Now I’m not normally a fan of slow burns as I’m impatient & im just like “HURRY UP”, but I really enjoyed this, it was slow but such a quick, fun read.
I liked Beth from the jump and by the end I loved her. Chad was so cute. I had fun reading Beth bringing chad out his comfort zone and become more relaxed.
I’m so happy they got the ending they deserved.
I will definitely be reading more from this author
I can clearly say this is the best slow burns I've ever read. You can see that the author has progressed so much the more each book is released which I love. You can see and read the exact moment feelings start to slowly emerge. This may be new favourite main characters. Id definitely recommend this book and the other two books from the series
Title: Accepted Author: @authorlillianvex Releasing Date: 05/22/26 on Amazon and KU
The Book:
Chad has always been the dependable one-the best friend who shows up, the steady presence in everyone else’s chaos. But somewhere along the way, he learned to swallow his own wants, convinced he simply isn’t enough to deserve more.
Reconnecting with Beth stirs up everything he’s kept buried. She’s bold, impulsive, and unapologetically herself—a firecracker who demands passion and honesty in equal measure. Chad, a tightly wound finance bro who thrives on control, finds himself caught between who he thinks he should be and who he secretly wants to become. What begins as just friendship, turns into something neither of them expected. But wanting something doesn’t always mean knowing how to fight for it.
Can Chad step out of the shadows of self-doubt and finally believe he’s worthy of love? And can Beth wait long enough for him to figure it out?
My Thoughts: 💭
I absolutely loved this story! This was a fast-paced read that was full of wit and great banter. @authorlillianvex did a tremendous job with the character development and plot. The spice was 🥵. I’ll have to say that my favorite character was Beth. I loved her uninhibited brashness and audacious spontaneity. What I took away from this story was Beth’s ability to see through Chad for whom he was and for having the wits to bring him out of his shell.
@authorlillianvex I’m so very glad to have stumbled upon your page and for getting the opportunity to read Accepted. You definitely got smiles and laughter out of me with this story!
Overall, I loved Accepted and recommend it to all my bookish girlies Overall, I loved Accepted and recommend it to all my bookish girlies
STOP SCROLLING. I just found one of the absolute BEST romance books I’ve read so far this year. 😮💨❤️
If you want a book that will have you cheesing throughout the entirety of it, Accepted by Lillian Vex needs to be your next read. It is pure gold. 😭✨
Let’s talk about Chad and Beth because their growth is everything:
👉🏼 The Healing: I absolutely loved reading about Beth showing Chad that it is okay to be utterly his true self. She shows him that it’s okay to move on, and reminds him that he is so incredibly worthy of good and worthy of love. 🥺❤️
👉🏼 The Twist on the Confident Heroine: Beth is such a confident woman. But there were a couple of things Chad did that actually made her falter in that confidence... purely because she wasn’t expecting the sheer genuinenity and love he was giving her. Seeing a strong woman get completely disarmed by pure devotion? UNMATCHED.
Being able to watch both of their love grow for each other over time was so beautiful and it was just so very well written. 🤌🏼 It’s emotional, it’s beautiful, and it sets the bar high. If this isn't on your TBR yet, go change that right now. Trust me on this one.
👇🏼 Drop a ❤️ if this sounds like your kind of romance, or tell me: what’s the last book that made you smile like an absolute fool?
The way that Chad and Beth invaded my heart wasn't how I expected it to go. Right off the bat I liked Beth and as the story progressed I got to know why she was the way she was. Chady was fun to read and get inside his head. Man, he's wipped for her in the best way and I was secretly cheering him on. Lillian successfully kept me hooked while reading Acceptance and it wasn't one dull moment. I even tried to just binge it in one sitting but I had responsibilities (screw them haha)! Overall, the novella was fast paced, funny, charming, spicy, and really got me in the feels. Chad and Beth got the ending they deserved and I won't be ashamed to say I cried. I hope to read them again in the future (hoping that happens!) in like side stories or crossovers.
I am not one to always read soft, cozy slow burn romances but I really enjoyed this one. I still have yet to read books one and two in this series but I can tell I’m already loving Chad and Beth the most ♥️
I see myself a lot in Beth. Strong, upfront, and knows what she wants but when a had slowly enters into her life, she isn’t sure what to do or say anymore and it’s adorable to see the change in her and letting things just “happen”
Chad is adorable, sweet, and insecure in ways that weren’t his fault. He sees Beth as someone he wants to get close to but isn’t sure how to go by it. I loved seeing his change and building of his character and who he becomes by the end.
I REALLY hope we get more of these two because I’m obsessed 😍
Absolutely adored this book! Chad & beth’s chemistry was everything. The banter in this book is so good. I read the first two books and absolutely loved them. So I was ecstatic hearing about the third book being Chad’s story. Oh and It did not disappoint, I devoured this book in a day. this story is so beautifully written. I love the banter, the slow burn romance. ooh and the spice was spicy 🌶️. I also really loved everything about beths character!
Overall, I enjoyed this read so much! I highly recommend this book!!
His girlfriend left him for a woman and then her best friend showed up at the same bar. That's the setup. Chad is a mess. Beth is a Manhattan attorney with a Georgia accent she pretends she doesn't have. They have history through the ex. They have absolutely no business catching feelings for each other.
This is a SLOW burn. like genuinely slow. Halloween. Friendsgiving. New Year's in Times Square. a whole trip to Georgia. Beth writes actual Ground Rules, nine of them, signed by Beth Calloway, Esq. including rule nine which is no falling in love with me, finance bro. she really thought that was going to work.
The spice hits. She runs the show, tells him exactly what she wants, and he is a very good student. There's an office scene involving a glass desk that I am still thinking about. That's all I'm saying. What got me though was just how much these two idiots are in denial for so long. you're watching it happen in real time from both sides and you want to shake them both. The dual POV is doing everything it's supposed to do here.
The queer rep actually matters, Katie's whole love story with Alex runs parallel the entire book and it's genuinely beautiful. not background noise. real and full and it gets its own happy ending too.
I have loved Chad since Closeted. I enjoyed Beth and his dynamic on screen in Outed. I was thrilled he was getting his own book! So I hate leaving my honest review. It just wasn't for me and maybe it's also because I had high expectations.
I didn't like Beth and Chad just wasn't ready. She pushes hard, is demanding and I find that all super off putting. Yes it's a slow burn and eventually a little more depth is added to her, the dynamic, towards the end of the book but it still wasn't very convincing or satisfying for me personally. I would have loved more focus on Chad's depression.
With that being said it follows the timeline of the original series, another reason it feels like Chad isn't ready, but does make it feel part of that world. It is written well and his POVs are pretty great. All around it's a good book for those purely interested in a slow romance with nothing else really going on and like a stubborn independent woman.
Arc Read, I have been reading for this author since her first book, and ket me just say this one was the best. Her growth in writing is definitely growing. This book is an adorable slow burn and let me tell you the yearning was amazing. I love a good will they won't they. And the character development was also very good. The spice was spicy 😈 love a woman in charge
