Alyson was born and raised in the heart of England. She moved to Paris in 2015 when she met her wife. Together they moved to the west of France where they now live with their two dogs and pet bird. Alyson spends her time running a small campsite and holiday home. During her off time, she loves to read lesbian romance books, write and Scuba Dive.
Generally speaking, I'm not always a huge fan of romance sequels that do the whole post-HEA "time skip where we broke up and it was messy" thing. By and large, they tend to drag out the conflict just to keep tension in the narrative. But when you've already read a whole first book where the characters fall in love, it can get tiring to slog through a sequel that does the same thing, just with more drama.
However, this is a five-star review! So I'm very happy to report that this book does NOT do those things. We know that these women getting back together is a foregone conclusion, and so do the author and characters. It's refreshing to not have manufactured drama, especially since the why of their breakup is explained early. The only thing that gave me frustration was seeing the To Be Continued at the end. But I can't be upset over getting another book with Sloane and Eden!
I read the first one, and to be honest only vague memories but I do remember in my review saying it was a series but you could stop reading as a happy ending, not a cliffhanger! Well if the first 2% is anything to go by run, don't walk to the next book! Great start! Maternity scene brilliant! I lol'd literally at so many lines throughout this book! Having finished the book I can say the rest of it delivered on the promise of the first 2%! I can also say, as with the first in the series, you could finish on this as it doesn't end on a cliffhanger but I am desperate to read what comes next. Although I said I had vague memories of the first, it doesn't need to be read to get this but it possibly would add a layer but I think Root does a great job of establishing the gulf the mains have to cross.... and yet somehow still manages to produce what I would term a wonderfully angst free-ish, novel with heart and soul as well as Roots trademark humour. (for the mains..... the angst really happened off page, between the first and second book,)
This is a great second part to the Love in Motion series. I really like Eden and Sloane and the side characters are more than just supporting characters, they truly enrich the story. I’m really looking forward to read the third instalment.
Oh, how I’ve missed not only Eden and Sloane but Bella, Pia, Becca, Jenna and Todd!
4 years have passed by, and things aren’t all rosy in Sloane and Eden’s world.
Sloane has been dealing with her anxiety, and stress over college, so much so she’s pushed Eden & her friends away.
Eden has tried to understand Sloane’s need for space even though it’s broken her slightly.
Throwing herself into her art and even getting commissions with the help of her feisty gran over in England, Eden tries to live her life as best she can while she waits for Sloane to come back to her- she has no doubt about that but can she let her back in again!
Now, Sloane IS back home and wants nothing more than a chance to rebuild her friendship and hopefully show Eden, she loves her!
She knows she’s got her work cut out but with the help of her therapist and family she’s might just have a chance to finally be the person she AND Eden deserve.
The side characters are yet again just the BEST, Bella is still a pink haired demon, loyal to Eden but also understanding towards Sloane and her struggles.
Pia is …. Well…… pregnant! And total hormonal… She still got shitty parents!!
Luckily for her she’s got her found family, including Eden's parents and grandparents… oh…. And Todd lol…Poor Todd
Becca could do with a little page time, I think… I’d love to see her relationship with Bella played out some more… Their still absolutely smitten with each other and share an apartment with Eden... FUN TIMES!
How is this story all played out?... with the help of charity running events… Which offers some brilliant banter and dress up lol
As always Alyson handles the mental health rep with gentle hands and care…also an Alyson Root book wouldn’t be anything without Humour! And there’s so much of it in this new book.
Eden and Sloane will always be one of my favourite couples.
This is book two from a series of books with the same main characters throughout, Eden and Sloan, but this is set about four years later just as Sloane finishes her college. Book one “Walk With Me” was very good. This is a quote from my review for that: “Normally I don’t like stories that span several books, but this one has a very good ‘happy for now’ ending, as they both go off to college. With the next book in the series due soon, it’s really one I would love to read, but I will be expecting more angst.” https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... There really was more angst. lots of it. Lots of British humour, but in an American tone of voice it seemed incongruous at times. There was a lot more sadness than in the previous story, but it is tamed by the end of this book, leaving us at a good stopping point while we wait for the final book in the series. I don’t like the way some stories span several books, but at least here it is done in a sympathetic way, not leaving us on a cliffhanger, and throughout the book giving us enough information that this could be read as a stand-alone, although I wouldn’t recommend that. Overall this is a warm, friendly and loving story, with a continuous undercurrent of comedic crazy, worth reading more than once.
