Do you take me seriously? Because I don’t. I use my jokes and easygoing personality to hide the pain I’ve felt since he took his last breath. I’m adrift without my partner in crime, my best friend…my brother. I can taste the vengeance just within my grasp.

Until she barges into my life. Promising me happiness and a peace I’ve been craving for years. She is the sun to my darkness, the happy to my despair.

But she holds secrets. Just like I do. She holds hers close, where I just pray mine don’t rock the walls we’re trying to build.

Now I’m stuck at a crossroads between my desire for revenge and my craving for her and the life we could have together—and I have no idea which road I should travel.

All I know with crystal clear certainty is that the past has the power to destroy it all.

No cliffhanger. This book is not suitable for younger readers. There is strong language, adult situations, and some violence.

FOUR BE MINE STARS.

"For the first time in my life, I want a woman who wants nothing to do with me. I crave her."

description

A Harper Sloan novel is the reading equivalent of eating a family size New York style cheesecake all by yourself. This series has guilty pleasure written all over it and I just can't seem to get enough. If you are new to the world of Harper Sloan then all I can say is that you need to go and find yourself some quality reading time and prepare yourself to meet the gorgeous Corps Security boys. Deliciously erotic and beautifully heartwarming 'Cooper' is a novel that packed the heat and heartbreak in equal quantities and once again Harper Sloan has won me over with her most tempting of heroes. You won't be able to read many reviews of this particular book without it giving away spoilers of the first three books in the series, so be warned, but if like me you are already a huge fan then you would have already have fallen hook line and sinker for this series of epic alpha goodness.

What's it all about?
The fourth book in the Corps Security series by Harper Sloan brings us the story of Asher Cooper and Chelcie Avery. She is his sunshine, his reason to live, his belief that there is good in the world and in turn he is her hope in a life of confusion and heartbreak, her anchor in an unexpected future. As this couple work through the obstacles that come up against them, they have to fight against secrets, revenge and a heartbreaking past that may just pull them apart.

What did I love?
There was a great feeling to this book of the unexpected. Book three in the series left off with some uncertainly and tragedy and I was excited to see what Harper Sloan would do with the unfolding storyline and unanswered questions and I can gladly report that for the most part the way she led the plot impressed me. The story of the two brothers really drew me in and pulled at my heart strings and I can admit to a tear or two throughout. Harper Sloan was clever in her delivery of providing her readers with a well rounded plot that had a bit of everything including: humour, suspense, romance and her legendary steam. Any story that can make me feel the emotions of the characters is always one worth remembering and in this story there is most certainly that feeling of heartbreak and healing throughout. I love a damaged hero and as always Harper Sloan created the most addictive hero, Ash Cooper was the perfect tortured hero and I loved his possessive side almost as much as his sweet and sexy side, he was perfectly damaged and I loved his intense alpha persona. Overall Chelcie was a likeable heroine with a personality that didn't allow for her to adapt any annoying personality traits, she loved fiercely and I really connected with the love that grew between this loveable couple. As always Harper Sloan put the spotlight right on the fabulously naughty bump and grind action, which always adds a few brownie points for my reading experience. I also got a sneaky peak into the lives of the other characters that I have already grown to know and love. Across the board this book delivered all that I expected from a Harper Sloan novel and if there is one thing that I can guarantee is that this author will win me over with her edible heroes. Long live this series I will find it almost impossible to say goodbye.

Why not five?
I'll never be able to resist this series in fact I'm always on the look out for a new Harper Sloan release date. 'Cooper' is a novel that I've been looking forward to reading for some time and this authors books are amongst my most anticipated releases of the year. I think it's fairly obvious that I'm a fan of this author and I can't help but adore the corps security boys, however as much as I enjoyed this novel it wasn't my favourite, the first 50% of this novel stood out to me as exciting, heart breaking and it had the foundations for a fabulous five star. Unfortunately the book didn't hold up the excitement level and some of the attempted suspense scenes and drama didn't quite work for my reading tastes. Overall I had a good time with the characters, story line, romance and steamy-filthy boy/girl action but it didn't top the charts as a Corps series favourite.

description

Final thoughts ...
Nothing makes me smile more than a book filled with demanding alphas with sexy couples who love getting down and dirty. Harper Sloan is the queen of a far fetched, raunchy escape and I'm almost crazy desperate to get my hands all over book five in the series. I can't imagine any fan of this series that hasn't already fallen in love with Maddox Locke and I'll be counting down the days until he is on my kindle. If you love a series that encompasses all of the above and you can't resist story telling from an author who loves sex, alphas and drama then you won't go far wrong with starting this series as for me I'm sticking to my addition to this author and I'm eagerly awaiting more. Go find your favourite corps security man, but remember Greg Cage is mine. Enjoy ... Kisses.

5 Sunshine Stars!!!

 photo 6965c224-4314-4efe-8419-6ddfac60b947_zpseb826e92.jpg

Cooper. I had no idea what to expect when it came to Cooper’s story. After reading Beck, I knew Cooper would be in a hard place and have a difficult journey ahead of him. I didn’t really expect it to go the way it went, but I loved the direction it took. I continue to be impressed with Harper’s writing and storytelling abilities. I love when a book can draw me in and make me want to do nothing else until I finish. Every book in this series has been that way, and I love it!

*Note to readers: Cooper’s review will be spoiler free, but if you haven’t read the first 3 books in the Corp’s series, there will be some storyline spoilers for them. A lot happens in the last book… so I would recommend skipping this review if you aren’t caught up on books 1-3!
All it took was one night. And then… And then he was taken from everyone.

 photo 234eea4c-7fb9-4318-8769-a295ec6d5a18_zpse11507b3.jpg

Asher Cooper is lost. He is a tortured and broken man, healing himself with whiskey and women. Losing someone close to you is hard. Losing your brother, your only family and someone you’ve always sworn to protect is unbearable. His childhood was horrific. After reading 3 books with Zeke Cooper in them, I would have never guessed he went through all that. He was such a carefree and lovable guy. It made me want to give big hugs to the both of them… I have a lot of trouble reading that sort of thing, it breaks my heart.

