So I liked some parts and the twist on the story was very interesting and I really liked it. But….. there were some parts that were just kinda creepy and I didn’t like Dane very much at all or the main girl. Plus they kept calling the goose satanic and demonic and I didn’t like that. Yeah kinda disappointed but I really liked the sister’s story.
3.5 stars, rounded up to four for Goodreads. I received this ebook arc in exchange for a honest review. This is an interesting retelling of the Goose Girl. It took me a bit to get into the story and I didn’t care for Dane at first. I didn’t love the way he was acting towards Emeline. He did worm his way into my heart about halfway through the story. I liked Emeline! Her and Dane were perfect for each other. The goose was hilarious and quite the character! I started to like the story more until I came up to a part at the end with her doll being a real person. It just was too weird and creeped me out. I didn’t care for that at all. Overall, it was a good story, just not my favorite by Abigail Manning.

I fell in love with the story of the Goose Girl when I read Shannon Hale's rendition several decades ago. I loved it more after reading Alice Ivinya's trilogy based on the same story. And now Abigail Manning has created another rendition that is every bit as exceptional.
Princess Emeline sets off to marry her foreign prince and have her own great adventure, but is constantly being chased into all sorts of mishaps by a goose who seems to be targeting her alone. One such mishap leads to her being separated from her servant before meeting the king and queen. Another leads to her meeting the kind and handsome farmland Dane. And while I know the original tale and trusted that things would turn out right in the end, there were enough twists and turns to keep me flipping pages.
My favorite part of the story was the banter between Emeline and Dane, each of whom had a delightful sense of humor. The story was also light and cozy in the best way. Sure, there was unrest among the working class, but no evil villain trying to take over the world. Just good people trying to do good for others, and those with power learning to use their voices on behalf of the oppressed. And learning to discern what is true and to speak truth.
I loved it. And I look forward to reading more of Abigail's books in the future.
I received an ARC from the author as part of Enchanting Confections series launch and have reviewed it freely.
ARC Review - A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries by Abigail Manning
Have a tissue close for this one. The twist in this story was unreal and left me heartbroken. But it’s such a sweet story that you love every moment.
At first I didn’t know how I felt about Corrine as soon as the reasoning became clear I felt bad for doubting her. But I also blame the original Goose Girl story. This was so well written and from a totally different perspective.
Princess Emaline is such a down to earth person and she took everything in stride. I really enjoyed her character and the fact that she has such an open mind.
Dane, what to say… he’s lovable in every way and evident in the book loved by all there as well.
I enjoyed the easy and flowing style of Abigail and who managed to write this story so well, including the twists you never see coming.
I highly recommend to readers who enjoys a clean sweet romance fairytale with a twist and happy ending.
Manning once again writes an incredible story that doesn't make me hate everyone by the end of it. I really struggle with goose girl retellings because of the betrayal aspect with the handmaiden taking her place. However, Manning found an incredible and believable way to make it all work without anyone being the true villain, a true feat with the original material. There was still a villain in all of this, a goose! Also in true Manning fashion, she figured out how to add some plot twists but in the sweetest way possible this time. I will probably read this one again in the future, it was a great story. The cameo from her sister was great too!
What a delightful and unexpected twist this story provides! While I had a sneaking suspicion about the hidden identity of one character, I was completely surprised by the revelation of the other’s identity at the end.
This story was heartwarming and sweet, and incredibly berry-pie filled which incidentally, has me craving pie.
Genre: Cozy fantasy, fairy tale retelling [of The Goose Girl] Tropes: Mistaken/hidden identity Setting: Fields, castle Writing style: 1st person, past tense Tone: Twisting Character- or plot-driven: Something of both
Romance: Yes Clean level: • 2 mouth kisses minimally described, 1 over one long sentence and 1 over a few sentences • 1 forehead kiss, one sentence • 1 fingers kiss • 1 instance of hand brushing neck and cheek, one paragraph • 1 instance of brushing noses • 1 instance of thumb brushing hand • 1 instances of reacting to touch, one paragraph • 2 instances of reacting to feel of breath against skin; 1 one sentence, 1 two *See caveats below
Sensitive aspects: • 2 instance of looking at lips, 1 including “craving taste” • “clearing my throat before I could embarrass myself even further with a dribble of drool” (while examining a man’s face) • “I’ve been itching to drink up that smile”
Favorite aspect of the book: Just enough action/conflict to drive the story while keeping it cozy
Thoughts on main characters: Emaline is pleasant and kind. Dane is overly dramatic at times, but in an unserious way. Though that’s not my thing, I liked him overall. He’s also deeply caring.
