Nathaniel Ivory is known in the tabloids as “Naughty Nate,” and this son of a huge, wealthy family that’s often referred to as “American Royalty” has done everything he can to earn that nickname. Nate’s penchant for trouble has kept him from fully earning a respectable spot in the many family businesses. He’s forever destined to be the black sheep whose scandals need to be swept under the rug. But Nate is determined to change all that through his new position as the manager of the minor league baseball stadium and team that he and his friends are launching in Barefoot Bay. All he has to do is avoid even a hint of scandal.

But then he meets irresistible, blue-eyed Liza Lemanski, who makes some claims about his past that rock him to the core. Liza maintains that Nate has a son that is a result of a fling he had with her best friend, who died in an accident. Liza plans to adopt the child, but wants to eliminate any chance Nate will claim paternity rights. No problem...he doesn’t even believe he has a son, and thinks the whole thing is probably a scam. Until he meets four year old Dylan and recognizes every Ivory gene in the child. All he has to do is give up his child to save himself from a scandal he can't afford to have, but suddenly Nate is looking at life differently. As he and Liza dig to find out the truth about Dylan's father and mother, their attraction turns to fire and, without a doubt, someone is going to get burned.

I don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.

First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.

I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.

Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.

xoxo
Rocki

Great series..

I think this might have been my favorite of the 3 books in this series. Maybe because there seemed to be a little more drama to it: the question of who Dylan’s father was, Nate or Jeff Munson, and the fight Nate and Jeff had. The question of who Bailey/Carrie really was and the snooping Nate and Liza had to do to find out. Together they took his yacht from Barefoot Bay to Key West to look into the background of Bailey because Liza believed she was a sweet girl and Nate just knew Bailey was a liar. Yeah, it had a little more to it than the other two books.

I liked Nate a little more than Zeke and Elliot, too. He was trying to get away from his Naughty Nate reputation but it was so difficult for him, so hard for others to believe. Until he met Liza.

I did adore Dylan (he was 4) and his constant spelling but I saw no reason for the author to write about him having a temper tantrum. She makes him a great kid one minute then a total brat. What was the point in that?

There was plenty of sexual tension in these 3 books, which made them much better, rather than just plopping a sex scene into a story because the publishers tell them that sex sells. And there was explicit sexual things that went on, on top of his desk, that was plenty hot. And there was swearing and the
F-bomb was used 2 times.

As to the narrator: Kaleo Griffith was just as good in this book as he was in the other two stories. His voices were awesome and his whispering would give any woman goose bumps.

The hero is a trust fund kid with a sleazy past, famous for being rich and naughty. The heroine is a county employee raising her good friend's son after her death. Heroine wants to adopt the boy, so she tracks down the hero to get a parental rights termination signed. But he's trying to reform and is interested in the child. And since this is a romance, quickly becomes interested in the heroine. It's a sweet story with a blustery grandpa kicking off the black moment. I enjoyed it.

Scandal on the Sand by Roxanne St Claire

Gorgeous and sexy. The read, the romance and the love. Absolutely loved Nate's story in this third of three novellas in Barefoot Bay by Roxanne St Claire. This one especially had the feel of a full length complete story without being rushed. N.A.T.E. I shed a couple of happy tears. And yes, will read this one again which is extremely rare for me. A feel good "awww".

Naughty Nate Ivory is trying to hard to overcome his "naughty" title as dubbed by the media. He's intent on business and sure he's on the right track. But the past has a way of catching up.
Liza Lemanky just wants Nate's signature on a legal document, not an autograph or a date with the famous playboy. Complications arise when a photo catches Nate's attention and he can no longer walk away from fate.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

