Morgan is a born and raised Jersey girl, living there with her two boys, toddler daughter, and mechanic husband. She’s addicted to iced espresso, barbecue chips, and Starburst jellybeans. She usually has headphones on, listening to some spicy audiobook or Taylor Swift. There is rarely an in between.

Writing has been her calling for as long as she can remember. There’s a framed ‘page one’ of a book she wrote at seven hanging in her childhood home to prove the point. Her entire life she’s crafted stories in her mind, begging to be released but it wasn’t until recently she finally gave them the reigns.

This might actually be my favorite Morgan Elizabeth book! It was so so good and the banter, chemistry and tension between Lana and Roman is amazing! The way this man loves her and is always there for her just made me love him so so much more.

My Thoughts: Maneater is one of my favorite books of all time, so I was very eager for Heartbreaker. And once again, Morgan has knocked this one out of the park. Lana was such a bad ass FMC, and I loved watching her journey finding herself in this new world she stepped into. I loved Lana’s role as not only a spy, but also as she became a role model for women and girls everywhere who want to step into a male dominated field.

Roman had a lot of growth in this book. In the first few chapters, he was very much being presented as the bad boy, and I immediately saw many red flags. But over time, his walls came down and we got to know the true Roman. Once he came out of his shell, I fell in love with him. I loved his protective side when it came to Lana, and the way he gave her a safe space to find out who she really was. He encouraged her to keep going with Monster Smash and helped her realize that she could make a huge difference in this industry and for women in sports in general.

The banter between the two was on fire! I truly think Morgan Elizabeth does banter like no one else. She had me laughing out loud from the very beginning. Lana had such a quick tongue and I was constantly giggling at the things she said.

Definitely pick this one up! You do not need to read Maneater first to enjoy this story, but I highly recommend you do because it will give you a great overview of who The Mavens are.

I was so sucked in and captivated by this story & these characters!! Another absolute hit by Morgan Elizabeth!! Enemies to lovers, sports romance, grumpy x sunshine, and romantic suspense! This one had me loving every second!!

I absolutely love a story with a bad ass FMC & Lana is just that! She has spent her life changing to fit in & putting herself on the back burner. As a Maven (undercover) her new mission puts her as a woman in Monster Mash, driving a monster truck & competing with the boys. Roman is our bad boy pro racer, who has had some rough moments & Lana’s new mission is to help figure out who is creating all his problems.

Together these two have banter, chemistry, and absolute tension that has you wanting more & more from them!! The way he continues to show up for her & by her side, pushing her to be who she is & giving her a safe space to do what she loves, just tugged at my heartstrings!! Lana is just as lovable, seeing through his facade and noticing the real Roman underneath.

I absolutely loved seeing how much these two opened up together & just gave the comfort to be their true selves!! This entire book was fun, filled with hilarious moments, spice, and added suspense & twists that just made this one so hard to put down!! Highly recommend!!

never thought i'd find a romance about two monster truck drivers falling in love on my bingo card, but i’m glad i did. i had such a blast reading about lana and roman!! the monster truck and racing made for a fun and unique setting, and the undercover aspect added a bit of a thrill to the otherwise heartwarming and steamy romance that morgan is so known and loved for.

if you're in the mood for a romance unlike any you've read before, still with all the banter, heart and spice - this one's perfect!

first monster truck driver romance??

I was able to ARC read this and it was a fun read and actually made me want to want to watch a monster truck race? I think Maneater is still my favorite of this series so far though. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the couple in this book, and I think the setup that the Mavens isn’t a forever job could’ve been worked on a little more. However monster truck drivers are still cool and I’m all for women dominating in formerly male dominating fields. As for the couple they were cute however I didn’t agree with Roman’s actions a lot of the time.

I’m a huge fan of The Mavens as a concept - so I was very intrigued to read Heartbreaker. While the mmc wasn’t my favourite, I did thoroughly enjoy the monster truck vibes & being a woman in a male dominated field (relatable). As always, Morgan Elizabeth did deliver on the mystery aspect (and that’s what I was here for anyways). Very eager to see more books in The Mavens series - whilst also wondering if they still take applications?