Short Summary Book 2 of the Love in Motion series.
Eden and Sloan were supposed to be forever, but when Sloane started not answering messages or joining the group calls, Eden became worried. When she went to visit Sloane asked for space and reluctantly Eden gave it to her.
Now they are all back in their hometown, Sloane has worked on herself therapy helping her deal with her anxiety and depression, and she knows she has bridges to rebuild with her friends and Eden. She just hopes that if she builds them, that Eden will be waiting on the other side.
My Review
Second chances and a supportive group of friends and family are the mainstays in this sapphic romance.
This is the second book in the Love in Motion series and continues to follow the relationship between Eden and Sloane. I’d recommend reading them in order because Walk with Me gives you additional context to how Eden and Sloane started.
This book really shows both sides of mental health, the person who is working to help themselves, and the people who want to help, but don’t know how to break through. There is the push/pull of wanting to insert yourself, thinking you know what is best, yet knowing sometimes you need to wait until the timing is right.
The support of friends and family is amazing as it is written. I did find it a little hard to believe that the reception Sloane received from Eden and her friends would actually happen in reality, but I liked this for Sloane, Eden, and their friends. It made he hopeful and as much as I like realism in my reading, I like good people having happy endings even more.
I liked how Sloane’s character development showed her progress and that she will always be working on her mental health. She has strategies in place that work for her for now, but is aware that she may need to tweak her treatment to continue to support her in the future. The awareness and openness with her friends is so positive.
This is a sweet story of second chances with a strong mental health rep, found family, and so much support!
Thank you to the author for providing me with an advanced digital copy in order to read and provide an honest review.
I loved the first book and was thrilled for receive an ARC for this one! Starting with the parts I thought were great. The parents and friends are all back in book two funny as ever! We also get to meet Eden’s grandparents in this one. Eden has a thriving art career and her close friends by her side. Just has advertised this one is a second chance because Sloane did in fact leave Eden. Sloane presenting as overly close to another friend just like in book 1 was annoying. She recognized in book one how bad it looked what she did with Keira then proceeded to do the same with Alex… I think that was my least favorite part of this story. Eden forgives to quickly and felt like kick to the teeth with how quickly she just shrugged off what Sloane did to her AGAIN. They just jump right back to dating when Sloane was supposed to be readjusting after everything that happened. Sloane dealing with a mental health crisis plays a big role in this book but sometimes it felt like she being careless or chaotic for no reason. Eden said she was over what happened with you and Alex, but then you want to be friends with that person again…the person that participated very actively in your mental health spiral and did not help you but kept trying to sleep with you…that’s not a friend! Sometimes it’s ok if the MC’s don’t get back together….I’d have rather followed them on a journey of meeting other people and remaining friends.
Also last thing Jenna is a small villain….keeping this secret from Eden because she’s friends with Sloane. Even if she didn’t divulge every detail she could’ve told Eden they still talked. Then for Jenna to start dating the person that physically assaulted her sister…you could not pay me to like Jenna.
I really can’t wait to see how the author wraps up this series. It truly is good and I’ll be purchasing the physical books once they are all released.

Run to You was a great follow up to the first book in the Love in Motion series, Walk with me.
The focus of the book is on the reunion between Sloane Bishop and her friends and ex, Eden Sawyer, after having ghosted them two years ago during a mental health crisis.
I really liked the way Sloane’s working through her challenges with severe anxiety was portrayed. The author took a lot of care to show how irrational yet real anxiety fears/worries can be, and the huge impacts it can have on a person’s life.
