If He Finds Out: Desire, Shame, and Control

DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE.
What you are about to hear on the other side is enough to tear down everything a person has ever built. It is the call that connects every secret, every lie, every person who thought they were safe. One conversation. One truth. And nothing that follows will ever be the same.

Malik Edwards spent his entire life controlling the narrative of what people saw, knew, and were allowed to question. For years it worked and discretion became his strength. The perfect family. The respectable career. And an image that people admired everywhere. But he made a mistake and now the walls he constructed so carefully are beginning to crack from every direction at once. One by one he is finding out the people he convinced to trust him are the ones holding the hammer.

The phone rang. Someone answered. And the only thing left now is the wreckage.

This is probably the best book of the trilogy with the plot twists in my opinion. While book 1 and 2 are good from the various POV's this book explains so much and takes you on a ride you'll never forget.

Malik is one sick guy and some might strongly dislike him after this book. However, the story tells us a different perspective about him which might change the "why" in the decision. The book and trilogy in itself is brilliantly written and very hard to pull off in my opinion.

There are so many "moments" in this book that it constantly hooks you throughout. All I will say is Kevin and Malik are something serious. Then to watch the betrayal formalize in the ending is like watching a movie that your friend has to shake you because it ended so crazy. You just want one more page because there are so many questions still left unanswered while you're not incomplete.

Psychologically, you're like what happened? But emotionally, you know why. Masterful!

I gave this book 5-stars without hesitation because I couldn't stop reading the book. It was so freaking relatable.

Fascinating read. It takes the reader on a journey to understand and answer one particular question: Why do ordinary people make unordinary decisions?

Malik is a mastermind of choices and has learned how to control the narrative for his own personal gain. But...he forgot one critical element. His decisions have consequences too.

The book explores the nuances of characters, people who look and talk like we do, but carry hidden secrets that ultimately impact those who are in our circles.

A very interesting read and perspective.

The book is written in a manner that is psychologically layered, but not suspensefully jarring. It leaves you with "this really could happen" versus "I wonder if this could happen" type of feeling and that's the terrifying part and shock of it all.

Highly recommend the book. 5-stars in my book.

I don't even know what to say about how I feel after reading this book. I was rooting for the MC. I hope I never have to understand what it's like to hide part of myself. But the real hero is Hillary in my opinion. I definitely will carry this book with me. I really liked West's writing style and how they through in some humor along the way.

This was a really gripping read that kept me on the edge of my seat! The tension and suspense were incredibly well-built, and I found myself constantly wondering what would happen next. The characters were complex and the storyline was intense, making it a very engaging experience. While some parts felt a little fast-paced, it was a thrilling and memorable book overall.