I enjoyed how the retelling followed the original tale in many ways while still having some twists. Based on who she is, you would expect the handmaid to be a good-faith actor, yet there’s still doubt because, what else could she be planning? There was a piece that I didn’t necessarily expect but wasn’t surprised by when it was revealed. The biggest twist was one I’m not fond of, so it was something of a letdown.
Favorite Quotations: • She twisted her hands together, her dainty fingers twisted up in each other like a model of the bundle of nerves she was fighting off. • “So that’s how you switch between Azriel and Dane,” I said, gazing out the window that had a perfect view of the rolling green fields.“I can’t say I truly switch between either of them.” He joined me by the window, propping his arm up against the frame as he leaned against the glass. “They’re both me, and I belong in both places. The people who grow our food deserve my attention as much as the people who sell and trade it.”

A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries was an amazing retelling of the Goose Girl with twists and turns, an identity swap, and an angry goose!
It’s going to be hard to talk about this book without spoiling it, but I’ll do my best.
I now understand why Abigail Manning is called the Queen of Plot Twists! The plot twist in this book was genuinely shocking. I was in public when I read the big twist and it took everything in me not to gasp out loud. I was completely shocked and I loved it so much! The twist was amazing and really brought a new side to the story.
I have read a few Goose Girl retellings, but this is probably my favorite! I loved the reason Emaline and Corrine switched places, and I just loved Corrine. In all the retellings the handmaiden was a bad person, but in this story, Corrine was so sweet and caring. I loved the friendship she had with Emaline, it was heartwarming and I loved this positive female friendship representation.
Emaline was such a great main character! She was sweet and caring of all around her, and she wasn’t opposed to doing hard work. There was a nice balance of her being strong and soft, it was very realistic and endeared her to me. She also listened to her friend and took her advice, which I appreciated.
I really liked Dane, too! He was so sweet and caring. I also loved how he cared about everyone. He is a total golden retriever MMC. He was also very loyal to the princess, which was sweet, but also a little frustrating at times because of the identity swap.
Dane and Emaline had such a cute relationship! She was smitten with him from the beginning, which was super cute. They began as friends and grew into something more, but there was also the identity swap which confused things a little. But they were so cute together, and I loved all their little moments together!
I loved how the goose was incorporated into the story! It was super unique and interesting. He was such a lovely addition to the story, and his antics brought some levity to the story!
This book was very cozy, but it also explored some heavy themes. It explored slavery in a really unique way. There was a nice balance between exploring this and the romance and other parts of the book, so it was easier to digest. I loved how this was explored and how it was woven into the world, showing the consequences and harsh realities of slavery. I also really liked how this storyline ended, with slavery being abolished.
A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries is a cozy Goose Girl retelling with romance, twists, and an identity swap!
A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries releases on May 8th, 2026.
Content Warnings: Being terrorized by an angry goose, lying/gaslighting, slavery, attempted murder
Thank you to Abigail Manning for sending me this book for review. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own. This book was absolutely adorable! It was the perfect cozy and charming novella.
Princess Emaline and her handmaid, Corrine, are on their way to Goslose to introduce the princess to her betrothed. When they make a quick stop before reaching the castle, a very agitated goose chases Emaline into a muddy field and steals her crown. After being saved by the handsome farmhand, Dane, Emaline is an absolute mess and unpresentable to the king and queen. When Corrine tries to explain the situation, she's mistaken for the princess. Then when Emaline tries to leave the carriage the goose is out for revenge and chases her into a berry field. There she is mistaken for one of the maids and forced to work in the fields. Will she ever get back her princess life, or will she be forced to pick berries and constantly be terrorized by a crazed goose?
While this book does touch on some heavy topics, the themes are still kept lighthearted enough, so there's still a cozy atmosphere. The romance was so sweet. I was giggling and kicking my feet just like when Dane was crushing over the princess! Also, per usual with an Abigail Manning book, there's always a plot twist. I was thinking of everything that it could be and still didn't see it coming. It was such a heartwarming ending, make sure to have a box of tissues!