Not only is Morgan an "immediate read author" for me but when I seen the tropes for Heartbreaker I was swooning. A girl monster truck driver who is secretly a spy? HOW CAN YOU NOT WANT TO PICK THIS UP?!

Morgan did it again. She pulls you in and makes you so invested in not only the couple but her side characters. Lana & Roman were fun and spunky. She knows how to write these romantic suspense books. By the end of the book, I was like "YASSSS GIRL YOU GO".

Monster truck romance is a sports genre I didn't know I needed in my life! This book was so fun and unique! I love the undercover spy aspect along with the underline mystery. Lana is such a baddie and I want to be her best friend! I love the banter between her and Rome! The chemistry, banter, heat was all there between these two. I love how comfortable these two were with each other and were able to just be who they are!

I'm rarely surprised when I fall head over heels for a Morgan Elizabeth book, but I was a little worried the Monster Truck racing of it all would not catch my interest - boy was I wrong!
Lana and Roman are amazing, Roman is the reforming bad boy of all book lovers dreams and I love Lana's confidence and wit!

Morgan Elizabeth delivered a story that was so much more than romance—it was about the masks we wear for the world and the courage it takes to finally let them fall.

Lana, an undercover investigator with The Mavens, is sent to Monster Smash to uncover who is behind the sabotage targeting Rome DeLuca. She’s used to changing herself to fit in, making herself smaller so she’ll be accepted, and being underestimated by the people around her. But underneath that carefully curated persona is a woman who knows exactly who she is, and I loved watching her find the confidence to stop hiding behind the version of herself she thought everyone wanted and find her true self.

Rome is dealing with his own carefully constructed image. After he's suspended from IndyCar racing, he’s determined to rehabilitate his reputation and prove he’s changed so he can return to the sport he loves. He’s built a cocky, bad-boy persona, but Lana sees through the facade almost immediately. His frustration, fear, and vulnerability made his journey just as compelling as Lana’s.

These two have chemistry and tension in spades. Rome deliberately pushes Lana’s buttons to keep his distance, leading to plenty of bickering and entertaining moments, but beneath all that friction is an undeniable connection. Rome is also a bit of a hothead, especially when his frustration and anger get the better of him, but Lana has a way of calming him that few others can. She sees beyond his anger and bravado, knows when to push him, and when to simply be there for him. Their dynamic made their connection even more compelling because they balanced each other so well.

What I appreciated most was the character growth. Lana and Rome are complicated characters with complex issues, insecurities, and defenses, and neither of them is magically fixed by falling in love. They have to confront the things holding them back, and I loved watching them grow individually while learning how to support and challenge each other.

Heartbreaker was a compelling romance filled with secrets, sabotage, chemistry, humor, and heart. Morgan Elizabeth created two characters who were easy to root for as they learned that they didn't have to keep performing for everyone else—and that sometimes the person who truly sees you is the one who helps you become the best version of yourself.

I absolutely loved Maneater but Heartbreaker has my heart. If you are someone like me who grew up watching Charlie’s angels on repeat I highly recommend this book.

This is the second book of the Maven’s series and our leading lady is Lana and I am absolutely obsessed with her. Lana’s mission is that she is hired by the owner of Monster Smash to pose as a monster truck driver to figure out who wants to sabotage his drivers and events. This is where Lana meets our MMC Roman. After he was suspended from IndyCar for a year he has decided to lay low to improve his reputation but of course laying low doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want to stop driving and thus he returns to the place he started off with before IndyCar which is Monster Smash.

To say Lana left an impression on Roman would be an understatement. When the pair first meet he thought that she was just another fan but she wasn’t long putting him in his place noting that she is in fact a driver and not an obsessed fan, and oh that she cannot wait to battle it out with him for the title. Yeah that was definitely the moment knew he found his match.

Lana’s investigation involved her getting to know the drivers better to identify suspects but this also allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of Roman. He had a few negative reports from the media but Lana realised that these reports were fabricated or either set ups which she then concluded that Roman was probably key to this investigation.

As the pair started to her to know each other better the walls came down and this rival relationship started to develop into something even deeper. When they decided to give in to their relationship I loved that Lana was just as possessive over her man than Roman was over Lana. The pair were obsessed with each other so I wasn’t surprised of this at all.

