There is a fine line between right and wrong, good and evil. For years Jason Burke has straddled that line as best he can, always convinced that despite the violence carried out by him and his team they were firmly on the right side of that line. But as he reflects on his time with Omega Force, he begins to have his doubts.
When strange happenings from the mysterious Avarian Empire cross the expanse and Jason and Omega Force is pulled into the conflict, they must pick sides between two superpowers, all without knowing whom they can trust. At every turn, friends reveal themselves to be enemies, and enemies might be friends. All he knows for certain is that if they make it through the mission things will never be as they were. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Omega Force: Redemption" is the seventh installment of the bestselling "Omega Force Series." It continues the adventures of Jason Burke, a lone human in space who has linked up with five other aliens to try their luck as hired guns. Their mandate: to help those who don't have the means to help themselves and never accept a job that would compromise the honor code they live by.

I have to admit to being a Omega Force junkie, earnestly awaiting each new episode. Number 7 does not disappoint. Starting a whole new story arc and tying up loose ends from the previous series.
The action, humor and character interactions remain while old relationships are severed and new are forged.
I cannot recommend any series higher. Mr. Dalzelle, you are far and away my favorite indi author.
This book is in line with the series in that the storyline follows the predictable pattern the authors has used before. As I've said before, if you like this genre (very Star Trekian) then you will like this book and series. Good for casual reading.
You just don’t get a fantastic series that is already out to seven books very often. Every one of these books have been just great and this latest one is no exception! I was surprised by the start of this book. I think you will be to. Everything seemed to be going just fine when we last left the Omega Force. They had just solved the puzzle of why everyone was after them and it had more to do with the Phoenix than the Omega Force. Having solved that puzzle, they should have been back to their rather carefree good-guy hero role. That didn’t happen as you’ll find out. Jason will relate the whole story at near the beginning of this book so hang in there until you get to that part. It will explain a lot.
Still, this book represents a major shift in the story-line. Not so much with the Omega Force, but with some of the surrounding characters. The author explains what he’s doing a the end of the book and it’s a good thing. I really like the characters that form the Omega Force and that group is not apparently going to change. I’m not exactly sure how they will continue, although they might now have a very powerful backer who is indebted to the Omega Force as he said, in a way that can never be fully repaid. Jason has also met up with another guy who appears to be on the shady side, but that’s not a given. This guy has tons of money and has already bailed Jason out when he needed it the most without asking for anything in return. Captain Burke did pay the guy off, but only because he didn’t want to be asked to do some kind of distasteful “favor” for this new benefactor. I don’t know if their relationship will last, but he could be a new player in the series.
It is interesting that Captain Jason Burke is always the one to get the girl, so to speak. It seems like every time they are helping someone, there is a very beautiful human-type female involved and they take a very quick romantic interest in Jason. It’s not that Jason goes looking for this, he’s just that lucky, I guess. He crew don’t seem to really mind, although I’m not sure why they haven’t taken on clients that are from some of their other races. Again, being the Captain even with this crew has it’s advantages. And, it’s not like any of the other crew has come up with a female of their species that wants to fly around with them.
Ok, so I’ve tried to be quite mysterious about the story-line in this book. it’s not something you will expect, but it does have significant repercussions on the rest of the series. In one regards, it makes it where the series can continue with the Omega Force a little more independent. They might also find a “home base” in which to reside while not actively assisting some one. As it was, they either just flew aimlessly through space or crashed a short while on the Defiant, but didn’t have a really good rest and recuperate location. I think they will establish one now. It’s going to be up to the author as to how much they can actually use this new down-time location.
The next book in the series, “Omega Force: Human Factor” is already published and, of course, I have it. I can’t wait to read it, but I will have to read other books in-between this one so as not to finish the series before I really want to do so. That’s the bad part of a really good series, they always have to end at some point. Still, it sounds as though this author will continue writing Omega Force books as long as we buy and read them. Keep’em coming!
The ‘mid-season’ shake up feels forced and somewhat jarring after book six’s events; and the explanation, although plausible, still felt out of character. In the end it felt too much like Dalzelle had bored of some of the characters, and that led to some of their actions losing credibility.
