“You’re going to give me a name. You’re going to give me your words. You’re going to give me your fucking soul, baby…or I’m going to destroy every part of you until you do.”
Dear Diary, A fancy vacation after graduation sounded nice. It even felt nice until I was swallowed by lies I never knew existed. Then I ran off alone like an idiot. Captured. Trapped. Held with a price tag between my legs. So I did what any girl would do. I offered myself to the man I thought had saved me. I just didn't realize saving me meant stealing me and locking me away. Now I'm collared and chained and kept like a pet. He says he'll never let me go. And the worst part is that someday, I'm afraid I won't want him to.
Wicked Wisteria had me catching feelings for a man I knew I shouldn’t—and questioning myself the entire time.
This isn’t a happily ever after or a story where the bad guy becomes good. This is Stockholm syndrome, twisted attachment, and an MMC who is absolutely not a good man. Yet somehow, his efforts to do what he believes is best for the FMC had me feeling things for him anyway. That conflict is what made this read so compelling.
If you need redemption and an HEA, this isn’t your book. But if you can sit with the darkness inside a character and still feel drawn to him without excusing who he is, Wicked Wisteria delivers. Unsettling, emotionally complicated, and definitely a read I recommend to readers who like their fiction dark.

I received an ARC, and this review reflects my honest opinion.
This was my very first read by K.A. Wombolt, and let me tell you…I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! In her preface, K.A. warns readers that this is her darkest story yet. And to that I say…WELL DONE, QUEEN! NOW GIVE ME MORE!
Meet Winnie Reese, a sheltered girl from the wrong side of the tracks whose seemingly perfect rich boyfriend whisks her away on a beach vacation to celebrate graduation. Sounds dreamy, right? WRONG. Horrible truths are revealed, and one innocent walk to clear her head turns into an absolute nightmare.
Kidnapped and imprisoned in a cartel basement, Winnie has no idea what horrors await her. But there’s something peculiar about her captivity. She’s kept separate from the other girls, and nobody is allowed to touch her. Why? Because rumor has it the cartel boss wants her for himself.
When a guard decides to disregard those orders, a dark, dangerous stranger intervenes. Winnie’s savior? Oh, sweet girl…sometimes the monster who rescues you is far more terrifying than the one you’re running from.
Enter Leo. The cartel boss’s nephew. A man whose darkness knows no boundaries. When Winnie is transferred from the basement to his luxurious mansion, she quickly discovers that a prettier prison is still a prison. His demands, his control, and his twisted obsession push Winnie to the very edge of her sanity.
But here’s the million-dollar question…Is one hell truly better than another? And what happens when your greatest nightmare becomes your only salvation?
Leo & Winny 🙌🏻 I could not put this book down! Definitely one of my favorites from her. I love the fact that she stayed mute but had her ways to still communicate with the readers and her monster 😉
Dark, emotional, and full of heavy trigger warnings! The writing had me feeling for both the FMC and the dark MMC, even through all the messiness. A compelling read that pulled at my emotions! 🖤 Not your typical happy ending ending but I definitely enjoyed the story.
I’m absolutely OBSESSED with Wicked Wisteria. What on earth did K.A. Wombolt just do to me?! 😭🖤💜
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions DARK, twisted, possessive, uncomfortable, and completely unhinged. Yet, somehow, I couldn’t put it down.
Winny’s journey had me hooked from the very beginning. She starts feeling like she’s finally escaping and embarking on a new chapter of her life, only to be thrown into an absolute nightmare. And then there’s Leo.
LEO. 😭
This man is not morally gray. I don’t even think the color chart has a shade dark enough to describe him. He’s obsessive, controlling, terrifying, possessive, and utterly fascinated by Winny from the moment she catches his attention. The whole “I saved you, therefore you belong to me” dynamic was wild and intense.
And Winny?! I adored her resilience. Watching her rage, resist, attempt to escape, adapt, survive, and slowly become entangled in Leo made their relationship incredibly addictive to read. Their dynamic is messy and psychologically complex, and the book acknowledges it.
The diary entries were a brilliant addition, allowing us to delve deeper into Winny’s mind as she grappled with everything happening around her.