Side note I know Demi who is Lana’s partner is a side character but she was absolutely iconic throughout. She gave Lana that push to enjoy herself and go after Roman 🤭

I don’t want to give to much away but overall I absolutely loved this book and I cannot wait for where the author will take us next in this world. Thank you to the author and house of hearts who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

Morgan Elizabeth has done it again because I had so much fun reading Heartbreaker. Between the monster truck racing, the romantic suspense, the laugh out loud banter, and the chemistry between Lana and Roman, I was hooked from start to finish.

Lana is exactly the kind of heroine I love reading about. She's PI who is undercover as a talented monster truck driver thriving in a male dominated sport, fiercely independent, and completely unapologetic about who she is. One of my favorite aspects of her journey was watching her learn that she didn't have to choose between being tough and embracing her feminine side. Seeing her become more confident in every part of herself was incredibly empowering.

Roman was the perfect match for her. I loved how he constantly encouraged Lana to see herself the way he saw her: talented, capable, and someone who could genuinely make a difference for women in the sport. The way these two showed up for each other made me root for them even harder. Their rivals to lovers dynamic was packed with tension, chemistry, and some truly top-tier banter.

As someone who grew up loving Totally Spies!, this series feels like the perfect adult romance version of that concept. Every new clue had me changing my theories and the dynamics between the Mavens squad was amazing.

I also have to mention the interactions between Lana, Demi, and Roman because they were absolutely hilarious. Their dynamic brought so much humor and personality to the story and gave me some of my favorite moments in the book.

If you're looking for a unique sports romance with a badass FMC, a supportive hero, rivals-to-lovers tension, romantic suspense, and plenty of laughs, definitely pick this one up. The Mavens series just keeps getting better, and I already need the next book in my hands.

MORGAN WHAT WAS IN THIS!!!! This was addicting. This was chaos and it kept me on my toes!🤭

This was something so different and it kept me engaged the entire time. I have never read anything like this and I'm just.. wow😚🤌

Lana is such a BADDIE!!! A Maven girl(badass female investigator) who disguised herself as a Monster truck drive?! I dont need to say less. She seriously went in with one of the most insane jobs to find out who has been causing chaos and trying to wreck others lives/job. She went in find the bad guy but little did she know she would find the love of her life😛💅 Absolutely adored her character. She was constantly kicking butt and her banter with Roman was oh so delicious😏

As soon as Roman came in I knew he was a cocky guy🫣 But little did we know it was all an image he was trying to keep up. Instantly flirty with the new girl and trying to get on her good side. He took her banter back and man was down bad🙂‍↕️ What looked like a big head, was actually just a guy with a mushy heart. He was genuinely so sweet. Always helping Lana with her racing and helping her get better. Honestly such a man😭 The way he takes care of her melted my heart 🥹

I loved the mystery. I loved being on the edge of my seat and trying to find out who was causing chaos and being a menace. I loved all the characters and the vibes were just so freaking good😌

Their chemistry was 🔥🔥🔥. Had to dm Morgan cause I was just so giddy hehe.

This is the second book in the Mavens series but you don’t need to read the first in the series to read this one. Both can be read stand alone. The Mavens is a group of women PIs who each have their own specialty.

Lana’s specialty is the chameleon, she can blend in wherever, she is on assignment at Monster Smash as Heartbreaker - the only female driver in the current circuit. The Mavens are hired to see who has been messing with one of the Monster Truck drivers. Rome is a hot shot driver who is currently dealing with a series of events that don’t add up, someone is after him and he’s unsure of what to do. When Lana joins the circuit, Rome and all of the other drivers are confused as to how she got there, but Lana holds her own under all of their scrutiny.

Lana & Rome’s sexual tension jumps off the page from the first chapter despite both of their uncertainties. Their banter and quick give and take makes them both squirm with wonder but Rome can’t find out why Lana is there so she can’t get too close to Rome, or can she?