Ash feels like he has no one. Nothing important to do in life except avenge the person who is responsible for his brother being gone. No one can pull him out of this funk he’s in. As hard as they try, Maddox especially, he seems like a lost cause. Until her. Chelcie. Chelcie was there for Asher right after Coop died. They have this bond, this special connection. If anyone can bring Ash back, it’s her. Being around her makes things a little bit better. She’s the only one who can light up the darkness.

 photo b83065e6-5bc9-4541-80df-ffbbfcc5b6d5_zps83380ddf.jpg

Chelcie and Asher’s friendship has always been a little more. It’s obvious that they both are attracted to each other, but that worries Chelcie.
The attraction between Asher and me has always been too much. Burning too bright. And as much as I love that about us, I also fear it.

She feels she needs to fight what’s between them. Not only does Ash not do relationships, he’s in a bad way and needs time to heal. She also has more on her shoulder's than she's letting anyone know. A secret she's been keeping form Ash. Him knowing could change everything- for the better or for the worse. She's not sure. She’s the only person who can heal this broken man.

Ash wants her. He will be whatever she needs, he just needs to have her.
“There’s plenty of time for us to learn every little thing about each other, but what I already know is enough for me to know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you belong to me.”

 photo 4b899436-5fd3-489b-a4cb-19b2e9d61dbc_zps2046736e.jpg
“Sunshine, once I take you- make you mine- I won’t ever let you go. You’re mine, baby. This body, this heart, and damn sure this pussy. I won’t take you until I know you understand what I’m saying to you.”

The first 40% or so of this book had a lot of build up. It was emotional. Dealing with Coop’s death, Chelcie’s secret, these two fighting their feelings for one another. But after that first 40%… Hot as fuck. Even though the steam starts out low, it quickly builds up to an inferno.

Ash is just one of those guys. The perfect combination of alpha. Sweet, protective, possessive and caring. He really had a loving and naturing side. I wasn’t sure what kind of guy he was, but he was one of the best kind. A broken man with demons who was able to overcome his past and be there for someone when they needed it. Asher is a man you can count on.

Chelcie is possibly my favorite Corp’s heroine to date. Not once did she frustrate or annoy me. She was exactly what Asher needed. She was there for him, loving and supporting when he needed it, but also could put him in his place when need be. I admired her strength and the way she handled herself. As much as I loved both characters individually, I loved them even more together. They were a great match.
“We all have that person… Every. Single. One. Of. Us. We have that person who makes us complete. He is my person.”

 photo a0275a8a-3825-421a-8f28-ddd6049db051_zps6538a9a4.jpg

It’s always wonderful to catch up with ALL the Corp’s security gang. What I love most about Harper’s guys is even though they are all big, strong alpha men, they aren’t carbon copies of one another. They all have their own personalities. Things that make them different from each other. They are all protective and loyal, but no ones as possessive as Axel, or has as big of a heart as Beck. Oh Beck. He’s still my #1 guy.

Maddox though, he’s a guy I’ve been intrigued by since reading Axel. After that book, we all wanted more and Harper has made us wait, saving the best for last. The more we get about him in each book, the more I want to know. He had a bigger presence in this book than any of the other guys (apart from Asher). What he said to Chelice really spoke to me.
“You make sure and keep that damn light shinning bright on him. You give a broken man like me hope that there might be something to be said about trusting that blaze that fights a man’s demons.”

I loved the little secret we got about Maddox here and it just makes me want to know more about him. And even Emmy had her own little kick ass moment! I can’t wait to read more about both of them. His book (due this winter) is one of my most anticipated reads this year!

The Corp’s Security series has quickly become one of my favorites. With the strong alpha males, the feisty heroines and unique story lines, I can’t get enough. In the past year we’ve been given four novels and one novella, and still I want more. I am greedy when it comes to these boys. Cooper’s story was full of healing, love and moving on. It was emotional, beautiful, steamy, a little suspenseful and had some humor thrown in. It’s an incredible story that will make you feel. And that ending... I love how everything came 'full circle.' If you haven’t read this series, get to it! These are must read books!

*Just a heads up: BEFORE anyone reads Cooper, you HAVE TO read Beck to understand what's going on. It's pretty impertinent that you do this.*

4 stars!☆☆☆☆

"Call it whatever you need to, Chelcie, but just know you are mine."

description

My initial thoughts: I’ll be the first to admit, until I read Beck I had no interest in Cooper at all; my main and foremost interest had always been Maddox. *ducks head*

description

(♥)So what made me change my mind?: (♥) Well, how can you NOT after we were are steamrolled with that tragic heart stopper that occurs in Beck? Come on now!

description

So now COOPER...

Harper Sloan does a great job in yanking readers’ heartstrings as we witness the characters battling with guilt, loss, forgiveness, and even revenge.

description

"This quest to right a wrong, the vengeance that you're seeking? He wouldn't want that. You have to start living your life for the future that you're alive for, not the past your willing to die for."

I won’t say that this novel rocked my world, because I'd be completely dishonest. Cooper was more of a nice, steamy read compiled with an anguished, sentimental tone due to what happened in Beck. It had everything from:
1) dealing with life's unexpected curve balls
1) falling in love
2) healing and coping with
And learning how to let go and embrace your future.

description

(-)So what made me minus a star?☆: (-) I do have a minor complaint, and please note that I am in no way trying to demean Harper's hard work, but... what the heck was up with adding

description

Was it to create shock? Or cause for dramatic pause? It was so random and brief that I found it dumbfounding and blatantly unnecessary to the plot line. Or is it just me? *looks around nervously*

description

(→) Looking forward... (→)

I am still very much DYING for Maddox’s book!! He's been my bias from the very beginning!! *wink wink* In Cooper, we do get some juicy tidbits on him (and even Emmy)*does a happy dance* so I’m sure it’s safe to say that it’s going to be good! GAH!!! I can't wait!!

I think it was more of a 3.5 star read. It was good, just not amazing. It just seemed like it should have been more emotional then it was. The feelings just weren't there. I did enjoy it, I was just expecting something more I guess? Idk, but I'm still looking forward to Maddox's book.

I can't help but wish this one was titled 'Ash' instead. Calling it Cooper makes me sad :(

Holy fucking eye roll, Batman.

Let me first say that I am in the total minority on this one, so it must definitely be an it's not you, it's me situation.

HOWEVER. This book was sooooooo fucking sticky sweet that I just can't even with this thing.

Example: "By the time he pushes in deep, emptying himself out into my body, I've come three times and I would swear that I saw angels."

Angels?