I also appreciated that this book delved a little bit further into each friend in the group in addition to Eden and Sloane. While I loved that the group was really willing and ready to forgive Sloane and welcome her back into their lives without question, I think there could have been a bit more of a slow building of trust with her and Eden. The conversation they have when Eden pushes pause on them having sex again for the first time was really important, and I would have liked to see a bit more of that kind of communication as they worked towards being together again.
Overall, Run to You is a tender second-chance love story with a whole lot of beautiful understanding, compassion, and unconditional love. If you haven’t already started, the Love in Motion series is well worth the read and I can’t wait to see where this friend group goes next (hopefully featuring more of Jenna’s new relationship 😬)
💗 Eden and Sloane are no longer in high school. They’ve finished college, taken different paths, and yet the love never really left. There’s history, unfinished feelings, and that undeniable sense they’re meant to find their way back. It’s endgame energy all the way, they just need to figure it out.
✨ Like the first book, the chemistry is so strong, but this time it’s deeper, messier, and yes… definitely spicier. Watching them navigate their way back to each other felt real and earned.
🌿 I love an easy, feel-good story, but this one also leans into real life. There’s uncertainty, growth, and finding your place. Add in second chances, supportive friendships, and some genuinely funny moments, and it’s such a satisfying read.💗 Eden and Sloane are no longer in high school. I have been given the opportunity to be an ARC reader for “Run to You” by Alison Root. This is the second book in the “Love Motion” series. Eden Sawyer is surviving and eventually coping just fine after Sloane Bishop asked for a break from their relationship two years ago. Then, of course, Sloan comes back home and suddenly Eden’s world is upside down again. Sloane on the other hand, has finished her studies and is not home to cause chaos. She is home to try rebuilding her life after totally losing it and then going for some serious counselling for her anxiety disorder. The question remains: Can the two of them sort out their feelings, especially with a third person from Sloane’s student days popping up again? I really loved the delicate way Sloane’s disorder is handled throughout the book, sensitive but clearly describing the issues coming with such a disorder and the influence it has on everyone. I found the degree of acceptance from both sets of parents of their lesbian daughters also refreshing, at least there was no angst from that corner. Run to You is a funny and sharp story with lots of sapphic tension. It delivers a second-chance, ex-girlfriend trope with a bit of chaos in between. If you like these types of stories, you will definitely enjoy this one! Thank you, Alison Root, for giving me the opportunity to read this book, I really enjoyed it tremendously!
If you've read Walk with Me then Run to You will suck you in even more. If you haven't, this is a good starting point to get hooked. Run to You is the second part of The Love in Motion series, but the books are written in such a way that they don't lose their charm if you read them in a jumble, because... well, Alyson Root knows how 😉. The series follows the adventures of two soulmates from high school to college and beyond. What I like about the plot is that it presents the stages of a very real relationship and the problems of some very real fictional people, with very real emotion all sprinkled with humor... Plenty. I guarantee you won't get bored with this pack of friends and their families by blood, fate and choice.
Sloane and Eden overcome their obstacles and grow before your eyes. Beautiful, sad, funny, cruel, tender and passionate - Alyson doesn't leave a blank page, she draws it in colour, sweat, tears and funny noises. It was a little hard for me to read about Sloane's struggles because her journey is also a personal memory awakening for me, but that only proves how good the book and the series are. My advice - jump headfirst into their world. Part 3 is lurking around the corner so get ready now 😁
Warning: Make sure you have enough snacks and tasty-unhealthy treats before you sit down with the book in your hand. You're welcome 😁
Two years ago Sloane asked to 'take a break' in their relationship and Eden hasn't heard from her since. Her friends are all pretty much 'dump her and move on.'
Sloane, after doing that, had a total breakdown. As it is she barely graduated, and now she's back home with her parents. After what she did the friend group cut her off, other than Jenna.
Eden get a surprise from her Agent, that a London gallery wants her for a show. On one hand she's happy, but it's also a big thing. She tells her family, then Jenna pulls her aside to tell her Sloane's back.