Nonetheless, the story was engaging, albeit too quickly wrapped up, as is becoming the author’s defining style. I expect the author wanted to de-scale Omega Force and ratchet up their isolation; although laudable, the approach was perhaps clumsily achieved, and the book may have been better spent achieving that goal, rather than shoehorning it into an over long preface.
Halfway between an 8/10: Excellent read, well written, fell right into the fictional world created & a 9/10:Fantastic, left me wanting more.
"Okay everybody, commence with the dumb part. Bring the Phoenix to full power, fire up the engines and the weapons, and when this shit bomb explodes let's try not to get any splattered on us."
Really loving this now. I'm attached. To the world & the characters. I'll be reading through to the end of the series for sure. Is there an end in sight yet?
This was my least favorite Omega Force book. Granted, trying to follow up the stunningly awesome last book was a tall task, but I just thought it all started out odd. The team is all spread out and not together, in some cases, not even talking to each other - that just didn't feel genuine to me. Fortunately, it all works out in the end, but it just was odd to me. Almost like the author didn't quite know what to do for this book so just made it a story about bringing the team back together, with an artificiality of them being separated. It still was a quick read, and had some fun parts, but I'm hoping the team is back on track in the next book.
I'm not sure what to say about this one. It was a little darker than usual, and I really liked that. Jason the Thinker more than Jason the Adventurer. However, it is almost like book one in a series, since Dalzelle is changing course a little. I feel sort of back to scratch. What can I say? I look forward to follow Jason, so that has not changed, but I'm seldom 100% happy after reading book one, and that is the case here too – even if it is book seven. I guess I give this a four Plus.
Just finished 0F7 and it was GREAT. Can't wait for the Human Factor and I will be pre ordering it straight away. Great job Dalzelle I have totally enjoyed your work.
I have enjoyed all 7 books of the Omega Force series and look forward to what is yet to come. Joshua is a gifted writer and I hope he continues for a long time.
I really enjoy the Omega Force audiobooks. Pefect to listen to at work when doing menial tasks. Though I have to say book 7 "Redemption" is a clear step down. I get the intent by the author to shake things up in an attempt to keep the readers from getting bored of the same formula the books have. But when you just left book 6 where in Jason gets sole possession of a ginormous amount of PRICELESS information about an extinct ancient advanced civilization and spends his life as a low level courier after certain events split his crew up, things take a turn for the absurd.
When given the opportunity to start his own buisness with this priceless knowledge or just downright sell information and make obsene amounts of money either to keep doing what he has been doing going around helping people or by just living the high life, he instead takes a job as a "truck driver" at some random planet... I can watch past many plotholes but utter stupidity is not something I can get behind. There are other absurdities in this book but I'd be ranting for long if I had to list them all... In conclusion. A big disappointment!
While I'm enjoying the series and will continue forward, this book was let down. These aren't specific spoilers, but probably best not to read on if you haven't read yet. Dalzelle obviously didn't have enough content for an entire book, so he starts with our team split up for a couple years over absolutely silly reasons and spends the first half of the book getting them back together. The result is nobody really knows why they ended the team on bad terms and everything is cool now.
Then we essentially have a thread with another ongoing character that has betrayed everyone, but it's kinda cloudy and I personally don't think the animosity between the team and this character has been earned enough. With this particular character, the animosity is largely explained by each side choosing not to communicate and assume the other isn't trustworthy for...unspoken reasons? I think it's a bit lazy to use poor communication for character tension. If it isn't further explained the the next book that'll be very disappointing.
We find Jason in dire straits, with most of his family scattered while he is barely scraping by & deep in the throes of a dark depression. The story goes on to tell us how his situation came about but it feels too pat, just a way to show things hitting bottom merely so that the story can slowly put some of the pieces together for the redemption narrative that is the title. Along the way we find some different things that don’t really add up along with the broad hint that some outside influences are making different characters not necessarily just do things that could be out of character but that are seriously against their own interests. The book ends on a somewhat positive note, implying things that may or may not actually happen. NOT the same quality as the other books IMHO.

