If you would like to go back in time, you will love this book. Involuntarily, the protagonist is hurled through time and lands in a time and place in which his ways and manner of speaking are as foreign to his neighbors as theirs are to him. He falls in love with a woman not of his time, and when he thinks he has found a way to return to his time, she refuses to leave her ailing father to join him. Therefore, he must choose between her and the carefree life of luxury he had once known. The story takes place in a coal mining town, and the reader gets a good sense of what life is like in and around the mines.

A Distant Echo

I love time travel and thus was no exception. Should you change history or not. Especially when it involves people you care about.

Excellence!

I have read the first book and now the second. This series, this author, hands down is the BEST I have read since Outlander. The only difference Between the each author and books are this author had less pages, less sex and a few more grammar and spelling mistakes.

With that said, those mistakes in no way took away from the story line. Extremely believable. Extremely intense. Extremely hot!

I read a book a day because of my health status. My time is valuable, or should I say, EXTREMELY SHORT.
I have been craving what this author is offering. If there were six stars to offer, this series would be the first in Ten years to get them. Writing this review is making me itchy for the next and final book.

If you love romance, adventure, heros, and rule breaking, but need a little bit of conformity mixed in, HERE IS YOUR HUCKLEBERRY.

Please edit!! The ending is revealed 7 chapters too soon!

The last chapter is inexplicably repeated and inserted at chapter 31. This completely throws off the flow of the plot and indeed made me so mad I almost quit reading at that point, but then the chapter picked right up where it should have and the rest of the events were a bit anti climactic because I already knew the ending and was just filing thru the motions and still running my head in confusion as to why ch.31 was placed there. ...as a foreshadowing? If so, it had too much detail and forced us to make too many assumptions when the real plot is just waiting to be revealed.

Lots of fun. An eye opening introduction to a different part of Canada.

I had never heard if Jackson Slide. As an Alaskan, I have certainly passed through the area, but never taken the time to see what was there and to learn anything about the history. Louis L Amour used to say that he had walked where he set his stories and that readers would find water where he said there was water, etc. I have confidence that Bobby Hutchinson has followed that standard in this book at least.

Some minor proof reading errors. Double entry of the forward, wrong word substitution ( A continuity issue with the "taste of sunlight") all very minor, but worthy of repair.

I always enjoy this kind of time travel story. Bobby Hutchinson is particularly good at writing them. I find it interesting to read the author's take on how characters react to finding themselves in the past, since I first read the first Outlander book, by Diana Gabaldon. The characters in this book do not disappoint. It's an engaging story that I didn't want to put down until the end. Plus, it is nice and complete - no questions hanging on in the reader's mind, which is something I detest. Maybe an epilogue would have been good, but I recommend this book to fans of time travel with romance but not steamy sex scenes

A Distant Echo

To, Chapman and Jackson Zalco were treasure hunters. That was how they became wealthy. Now they were looking for the gold buried under the slide of a mountain that had also had buried part of the town of Frank. Watching a movie about the slide gave a terrible loud sound and then they were in 1903 from 1970. One year before the slide was to happen. Both men fell in love and Jackson took his woman back to the future as Tom stayed behind with his.

I enjoy historical books

An interesting story and well worth the time to read. I was even able to get past the typos and errors. Tom and Jackson's adventure was exciting. It truly would be hard to persuade people of a coming disaster, and so frustrating. The tale was well written on this account.

Great storyteller

Great storyteller....Bobby Hutchinson. In the tradition of a true story you can't wait for the conclusion but, don't want the story to end.

Okay

Great characters. The author did use the Lords name in vain which I did not appreciate, it was not necessary and took awAy from the story.

Given to me for an honest review. 5 stars isn't enough for this book. It's been a while since I've been so engrossed in a book. There is an editing problem. There is no division between chapters that makes the book look like one chapter. Tom and Jackson are treasure hunters and are looking for gold bars that were stolen from a train and buried. They think Ms Lawrence might have some diaries her father wrote about the gold. She thinks Tom and his partner should visit the Interpretive Center to see what the town of Frank before and after the Slide. It is the day before the anniversary of the Slide that buried part of the town and the mine in 1903. They go and look and then watch a movie showing what happened that day. The room becomes dark and then a single rock rolls down the mountain. Then the noise starts. It is so loud Tom is going to leave but he fell and woke up on a chilly mountain. He located his friend. They looked around. No Interpretive Center, no truck, and the mountain looked a little strange. Was it an explosion that blew them a ways from the Center? As they walked, they aren't reassured by what they are seeing. Where are they?

Awesome story

This book had me from the very beginning. Bobby Hutchinson is a wonderful story teller. The guys get thrown back in time when you didn't expect it and the adventure never stopped. I laughed, cried, wanted to bash some of the men over their heads and was on the edge of my seat up to the last page. I won't forget this story since it made me feel like I was right there living it along side of them. I loved all the characters and have mixed feelings on the ending. Happy, sad, joyful and wishful. I'd love to see a second book written to carry on this story. It really was wonderful

I liked this story although it was predictable. It was nice to have a man write a romantic novel.

The plot was well thought out and presented in a timely manner. The love sequences were marvelous. It was fun and provocative at the same time. He definitely turned me on. A good read.

The time travel idea not much clever but great characters, humour, admirable knowledge of old mining towns and environment, female position and rights a century ago captured, liked the way the author compares today's female fashion and fashion a century ago through the male perspective.

Heartfelt Story

This a love story, true, but with a historical twist. It shows how love can come in any time and end anywhere. As one couple moves forward and one moves back. And all the twists and turns come out with the right ending. Well worth reading.