Sloane apologizes to Becca first as she'd known her longer, then Eden. Both go really well, and Eden is clearly willing to forgive. (They also literally ran into each other on a hiking trail, too.)
Becca and Bella are a thing, and Jenna is into their old nemesis Kiera. After talking Sloane and Eden decide to try dating... tho their first try gets interrupted by their friend Pia giving birth. As her parents are asses, Eden's parents take her in
Eden's grandparents also arrive, from England, and pitch in to help. All is not brightness, as Gran has breast cancer, and intends to have both removed as a precaution.
After some turmoil Eden asks to go back with them for the operation. Sloane soon follows, along with Becca and Belle.
3 out of 5 stars, as it annoyingly has no ending to this volume.

A heartfelt, emotional romance that stays with you long after the final page. Run To You by Alyson Root completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. The story strikes a perfect balance between emotional depth and hopeful romance, creating a journey that feels both raw and uplifting.
The characters are beautifully written and incredibly relatable—you can truly feel their struggles, growth, and connection. The chemistry between the leads feels genuine and unfolds in a way that’s both tender and believable, making it easy to root for them every step of the way.
What stood out most to me was the emotional honesty. Alyson Root doesn’t shy away from the harder moments, but instead uses them to build a story about healing, trust, and finding your way back to love—even when it feels impossible.
If you enjoy character-driven romance with heart, depth, and just the right amount of angst, Run To You is absolutely worth the read. I've read many books by this author and this one did not disappoint. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love how Alyson Root creates such witty, sarcastic, dry, and unexpectedly hilarious characters. Eden and Sloeane & her friends share a wonderful bond, and their conversations and banter often had me snorting with laughter. Here, the group comes back together once again—though, of course, not without the stress and anxiety surrounding disappointment, rejection, and the uncertainty of what the future holds. Mistakes are acknowledged, and life-altering moments are experienced together. It’s just real life—and I honestly found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions! That is exactly the kind of thing I love! So, life back in Holcroft is exciting; relationships are rekindled, yet everything feels absolutely new—especially for so many members of this wonderful community! Our two favorites, Eden and Sloane, grow close once again—yet in a new, hot, and exciting way! Thank you so much for the ARC. I’m already looking forward to the next installment!
Great introduction full of pace although I did wonder if Bella was a gremlin. The transition from high school to college with a friend group is always tricky, especially if Sloane is not keeping up with assignments. The angst is real and well written After graduation we realise Sloane has pushed all her friends away and returned home Such exciting news when Eden gets an art gallery showing in London. The picking up the pieces with friends after bouts of anxiety and depression is tenderly written. It was positive to attend a therapy session with Sloane .Alyson Root really shows the role of queer friends and wonderful parents. I'm still giggling at the sex dream. Here's to the anxiety sufferers of the world The baby scene should be full of anxious times but it's more about The Team Effort. Eden and Sloane's romance shifts from panic to being present in such a timely fashion. More excitement when the friends meet in London for the art exhibition So looking forward to Book 2 Thankyou for the opportunity to ARC
I was asked by Alyson Root to be a part of the ARC team for Run To You and below is my honest review.
Run To You is an emotional, heartfelt and hopeful romance story that I’ll be thinking about long after I’ve finished reading it.
It’s the second book in the Love In Motion series and Alyson has yet again written a beautiful read full of sapphic yearning. Sloane and Eden are brilliantly written and they captured my heart yet again.
In fact, all of the characters are so well written and bring life into the story. It was great to see characters from Walk With Me featured throughout, especially Gran - we love Gran, what an icon!
The story is realistic and there are difficult topics covered but I find they are handled sensitively. But with that in mind, if you have any content triggers, I advise you to check any trigger warnings beforehand.
I’m now impatiently waiting for the next book in August! 😂
I recommend this to anyone who loves a sapphic second chance romance filled with yearning.
I give this 5 stars!
Thank you Alyson for asking me to read and review!