My only gripe was that I wish the book was longer so we could see more interactions between Dane, Emaline, and Corrine. But honestly, it really is just the perfect sweet book for spring!
This was such an amazing Goose Girl retelling! Every twist surprised and shocked me, especially the final reveal! I was skeptical of Corrine at first, but she truly only wanted to protect Princess Emaline, no matter the cost. I loved how Dane always looked out for the worker's well-being and how he treated them. I felt bad for Emaline being made to work in the fields, but she got to see the mistreatment firsthand. I enjoyed watching Dane and Emaline slowly fall for each other even though they weren't trying, and he thought his affections belonged elsewhere. I was so emotionally invested in the story that I sobbed through the last four chapters. I highly recommend this fantasy novella if you like hidden identities, a touch of magic, and a slow-burn no-spice romance!
It's finally time for Princess Emaline to meet her betrothed, Prince Azriel, now that his kingdom has made agreements with their workers and the political upsets are resolved. However, when arriving in Goslose, a crazed goose chases her into a muddy mess where she meets Dane, a handsome worker who helps her. When her new handmaiden, Corrine, tries to explain the situation to the royals, they won't let her get a word in, and they think she's the princess. Meanwhile, the true princess is mistaken for a field worker and later learns that Corrine continues the facade. Will Emaline find a way to reclaim her identity before it goes too far?
I received an Advanced Reader Copy with no expectation of a review. All opinions are my own.
A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries went a completely different direction than I expected, and I am here for it! Instead of the nefarious handmaiden, Emaline and Corrine switch by accident. Emaline handles the situation reasonably well despite being forced into slavery. The kingdom is really in dire straights. The situation Emaline walks into is almost unbelievably bad. No wonder the conflict between the noble and working classes is so bad with the way the landlords can capture anyone and force them into slavery.
The characters are great. Love the goose. Emaline carries the story with her problem-solving skills, adaptability, and willingness to see the good in people. Dane is a wonderful guy, determined to make a difference and see people's humanity no matter their socioeconomic status. His determination to make the best out of any circumstance matches perfectly with Emaline's. Their interactions always brought a smile to my face with their banter and connection. The king and queen's apologies to Emaline for the mistake in identities seemed a little less robust than they should have been, but oh well. Who ever gets the apologies they want?
Clean in language and content, A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries mixes social commentary with a classic fairytale to put a new spin on an old tale. 4.5 stars - a few twists and circumstances felt a little unbelievable even for a fairytale retelling. I recommend this book to readers who are eager for a new take on Goose Girl and hint of mystery.
I honestly don’t have enough words to describe how much I loved this book! I picked it up, intending to read just the first chapter, and didn’t come up for air until the very last page. It has been a very long time since a book absolutely consumed me like this one did.
The plot? Utterly gripping. It is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, twists, and turns that I truly did not see coming. The pacing is absolutely flawless—it keeps you on the edge of your seat from page one and never lets go.
The characters? They feel real. I love it when I find a story where I care this deeply for the characters (and maybe loved to hate a few, too). Their development is on point, their dialogue is sharp, and their emotional journeys are so raw and authentic that I honestly felt like I was living right alongside them.
The writing? Pure magic. The author, the Plot Twist Queen herself, has this incredible ability to paint a scene with words, making the world-building so immersive and the emotional scenes so poignant.
Final Verdict: It is a stunning work of art! If you are looking for a story that will make you laugh, cry, and be left reeling, this one is for you. I already cannot wait to re-read it!
ARC Review, all thoughts are my own honest opinion
I LOVED this Goose Girl Retelling and it has become my new favorite retelling of this story! Both Princess Emaline & her handmaiden Corrine are wonderful characters and I liked that the handmaiden isn't the villain in this story but that she is acting out of concern for Emaline's safety and they have a sincere and caring relationship between them. The goose in this story is also a great trouble maker that creates a lot of at times amusing problems for Emaline. I also really enjoyed getting to know the character Dane and his interactions with Emaline while she was a servant. The last chapter of the story was really sweet and wrapped things up on such a wonderful note. I haven't read Burning Snow: A Retelling of The Little Match Girl & The Snow Queen about Safara (Emaline's younger sister) but it is on my TBR List.