Really?

description

And three times? You came three times? That fast?

description

I've been known to get fucking freaky, but yeah RIGHT.

description

description

And all the grieving and gushing in this book, which I know were supposed to have me feeling it and all...

description

description

Just left me feeling jaded.

description

And uninterested.

description

And [insert a third synonym for plain fucking bored].

Oh and nauseous.

description

Don't forget nauseous.

But have no fear, its just cold-hearted me. Everyone else I know loved it!

***2.5 Over the Top Stars***

I'm going to start this review by saying that I like this series. I've enjoyed all three previous books, to some degree or another. And If I'm being completely honest here, they're all foreplay before the main event....Maddox Locke's book.

But this book....this book just takes the Over the Top Alpha cake. It felt like your typical Alpha book formula on heavy duty, industrial strength steroids.

I'm all for a strong man. A man who loves and protects his woman. But this guy, he had me questioning his sanity...

"I'm fighting every instinct in my system to turn the car around and kill. I'm at war with myself and I am too out of control to correct it. I need to claim, to mark, and to prove that she is mine."

So the woman you like went on a date....

Maybe you should tell her how you feel. Oh wait, now that you've seen her on this date, that's what you proceed to do. Quite eloquently if I might add.

"I felt a depth of wrath I didn't know existed. A red-hazed fury chanting at me to kill. I wanted to rip his arms off his body and beat him with the hands that dared to touch. WHAT. IS. MINE."

And once Asher finally gets what he wants....man does he love it. He loves everything about it. And it fills his heart, rocks his world, chases his demons away, and lets not forget swells his cock. HE HAS CLAIMED!

"Baby, seeing my come falling out of your tight cunt is probably one of the hottest things I've seen. I'm inside you, and my come is marking your body as mine. There isn't anything more arousing."

Now, let's turn our attention to the woman on the receiving end of all this adoration....Chelcie. Hold on....I'm coming....I just need to row through the river of tears that Chelcie cried throughout this whole book.

Alright I've docked my boat.

I understand that Chelcie was pregnant, and I've never been pregnant myself, but I have PLENTY of friends that have been and I don't recall any one of them crying this much!

And those hormones were going wild....especially in the sack. The woman was wanton and thank God she had Asher, because naturally he delivered every time, numerous times and every orgasm was stronger than the last.

"I always used to read the books where the hero would come, and come, and come...and then come again. I'd roll my eyes, thinking that surely there was no way a man like that - with stamina of a god - exists. Tonight, Asher proved me wrong. Those men definitely exist. And he's all mine."

Well color me stupid! Here I thought I was reading a contemporary romance, when in actuality it was a memoir. Unfortunately, unlike Chelcie, I'll never be able to reach that sixth orgasm in a night by simply having my strong, Alpha man bitch slap my pussy.

So in literary terms, since I couldn't connect in any way, shape or form to either of these characters, I just wasn't invested in their relationship. Frankly, I just didn't care.

And when the batshit crazy, out of left field, obligatory action and suspense came towards the end....well...

On a positive note, I will say there was some serious pulling of the heartstrings when it came to the Cooper family flashbacks. It gave me a full understanding on why both Cooper boys were so reluctant when it came to women and relationships.

So enough about these two....this book gave us an additional taste of Maddox....and I'm even more excited for his book! I can't wait to jump in his closet and find out all his dark secrets. And to find out what's going on with him and Emmy. Are my expectations high? Hell yes.....so please, please don't fuck it up! No pressure. But seriously...

Thanks to my friend Kat Wants To Be A Glitter Pirate and the awesome power of her mind, this review is going to mainly be in GIF form!

And if you have an issue with that....

So, I loved book 1, hated book 2 and 3 (the misogyny oh the misogyny), so when it came to this book..

Let me explain something about the world of Harper Sloan. In this world, you have the Harper Sloan Heroine, who is all that is perfection.

Any other woman who has ever lived, is living and will ever live EVER, is henceforth to be known only by the term:

So, we have the HS Heroine:

annnnnnndddd every other female.

Oh, for any men reading this, do not think I have forgotten you! Could you pass it as a HS Hero!? Really? You think? Do you have an extra long dick with more than average girth? Can you move your hips with the best of them. Have you a shocking lack of respect for any woman you sleep with and who acts JUST LIKE YOU when it comes to sex? Well? WELL?

Well, does any of that remind you of yourself! OF COURSE NOT! You get to be lumped in with the **shudders** rest of the men in existence, which means you are either a player who does a whore in a bathroom while on a date with a HS heroine, or you are dirty and filthy (and not in a good way, oh no, in a way that spreads ANTS) or you are a weirdo with a toe fetish! Or an abuser. Or a rapist. Just in general a master at WankBadgery. Glad I could clear that up for you.

Oh and I could have done without that used tampon on the face image, thanks very much!

Now, let me give you the basic plot of the last 3 books in the series. (The characters are pretty much interchangeable in all honesty) You will be told that there is some soul deep sort of connection between our hero and heroine. As most of this happens off page, and we just get told about it, it will not ring true. The hero will at some point sleep with a whore, does not matter which one, but she will deserve to be treat like crap. The HS Heroine, will at some point decide to lay down the truth to one of these whores, and give some sort of speech, where she gets to verbally bitch slap the whore, and then can feel pleased with herself for bringing down a lesser being.

At some point, something completely ridiculous and far fetched will happen to bring the...

Despite being the most inept Security guys ever (seriously, they have let any number of ppl be killed and or kidnapped by this point) the Corps (Corpse as they shall henceforth be known due to said ineptness) Security guys will save the day and then sit around congratulating themselves over how awesome, in love and better than everyone else they are.

Despite all this, I am sort of intrigued by Maddox and probably will get his book, I am sure I will be disappointed. I have a complete lack of trust that his book can be pulled off at all!

And this book had some sweet moments, especially in the middle, it had some truly beautiful moments, which I did like, and it was marginally better than book 2 and 3 (which were DNF's)

But, I am done! Thank you for staying with us on this rant! Please make sure to take all your belongings with you as you leave the review!

3.5 Déjà vu Stars

*spoilers especially if you have not read the first 3 books in this series!

 photo done-that-fucked-it-up-quote-text-typography-favim-com-235228_large_zpsjwc60rvw.gif

Oh boy where to begin..... I have loved this series from the start. How could I not with all these Yummy, broken, alpha men finding their soul mates and becoming perfect swoon-worthy, romantic, protective, sexy, dirty talking beast. But this book just didn't have that wow factor for me. It was a good read, but not near as good as Axel's book.

