Fairelle #4

Zelle and the Tower

Rate this book
Sweet and naïve Rapunzelle possesses a dangerous and powerful magick. Her entire life has been spent in a mage tower built by her father, to keep her safe. Or so she's been told.

Flint Gwyn has spent the last six months wandering Fairelle, wanting nothing more than to wash away the pain of letting family down. Between drinking and women he plummets in to despair, with only Dax the werebear to keep him from getting himself killed.

When Flint and Dax stumble into Zelle's tower while running from a dragon, she finds herself drawn to Flint in a way that awakens startling memories she cannot place. And the longer he stays, the closer she comes to losing her heart.

Unable to control his feelings for the lonely maiden who brings him peace for the first time in his life, Flint fights to release her from her prison. But in doing so, he may very well bring down the wrath of an evil that's plagued Fairelle for a hundred years.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!

The cover is unique and the classic style, but she just looks way too thin…like scary thin.

This is book 3 in the series. It is for adults only due to the steamy scenes and violence. I recommend reading the series in order so you can have the benefit of knowing and understanding each character better, but it is not required.

I really enjoyed this book, but Flint is not my favorite Gwyn brother or character. I just want to slap him for the way he acts. I think if I would have liked him more, I would have loved this book, but he just irritated me. Zelle is strong, caring, and been through some stuff. She has to worry about who she is and more as the story goes.

I love the world of Fairelle and can’t wait to read more. Rebekah does a fantastic job with her descriptions and the complex stories that are all weaving together into the fantastic world that is Fairelle. I’m not sure how long I have to wait for book 4, but I’ll be looking for it :)

I recommend this series to all those readers who love all the new fairy tale twists that have become popular lately especially if you like daemons, vampires, werewolves, fae, and more from the paranormal :)

So many errors in this book. It doesn't usually bother me but they were excessive and took away from the story, unfortunately.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Having now read the first 5 books of the Fairelle series (Red the Were Hunter, Snow the Vampire Slayer, Jamen's Yuletide Bride (a Fairelle novella), Zelle and the Tower, and Cinder the Fae), I can say with confidence that this is an excellent series. Rebekah R. Ganiere's spins on these four classic fairy tales are unlike any I've previously seen. While keeping enough of the original tale to make a clear connection, her books tell an entirely new story. This book was interesting for me, though, as I'm honestly not sure if I've ever having heard the entire tale of Rapunzel, unlike the other three fairy tales, which I have heard before again and again. Therefore, I cannot compare the two other than to know that Rapunzel and Zelle were both trapped in a tower. Even not knowing that fairy tale, this was a fantastic book. Each book in the Fairelle series has impressed me. Ganiere's writing is excellent and her stories enthralling. She gives such life to all of her characters that I find myself sucked into their lives as if everything happening to them is of consequence to me as well. One thing that has me feeling itchy with this book is not knowing exactly what happened to Rasmuss and Morgana. In each of the other three main novels in the series, we know exactly what becomes of the evil in the story. Not knowing what happened leaves us in the same position and with the same worries as Zelle and Flint: When will they attack next? When will they come for Zelle? Will they come for her at all? The book has a very HEA ending, especially for Flint who never thought it possible to have such contentment in his life, with so many of his dreams coming true. The book also ends without a cliffhanger and could be read as a standalone if desired. Having read the previous books in the series is not vital to understanding this story, but I do think having read them will definitely enrich it, making it that much better (in other words, I'd highly recommend reading the entire series; they are fantastic books). Having read Cinder the Fae first (of all the books in the series), I don't have to wait to find out what happens in that book. Ergo, I cannot wait for the story to continue with book five and am dying to find out about Dax's past! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. :)

Admit it, every time a childhood Fairy tale is retold, there is a little voice in the back of your minds that screams rather hysterically "AGAIN?!", before opening the cover. When reading the first few chapters that skepticism kind of stops some, like me, from even enjoying the book. With this one, and very few others in this particular category, even while that voice screams so loud it gets hoarse, the author continuously grabs a tighter pull on you, dragging you in until that voice finds the strength to scream "GIVE ME MORE!". This is very much one of those books.