Steam Rating: Glimpses and Kisses
I received a free advanced reader copy of this book from the Enchanting Confections ARC Team and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries Enchanting Confections By Abigail Manning
First off this is an adorable book! I absolutely loved the Goose Girl twist. Princess Emaline is finally going to get to meet her betrothed and get married.
But her journey finds a tag-along goose hitching a ride on the top of her carriage. This is just the first oddity in her whole trip. And when she has a mishap with a mud puddle, she is unfit to meet the king and queen (aka her future in-laws). Whoops! Then one thing leads to another and a lack of listening finds Emaline and her handmaid Corrine switching places in a case of mistaken identity.
Can Emaline find a way out of this mess she finds herself in? Who heard of a princess working as a field laborer? Yet Emaline finds herself in just such a role, but with the help of a fellow farmhand named Dane she at least has a few hours in the castle, not that it helps her regain her identity.
This was the perfect weekend read. Fun and entertaining and perfect for most readers (I'm thinking 10+ would enjoy it). Even better there are no Grimm attributes to make this a scary read, just a disgruntled goose.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts expressed are my own.
I received an ARC of A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries in exchange for an honest review. I finished this book in one setting! Abigail Manning is one of my favorite authors of all time and she her books have so far never disappointed. I wish i could talk about the spoilers for they were “oh so good” but I don’t wish to ruin for other readers so I will stay quiet on them. I will say this novella is a fantastic retelling of The Goose Girl and a wonderful beginning start to the Enchanting Confections multi-author series. Princess Emaline and Dane are a great couple and the plot line kept me on the edge of my seat (especially involving a certain lady in waiting). I can’t wait to read Safara’s story which was actually released and set before this novella but don’t worry readers can start with this book if you want. I look forward to reading more books by Abigail Manning and trying the other entries of the Enchanting Confections series! Also if you’re looking for more Goose Girl retellings Abigail Manning also wrote the Itsy Bitsy Liar (book one in her Once Upon A Rhyme series) which is just as good.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author; all opinions are my own.
Ok, so I just finished reading A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries, and I don't know what to say. Well, first, all you have to read it, it was such a fun, sweet, and cozy read! I loved it! Seriously, if you haven't tried Abigail Manning books before, I highly recommend this one to start with.
All her books are so good, and this one didn't disappoint. The twist at the end was so good, and also, the goose...How I loved and hated the goose... The plot was really good, I loved the twist on the Goose Girl fairytale, and again, the goose. You have to read this book. Even if it's just for the goose 😂.
Also, I loved the ending, like, the ending was so good. So satisfying and also hilarious! Again, I really recommend this book, and I hope you end up reading it.
Content> Violence: No violence (unless you count being attacked by a goose as violence) Romance: This is a very sweet and clean book; kisses only. Language: No bad language as far as I can remember.
So many tears! Tears of beauty and sadness, tears of joy.
I’ve said it before and I know I’ll say it again, but I tend to despise Goose Girl retellings. It’s no wonder Mary Mecham and Abigail Manning are such good friends, though. They are both masters of story craft and I will read anything they write, even a retelling of a fairytale I normally can’t stand. I have loved both of their Goose Girl stories…for very different reasons.
Suffice it to say that A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries gets about as close to perfection as a book can get for me. It was a delightful blend of no spice romance with the plot twisting in ways I didn’t expect. Even though I thought I knew what I was getting into, I didn’t.
Beautiful. Excellent. Entrancing. Page-turning. I could describe this book in about as many positive adjectives as I could think of. This is the perfect novella for a quick-read pick-me-up.