Asher is Zeke Cooper's brother. In Becks book Zeke was killed. Now Asher is spiraling out of control, drinking and screwing his way to numbness, when he isn't plotting revenge. The only light in his life comes from the woman he met during his darkest hour Chelcie , only problem is she keeps him at arms length even though he knows she feels the same strong connection that he does. Chelcie is very attracted to Asher, She knows there is something more between them, but she doesn't want to be just another notch on his bedpost, and she is scared that when he finds out what she's been hiding that he will hate her or think bad of her. When the truth comes out will she get her man or will it blow up in her face?

 photo BeFunky_blondes-women-candice-swanepoel-models-earrings-necklaces-blonde-683891125_zps2fr2z89c.jpg

Asher and Chelcie were very cute together, in a cheesy, super sweet, almost too perfect kind of way. It was like a switch is flipped in the book and wham perfect instant-family. There are a few things in this book that just didn't work for me and that made this book a 3.5 instead of a 5 and those reasons are....
For one Asher really didn't seem to have his own personality, he was like a mix of all the previous heroes giving me one hell of a sense of Déjà vu and making him generic. The Author even summed it up in the book with this line: “He has Axel’s protectiveness without being over the top. If what Melissa tells us is correct, he shares Greg’s bedroom skills. He has that huge heart of gold that Beck is famous for. And of course, he shares Maddox’s strength and determination.”. Another thing that didn't work for me was Super over the top cheesiness to their relationship! There was some really cheesy lines that where making me roll my eyes.
"I always used to read the books where the hero would come, and come, and come...and then come again. I'd roll my eyes, thinking that surely there was no way a man like that - with stamina of a god - exists. Tonight, Asher proved me wrong. Those men definitely exist. And he's all mine."

"By the time he pushes in deep, emptying himself out into my body, I've come three times and I would swear that I saw angels."

 photo 860152_zpsz6cnbb9n.gif

Don't get me wrong there was some really good parts to their relationship. Some that was Sweet, and smoken hott!

 photo sun1_zpsucqvrbfu.jpg

“We all have that person, Dee. Beck is yours. Axel is Izzy’s. Melissa’s is Greg. Hell, Emmy’s is Maddox. Every. Single. One. Of. Us. We have that person who makes us complete. He is my person.”

“Sunshine,” I murmur, “once I take you – make you mine – I won’t ever let you go. You’re mine, baby. This body, this heart, and damn sure this pussy. I won’t take you until I know you understand what I’m saying to you.”

“I’ve been stuck in this fog, this darkness that’s held me captive…This black hole of grief that I couldn’t escape. But then you came into my life…you were my light when there was none to be found.”

There was some really heartwarming parts to the book with the baby , but I have always been a sucker for babies!

 photo ash and zac_zpstcwxjqtx.jpg

Something else that didn't work for me was the drama at the end

That being said Cooper was still a good read and a enjoyable book. It had a good plot, with a sweet romance, some drama and some funny dating humor.

 photo download 3_zpsc2fxiddv.jpg

I still love the hell of this series, and I would totally recommend it. I am on to Locke's book....

Got my ARC!!! Can't wait to start this one!!!

If you’ve read the previous book (and you have to read it in order to understand this one!) you know what happened to Zeke in end of it.
Now, Asher Cooper, his brother is heartbroken, losing himself in alcohol and with only one goal in mind: finding revenge.
He can’t move on and nothing and no one can make him leave that road.

description

Until Chelcie. She is the only person who can bring something out of him and he knows he shouldn’t want her like he does, but he can’t help it.
Chelcie wants him too but she knows she can’t have him because she harbors a secret that can change everything.
And when Asher find out about what Chelcie is been hiding, will he finally get the strength to move on… or will he fall even more?

Storyline: A romantic and sexy reading like Harper Sloan usually does. But there was *something* missing in this one. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but although it was a great reading, it felt like it was just another alpha-male book. It kind of lacked originality in the development of the story.
Writing Style: First person, dual POV. Sexy and addictive.
Character Development: Chelcie was a sweet girl and although she annoyed me at some moments, I liked her. Asher was good, but you know that Harper always delivers some sexy and great alpha-males!
Steam: HOT!

Asher as just been added to my bunch of hot men

I was really looking forward to reading this book. I wanted to know more about Asher. After everything that had happened with Cooper I wanted more of this hot broody man. Chelcie is another character that had me dyin to know more. Meeting her in Becks book and her being Dee friend I needed to know how she was going to deal with everything that was going on in her life. Asher being there was going to make things hard for her but she needed Asher in some ways and he needed her just as much.

I really luvd this book. The way Asher and Chelcie were together were so good. They are so meant to be together. They so needed to help each other and they were the only two that could help each other out of the dark.

This series as turned into on of my favourites. I just luv everything about it. The stories are great characters are brilliant and I m loving the writing a lot can't wait to start Locke book xxx

Harper Sloan can write some good alpha males! As a reader I feel safe when I read a book from Harper Sloan. I know I will read a great book with interesting characters and ofcourse tons of steam! Looking forward to Maddox's book, but will hate when the series is over!

4 You Are My Sunshine stars :)

 photo coopercollage_zps5208cbac.jpg

I was so excited to get my hands on Cooper. I’m not going to lie though; I was a bit anxious too. After reading Beck, we were left with a lot of sadness and I knew this wasn’t going to be an easy one. But Harper Sloan delivered once again. Even though there were a few things that were predictable and a few things that I wish played out a little differently, I was still sucked in right from the get go and I devoured this book in one day. So that says something about her ability to write amazing stories.

I think it is worth mentioning that if you haven’t read any of the other books in this series this review may not be considered spoiler free. It is hard to review this book without making slight references to Beck’s story. So you can decide to read on or not. :)

Here are my thoughts on Asher Cooper, Chelcie Avery, their present and their future….