Living in a tower for her own "protection" and that of others', Zelle is rather content with her life. Her birds as her friends, and a loving father who ensures she hurt no-one by draining her deadly magic to keep Zelle and everyone else safe, never had she had a doubt as to why things were the way they were. Never questioning his love or his motives, until two men happen across her tower, and stumble into it. Men who were not exactly as they seemed; one a werebear, the other a vampire hunter. The more time she spends with these men from the outside, the more she questions what she thinks is real. And the more she craves to see the outside world for herself, there is one man, Flint, that she begins to crave just as much. What's more is not only is he awakening seemingly foreign desires within her, her true memories begin to resurface as well. And realizes that naive little princess she is not, rather something far from it.

After having his sister turned into the very thing he hunted, Flint was ready to throw in the towel and give up on life, and everyone in it. Including, or rather especially, his very own family. His head and his heart are in utter turmoil with each other; the sister he once loved vs the creature she has now become. As with all things there is no such thing as black and white, there is also no such thing as truly evil or truly good, only various shades of gray and rather dubious shades of right. Something he is going to have to learn to come to terms with or he will not only lose his family, but the woman he is quickly coming to love as well.

Separately, they each have issues to work out; one being their very inner demons, the other their inner and outer demons. Something they will have to do quickly with the troubles they are about to face. Danger is fast approaching them from all sides, and what they see as their weaknesses are what truly makes them stronger than they know.

While this may be a slow moving story in the very beginning, once it get moving it's a nonstop train ride that readers will be more than happy they boarded. With a heroine that can truly hold her own. With surprises coming from every page turned, this is the best retelling of Rapunzel that I have ever read. While this book can be read as a stand alone, do not cheat yourself, as I did, by not reading the first two books in the Farielle series first.

I enjoyed so much the premise of this Book.

I have always see Rapunzelle as sweet and naive, but the twist Rebekah gave the character is impressive and fun, I didn't expected her hidden power to be what it was... I loved it by the way!

Flint Gwyn is a recurring character form the other books in the series. I was so glad that he found his "princess" in Rapunzelle after He spent months wandering Fairelle. The love story is strong, intense and passionate.

I love Dax the werebear, also other recurring character, one I can't wait to understand his hidden past.

One thing you can expect from this book is a well rounded hot steamy romance, lots of action, adventure and a wonderful new take on an old tale. you won't be disappointed.

Another book in the Fairelle series by Rebekah Ganiere! This time another of the slayer brothers will find he involved with a female meant to be his! Flint and Dax have been alone for a year since Snow turned into the vampire queen. He is still bitter about what occurred with losing Kellan and Snow. He had too much anger to stay put so he wandered. He and Dax came upon a tower in the woods. A beautiful young woman lived there who helped them. Danger is all around, from her father the mage, Rasmuss and the three men who keep coming back to hear her “sing”. Flint knows he must get her out before it is too late. She has no memories of her life prior to now. Rasmuss keeps draining her purple mist to “help her”.
Dax and Flint manage to get her out but at the cost of Flint’s sight. She finally remembers who she is and it is not good news. She struggles to keep it from Flint but knows she must do whatever it takes to save him. So, he discovers who she really is and is blindsided but still wants her. Her family comes for her and they end up fighting others who want to take her and Dax. In this book we have a hint of who Dax really is as well. Will Zelle save Flint and everyone else? Will they capture her and bound her powers again? What is the real relationship between Rasmuss and Zelle? Find out in this action packed installment of the Fairelle series! I received this book for free and am leaving a voluntary review. On to the next one!

A great new world of characters to fall in love with

Zelle is a beautiful girl trapped in a tower. Flint is still upset with his sister Snow. drinking ,gambling and whoring was all he had in his life now. While traveling with Dax they come across Zelle. She helps doctor Flint from the dragon burn. After spending time together the guys decided to break Zelle out of the tower where she is imprisoned. But their are things they don't knowing about Zelle things she doesn't know about herself. Flint fights with the mage who wants Zelle back and his blinded in battle. They make it to Snow's new home but Flint is still mad and anger at Tax for bring him there. They all learn what Zelle is. Zelle and Flint love can withstand their differences and his handicap. I loved their grit and determination to be back together and over come all the road blocks put in their way. I love how this chapter in this world ended

The description of this book is a little misleading. Zelle is a imprisoned in a tower by a man who she thinks is her father. He visits her every few days and drains off her power before she damages something. She doesn't question her situation much until Flint and Dax manage to get into the tower. Talking to them she realizes that she can't remember anything further back than about a year. Zell is drawn to Flint and he to her. Flint and Dax decide to rescue her, but her "father", a mage, shows up and blinds Flint. They still manage to get away.