“Omega Force: Redemption (OF7),” is another in the harmless and lightweight series by Mr. Joshua Dalzelle. The characters are engaging, storylines somewhat formulaic and pedestrian, and the writing mainly competent. The seemingly unending series, an endemic issue of indie writers, is similar to a comfortable pair of hiking boots, a bit threadbare and worn out. Familiar and comfortable, something for a quick trip to the beach or the general store, but not substantive enough for a real journey.
“Omega Force...(OF7),” is recommended and was fully read via Kindle Unlimited.
Before you start this book, please realize it is the seventh title in the series: you will need to read the previous books in the series in order to understand the back story and the characters.
For me, this was one of the better books of the series. Without having a spoiler, if you enjoyed the previous books in the series you will probably like this and the action does pick up from the last installment. I picked this up for 99 cents during a Kindle promotion vs. the normal price of $3.99, and I believe I received more than $3.99 worth of entertainment value out of it: if you have enjoyed the other books of the series I am confident you will like this one, also.
After a rough start, the team is back and better than ever. I saw rough not in any sense of a failing from the author, but in an emotional sense. Omega Force has proven to be a strong team in the past building upon each others strengths to prove that the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. This is where the emotionally tough part comes to bear, when the group falls apart, they fall very far and we see just how lonely and weak they are without the team.
In the end everyone comes back together and this time there is a little mystery tied into the adventure.
Wow! there was a real surprise in this story! But you'll have to read the series to find out what it was. In this one Jason and the team had gone their own ways, for a lot a reasons. BUT they got back together to help a "first attendant" find her kidnapped "first daughter" and return them home. It was pretty interesting.
Romance between Jason and the "first daughter" but nothing descriptive, and the F-bomb was used 7 times.
As for the narration: Absolutely perfect! Paul Heitsch does such a great job with the different voices and emotion.
Wow this series is a continuous surprise because normally I feel bored about a five books in a series but the story and attraction to the series very strong.
I loved the book intro because it not same as other book and I really loved how everything came together and really surprised on story twists and character development.
Now I am going to pickup next one but at same time sad to go this fast read books because I will eventually run out of the series.
I use ratings to decide which books I am going to buy, and I recently decided I am partially responsible for inflating the ratings on books. Either they were 5 star or 1 star. I decided to use the star rating more objectively as follows:
★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will). ★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this. ★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad. ★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time? ★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.
Another great Omega Force book. This one is a bit of a shake up. Beginning several years after the last entry with events that have broken up the team. This installment managed to be a shake up of the status quo while still delivering on the Omega Force promise of team action. With the events of this books shaking up some major established characters and situations for the crew. It will be very interesting to see where things go from here.
Loved the change of story arc and plot twists. Bantor between crew members had me rolling with laughter. Appreciated the serious dialog between characters toward the end. Action scenes and pacing were spot on perfect. Giving this installment 5 stars.
These books just keep getting better and better. The whole crew work great together and work brilliant, you get completely immersed in the books and can't put them down Keep them coming JD
Up until now good and evil were clearly evident. In Redemption, Jason, his crew, and by extension we the reader, discovers life is not that simple. It is sad in a way to lose that simplicity. Bitter-sweet.
Enough twists and turns to the story to keep you guessing. Better watch out Jason, your starting to leave a string of women behind you. Book eight here I come.
The first few chapters we hard to read as you find our beloved team has parted ways and some members struggling but the booked quickly turns things around and becomes just as great as the rest of the story.
This was a totally unexpected shift from my perspective, but one that was welcome in the end. A very good addition to these episodic books, and it has me excited for the next one.
Quick ready, lackluster story-telling. Takes a real turn for the team. Seems a little Half Hearted, compared to earlier books. Nothing special here. You'll need to read it if you want to continue with the series, since there are big changes for the future.
Joshua Dalzelle threw me a curveball in book seven, but what remains a constant is that Jason Burk is entertaining and there is plenty of twists and surprises. Looks like the Omega Force is in for some major changes, I can’t wait to dive into the next installment.
This book starts off a bit slow, but soon picks up steam. I was surprised how it started off, but I’m so glad it finally got around to the book i hoped it would be.
If you have gotten through 6 other Omega Force books you know the deal. This feels fresh given the plot. As usual the ending seems rushed and sketchy and a bit of a let down. Still fun if you like the series and characters.