Asher Cooper is a broken man. His life wasn’t perfect but it was good. That is until he loses the one person that gave him a reason to live, a reason to get up every day. When “Zeke” Cooper was ripped from his life Asher fell into a dark hole.

 photo asher1_zps56f1b7fe.jpg
“I would never be able to give you up without a fight, Asher. I told you a long time ago that I’m with you every step of the way…”

Chelcie was walking a fine line with a few things in her life. She had an attraction to Asher that she didn’t know what do with. Giving in to this attraction could end up costing her more than she is willing to risk. Ash isn’t one to do relationships and Chelcie needed someone that was going to be a constant in her life. Things have changed for Chelcie in a way she hadn’t expected but in a way that has brought her happiness.

 photo Chelcie1_zps7c3385fb.jpg
“I told you before that you’re my light, my Sunshine, and baby, if it hadn’t been for you shinning that light on me today, I wouldn’t have escaped the pain.

Their present and their future…

Asher is lost in all his pain and anger. He has fallen in to a dark hole and just doesn’t know how to heal from the pain he is feeling from the lost of his brother Cooper.

Some light was shed on the relationship between Asher and Cooper and it completely broke my heart. I would have never guessed they shared such a painful childhood. Asher was Cooper’s protector and Cooper was Asher’s life.

Asher is set to avenge the person who took his brother from him. It really is all he can think about and all that matters to him. But, after meeting Chelcie something within him changes. She offers him some peace, some hope. What Chelcie gives him is a bit of light. She becomes his Sunshine and a way out of the dark hole he is in.

For the first half of the book there is a lot of emotions being dealt with, a secret is revealed and Asher and Chelcie is trying to figure out what is going on between them and what their future would be. We finally turn a corner and things get mighty HOT between them. Asher’s alpha trait kicks in and Chelcie takes hold of what she wants with no plans of letting go.

 photo cooperollage1_zps26690737.jpg
Sunshine, once I take you- make you mine- I won’t ever let you go. You’re mine, baby. This body, this heart, and damn sure this pussy. I won’t take you until I know you understand what I’m saying to you.” ~ Asher

I really loved these two together. Asher was a perfect mix of sweetness, caveman and alpha. I loved the moments when he got all possessive and made comments to Maddox. And Chelcie did have a special light about herself. She was strong but also allowed her weaknesses to show through. For me it just made her more relatable.

Asher and Chelcie have given each other a gift and a promise of a future. As they work through the pain and craziness they both get that little piece of heaven they need. Asher is willing to give all of himself to Chelcie and be the man she needs him to be.

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
A few extra thoughts…….

I loved loved loved getting to catch up with the other Corp’s guys. And Sway….he is just as flamboyant as ever but there was a little something else we got from him this time too.

And we get these little bits about Maddox. I am dying to know his story. We see him in a different light this time - IMO. The things he shared with Chelcie just struck me in a profound way. I pray he finds his way out of his darkness and that he finds his happiness.

We also get a fantastic playlist too. A few of my favorite songs are:

Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton
Beam Me Up by Pink
How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding
Whereever You Will Go by Charlene Soraia

4.5 Love You Baby Stars!

I have loved this series from the very beginning. Each one of the men in the security group holds a special place in my literary heart! With the heartbreaking devastation that was experienced at the end of Beck's book, I knew Harper Sloan was gonna come strong with the angst! Well done lady...I admit to at least 2 episodes of tissue finding!

Dear Lord...Asher Cooper is a big beautiful mess...

He is a broken shell with his other half missing. You the reader will get such a profound feel as to how deep his loss is with the author's past flashbacks into his brotherhood. It is no wonder he is drowning at the bottom of a bottle and laying anything remotely warm. The problem is that he continues to be tied up over the unattainable Chelcie.

And oh what a little ticking time bomb Chelcie's secret is. What she doesn't realize is that she is the only thing that can heal Asher. She may have found release in Coop at one time but her heart and mind are in sync with the older brother, Asher. She just needs to let go of her trepidation and believe in what she knows to be true...Asher is so much more that what he appears to be! Her ability to bring him peace and light is so touching...

I will say that I absolutely again, am in complete love with Maddox Locke...he stays the consistent star of the show with his words of wisdom and his guidance to the boys to "get their shit together!" I will drop everything the day his tale is released!!!

Overall, I loved this...

I loved the bad boy gets his shit together moments and how well they were written without "cheese". I appreciated the sweet yet sexual heat that Asher brought into Chelcie's life. Most of all I enjoyed the angsty connection between Chelcie and Asher...all of it was pure romance just like I like it!

Well... I will start off saying that I love Harper and I LOVE her writing style. She's one of my favorite author's so the fact that I didn't love this book will in no way keep me away from her next one. This one just didn't do it for me. I just wasn't able to connect with Asher and Chelcie on the same level that I've connected with all the couples from her previous books. Something about Asher and Chelcie just never felt "right" to me. Oh well, still looking forward to what Harper gives us next!

4 "I wanted to love it more" stars

To say I was excited for the release of this book would have been a major understatement. So when it got released early, I pounced on it. It was quite short, I realized after I finished reading it in less than 4 hours.

description
Sooooooo, Asher. Ya. I didn't get the guy. I really wanted to love him, and I did everything in my power to love him. Didn't feel the love from my side. Everything that happened was just a tad too unbelievable for me to swallow.

Chelcie was just a pregnant hormonal chick. Nothing more to be said.

Only when Coop was mentioned in the beginning did I feel any sort of connection. And then... I was a passive bystander just watching things happen.

Overall, it was an okay book. The "oomph factor", that extra sizzle that I have come to expect from this author, and this series was missing from this story. It's like she has found the correct formula, so let's just apply the damn formula to every couple out there, okay? That's what I felt in this book. Just a smidge of "trying-too-hard" came off from this story; everything had the overkill, desperate factor. Not my favorite of the series, that's for sure.

Now, I'm desperately waiting for Maddox's book. There were just so many prompts about his life and past, that I'm expecting absolute greatness. Like "knock-me-on-my-ass" greatness. Please don't let me down. I've been waiting for Maddox to have his story told from the very first book - and guess what? His is the last. I'm hoping the best is saved for last.

Just remember, that before you read:

I will probably be in the minority with this one, and hope that I don’t get shunned by the mad Corps Security fans out there, because while I really love this series, sadly this book didn’t really work for me. There were elements of it that I really liked, but other parts that I struggled with.

Warning – this review is going to be REALLY spoilery for earlier books in the series. It’s important to read this series in order, and if you haven’t read Beck, please look no further!!!

……..

Seriously!!

……..