Zelle becomes less compliant and naive as the book goes on. She regains her memories and realizes what she is and what she can do.

I liked this book despite the very rushed ending. I was near the end and so much was left hanging, I was beginning to wonder if this was just the first book of the story when suddenly it ended.

Rebekah R. Ganiere has created a world with many different paranormal creatures and several prophecies. I won't tell you what creature is in this story as I hate spoilers. It's the third story and it tells of Flint, a vampire hunter and Zelle and tells the story of the third prophecy. You won't want to miss this story or the two Fairelle stories before this one. This story is a very different tale than the one you read as child. This one is much more interesting. Underneath it all it's a strong love story. It started out slow as we got to know the characters and came to love them and then became more and more action packed. I can't wait to learn more about Dax in the stories to come. Grab this book and the rest of the series, you won't regret it for a moment! Rebekah, thank you for sharing your world with us!

Rapunzelle

All of these intense twists on fairy tales are incredibly creative and shamelessly alluring. This is my 5th book in the series (including 2 novellas) and I'm still left with my mouth hanging open at the brilliance of this storyline and the ever growing plot. We've gone through 3 of the 7 remaining hunters. Flints' story we equally unique and there were certain elements I never saw coming. I love that! This whole series has proven to be a delight!
Vivant wait to figure out who Dax is. Clearly he's a dragon or at least I hope so. Onto Cinders story next.
(There is one thing i should warn you about though. The editing or lack there of is nauseating. Luckily the story is so good you will over look it).

Flint has spent the best part of a year running and hiding from his pain. Along with his friend Dax, Flint stumbles into a tower and finds Zelle. These two are drawn to each other no matter how much he fights it. She sees past all his pain and sees the hero/warrior inside him.
Loved reading these two. She is spunky and so strong once she finds herself. He is facing down his demons and struggling to find himself. Hope we get to see more from her brother and the rest of Flint's siblings, and there are a couple of bad guys that still need to get what's coming to them for sure!! Heading off the read the next book now!!

Complex, Exciting and Romantic Story!!

Vampire slayer Flint is intrigued by a beauty in a Tower. When her “father” comes to visit on a dragon he is even more suspicious. Zelle is a danger to those around her; she stays in her tower waiting for her father to visit and drain excess power away from her. BUT – what if that is all fabricated?

Danger, intrigue and romance in equal parts. A hint at Dax’s background. And the struggle to remain couple as Zelle realizes who she really is.

Absolutely loved this story. We revisit characters from other stories within Fairelle, and get a promise of much more!

This is book four of the Fairelle series of fairytale retellings, and I'm LOVING them! A magical retelling of Rapunzel, this book has lots of crossover characters from previous stories, like rewards for fans of the series! I'm not going to spoil it by telling you what happens - I HATE spoilers and you can get a good preview in the blurb at the top of the page - but I will just say that if you like your stories with tension, drama, fairytale characters seen in a whole new way (including kicka$$ women who don't need a Prince to rescue them!), a bit of love and sprinkling of magic, this book (and series!) is definitely one for you! I loved it, and can't wait to read the next one!

An interesting retelling of Rapunzel. I was happy to learn more about Flint. As always it was great to see Dax and learn there is hope to find out about his past. The story was definitely unexpected, especially as you learn about who Zelle is. I truly enjoyed how the author displayed how Flint dealt with what life threw at him. He was very stubborn, but learned how to depend on others, The book had a good mix of humor, action, and romance. Wow, their happy ending, worth reading to get to. The story definitely sets up the next book, I am excited to see what happens.

This is a fresh retelling of Rapunzel. I loved the whole tragic journey that Flint has to go through to come out trusting his new love. I also love how family really pulls together in this series even if they don’t agree with someone. Family is always there in good times and bad but also supports you when it comes time to grow into your own person. I really love this fantasy series with just a touch of the old fairy tale feel. As always the author ensures there’s plenty of action going on to keep the readers interest.