Scandal in the Sand 3.5 stars
I liked this novella and in general I liked the Billionaires of Barefoot Bay sub series of the Barefoot Bay Series. So I’m going to get what I didn’t care for out of the way first so the last things you take away from the book and mini series are positives.
I’m a man, which makes me a bit of an anomaly as a contemporary romance reader. This series was obviously written with the female readers in mind. Two examples. First, even though Mandy the heroine of the first book knows Frankie the heroine of the second book, Mandy has barely any presence in Frankie and Elliott’s story. Frankie has become good friends with Liza the heroine of this story but literally has no presence in Liza's story. But Zeke and Elliott and Nate the billionaire lead characters in the three stories all appear frequently in each other’s stories. And what is with Elliott being so suspicious of Liza’s motives early on when he knows how much Frankie likes and trusts her? At any rate it obviously was more of a priority to have the hunky male leads reappear in these stories than the beautiful female leads. As a guy, I would have loved to see more than a glimpse of the other female leads and let them have some sort of relationships in each other’s stories since they already had loose connections and their men were all BFFs. Even at the end of this book, which is also the end of the series, Mandy and Frankie appear but get no dialogue. They’re basically just arm candy for Zeke and Elliott. The other reason I can tell this book was written for the female readers is the guys never get laid. Not that Ms. St. Claire is one of those authors that ever writes really explicit sex scenes but the women in these stories get their needs taken care of while the guys are left with blue balls because they are so unselfish and focused on satisfying their women. Just saying.
And complaints specific to this story. The little boy Dylan is supposed to be four years old and completely adorable. But the way Roxanne writes his character he too often acts like a two or three year old with outbursts and temper tantrums. Which is fine but make him a three year old going on four not a four year old going on three. Lastly when the Colonel (Nate’s grandfather) makes an appearance in this story we’re never shown whether he’s really the prick he acts like or if he was just trying to push his grandson’s buttons to determine how strong his feelings for Liza are. The author hints that Liza had a previous relationship that didn’t end well which affects her feelings towards men and about her own insufficiencies, but never gives us any details. In this story during her trip to Key West with Nate she is convinced she doesn’t want Dylan growing up around the life of over the top privilege Nate and his family lead as expressed by his massive yacht. She’s also horrified at what it’s like to be an Ivory living in the public eye. But as she falls in love with Nate those concerns for Dylan seem to become non-issues.
Now the positives.
I loved the way Roxanne wrote the Liza character. I loved how she was so frightened that the Ivory family would try to take Dylan from her. You could feel her fear as palpable. I loved the way she gave Liza that vulnerable sense of being “not quite.” You could really sense her vulnerability and lack of self-esteem. I loved the way she conveyed Liza’s sense of betrayal and hurt when she discovers a friend she loved and trusted had not been honest with her. And I loved that how despite all this she made Liza a bright and resourceful woman unaware of how special she was. For much of this series Nathaniel “Nasty Nate” Ivory comes off as a jerk. In this book we see him trying to put his “Nasty Nate” days and reputation behind him. I loved how his falling for Liza served as a catalyst to hasten the process even though the whole “you make me want to be a better man” thing from a Jack Nicholson movie is sort of overused. Didn’t Elliott say the same thing to Frankie? And lastly I loved the big romantic gesture Nate used to win Liza back. Loved that supermarket scene!
I now realize reading this over that my positives list appears shorter than my negatives but despite that, I did enjoy this three novella series and this story, although at the moment I honestly can’ t decide whether I enjoyed Frankie and Elliot’s or Liza and Nate’s more? I really did like the Amanda and Zeke characters from the first book. Zeke was easily my favorite male character despite his deusch move towards the end of that story. I just had some issues with the way their story played out.

For the most part this series is a quick, enjoyable read (exception being the second book). This book is a little bit of mystery mixed into the romance. The story builds off of characters met in previous books. Liza Lemanski is an employee in the County Clerks office who made appearances in the last book and becomes the female lead in this book as she tries to adopt a child. Complications occur as she tries to get the father to give up parental rights.
I like that this series continues so that the short stories combine into one larger story. My problems with the last one weren't as problematic during this one. Nate has a lot of the same sort of issues that Elliot did but the difference is Nate knows he has problems, tries to fix them but not solely as a way to win the love of a woman. There is no character development just to move the romance along.

I wasn't sure about this one as it started out, Liza was a bit of a shrew. Sure she had reason with what she knew and with Nate being who he was they were believable. I liked how Liza back down when she and Nate realized what Liza was told was in question and how they investigated. Of course they grew closer. It didn't surprise me when things went to hell, but what did was that Nate pushed back, that he said no and fought for Liza. It's too bad that by then she left and didn't hear it. Nate, however, did managed to get his point across, paving the way for their HEA.