OK, so this book picks up with Asher devastated and broken following the tragic death of his brother. His life consists of sleeping with random women and drinking himself into stupor. Chelcie is watching the train wreck that is Asher, and it’s breaking her heart. The two of them have grown close since Coop’s death and there is definitely an attraction there, but Asher senses that Chelcie is scared and hasn’t pushed things with her – yet another reason to drink and screw his time away. Chelcie does have deep feelings for Ash, but seeing him in so much pain, as well as witnessing the constant trail of women is devastating her. Especially because she is keeping a secret – one that she is too terrified to share with Ash as it may break him completely, or it could be the one thing he needs to help see him overcome his demons.

I’m really conflicted over this book. There was huge potential for Asher and Chelcie’s story, and the initial build up is absolutely fantastic! There is a lot of emotion – good and bad – and my heart was pounding waiting for something to happen. And when Ash finally gets his metaphorical slap across the face and wakes up to what he is missing out on, the subsequent confrontation is a little bit epic.

“You’re going to realize real soon that when I say you’re mine, I mean it. We’ve been dancing around this for way too long … And before the day is over, there will be no fucking doubt in that pretty little head just how much I mean it.”

There’s a bit of early back and forth, but things come together pretty quickly, and then it’s all on!

“Sunshine,” I murmur, “once I take you – make you mine – I won’t ever let you go. You’re mine, baby. This body, this heart, and damn sure this pussy. I won’t take you until I know you understand what I’m saying to you.”
“I thought you didn’t do relationships, Ash?” she mocks.
“I didn’t. You’re a game changer.”

And Asher is all kinds of swoony! Making some beautifully heartfelt declarations that melted me into a puddle of goo. Warning – BIG SPOILER --->.

But as much as I love a swoony alpha, I found some of Ash’s behaviour to be a little… off. He goes from being a completely shattered man to becoming an absolute cave-man, ridiculously raving on about “MY woman” (insert chest beating here), and then there’s this kind of behaviour…

I know what’s coming before I even hear my name being growled – yes, growled.
“Chelcie!” The sound erupts through the room. My shoulders stiffen, but I turn and meet his eyes. “Get. Over. Here.”
… “Now, Chelcie,” he declares again.
I obviously am not moving at a pace quick enough to placate his request because he takes the ten steps to me from the door in five and lightly grabs my wrist, pulling me forward and out the door.

Now granted, Chelcie’s behaviour immediately preceding this outburst was a wee bit stupid, but still… he is intense!

And then, once he claims his girl, he instantly turns into perfect man - ultra swoony and overly protective in a perfectly functional relationship (even with the continued alpha-ness). This formula usually really works for me, and there are some really beautiful moments… but I found them to be slightly leaning towards the cheesy end of things, with overly dramatic emotional outbursts and physical gestures.

And the sex. Wow. I really don’t know what to say. There’s lots of it, and it’s hot, but it’s also really descriptive, and honestly, kinda gross in places. I don’t consider myself to be prudish, but I think I may have actually gagged at one point. . And then there's Chelcie and her astounding ability to orgasm - all the freaking time! I think if the wind blew the right way, she'd go off!

And then there's Asher's OTT possessiveness...

Asher’s face turns hard as he looks at Maddox with nothing short of bared vehemence.
“I suggest you get your fucking hands off my woman,” he fumes.
Maddox doesn’t move. He keeps his hold on my hips, and I see Asher’s eye twitch.
“I’ll fucking kill you,” he vows.
“Oh be quiet, you overgrown ape!” I scream down at him.

Yeah, Chelcie can handle her man. I really liked her. She’s confident and strong, and is not afraid to stand up for herself, or her loved ones, and she has a few moments of epicness of her own.

“We all have that person… Every. Single. One. Of. Us. We have that person who makes us complete. He is my person.”

As with the other books in the series, there is a non-romantic storyline, but it wasn’t as strong a focus in this one, and when the big ‘oh shit’ moment comes, it comes WAY out of left field and, to me, felt like it had been randomly put in just to create a bit of excitement when it really wasn’t needed.

The rest of the CS boys and their girls (and kids) all form part of the story, and as always, I loved the interactions with the larger group. I particularly enjoyed getting to see more of Maddox. He has some big moments of awesome, and there is a great lead in to his book with he and Emmy getting a bit of story time, and the dynamic between them is fantastic.

So yeah, overall I did enjoy this book. I really liked seeing Ash and Chelcie fight their demons and find their HEA, and I’m happy with how it all came about, I just found that elements of it were a little much for me. I’m still a fan of the series, and am looking forward to the next book – Maddox!!!

3 stars.

In the past year I have fallen in love with a man that has proven that Love Conquers All.

My soul was stolen and my body was consumed by the trifecta that is The Beast. I didn't know he was what I was looking for, but every Beauty needs a Beast.

I swooned and sighed and had my heart melted by a man that has proven that good men still exist and he would wait forever for his girl.

I had my heart broken when I had to say farewell to our fallen brother. I didn't see it coming and I still to this day, when I see his name or remember our time together, I can't stop crying. I am crying right now just writing about my Zeke Cooper.

With the end of each book I am always left thinking that how amazing her writing is. How I can see the growth in her words and the growth in the story lines. I love following her work and being able to say that I was there in the beginning and I watched a legend be born.

So, a year later, I have been given a gift. I have been given a man that puts his family first, doesn't take any shit from anyone and is so fucking fierce I want him to pin me up against and wall and show me exactly what he is made of. I want to be his Sunshine.

Asher Cooper. FUCK ME. He damn well might be perfect. He is a broken man, a fucked up big ass mess of a man. He can't seem to get out of it. There were times I wanted to smack the shit out of him, but fuck, I got it. I got what he was feeling, because I felt the same. I lost Coop too. My heart broke right along with his. But once he realized he what he was doing, he grew up and became AMAZING.

The pain in the words on the pages tore me apart. The pure sorrow was so real that all I could do was weep and feel the pain and just keep going. I had to keep going because I knew that this story was going to blow me away.

This is a love story done so perfectly that I am speechless. Their love isn't over shadowed by angst or over the top drama. It is a story about 2 people who are trying to find their way in life after losing a man that was so real and so perfect, that they can't live in a world without him. She throws in some amazing twists, some laugh out loud moments, the perfect amount of angst and you have one of the most BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN LOVE STORIES.

