Though they've yet to meet face to face, Maya has had a secret crush on Xavier, the man who owns a wine café that the winery she works for distributes to. But being that Xavier is involved, she'd never reveal her feelings. Xavier's previous relationship has left him wrung out emotionally. Needing to get away for awhile, he decides to drive to Napa and visit the winery that produces one of the best selling wines at his café. And finally get the opportunity to meet the woman with the sweet little voice. One email and four little words stands to flip their love lives on its head and when Maya and Xavier meet for the first time, both are blindsided by the attraction they feel for one another. Springtime and wine make a beautiful backdrop for two people on a romantic journey to love...
When I heard that Té Russ was writing a series of books with a focus on love in the different seasons, I loved the idea. And the first book in the series, A Spring Affair, is the sort of friends (or more like business acquaintances) to lovers story that I like to read. Xavier and Maya have known one another for years--he owns a wine bar/wine shop while her family owns and runs a vineyard that just happens to carry his favourite wine. When Xavi decides he needs a change of scenery and heads to Napa Valley, he decides to pay a visit to Maya's family's vineyard. Of course, the two have flirted from time to time and Maya has a crush on him...but since Xavier's always had a girlfriend in the time she's known him, she assumes there will never be anything more than a flirtatious business relationship with him... well, I could tell you more but that would ruin the story for you.
A Spring Affair will put you in the mood to fall in love. It's a fun love story about two people who were essentially meant to be together. I really liked how Té portrayed her two very likeable leads and a great cast of secondary characters. The wine country setting is a great bonus and provides a great backdrop for the story.
I liked this book. It was a mostly straightforward contemporary romance featuring two genuinely nice people as protagonists. I liked that they were close to their families, who meddled, but managed not to be completely overbearing. We got more of Xavier's backstory than Maya's, which I felt was a bit of a shame, since her personal and family history seemed fascinating. I learned a bit about wine and thought the author did a good job setting the scene in the wine cafe, vineyard, and California in general.
I most confess that I enjoyed the easy way love crept in between Xavier and Maya. First friends and then a relationship. I also got to learn about wine. The story is sweet and I look forward to reading more books from Te Russ.
This was a great romantic story of Xavier and Maya who for years have talked over the phone. Maya taking Wine Orders and Xavier selling and stocking them in his Wine and Dine Cafe.
Maya for years have only talked to the Xavier over the phone, is it possible to have a crush on someone just by hearing the sound of their voice? Well yes it is more than possible. Xavier has called the Black owned Russell Oaks Winery for a number of years to order one of the best wines in America. He is always greeted by the sweet voice of Maya, and after a while began to talk about their personal lives. So when Xavier announced he was coming to Napa and would like a tour, Maya was excited and nervous at the same time but toned it down when she believed he would be bringing his girlfriend.
Xavier needs a break, after a bitter split from his ex his sister, Lena convinces him to get away for a while, he thinks its a great idea but his plan is to go an hour away to take some wine tours. Xavier goes to the wineries on his life and Russell Oaks is his last stop and when he walks in and introduces himself, he is blown away and can't believe the woman he has spoken to over the few years is standing in front of him and is gorgeous. Maya finally meets her crush and the voice alone does not do him justice, everything about him is divine in her eyes. But she remembers he's in a relationship until he says, that it's over. After his tour, Maya gives him a wine and cheese tasting in the cave and what sparks from there is the possibility of something special.
Xavier and Maya's story was really good, with ex-girlfriend Darby is the antagonist who can't quite get it into her that Xavier no longer wants her, his sister who is a pistol (I love her LOLL!!), his family and Maya's family. This was just a really great story which I highly recommend.
This story was not good because I kept waiting for a description of the characters and none came. I found it hard to relate to anyone without visuals... The 1 and only description was toward the end of the book he was the color of milk chocolate, what! Very disappointing 😞 I cannot recommend this book and I may stay away from this author in the future.
Unfortunately, this story did nothing for me. It seemed rushed and deserved better editing. I truly didn't feel the love nor the chemistry that brought Xavier and Maya together. Disappointed.
Cute short story with interesting characters. I enjoyed it, although I felt the relationship moved too quickly, but so is life. I guess it happens sometimes. I found the quick read enjoyable, though.
Alright Ms. Te, I see you. Xavier and Maya...what a ride! They met, 4 dates and a few months later, they are in love, married, and beginning on their journey of FOREVERMORE. Mighty sweet. I loved it! On to Book 2!
Xavier found himself a wife in Maya, loved their story, that crazy woman, Darby needs a straight jacket, that's right Lena, she's stood up for brother. Marriage 💞 yesssss
This was a perfect little love store. A Spring Affair is written for the true romantic with just a little dash of drama to keep it interesting I loved this quick read
I loved this story. Xavier and Maya 's love was truly beautiful. And everyone needs a sister like Lena. I loved "Evie" but Lena was hilarious. I'm ready for the next one.
This book could have been so good. The storyline was really cute and the author could have really done a lot with it. Instead, the story stayed very vague. There was never really a description of the characters and you did not get enough back story so that you could get to know the characters. But my biggest headache was trying to figure out when the author changed scenes. It was difficult to tell because you would be reading along and suddenly, in the next paragraph, we are talking about a different person in a different location...there was no separation to let you know that she was switching scenes. It became very infuriating!
Long distance friendships turned into relationships are truly a great way to get to know a special person. Even if the cards are not looking to be in your favor, love will always find a way. Cute story about love, passion, family and happiness. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Maya and Xavier had known each other for a few years as business acquaintances over the phone. When they finally met face to face there was an instant attraction and the beginning of their spring affair. This is a sweet romance that draws you in.
Being an avid reader, I become critical But Te' has joined the small group of LOVED AUTHORS for me. Her romance is clean & realistic, not overly done. I enjoyed the relationship of Xavier & Anaya. I will be reading more from Te' Ross ...
This book was just what I needed. A wonderful love story, full of romance and great sex. Loved this book! After the treatment he received from his ex, Xavier deserved the love of Maya. Great book!
Ms. Russ is a very gifted writer. I learned quite a bit about wine through the eyes of Xavier and Maya. Just the right amount of drama and plenty of romance!
