As always Candice has written another amazing story with amazing characters! This was soo cute and sweet deliciously spicy. Perfect for starting the holiday season and Even with this being a novella it will still nothing short of perfect! She writes the best men the dirty talk and the full dedication to their women I mean SWOON 🤤. And as usual I’m a sucker for a second chance romance and Aspen and slater were soo good and precious I picked this up and could not put it down! They were each others soulmates regardless of being separated for as long as they were they picked up almost like no time has passed! And I ABSOLUTELY cannot wait for what the rest of this series hold in store for us!!! Thank you Candice for yet again giving us another perfect story!!!

This book was so freaking cute! It was quick and fun read! It is a perfect holiday romance to kick off the season!
Aspen and Slater had one summer together when they were 18 years old. But eight years later, fate had other plans for them! They get snowed in, they just didn’t realize it was together.
These two were so perfect for other is so many ways. They know what they want but are also nervous to say it out loud. Poor Aspen has had a rough year and Slater just wants to make her life easier.
One thing I loved was there was no third act break up! I mean, he wasn’t going to let her anyways, ha. But it was perfect for this novella.
This book sets up the series so well and I can’t wait for it!

She set us up for a fantastic upcoming series. First, in the epilogue we get a glimpse at the first full length MMC - and we know him. I'm ecstatic for the choice she made on that. But enough about book 1. Let's talk about book .5. Frozen on Second is a second chance holiday romance where they're snowed in for days. And they sure do capitalize on their time together.
Slade and Aspen had a 2 month relationship when they were 18 and were taken with each other. These two wintery named singles had a blast in their holiday retreat. Their chance encounter was what they needed to get back on the path to their forever. Honestly, if you want a quick holiday romance - this will do it for you. The setting is a log cabin in the Maine wilderness, where they grew up in a kitschy Christmas town - but we didn't get much time there, since most of their story took place indoors with snow and tons of frosting. Let's just say, they have fun painting each other with frosting colored tongues.
Their HEA is won with these two. She is briefly insecure for a fraction of a second in the third act, but he immediately tells her there's no way he's letting her go this time. These two have fun in the kitchen, in bedroom, on the couch, under the mistletoe - you know, pretty much anywhere. His parents are going to need to have some really good cleaners come into the cabin before they have the next VRBO renters come through. Definitely, with the use of a blacklight. Slade has a dirty mouth and a much better ability for praise. I can't wait for the rest of the guys on the Vegas Vortex. We get a glimpse on a few of the players that will definitely get their own HEAs - as well as a pointed epilogue for our first leading man. I. Can't. Wait. Enjoy this, I did!

Frozen on Second is my first baseball romance and I absolutely loved every minute of it! I think the fact that Slater calls her Cupcake is adorable since she is a baker. Aspen and Slater get snowed in together and their sweet cuddles and movie nights are perfect for the holiday season and build a sense of sweet romance.
Slater is confident and I admire his ability to say exactly what is on his mind and not hold back when it comes to Aspen.
This was such a spicy and lovely holiday read that I could not put down. The spice and chemistry between Aspen and Slater is off the charts! Even after having spent eight years apart, these two pick up right back where they left off and its even spicier than before! I loved that they decorate a Christmas tree together with baseballs, I always enjoy seeing the cool ways people decorate for the holiday season. ⚾️

Snowed in with the one who got away?! SAY LESS! I ate this up and left no crumbs! When a blizzard prevents Aspen from getting back to her home, she decides to crash for the night at Slater’s family cabin and leave before anyone might show up the next morning. But when he finds her in his bed, their spark is clearly still there and they decide to enjoy the time alone while snowed in. This was hot, spicy, and addicting! I love second chance & love how they fall right back into place all these years later.

Well she did it again! C.L. made me fall in love with another athlete. This prequel was everything I didn't know I needed when I came to a baseball book. A summer fling between Aspen and Slater was more than either wanted to admit it was. Slater was going off to play in the MLB and Aspen knew her place was in their hometown helping at her grandma's bakery. 8 yrs apart before a blizzard traps them together in his families cabin. Slater ugh I don't know what to say about him. Slater has all the green flags you can think of with a dirty mouth. I love that they got their second chance with each other, and everything the two of them deserved.

Need a spicy winter novella to tide you over until it really gets cold? Frozen on Second is second chance serendipity at its finest. Aspen and Slater had one wonderful summer before they split up instead of trying to make long distance work when they were 18. Years later, when Aspen seeks refuge in Slater’s empty childhood home in a snowstorm, she has no idea that she might have company. Slater has come home for the holidays without his family (snowstorm/flight delays have rendered them unable to make it) and finds Aspen in his childhood bed, he’s determined to make up for lost time with the woman he’s always loved.
Sometimes a novella can feel rushed, but this one was anything but. The past relationship between the two MCs was set up so well that I dropped right into their relationship picking back up where it left off. The balance between their past and present was great; the history with the cupcakes/frosting and their chemistry that never went away was a really hot combo!
Need a short, spicy read for the coming winter? Even though a snowstorm precipitates the story, this one is hot for any time of year!