What Asher Cooper has taught me:

Life isn't always perfect, we don't get to decide when we leave this earth. We don't get to prepare our loved ones and we don't get to say goodbye. LIFE IS BULLSHIT and we can't ever change that. What we have to do is find away to move on but to cherish those that we have lost and live life to the fullest. When you find the one that makes you feel like life isn't shit and you don't have to be the person the devil told you were.

Harper Sloan has a way of making me become to invested in her stories that I am consumed by them. I was in tears before I even finished the prologue. I can't stop crying as I type. My emotions are all over the place with this book.

Not only can Harper write absolutely fucking amazing Alpha males, but the heroines she writes are out of this world. I liked Izzy, shut up she is pretty damn cool now. I had the biggest lady boner for Melissa. Dee made me feel feels that I didn't know I could and I loved her in the end.

But Chelcie, OMG Chelcie was written fucking brilliant. I loved the hormonal outbursts, I love the way she spoke to Asher and didn't take anyone's shit. She is smart, sweet, tough, emotional, loving, kind, SHE IS EVERYTHING. (and she has the best fucking name ever)

So, did I love this book? HELL FUCKING YEAH. I loved it so much I am awarding it our golden TV.. Because there aren't enough TV's in the world for this book. This is her best writing, her best story line, her best characters yet. You do not want to miss this book.

HARPER SLOAN IS A GENIUS!!!!!!

I am going to keep this review short and sweet, as I know there will be a ton of reviews out there that will do more justice than mine!
First of all, I love this series by Harper Sloan. I find that Ms. Sloan knows exactly what I love in an alpha male and delivers them to me on a platter! Asher Cooper is not only an alpha to the extreme; but he is such a sweetheart! The things that he does for his woman, literally melted me! I loved how this story line played out, and how a situation that could have been so awkward was written in a way that made it quite endearing.

My one complaint with this installment, was that the relationship between Cooper and Chelcie seemed to fall into place right away and then they had hardly any troubles after that. Other than that, it was a great read, with all of that hot, steamy sex that we are used to from the Corps men! I can't wait for the next installment which will be featuring the man we have ALL been waiting for! Maddox!!! I just KNOW its gonna be worth the wait! Keep them coming Harper Sloan, and I will keep reading!

Cooper was def my least fav so far of the series. It was still a good book, it was just missing the overall greatness Harper is known for.

I thought Chelsie was a bit of a door mat and Archer turned his life around in a matter of a week and became a bit too pussy whipped for me too quickly.

Overall a good read but I'm hoping and praying that I'm not getting my hopes up for Maddox's book (THE book I've wanted all along) only to be let down. Only time will tell.

This was so bad I don't even know where to begin.
It took me almost a week to read a book I could have read in a sitting. It was literally painful for me to read, but I powered on because I try to finish all of the books I start, and because I've been waiting for Maddox's book and didn't want to miss out on anything before it is released. I also couldn't believe this was written by the same author who wrote the other 3 books in this series.

I wanted to throw my kindle several times while reading this. Let's see, the ever annoying insta love was here in spades. There were references to a friendship formed where sparks were flying, but we as readers were not privy to any of that. It was written but never experienced by the reader. Almost everything about this book was over the top, and not even close to in a good way. The blind dates were over the top. Asher's "my womans" and "she is mines" were over the top. The drama at the end was so ridiculous and unsuspenseful that I almost shouted "You have GOT to be f'en kidding me!" The story was stilted, forced and just trying too hard in every way shape and form. It was so formulaic that there was no emotional connection with either character at all.

Chelcie was beyond annoying, and Asher was my least favorite of any of the previous heroes. Repeat that over and over again and you will have an idea of what was going through my mind the entire time. In fact, Chelcie officially makes my list of least likeable heroines ever.

After waiting so long for Maddox's book, I am almost frightened to read it now. I've wanted to read Maddox's story since reading Axel, but I'm afraid it will be ruined if it is in any way written the way this book was. I almost feel like the author was out of ideas and threw Coop's book together to meet a deadline or something. I actually enjoyed reading the other 3 books of the series, but this may have been my least favorite book I have read this year, and I read a lot. I hate to be so negative, but I haven't a clue as to how this book is getting so many 4 and 5 star ratings. A positive was that the author knows how to write some very steamy scenes. Unfortunately, those scenes weren't enough to save this book. Please please please Harper Sloan, do not disappoint us with Locke. I can't make it through another book like Coop.

Harper Sloan, you did it again. You slay me with your writing and story lines. I went into this thinking it was going to be super sexy like the other three in this series, and well ... it was sexy, but HOLY HELL the depth. THE. DEPTH.

You're going to get a caveman, you're going to get a love story, you're going to get passion and heat ... what I didn't know I was going to get that I was slammed with ... AN AMAZINGLY RAW AND PAINFUL back story ... it was FANTASTIC .. it was angsty .. it was DELICIOUS!!!

Asher Cooper won my heart ... He's not replaced any of my other CS men ... I have a special little vault in the deepest part of my heart for Corps Security, where I keep them all locked away to love on at the same time. They're PERFECT.

Troubled pasts ... discouraging futures ... a few WTF moments ... and some CAVEMAN SEX!!!

Harper ... I'm so honored you've trusted me with your baby before it was released ... I am in love with Asher Cooper ... I am in love with EVERYTHING. Thank you for giving me a riveting, edge of my seat story line that I couldn't put down.

I proudly, unashamedly give this book 5 stars!!!

Wow. What a series. For the past 2 weeks I've been reading every book in this series and getting caught up on what everybody but me already seems to know--Harper Sloan can write one hell of an erotic, alpha male-centered series!

This is Asher Cooper and Chelsie Avery's story. Chelsie is the bff of Dee, and used to work for her at her insurance business in NC. Now Chelsie is in Georgia, after what went down in Beck. And Asher is (Zeke)(Coop) Cooper's older brother. If you've read Beck(my personal favorite of the series), you know what happened to him.:( When she first sees Asher, she's bowled over by his resemblance to Coop. But does he think like Coop? Does he believe that there could be a good woman for him , and is he willing to try/trust a woman? Or is he content to never trust his heart to a woman?