Lana is a private investigator whose next job is going undercover as a Monster Truck driver. Roman is a currently suspended IndyCar driver who is spending his one-year suspension back in the Monster Truck circuit. Lana and her partner, Demi, must figure out who is causing the issues that are targeting the Monster Smash drivers and Lana can’t let the bad boy, who is secretly not a bad boy, distract her from the mission.

I had a lot of fun reading Heartbreaker! I thought it would be hard to live up to Maneater but I think this was as good, if not a little bit better, in my eyes. Lana is so sweet, even when she’s standing up for herself to men, and I think Roman is someone who is just trying to do the best he can do with so many people in his ear trying to tell him what to do! I’m so glad that after their fight they didn’t take forever to make up. The spice was hot and didn’t impede the plot. (Think dry humping, he cums in his pants, locker room and in a hotel room but up against the wall. 🥵) Morgan had me suspicious of everyone in or around Monster Smash for causing all the issues plaguing the drivers.

I absolutely INHALED this book, it was such a fun time!

Roman is the definition of lover boy and down bad. He’s never been in a relationship but completely besotted with Lana from the moment he meets her.
He tells her from the start that he wants to get to know her and just adores her so much.
Lana is such a fun character! She’s completely different to what i expect and also such a badass!
Roman and Lana are so cute together and have amazing communication the whole way through

I say it every time but i LOVE how Morgan Elizabeth writes her characters and the way they solve problems without having an unnecessary breakup. Plenty of communication to talking everything through without over reacting!

I love this series so much and never want it to end!!

Omg I devoured this book. The sabotage mystery around Roman was easy to guess, but still super fun. Lana and Roman’s chemistry was unreal. Their banter had me grinning nonstop. Roman acts like a flirty menace, but he’s actually a lover boy with a filthy mouth and a soft heart especially when it comes to Lana. I adored how he hyped her up constantly and always stood in her corner. And Lana was incredible. She was such a badass and I loved watching her put Roman in his place. They were perfect together. Great communication, great tension, just great everything. Also, Demi needs her own book immediately. That knocking on the door scene during the big reveal had me laughing so hard. Overall it was cute, funny, sweet, and such a good time.

The idea of a female monster truck driver is elite! In comparison to the first book I wanted more mystery and more chaos I think? This was still amazing and the spice between Lana and Roman was so good.

Heartbreaker by Morgan Elizabeth was equal parts fun, incredible spice and connection, and enemies to lovers goodness. This book is what romance books should be. It was consuming from start to finish, it had so much vibrancy and personality and life and exuberance just filling the pages of this story, and it had the most undeniable level of connection between these two characters that had me literally dying for more of them and everything they shared. I literally could not stop reading this book and stayed up until 1 AM finishing it because I was that obsessed and consumed and just invested in this story, in this couple, and in every moment I could get with Roman and Lana. Those two definitely made this book memorable in every way and I for one could not get enough.

Every word of this book just reminded me again and again why Morgan Elizabeth is one of my favorite authors. And honestly, I spent so much of this book not only falling absolutely in love with Roman and Lana and everything they shared, just enjoying the immaculate vibes of this book, and beyond consumed in what this author brought to life, but I also spent much of this book just feeling so grateful that I found myself to this author’s words and stories. Her books are just in a league of their own in my opinion. The way they all so perfectly balance heart and feels with consuming connection and fire, with memorable stories and characters and moments, all while just giving you the time of your life and a hell of a love story is truly everything. I honestly cannot say that enough. And reading this book and falling in love with these characters in every moment of their story just reminded me again and again how grateful I am that I get to experience stories and characters and moments as a reader within the words and worlds that Morgan Elizabeth creates.

Heartbreaker truly captures everything. I love about a book by Morgan Elizabeth. There was not only so much vibrancy and personality between Roman and Lana and every other character of this book, but there was just something magical and consuming about what is infused into this book. I mean, I’m telling you the moment I started this book I could not put it down. I was hooked. I was sinkered. I was ready for everything. This story had to offer and I was definitely here for the unadulterated connection and level of fire between Roman and Lana. Those two love to push every single button they can find on the other, but I was here for every second of them realizing that every button they pushed on the other simultaneously brought them closer and had them falling so hard for one another. Feeling and experiencing all of that while the story unfolded was fantastic and just made for a read that I loved every single word of.