Barefoot Bay 3

Nat is looking to change his image but a feisty lady who is legal guardian of a four year old stands in his way. The fact the child may be his is another factor. As Liza and Nate search to unravel the mystery of the child's mother, will the truth finally come out and will their feelings for each other with stand the truth?

She continues to create horrible women. Manipulative liars and those are the best qualities she give them. Liza is a terribly unlikable person. She can lie with every breath she takes and yet when anyone else does it she is offended to the core. Basically she's not someone anyone should want as a friend. I liked a lot of her books, but am officially done.

Who's The Daddy?

Liza is the legal guardian of four year old Dylan but she needs the signature of the father on the legal termination of parenthood to finish the process. The star of baseball, Naughty Nick Ivory is the father. Or is he? This story was a bit of mystery with twists and turns enough to make it a good read.

It's a nice quick cute short story. There's not too much depth and too much character development due to the length of the book but all in all I enjoyed the read and it was perfect for an afternoon on the balcony. :).

Loved the guy the hero turned out to be. The heroine was a bit hasty in some of her conclusions, but it wasn't anything that took away from the story. Very enjoyable read.

This is the third in the new trilogy of novellas from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Roxanne St. Claire. The stories take place in Barefoot Bay. AKA the Barefoot Bay Billionaires!

I really enjoyed this story. I liked the first two also. I can't say exactly what it was that drew me to this story more than the other two without giving away a key plot point. (Which I will not do.) But I love a story where the hero discovers he can be a better person and wants to change -- open his heart to the possibilities that love offers. And when they find they want something they never realized they were missing.

Roxanne St. Claire is one of my "must read" authors. I always know I won't be disappointed. My only complaint (if you can call it a complaint) would be that I would have preferred this (and the other two billionaire's stories) to be a full length novel rather than a novella. There would have been more time to develop the relationship between Nate and Liza. And let's face it -- a little more sex, ahem....love scenes. :)

I don't think you will be disappointed if you enjoy a light, contemporary with a sexy leading man and a smart and sassy heroine you will like this book.

I also recommend:

Review courtesy of Romance Junkies and can be found here: http://romancejunkiesreviews.com/artm...

Nathaniel “Nate” Ivory is a party-boy billionaire from a famous family. The media knows him best as “Naughty Nate” because scandals are nothing new to him and the Ivorys. He wants to put his wild, bad-boy ways behind him and prove to his grandfather, the family’s strict patriarch, his true worth. The unexpected news of his fatherhood status threatens to skew his attempt.

Liza Lemanski works at the County Clerk’s office. She knows her way around legal documents, able to spot a phony by a glance. All Liza wants is to adopt her deceased friend’s four-year-old; however, she needs the father to sign away his rights. But, Liza learns that the relationship her friend alluded to was fabricated.

At the start of the trilogy, I was on the fence about Nate. I did not have much on his personality, unlike his two friends, to draw an opinion. Book two gave a bit more insight, but not enough to reel me in. It did succeed in making me curious to learn how he got that scandalous reputation as a celebrity bad boy.

SCANDAL ON THE SAND delves deeper into Nate, answering all that I wondered about the man. In the beginning of the book, he came off as a jerk in his interaction with Liza. Yet, as I got deeper into the book, my opinion changed. Nate redeems himself as he grew and changed from the party-boy of his reputation.

I liked Liza since her introduction in SEDUCTION ON THE SAND. And the fact that she was no way impressed with Nate’s celebrity status or his money made her a fast favorite heroine. She continued to interest me with her pluckiness and determination. She is a perfect fit for Nate.

SEDUCTION ON THE SAND is a charming conclusion to THE BILLIONAIRES OF BAREFOOT BAY trilogy. The story is light-hearted goodness. It was nice to reacquaint with Tessa and Ian again. These spin offs always lend a deeper view into past books’ hero and heroine’s happily ever after.

In Scandal on the Sand by Roxanne St. Claire, "Naughty Nate" has been working to clean up his reputation and his lifestyle. His current business adventure is bringing a minor league baseball team to Barefoot Bay with his two friends.

Just as things seem to be on track for Nate, Liza shows up. A woman he's never laid eyes on before who has some shocking news for Nate. Nate and Liza are having trouble trusting each other, but they soon are working together to uncover the truth about Liza's now deceased friend...whose son Liza is now raising...who also happens to be the son Nate never knew he had.