Asher...

 photo c9bd7f8d-20ed-43ac-965e-6ce657e891ac_zps5f6ab62e.jpg

The opening pages of this book just about broke my heart, as we read about Coop's and Asher's painful early childhood (their mother is the bitch from hell), and realize that that is why Coop acts the way he does. It explains a lot. But Asher is hopeful that all women are not just like his mother, and really tries to find one that's right for him. But naturally, when he thinks he's found the one, his heart (sort of) gets broken. Could Coop be right? But then he meets Chelsie, under the worst possible circumstances...

I really enjoyed this one. Not only was it typically hot (as all the books in the series are) but because (for once) the heroine isn't all messed up (as Izzy, Dee were)--it's the hero who's messed up. Asher suffers a lot in this one, until he and his 'Sunshine' develop an unbreakable bond. I enjoyed Chelsie (even though she did cry a lot), I enjoyed Asher, and of course they were smokin' together. (Maybe not as much as Cage and Melissa, or Dee and Beck, but still darn hot).

Chelsie...

As with all the books in the series, it followed the same format: H/h have conflict at first; H/h get together and set the sheets on fire; both are happy so what can wreck the happiness?; Ah, yes, pyscho/madman/woman comes into their life and wrecks havoc. I will admit, in Cooper, I misjudged who the psycho was going to be , and there was sort of a wth moment(or two) for me (), but it didn't really affect my enjoyment of the book. Okay, maybe I rolled my eyes a bit...

So who's up next? Locke!!! "Maddox Locke", as Cohen would say.:) Now we get to learn all his secrets, and why he's keeping himself so "locked up"--no pun intended. I've been dying to know all about him since I first met him in Axel. Can't wait for his story--hope it lives up to its promise. 4 1/2 stars

3.5 This Love Is Perfect Stars

description

In Cooper we get to see the kind of life Coop and Ash had and how Ash practically raised his younger brother, those glimpse
from past were so painful that it makes you to reach out and safe them from all hurt and himulation their
society was throwing at them. Ash was always been there whenever Coop needed him and he fought every single
fight for his little brother that's the reason when Ash found that his brother got shot and than when he made it
to him it was already to late, he started thinking that he failed Zeke for not being there there to safe him and now he's gone...

description

Ash can't find his way to face the reality that his brother is not coming back, he's slipping to the oblivion where the angst of losing someone you can't imagine living your life without can't reach....

description

Chelice has a major impact on Ash's life when Coop died, she was there when he needed her regardless of how mean sometimes he gets with her and the way she dealt with all these situations gave the picture of her strong and determined soul.
that's the one thing I like about Chelice that whenever she get pissed over Ash, she made sure to stood her ground and tell him that he`d hurt her beyond imagination which make Ash going all ALPHA on HIS WOMAN and steaming up the attraction they both have for each other.

“Sunshine,” I murmur, “once I take you—make you mine—I won’t ever let you go. You’re mine, baby.”

description
-------------------------

Why I gave it 3.5 Stars when the Moment I was finished with Beck I started rooting for Ash because two things made me minus those 2.5 stars, first one was the whole Baby issue 'To tell Ash or to not tell
Ash yet' was being dragged to long to be necessary and second was Chelcie's awkward dating scenes which all but made me scream at one point at her 'GIRL! YOU ARE AT POINT BLANK RANGE SO WHY DON'T KICK HIM
IN THE SHIN WHERE IT COUNTS!' but NO! she all but doing sitting there eyes closed and let that perv have his way with her TOES! and wait for her Knight in Shinning Armor to safe the day!

Chelice's was all but weepy weepy and weepy! I don't know if being pregnant makes someone a cry machine for 24/7 but if it does?! well..... I`m still not into the whole Soap Oprah situations.
NOPE! NADA!

This series just seems to get better and better.

I will say that Asher and Chelcie's story really packed an emotional punch. Asher's pain was overwhelming at times and his childhood broke my heart. His emotions were so raw that I had moments where I had to stop reading and collect my thoughts (his loss was a bit too close to home for me). While he initially didn't deal with his loss too well, he knew that deep inside Chelcie was the light at the end of the dark very place he was living in.

Chelcie was dealing with both a loss and a new life. Wrestling with her feelings for Asher wasn't helping much. I liked Chelcie's sassiness and strength but admit I got very frustrated with her stalling and excuses for not giving Asher the very important news that would change his life.

Once everything was out in the open Asher and Chelcie's love story was wonderful. Their love for each other jumped off the pages and Asher's actions were swoon worthy. They are definitely my new favorite couple in this series. (I think I say that after reading each book in this series).

I loved having the gang being a part of the story. Who doesn't love Sway and his sass. Every time Cohen is around his comments leave me in stitches.

A downside for me was the drama at the end. Where did that come from? Left me a bit stumped but as usual the story was wrapped up nicely and left me with a smile.

Now lets get to my favorite book boyfriend - MADDOX! Once again he makes small appearances here and there (and never enough for me). As always his words of wisdom seem to be spoken from experience. I just know his story is going to be an emotional roller coaster and with the addition of head strong Emmy in his life it's obvious their story will be epic.

Can’t say I’ve been waiting for a book not to be awesome in this series....
By the way, none of these books are meant to be read as standalones. You should pick them in the order they were published.

If that’s the case, then you already know this one isn’t about the funny, laid back, I-was-so-curious-about Coop. My Coop was killed two books back, i think. The hero he was, he took a bullet meant for Emmy. I was devasted and for the first time ever, i didn’t jump to the epilogue, i went straight two books ahead, just to read a glimpse of Cooper’s book and convince myself he’s actually dead.

That being said, Cooper is actually Asher Cooper, who falls in love with Chelcie (awesome name, don’t you think?), Dee’s former employee and the girl who had a one night stand with Cooper, after Dee’s attack. Surprise, surprise, our heroine is pregnant after that one night, which is bitter sweet, since the baby’s daddy is killed before she gets to tell him.

Now, my 4⭐️ come because I couldn’t like Asher so much, at least not in the beginning. Besides the fact that he screwed all whores possible, he drank himself to death. Then suddenly he declares Chelcie’s his woman, caveman style, as that’s that. I get that he was suffering like all of us, but come on, my Corps Security men should be better than that. The good news is that once he stopped drinking, I believed him and his attraction for “his woman” and I liked him enough. He’s not coming anywhere close to the love i have for the previous guys, but I think he’s perfect for Chelcie.

The part i loved the most about this story was the full circle: Yes, Harper Sloan is amazing like that. ❤️