As I read, I went from: “WINNY RUN!” to “…okay, but why am I starting to understand them together?” to “Never mind. I’m utterly obsessed with these two.” 😭
The possessiveness, the captivity, the cartel danger, the jealousy, the obsession the way Leo gazes at her as if she’s the only thing in the entire world worth paying attention to?!
I devoured this book in one sitting.
This is definitely not for everyone. Please, PLEASE check the trigger warnings because this book delves into extremely dark subject matter and features several scenes involving coercion and non-consent.
But for readers who intentionally seek out dark captive romance?
Six freaking stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can’t wait to dive back into this world immediately.

Wicked Wisteria is a dark romance that drags you into the dirty, dangerous world of humans-for-sale controlled by the mafia. Victims are often forcefully removed from the streets while on vacation, and that's how Winny ends up in their grasp. She's 18, young, beautiful, and completely innocent. When a guard attacks her, she catches Leo's eye, and he gets caught in a web of his own design. Leo is meant to be the villain, but he tries to blame Winny's beauty for drawing him in. He treats her harshly, but it backfires when Winny discovers she has a darker side too. The novel shows the gritty underworld in vivid detail. Is it just a story, or could it be real? Stockholm Syndrome takes hold of Winny as she falls for her captor, little by little, until she's as caught up as he is. Leo wants out of the family business, but it isn't easy for him. Neither of them can break free from the family's control. Still, they manage to find their own version of a happy ending.
*** Please Read The Trigger Warnings! This story is extremely dark and does contain a lot of sensitive subject matter! ***
Wicked Wisteria was super dark, intense, and absolutely captivating. If you are down for an amazing captor/captive, Stockholm, cartel read with a strong FMC, and an unforgivable MMC then Wicked Wisteria is a must! Winny was on vacation with her boyfriend in Mexico. She ends up getting kidnapped by a trafficking ring. Winny has maintained her innocence so no one is allowed to touch her. Althought Winny's life is no longer her own she figures out there are still a few choices she can make. She decided who was allowed to touch her first. She also decided that from now on her voice was her own. She chose to maintain silence. I loved Winny. She is strong, resilient, and kept her fire throughout the book. No matter what Leo or anyone else put her through, she still endured. I really enjoyed the incluion of the journal entries so that we could still see her spark and where she was mentally. My thoughts on Leo are all over the place. He is not a good guy. He is the enforcer and next in line to take over the Basement. He can be and is rough, cruel, and brutal to her. But she is his Little Vixen. And I hate that I love him. Their relationship is messy, complicated, and definitely not traditional. But the chemistry, intensity, and battle of wills between the two made me love their story. I am absolutely loving the Made Men Series. I can't wait to read Diego's story.
Wow! This book was masterfully written! It hooked me from the get go and I’m sure I traversed through every emotion possible! It’s clear it’s part of a universe (that I have dubbed the Womboltiverse) that I need to explore but I wasn’t left confused by crossovers. It’s moved right up my TBR! There are lots of dark themes that are actually quite elegantly written and nothing is too overly graphic which I really enjoyed this time around! some thing’s are more implied and left to the imagination and others are explicit so do go in carefully if you’re easily triggered. Saying that, I know that the majority of my dark romance girlies will EAT THIS UP exactly the same way that I did! this is so well balanced - neither the plot or spice is compromised and you will not be able to put this down! DEVOURED!!!
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is the first book I've read by K.A. Wombolt and I am impressed. It covers a lot of dark themes, such as human trafficking, abuse and Stockholm syndrome; however, I didn't find it heavy. Overall, it was well-written, fast-paced and highly enjoyable.
If you like stories where the FMC develops a trauma bond with her captor, who is morally irredeemable, unapologetic, and possessive, with a touch of cruelty here and an act of kindness there, this is probably the book for you.
Definitely check the trigger warnings before beginning!
I appreciate receiving this ARC, and I will absolutely be reading more books by this author.
Dark romance indeed! I loved this book promise to the authors darkest book yet and it does deliver! Now that you’ve been warned be sure to look further to author notes for content awareness.