There are secrets that neither can even guess at, and the scandal could rock Nate's world. But Nate refuses to take the easy way out, and he and Liza have some incredible chemistry together, even if they both still have their doubts about the other. Misunderstandings and poor communication soon mean Nate could stand to lose a lot more than he ever anticipated...unless he can show Liza who he really is and that he is not playing games. Both will have to decide what is right for them.

Liza and Nate might have different approaches to life, but the end goal for both of them is the same. Liza is cautious but not afraid to go after what she wants. Nate is a billionaire playboy on the surface, but if anyone takes the time to look below the surface he is so much more than that! Liza was a bit frustrating because she first saw only what she wanted to see in Nate. But sometimes things are not what they seem as she soon discovers!
Roxanne gives us a serious, but entertaining romance in Scandal on the Sand. Her writing makes it easy to become involved in the story of Nate and Liza. Roxanne gives us secrets, meddling but well meaning family members and friends, and another chance to visit Barefoot Bay. Well paced and easy to follow, Scandal on the Sand can be read alone, but reading the other books in this series will enhance your experience in Barefoot Bay!

I'd recommend Scandal on the Sand to any romance reader!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third and final novella of Roxanne St. Claire’s Billionaires of Barefoot Bay trilogy, an enjoyable spin-off of her fantastic Barefoot Bay series. It is hands down my favorite of the three. It can be read by itself, but I would recommend reading the first two stories, Secrets on the Sand and Seduction on the Sand, just to get to know the background and the other characters.

Nate Ivory, billionaire playboy, known as “Naughty Nate” in the tabloids is trying hard to move past the partying womanizer he once was. His antics were well documented much to the dismay of his grandfather, the Colonial, and tarnishing the name of Ivory Glass, the family-owned company. Determined to clean up his image, Nate and his two friends Zeke and Elliot, are building a minor league baseball stadium on Mimosa Key and the team that will play there. Just when things are improving for Nate, Liza Limansky shows up and wants him to sign a Termination of Parental Rights paper for a five year old boy he knows nothing about. This is not your typical “son he didn’t know he had” story. Nate is sure he would remember the beautiful Liza, but he doesn’t. So why would she want him to sign the paper? Does he have a son or is she just another gold digger trying to tap into his money? Another scandal, he does not need. What he needs even less is another tabloid story and his grandfather’s wrath. Things do not add up and Nate and Liza set out to find the truth. What they didn’t expect to find was love. She is exactly what he needs to keep him out of trouble and on the right path in life. And he is what she needs in her “almost-but-not-quite” life. The result is a delightful, sweet love story with a touch of mystery.

I’m sad to see the billionaires’ stories end, but I hope we might see a little more of them in the Brides of Barefoot Bay, coming soon.

The setting is always steamy and lush on Mimosa Key as we meet the highly recognized and über wealthy, American "royalty" and sexy playboy billionaire of Barefoot Bay. Nicknamed by the tabloids as "Naughty Nate", our unlikely hero of the third novella, Scandal On The Sand, is doing his level best to undo the damage caused by his past naughty reputation and avoid scandal at all costs as he begins to build and manage the respectable business of a minor league baseball team, the Barefoot Bay Bucks.

His plans come to an immediate halt when he's bulldozed by our seemingly common in comparison, but nonetheless beautiful and extremely efficient, Liza Lemanski. Liza's only goal is to gain Nate's signature forever relinquishing all parental rights to a four year boy, now her son by way of legal guardianship, whom she believes to be his son.

As they embark on a whirlwind journey to find the answers to the mystery of the boy's paternity, they are irresistibly drawn to one another but encounter what appear to be insurmountable obstacles including the mighty power of Nate's family, more secrets and scandal all the way to the pulse-pounding conclusion!

While Scandal On The Sand could easily stand alone in the Billionaires of Barefoot Bay trilogy, it is the third novella in the series and includes some of our favorite characters from both of the first two novellas as well as some of our most beloved characters from the original Barefoot Bay novels that kicked off the entire series! It was so much fun to read and enjoy Tessa & Ian and their twins once again! It also includes a sneak peek at the first full length novel "Barefoot In Lace" in the spinoff series soon to be released, the Barefoot Brides!! Nate & Liza's story is perfectly timed for a little extra romance this Valentine's Day :)
