to get an advanced reader’s copy of this from Melissa for an honest review.
Not since Harry Potter have I been so excited for a release of a book!
Clay’s Hope is the companion to Hope(less), the first book in the Judgment of the Six series. It’s the story from Clay’s point of view.
Now, before you think that it can’t be that interesting, think again!
I could not put this book down and only my love for my electricity had me going to work rather than calling off just to read more.

This was a highly anticipated book for me, and it did not disappoint!! Clay's Hope tells the story of the book Hope(less) from Clay's POV. If you have read Hope(less) then you know what goes on with Clay and Gabby. Clay's Hope is not just a repeat of Hope(less), but a new perspective and a deepening of the love story between the two. It was a wonderfully written book. Many times I was surprised by what Clay was thinking; it was not what I had expected at all! This book has added many layers to Clay's personality and has made me fall even more in love with Gabby and Clay. You need to read this book!!

"Clay's Hope" the first book in the "Judgement of the Six " a romantic and paranormal "Companion Series" centers around the struggle of a lone werewolf to claim the mate that's destined to be his. At the Compound Independent and headstrong Gabby is determined to thwart the claiming process at the informal Introductions for Unmated werewolves. But she never expects to feel a spark, a connection to Clay who the Elders have summoned to guard the door to the cabin where she's meeting potential mates. In a journey of discovery and danger Gabby must face her fears and fate as Clay unleashes a plan to win the mate he never dreamt of having.
Although retold from Melissa Haag's novel "Hope(less)" I found the concept of retelling the story from Clay's prospective not only innovative but imaginative especially as he doesn't talk through much of the narrative. Yet in his gestures and thoughts, his consideration and tenderness towards Gabby, his side of the story comes alive in a unique and realistic way.
The romance revolves around the Claiming of a human girl with a rare gift whose makeup is compatible with werewolves which are dying out because of a lack of mates. In this plot Clay is given six months for her to claim him, but that might not be enough time especially with Gabby's extreme fear of men and the rogue werewolves that continually challenge him. The plot evolves quickly and smoothly towards a climax that awakens a mystery about a new breed of werewolf that's resolved in Hope(less) and the knowledge that there might be others who are possible mates.
I did find the ending a bit anti-climatic but loved Melissa Haag's steady buildup of tension and suspense with every werewolf challenge and Gabby's reluctance to admit her feelings for Clay. I enjoyed the humorous episodes like Clay's visit to the vet, and Rachel's quizzing of his past and his intentions towards Gabby. The plot is well-developed with a fresh look at a familiar story.
Similarly the characters seem new, and are unforgettable with all their eccentricities. Clay the lone wolf without a family or pack yearns for a sense belonging but never expects that could entail claiming a mate. He's an intense and powerful werewolf, but with Gabby shows a great deal of patience, consideration, warmth and kindness. Gabby, a compatible female destined to change the fate of the packs has a reverse role in the werewolf claiming process; she must claim her mate. With a chemistry that draws men to her like flies to honey, she tends to be fearful, anxious and paranoid; a young woman with serious trust issues. These two bring passion, energy and drama to this enthralling story along with others who lend their own brand of realism.

Words cannot describe how excited I was when I heard that Melissa Haag was writing a companion series to The Judgment of the Six Series!
I've had it marked on my calendar for months. I was counting down the days until I could get "Clay's Hope" in my hands. Clay was by far my favorite male from the Judgment Series, so I was more than happy to be able to read an entire book from his point of view! This book was Clay's point of view of the book, "Hope(less)", and I recommend reading that book before reading this book.
What I really enjoyed about this book was that I got to learn so much more about Clay. I now understand Clay's character better, and I love him even more (which I didn't think was possible). I was pleasantly surprised with how Melissa was able to write this book and not make it feel like I was reading "Hope(less)" all over again.
The romance in this book was adorable. I loved everything that Clay did for Gabby, and I liked seeing their relationship develop from his eyes. I think this book was even more romantic than "Hope(less)", because I got to understand Clay's feelings for Gabby more. Clay's actions were also explained in this book, which made him even more lovable. Clay made me swoon so many times in this book, and I just want my own Clay. Please?
I am excited to read more books from the point of views of the other men in this series. I am also looking forward to more of Clay and Gabby, because they are my favorite couple in this series! I am so ready for the next book in this series to come out.
This series would be perfect for anyone looking for a sweet paranormal romance about magic and werewolves.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I give it a 4.4 out of 5 stars. Even though I loved it, there is a reason I didn't give it five stars.
Clay’s Hope tells the same story as Hope(less). I wasn't sure how I would feel about revisiting the first installment of the Six series – even though it has been my favorite one of the books.
And most of that has to do with Clay – his persistence to win Gabby at any cost. And then to protect her even before she admits she’s falling in love with him.
Every romance is more intense when you get it from the perspective of both people. One thing I feel is lacking in the Judgment of Six series is the man’s point of view. It adds tension and ups the intensity of the passion.
In fact, I liked imagining Gabby’s responses as I read Clay’s story. It was easier for my to do this than it had been to guess at Clay’s feelings while reading Gabby’s story.
Most of what Gabby assumed Clay was thinking and feeling was totally off base. That made me smile more times than I can count.
Clay wears his wolf skin for much of the book. It was interesting to get inside that head. After all, he wasn't a pet, but Rachel treated him like one. And he didn't care for that. I wouldn't either.
I've had a crush on Clay since reading the first book. He is the epitome of the strong, silent type of man, and it was interesting to really get to know him.
The reason for the four stars: I wasn't all that thrilled to revisit the same story – even though it was from a different perspective.
Romances are best when we see both sides. For that reason, I think the author should have sprinkled alternating chapters (or scenes) from the man’s perspective in the Judgment books. I feel like I’m paying for the same story twice when she tells them in separate volumes.
Still, I'm not sorry I read this book. It gave me more ammunition for my unrequited crush on Clay.

I have to say...I loved it!
This story is Hope(less) retold in Clay's POV.
I realized after reading this book that I love Clay a lot. He is funny, smart, and so interesting to learn about! He cares a lot for Gabby. It shows in everything he does for her.
I feel like this all this could be told in one book though . Switching back and forth between Clay's POV and Gabby's rather than make two different books. There was a lot of dull, repetitive spots throughout Hope(less) such as: This week they did laundry, she did homework while Clay laid next to her and read, he showered... Next week: Repeat...
It got a little boring at times. And Clay's not talking till 97% still bothers me, but at least I understand more about why he did it.
I think what gave this book 5 stars is being inside Clay's head was actually really fun. He had me rolling at times. And also that I finally understand what Clay was thinking the whole time in Hope (less). It's like all my questions are finally answered!
