Event Horizon ended up being nothing like I expected. The premise follows a young girl who commits a violent act against the government that has forsaken her family and the others banished to the outskirts. Rather than facing execution, she chooses to be sent into a black hole for research.
The tone and writing style took me quite a while to settle into, and because of that I initially struggled to connect with the story. But by part two — and especially part three — I couldn’t put it down. What began as distant and difficult slowly transformed into something deeply empathetic and emotionally gripping. Filled with tension, grief, and beautiful moments of found family, this was ultimately a surprising and rewarding read.
