If you loved the tension and world-building of the Alchemist Academy series Book 1: Feral Bonds, “Savage Bonds” delivers a satisfying conclusion that ties the bow on Alex’s journey while leaving just enough magic lingering in the air to keep us dreaming. This second installment does a good job at transforming the bonds between Alex, Tristan, Henry, and Nick into a truly unbreakable, cohesive unit.
✨ Why *Savage Bonds* Shines✨
The chemistry that was simmering in the first book truly boils over here. Watching Alex and her guys evolve from individual pieces into a united front is the heart of this story. The romance feels earned, intense, and deeply grounded in the mutual respect and passion they’ve built together. It’s exactly the kind of payoff readers crave—seeing these characters finally lean into their power as a collective force. While the story brings a definitive, heartwarming "Happily Ever After (HEA)" that leaves you feeling complete, it also masterfully crafts a world that feels like it’s still breathing.
✨ A Wish for More: The Case for an Alchemist Academy 2.5✨
As much as the ending provides the closure we need, the Alchemist Academy universe is so rich that a few lingering plot threads—specific situations mentioned but left without full resolution—naturally spark a desire for more.
An "Alchemist Academy 2.5" novella would be the perfect treat for fans. Imagine a holiday-themed story set five or ten years down the road! Getting a glimpse of:
🌟The Family Unit:** Seeing how Alex and her guys have navigated the years and what their life looks like with a family.
💫World Evolution:** How the academy and the world at large have shifted because of the events in the duet.
🌟Lingering Answers:** Finally getting those specific, "what happened to X?" solutions that would tie off every loose end in a delightful, celebratory bow.
✨Final Thoughts✨
Savage Bonds is a stellar wrap-up that respects the reader's time and emotional investment. It avoids the trap of feeling rushed, even when it leaves us wanting to spend just a little more time with these characters and gain answers to certain situations (I.e. what happens with Nick and his dad/pack?) Whether or not Serena Cross decides to revisit this world, she has gifted us a beautiful conclusion that hits all the right emotional notes. If you've been following Alex's story, this is a finish you won't want to miss.
This is my first time reading anything by Serena Cross and I really enjoyed it. I devoured book one and after completing the duet feel that is the better of the two. This one lags a little but overall I felt it was a strong duet with a really interesting plot.