💎 This was an early copy, obviously. But I was not requested to write a review, and these thoughts are all my own because I want everyone to make sure to read this gem. 😉💎
Abigail did it again! No matter how much I think I might know might happen in one of her stories, I’m always wrong. And THIS is why I love her books so much. I never know what to expect. And, this was exceptionally fun to read, because I read the paperback version. 🥰
While this story is a retelling of The Goose Girl, it is vastly different than the original. I fell in love with Princess Emaline and Dane! This story had such a cozy feeling even if when dealing with a few tough subjects. I have no idea why her purple gingham dress made me smile so much, but it did. The world she created in Goslose was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It felt like a place I would love to go berry picking, as long as I was free to leave. 😊 This was such a sweet and tender romance that still caused a few tears. Not only does this story show romance, but it also shows love made of trust and loyalty. It’s hard to say much more without giving it away, so you’ll have to just read it. 😊
I received this as an ARC book; however, the thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was my first by Abigail and it was such a good story! I will definitely be reading more of her books once I get my hands on them. This whole tale was so cozy. Even though Emaline was forced into servanthood because of a series of misunderstandings, she wasn't horribly mistreated and it ended up being for her good. There was some danger, but the story was overall relaxing. I loved Emaline's interactions with Dane. It was so sweet that he actually listened to her when no one else would. Having read a few "A Goose Girl" retellings recently, the truth about Dane was rather expected on my end, but I still very much enjoyed the journey leading up to the revelation. The crazy goose gave the story several funny and intense moments. I loved how the goose and the maid were tied to Emaline. Be sure to pick this one up if you like cozy, clean fairytale retellings with a dash of romance!
Thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I was so excited to receive an ARC copy of this book from Abigail Manning. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This story was so cute and cozy. I like the twist that Abigail provided on the original. It was very unique and really made this novella a stand out in the collection of goose girl fairytale retellings.
Burning Snow is my favorite book by Abigail Manning and this was a very nice addition to the world. Emmeline is the FMCs sister and this the story of her betrothal.
Emmeline goes through quite a bit in this story and still manages to be sweet, kind, and humble. She is a truly likable heroine!
The MMC is a complete sweetheart, golden retriever MMC. He has a big heart that matches her and they just seem like the type of people you would want to be around if they were real.
This story has it all: humor, drama, and swoony romance. If you are a fan of fairytale retellings, I highly recommend you try it. It is short and sweet, but doesn't lack plot or romance.
Oh my goodness! There is a reason I've loved every Abigail Manning book that I've read, and this book delivered!
First of all, this is an incredibly fresh take on the Goose Girl fairytale! The worldbuilding was rich, the characters were believable, and there still managed to be a happy ending.
After an unfortunate run in with a goose and a case of serious mistaken identities leads to our FMC working as a slave, she learns the truth about the kingdom she's supposed to end up in. With help from the MMC, she's able to uncover plenty of things, and let me just say: the MMC is very swoony! Incredibly loyal, brave, and caring about others. The ending ties things up so nicely, and it is completely satisfying.
Also, this book made me cry... over a doll. IYKYK. But if you love stories with a bit of angst while still having a happy ending, all without spice, then this book is going to be a great fit for you!
I love me a good Goose Girl retelling, and boy did Abigail Manning hit the mark and then some! This is the Goose Girl fairytale turned on its head in the best way possible. Do we have mistaken identities? Yes, yes we do. A crazy goose? That's an affirmative. Political unrest? Yuppers, there's that as well. But now, let's talk about plot twists. Because the plot twists are the twistiest, and since this is an Abigail Manning book, I expect nothing less. But! Not only are they twisty, they're positively brimming with complete unexpectedness as well. I didn't see it coming until just before the reveal! Talk about masterfully done! And I loved the banter, humor, and romantic build up. Honestly, this is now my favorite Goose Girl retelling that I've read, and that's saying something because I've read a few really good ones. Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this book--absolutely adored it!
This book was a nice sweet read. I found myself flying through it one second I was at 10% and the next I was at 70%.
Dane and Emaline were a sweet pair.
Corrine had me questioning her motives at first but once you learn all the details you understand.
Dane was an interesting character and I was wondering about his obsession with the princess when she was betrothed to the prince so he was setting himself up for heartbreak.
Emaline was so out of her element but she made it work. It ended up helping her in the end.
I loved the “evil” goose who had it out for Emaline. Makes me think of a duck I had when I was little that would always chase me around because he knew I was a little afraid of him.
I loved the twists with this story because I wasn’t expecting them. I had a suspicion about the twist with the prince and that is all I will say.
Overall I really liked this book. It was a fun shorter read. I read this book as an arc.