I knew she was different I just didn't realize how different she was.

Zelle is a week young thing hidden away in the tower, visited only by her "father". Until old gloom and doom, Flint shows up. What a whirlwind of events... I personally think Paul and Creigan had it coming. I am hoping that for all Day has been through during this series he gets to have a happily ever after soon. Can't too much away. Rebekah makes reading a joy.

Excellent Story

These stories in this series just cannot help but drag you into the story and you dont want to put it down until it is over. You fall in love with the characters and you suffer with them thru their trials. You find yourself laughing and crying right along with them.

Love the authors take on these fairy tales and I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next. Dying to learn more about Dax.

Zelle is a beautiful girl, locked in a tower, all alone. Think this sounds like a normal fairy tale? Think again. Zelle's full name is Rapunzelle and she's locked away for a reason. She isn't a normal girl. No, she possess a purple mist which her father, Rasmuss, must drain on occasion on catastrophe strikes. On day two men, Flint and Dax, enter the tower just after her father leaves. You see, no one can enter or leave the tower. The doors are sealed by magic. As Flint and Dax are cared for by Zelle, Zelle begins to have feelings for Flint that are strange and new. But each time she tries to recall a memory from her past life, she is stricken with a terrible headache. Flint sees the gold arm cuff that Zelle wears and realizes something is terribly wrong. Flint and Dax leave the tower with the promise to return and set her free. The day arrives, and Flint uses magic dust to break the binding spell just as Zelle's father arrives. But something is wrong. He isn't the old man he was a week ago. As Zelle realizes something is terribly wrong, Rasmuss discovers Flint and Dax. As Flint tries to talk sense into Rasmuss, he is blinded by Rasmuss' magic. Rasmuss leaves the three behind. Zelle cuts the gold arm cuff off and notices her body is covered in silver tattoos. The cuff's main purpose was to hide who she really is. As Zelle, Flint, and Dax leave the tower with plans to return Flint to his family, they run into several of Rasmuss' henchmen along the way. As they struggle to help Flint and stay alive, they end up at Snow and Sage's castle, Flint's sister and brother-in-law, and Flint is none too happy. Flint still blames Sage for turning his sister into a vampire no matter what anyone says. As soon as Zelle reveals herself to Sage, he demands she leaves for he sees her true nature. But she is only half. Her other half is a Soul Weaver which is the reason for the silver tattoos. Zelle and Flint are now faced with dealing with Zelle's true nature and a love so strong it crosses worlds. Will this fairy tale have a happy ending?

When I started with the Prologue, the story read just like any other fairy tale. I was nearly tempted to put the book down and read something else. But I stayed with it and boy am I glad I did! The author did a fantastic job of taking the Rapunzelle and story and turning it on its ear. Zelle is anything but a damsel in distress. The story was well written and you can't help but cheer for Zelle and Flint to find their happily ever after. Even if you want to hit Flint with something every other chapter!

Flint Gwyn, vampire hunter, is on a journey, accompanied by Dax, to find a "cure" for his sister's vampirism. Yes, he's sure she can be cured. Flint is extremely stubborn, and it really doesn't seem to matter to him that Snow doesn't want to be cured. It's been a long journey with, of course, lots of rest stops at taverns to feed his need for drink....and other appetites. Hiding from a dragon that has injured Flint, they manage to sneak into a tower in the middle of nowhere, a mage tower. In the tower, they meet Zelle who cares for Flint's injuries and feeds them. They decide to rest up there for a few days, because the mage, Zelle's father, isn't expected back. Zelle has been locked in the tower for as long as she can remember, told by her father she is too dangerous to be free. Well, Zelle and The Tower, is a book full of surprises, and the Fairelle series keeps getting better and better. Flint is a totally conflicted individual, but there is no fighting the attraction between him and Zelle. Poor Zelle has been locked in the tower for....how long? Even she doesn't know...well, not until she finally remembers who and what she is, and who she is supposed to be with. With a whole lot of angst, Flint and Zelle despair of ever being together; it just doesn't seem possible; especially for Flint who never feels like he measures up. Zelle, on the other hand after initially accepting her fate, decides to fight tooth and nail for what she wants. And Dax, what is that strange attraction he holds for the dragons? Rebekah Ganiere has woven another well-written complicated story out of the Rapunzel fairy tale. With mages, daemons, dragons, and our favorite characters from the other Fairelle books, some charming new characters and some evil beings, what a great tale of danger, adventure and love, whetting our appetite for the next story out of Fairelle. I, for one, can't wait for the next exciting tale.