This book has one of the best depictions of someone dealing with anxiety I've read. The story picks up four years after the happy-for-now ending of Walk With Me. Sloane has not so successfully been dealing with her anxiety since high school while Eden tries to make peace with the space now between them. As Sloane and Eden slowly take the time to get to know one another again, their relationship might get a second chance. The actions and interactions of the characters are true to life. This book has everything one comes to expect from Alyson Root - plenty of emotion, character depth, wit, and humor. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for Sloane, Eden, and their friends and family.

Great 2nd instalment in the Eden and Sloane story.
Sloan has battled crippling anxiety through college, pushing away her friends and Eden to the point where radio silence as become the norm. Sloane is finally back in her home town and hopes all is not list with her friends and Eden. But she hurt them badly, nearly as much as she hurt herself. Is she strong enough to build herself a life and career without falling back into destructive patterns.
Eden has been drifting since the love of her life asked for a break, 2 years ago, she has tried to move on but can't seem to find anyone that compares to Sloane. Eden has her art, family and friends and thats enough. How will she cope when she hears Sloane is back in town. Great story, good main and supporting characters. Well written.
This is Book 2 in a series. Read book 1 first - it's great. Book 2 is better though. We already know most of the characters having seen them graduate from high school. Now they have graduated from college and moved back to town. Some relationships have lasted, others have not, some are being carefully rekindled, some appear to be getting past their sell by date. There's some really nice, careful depictions of anxiety and mental health and some careful tiptoeing around making friends with characters that did not always behave well in the past. Needless to say this is a good read. It nicely meshes the English side of some of the characters with the American, and ends up with a bunch of them all in England. Book 3 comes out in August and I can't wait.
Sloane & Eden's story has absolutely everything, and is surprisingly low angst despite the anxiety induced college breakup. I especially loved their absolutely hilarious ride or die friends. Sloane shattered both her and Eden's heart when she broke off their relationship but she returns home determined to repair herself and maybe salvage a friendship. A really enjoyable funny, sweet, sexy romance about second chances and forgiveness.
Book 2 finds Eden and Sloan graduated from college but not together anymore. To find out why the breakup-please read but Alyson writes Sloan beautifully. Full of heartbreaking sadness and love-Sloan must find a way to win back the love of her life after making the hardest decision of her life after making the hardest decision of her life when she broke up with Eden. Eden was trying to live her life without Sloan but Eden realizes her life is meant to be lived with Sloan.

Alyson Root, you can drag tears from a stone! This story is endearing, full of angst, love, forgiveness and boy oh boy is it hot! These characters are so diverse it is hard to believe how well they fill in the story. I am so looking forward to their next book in the series.
The story features a friend group, found family, and enemies to acquaintances. Laughter, anxiety, triumph and hope fills the pages. Follow Eden and Sloane as they navigate college and long distance toward young adulthood, romance and new careers. Oh, leave room for spice and a little pooper! Enjoy the read.
This is the second book from The Love in Motion Series, the first was Walk with Me. I didn’t get the chance to read it ahead of time but that wasn’t a problem, from what I under stand it is Eden and Sloane’s story of when they fell in love in high school and I very much intend to read it. Book 3 in this series is set to release in August, The Pace of Us. I can not wait to read the next part in their story. Now, to what we are here for, Run to You. I loved every second of reading it. I didn’t want to put this book down, I read it very quickly. Eden and Sloane have made it through college and returned to their hometown, neither is aware the other is back in town to start. While reading this book we find out how family (Bio and Found) help bring them back together and support them while they reconnect. Eden and Sloane’s families are supportive of both of them and their friends. Their friend group is made up of their high school friends, they add comedy and chaos to the book and some peace to the MC’s lives. Sloane has anxiety and I appreciated how therapy and the ways she was working on managing it was handled in the book, so that she could start building her life again and that her family was there to support her but also respected her boundaries.
I really like the main characters and also their friends and families. Alyson Root is one of my favourite writers. Her characters have emotional depth and there’s always lots of witty banter. Looking forward to book 3.