I received an ARC of this book and really enjoyed it. Set after the events of Burning Snow, we follow the story of Safara’s older sister Princess Emaline who is goes to the meet her betrothed the Crown Prince of Goslose. However, due to an evil goose and a misunderstanding her lady’s maid ends up taking her place while she is forced to work as a gooseberry girl/cupbearer. What’s even worse is that no one believes she is the real princess. The only one who can help her is handsome farmer named Dane who is head over heels for the “Princess.” Unfortunately, Emaline also ends up falling for him when she is already betrothed! I loved the baking and the sweet romance in the book, as well as was shocked by the unexpected twist near the end! This was truly a great read and I definitely recommend it to those thinking of getting it.
A Goblet of Guises and Gooseberries by Abigail Manning Tasked with making the gooseberry wine for her own table, can Emaline reclaim her crown? This one is literally so cute! One of my favorite Goose Girl retellings that I've come across! And a nice fresh spin on it too. Abigail does an amazing job of packing a whole complicated storyline into a small package! Impressive to have such in-depth characters in such a short time period. I especially loved Dane's and Emaline's relationship! And all the goose scenes were just so fun. An awesome start to this multi-author series! Would highly recommend! Genre: Fairytale retelling (no spice) Standalone in Enchanting Confections Favorite character: Dane (MMC) Favorite scene: Solving the poison mystery
ARC (will be published May 8, all opinions are my own)
Oh, I loved this Goose Girl retelling! After a year of waiting, Princess Emaline is finally on her way to meet her betrothed. Her new, sweet maid is the perfect companion, but the goose hitching a ride on the carriage leaves one wondering about his mental state. When that same goose attacks Emaline during a brief break, and it lands her in a large mud puddle, the easy course takes an interesting turn. A handsome farmhand, a simple plan gone horribly wrong, and a kingdom full of angry citizens, are not enough to stop Emaline from claiming what is rightfully hers. If only the vengeful goose would leave her alone, and the farmhand wasn’t so kind, and her handmaiden wasn’t so, well, you’ll just have to read it! For those who know the original story, please note that no horses were harmed in the making of this story. I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.
♾️/ 5⭐️ I loved this book SO much, it’s an amazing start to this series and I’m so excited to read the rest! Fairytale retellings are some of my absolute favourite types of books and I loved the authors twist on the Goose Girl story. The characters have so much personality and I loved Emaline and Dane as the main characters! The banter between them was one of my favourite parts of this whole book as it made this such a fun read and I loved it any time they’d interact! I loved the side characters too and loved Emaline’s friendship with Lienna. The whole situation with the goose was hilarious and I loved that I didn’t see the twists coming and didn’t know which way it would go at times! I love how easy the authors writing is to read and also how visual it is as it makes the book really immersive and full of pure fairytale escapism. This was a super fun, cozy read and one I’ll definitely read again! It had everything I love in fairytale retellings and I’d 100% recommend it!
*I received an ARC copy from the author but all thoughts and opinions are my own :)
This was truly the cutest little retelling of The Goose Girl. The Goose Girl is one of my favorite fairytales and I love what Abigail did with the story. Because I am so familiar with the tale, I was so mistrusting of certain characters, but the plot twists that Abigail added were incredibly sweet and surprising. The story has a wonderful moral lesson and we cant forget a wonderful and humble princess, Emaline, a golden retriever prince, and a psychopathic goose lol! If you are looking for a clean (clean romance and clean language) retelling of The Goose Girl with a sweet love story, then this is the book for you!
I loved this Goose Girl retelling so much! I'm usually not a fan of Goose Girl retellings, but Abigail Manning retold this fairy tale so masterfully! The characters were well-developed and likeable, the writing was intriguing and enticing, and the plot was very different from what I was expecting. Although the story follows the original storyline of the Goose Girl, there were a lot of plot twists that took me by surprise. And that plot twist at the end...? It was AWESOME!! I was definitely not expecting that! Overall, this was a really sweet, short novella, and I loved it so much!!!
Disclaimer: I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the author. I was not required to leave a review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
This was my first book by Abigail Manning and I was pleasantly surprised! I don’t know the story of the Goose girl, so I went into this with no expectations.
I finished this book so quickly, it was a lovely blend of sweetness, mystery (not murder mystery), romance, twists, and just a bit of magic.
No spoilers, but there were a couple very unexpected twists and a moment where I was really unsure what direction the story was going. It kept me on my toes and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
I read this as an ARC, but my review is completely voluntary and my own honest thoughts.