Rebekah R. Ganiere has created a world destroyed one thousand years ago. The mages of that time wrote down the nine prophesies. The first prophecy was the reuniting of the Sisterhood of Red with their fated mates the Weres. The second prophecy is of the vampires and Sageren, or Sage who is the exiled, rightful King of Tana Darah and all the vampires. Now Zelle, Flint and Dax will have to find their strengths to overcome their weaknesses to solve the third prophecy of the Banished.

The story of Zelle and the Tower is a very different fairy tale than that of Rapunzel you read as child. This one is soo much more interesting. This is a love story on many levels; a love story of a brother for his sister, a love story of the friendship between two men and the love story of a man and a woman. It is also a story of the evil greedy creatures that are determined to control Zelle, use her magic and rule all of Fairelle. Zelle has been held in the Tower by an evil mage named Rassmus who has stolen her magic for fifty years. What is it about this period of time that ties so many strings together? Flint and Zelle are drawn to each other from the very beginning. Dax consumes the old histories in the Tower library; he finds an old tome that will affect all in the land of Fairelle. All the lives of the people in the prophecies are intertwined. The actions of a few affect many.

The story will keep you reading late into the night. There are twists and turns to the plot that will keep you guessing what will happen next. Ms. Ganiere takes time to develop her characters making them real. The books are best read in the order written as you will meet people and learn history that enriches all the books that follow. Thank you, Rebekah for sharing the world of Fairelle and all your wonderful characters with all of us.

I received a copy of this book for free from the author in exchange for my unbiased review of it.

I have read all of the books in this series so far and I have to say that this one is probably my favorite by far. Flint is back and still running from his problems concerning what his sister Snow has become because he doesn't want to face or accept what her choice was. Dax is still with him helping to keep him safe as he roams the country going from place to place when they come across a tower with a beautiful woman inside.
Zelle lives in a tower with a man whom she believes is her father but from the offset something comes off as wrong. He's siphoning off her magic. He says it's for her benefit but is it really? With all the changes happening all over Fairelle nothing is ever what it really seems. Flint is injured by dragon spit and needs to get help. They manage to get into the tower to look for a way to treat Flint's wounds when they meet Zelle. There is a connection between Zelle and Flint and you can practically feel it.
This book is full of surprises that will just keep coming and having you craving more with each passing page. As with the others there are losses but there is always hope which I love. Dax even begins to get a hint at who he might truly be by associating and helping Zelle as the story goes on which makes me even more eager for the next story and the next so that I can find out more. This series is truly fascinating and engaging and draws you in from the first page all the way until the very end. The characters are so well written and so wonderfully created that you'll wish that they were real so that you could experience their world with them.
Zelle and the Tower is another great installment in the Fairelle series and I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who wants to engaged in this beautifully written and engaging fantasy series.

Another great story with new and old characters from Fairelle. We meet Zelle, a beautiful woman, protected by her father. She has lived all her life in a tower to keep the world safe from her powers. Entering into her protected world are two strangers causing unsettling feelings. She is strangely attracted to one of them, but he questions her reasons for being locked up all her life. She realizes that her father may have been lying to her. This is the story of what happens when they make her leave the only home she's ever known, of her awakening feelings for the man called Flint and her unsettling discovery that her whole life may be a lie. Read the story of their escape into a world she never knew, filled with beings she had only read about and the betrayal of the only person she knew and loved. This story is also Flints of his sorrow and learning to accept his life. He learns that no matter what he thinks his failures are, others still stand by him and love him. I've tried to give an over all view without giving spoilers, but know that the author has given us another story filled with adventure, danger, and awakening love. They be even dragons, vampires, and bears Oh My. I highly recommend this book to all who love things paranormal with a bit of fairytales thrown in. This book was given to me for an honest review and I'm happy to say I give it a two thumbs up or as they say in the rating world a big five stars.