Loved this book! I am a dark reader to the bone, kept me on edge, made me feel for both characters and left me wishing I could read it again for the first time over and over.
Dark reader recommendation for this one… check it out
Winny (love her name) is the fmc and she is a bad ass all on her own. She takes no shit and tries to control the things she can. Of course she has shitty parents and a shitty Boyfriend. She gets taken and rescued or does she by the MMC Leo. He is obsessive in the best way. He is a tease and doesn’t go in till Winny is ready. There are dark themes and read TW but I loved the story and how different it was. He was yearning and when they finally get to it. It’s like fireworks with teeth and hands and no holding back!! Loving all these made men series and can’t wait for me
Wicked Wisteria was a dark, twisted ride! 🖤🔥 With kidnapping, claiming, and plenty of dark romance vibes, Leo and Winny’s story kept me hooked. What I loved most was how, even though he “took” her, they somehow found a way to save each other. Their connection was complicated, intense, and full of those messy emotions that make dark romance so addictive. Definitely a solid 4-star read for me! 🖤📚
When Winnys rich boyfriend takes her on a vacation its not what it seems, when she goes to clear her head she ends up taken by the cartel, but shes not kept with the others, shes not tpuched u til one man crossed the line and Leo the cartel boss's nephew comes for the save but is her savior really a knight in shinning armour or a man whose obssesion will have her caged! Well written engaging steamy dark themes, not a traditional HEA, watching your triggers.
This was dark, delicious and perfect. Leo takes Winny captive for himself. There was something about her that he wanted, needed. Winny fought with herself about her feelings regarding her captivity. You can see the shift when the Stockholm Syndrome sets in. Leo wants to own her and possess her but he also wants her to want to stay. After a perfect opportunity to escape Winny realizes that she does want to stay. Along the way they fell in love with each other and that’s an HEA in my book. The last chapter spiked my anxiety and now I’m worried about Diego. Feral Foxglove can’t come fast enough.
Leo and Winny …… he falls first and almost immediately. He sees her a victim of his family business and he “saves” her…. Whether she wants him or not she is stuck with him, and let’s be honest that is not always a bad thing!!! This is an excellent read but guys it’s definitely dark, probably the darkest by KA Wombolt … so seriously check your trigger warnings before you read contains several sensitive topics.
I loved this! It's Winny & Leo's story & it was a page-turner! This is unapologetically a DARK book & doesn't have a "traditional" HEA. Winny finds herself in trouble, but he takes notice of her, a lot happens here. I loved it, but keep in mind this is a dark book. Highly recommend this book & author!
This is a great dark romance. It is darker than the first books. Read your trigger warnings. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who liked dark romance.
First of all check them triggers. Cause this baby is dark and ohhh ohhh so good!!!! This book sinks its teeth in and doesn’t let go!!! I’ve never raged so hard at a male character as I did with Leo…like I wanna throttle him yet kiss him at the same time. Walking red flag but I’m color blind
!!!!! Please check triggers ! !!! This baby is dark and trigger HEAVY , but it’s also such a page turner ! It has your heart breaking for winny , and HATING LEO, but then also LOVING LEO ?! I mean what good mafia romance doesn’t have a little captor, captive kissy kissy smoochie smoochie ! Can’t wait to see how book four wraps up the series, cause that ending !? What you just know something shady is gonna happen !
Dark, dangerous, and apparently determined to steal my sleep! 😂🔥
This story pulled me in IMMEDIATELY, and once I started reading, putting it down was easier said than done. The enemies-to-lovers tension, cartel atmosphere, and dark, twisted dynamics kept me hooked way past the hour I should’ve been asleep. Because apparently, sleep is optional when the book is good. 🫠📚
My biggest critique? I would’ve loved a little more of an obstacle for the characters to overcome. I wanted that extra layer of conflict to really make the journey feel more challenging and the payoff even more satisfying. That said, I still found this to be a highly enjoyable read, and it absolutely kept my attention from beginning to end!
If you love your romance dark, your men dangerous, and your dynamics complicated, this one might be worth adding to your TBR. 🖤