This is a quicker, holiday novella that is SOOOOOOO spicy, I can guarantee you’ll be panting. I am a SUCKER for a second chance romance and this hit all of the right spots for me. I enjoyed how quickly they fell back into each other (as someone who experienced a second chance romance themselves, I could relate LOL), even after so long apart. Slater is such a green flag and I loved how determined he was to care for Aspen, especially after hearing all she’s been through in their time apart.

OH ASPEN + SLATER, what a spicy good time y’all were! If there’s one thing I know it’s that a Candice novella is getting devoured in less than 24 hours and this was no different. There is something so special about a second chance romance for me, and especially when “it’s always been you” is mixed in there! Aspen + Slater’s love started really young, when they didn’t really know what life was going to look life after high school and the beginning of the MLB.. but all it took was one blizzard and a snowed in surprise, eight years later, for fate to take over and place them with each other again! I truly loved them! They were so spicy, so sexy, and oh so fun.. and can we talk about THE FOOD PLAY.. 👏🏼😮💨 This little novella got me so excited for what’s to come with the Vegas Vortex! 🩷

I love a romance where the chemistry is obvious, but the characters still have to figure out how to navigate their feelings and everything else going on in their lives. Give me the teasing, the banter, the emotional moments, and an MMC who slowly starts falling harder than he ever expected, and I'm sold. I'm always here for the combination of sweet moments and spice, and I especially love when the relationship has enough emotional depth to make you genuinely root for the couple. Sometimes you just need a fun, swoony sports romance to get you out of a reading slump, and that's exactly the kind of vibe I look for in a hockey romance! 🤍

CL Rose just does not miss whether it’s a novella or a full length novel that she writes. This was such a cute holiday novella with lots of spicy scenes! Slater was a filthy mouthed man but that made me love him more. Aspen broke my heart after loosing her bakery and not being in the Christmas spirit, I could totally relate to real life dampening the holiday spirit. Thank goodness she just happened to stumble upon Slater’s cabin during the snowstorm so he could bring the cheer and be the gift that keeps on giving. 🫣🫢 The chemistry between those two was off the charts. 🔥🥵🔥 I will never look at pink icing the same (IYKYK). This was a perfect prequel to the Vegas Vortex series and I can’t wait to get into Memphis story!

I normally don't vibe with novellas - just cannot connect with them in time before the story ends. However, CL Rose has a way of writing characters that has me instantly in love with them and I'll buy anything they tell me!

I absolutely loved the Snowed in cliche for a holiday romance book, that there's a huge blizzard and they're stuck in the cabin alone together. They're sizzling tension immediately jumps off the page, so it's not surprising that they jump each other very quickly into this novella.
This book is the perfect length and the perfect kickoff to the holiday season!

I came across C.L. Rose right here on Instagram and got hooked on her sports romances IMMEDIATELY. (If you haven’t read the Rock City Renegades series please do). This novella was absolutely the short and sweet holiday read we all need to get us out of the Spooky and Fall season. Aspen is sweet physically and mentally while Slater is hard and lovable right from the rip. These two have fireworks (and frosting) flying like it’s NYE! I absolutely ate this book UP and wish I got so much moreeeee out of these two! *finger crossed for an extended story👀*

Officially kicked off my Christmas TBR with this one and it did not disappoint!!
What could be better than getting snowed in with your first love, who is also a smokin hot baseball player??? Aspen & Slater were so spicy, and such a perfect “it’s always been you” couple, I loved seeing this snowstorm throw them back together so they could finally find their happily ever after!
I am also such a sucker for a title making it into the story, and it was done with absolute perfection in this one 🥹 truly knocked it out of the park!!

If you are in the mood for a short, spicy novella this is definitely for you! Despite being short and full of spice, I feel like we still got to know these characters pretty well, especially Aspen.
I’m glad there wasn’t too much drama involved because it is clear from the very beginning how much these two have loved each other despite their separation.
Anyone else want to try these cupcakes so bad!!
I can’t wait to read more from this series! This was a great way to dip our toes in this new world.

Candice why do you make me fall in love and make it so short and sweet! Such a quick and Fun read but also being a second chance there was so much history and chemistry already there. Snowed in together, tensions are high and goodness they were hot together!
I love that life pulled them apart, nothing too bad but they never stopped loving one another. Aspen had a rough year and struggling with direction, Slater just wants to take away her pain and make it all better.