Roman and Lana definitely know how to get under each other skin and being forced to be so close to one another is driving them crazy. But it’s the best kind of crazy because the more these two are around each other, the more they see the real versions of each other. The more they understand each other, the more they see each other‘s vulnerabilities, and the more they push that tension closer and closer to the inevitable edge that they will fall over together. And let me just tell you, when these two enemies become lovers and become so much more you will love getting to fall over that edge right along with them. Because that edge is glorious with these two. It is not only chock full of their very distinctive personalities and connection and vibrancy, but it is just perfect for them. The way in which these two bring out the best and the most true versions of each other when they’re together is everything and we’ll just have you knowing that they have to find a way.

The way that that feeling, and that connection to these two and their story pulls you through every breath of what they share in this book will definitely have you rooting like hell for them, and knowing that they have to find a way to that much deserved happily ever after because there is no other ending that is suitable for the two of them.

I also have to say that getting to be in the thick of it with these two when push comes to shove, when the truth is revealed, and getting to watch these two pull back the layers of one another as they realized exactly who they were and what they felt was utterly phenomenal. Lana and Roman may push every button on one another, they may drive each other crazy, but in the same breath, they give each other everything, and it shows. On every single page of this book and in every moment you get with them, you feel it in your bones and then you’re very soul how much these two are meant to be. You feel it in the way they build trust with one another, you feel it in the way they support one another, you feel it in the way they just get one another and celebrate every part and peace of one another. You just get to experience it in the most authentic way through what this author creates and it will have you loving every single second, you get with them.

I also was very much here for the way that these two kept each other on their toes and definitely kept each other dying for more. Roman and Lana definitely bring the enemies to lovers vibes in the best way and show that being forced to work closely with one another, being presented with opportunity after opportunity to impact and affect each other, and being pushed to realize the truths that are right in front of them is exactly where they needed to be.

These two definitely helped turn each other‘s worlds upside down and honestly, I don’t think they would have it any other way and I know I wouldn’t because getting to experience their love story through Morgan Elizabeth’s incredible writing just shows you that these two were meant to find each other and be in each other’s lives. You feel that in every breath of this book, and in every second of connection and fire and spark these two share, and it’s truly incredible to experience. What these two share together will definitely have you believing in them, the connection they share, and what it all means for them in their future, and you will just love it. You will love it so much. I know I did.

I have to say that one of my favorite aspects of this book and really in any of the many books I’ve read by this author is feeling like I genuinely get to love and know her characters. I felt like I just got so many pieces of who Roman and Lana each were, and I got to feel so invested and a part of their individual journeys to success while also seeing them fall so hard for one another. Getting to see them have hard conversations, getting to see them share their vulnerabilities and fears and every piece of themselves, and just getting to be there as they opened up and put it all on the line for themselves in each other when it really mattered was truly everything. It made for a love story I couldn’t help but be invested in and characters that I just loved wholeheartedly for who they were.

Between Roman’s bad boy exterior with a true heart of gold and a level of protectiveness that was swoony with a capital S, and Lana‘s no nonsense self who was just so genuinely herself even when the world pushed her in other directions….I was smitten with these two. They just so perfectly complimented each other and even in those moments when they drove each other crazy or bantered until the cows came home, those two we’re so right for one another. And I honestly could not get enough of every single moment I not only got a piece of them, but I got to experience their moments together as they worked their asses off to end open the place they truly wanted to be together.

Not to be all done, this entire world of characters that Morgan Elizabeth has created own a very special place in my heart. This book is a true standalone, but it’s in a series that is so fun and just so unique, but it’s also in a wider world of characters that pop up in the best ways and the best moments. I love that every book of hers feels like a little bit of a family reunion because I just get to spend time with my favorite characters and see little glimpses of them whether it’s on a T-shirt or an actual conversations or what not and I just love it. I love that this author has created such distinctive and memorable characters and stories that they stick with me months and years, and many many books later. Getting to experience another world of characters in this book that I hope to see more of in the future just made my heart love this book even more.

Plus, being set in the world of monster trucks meets Charlie’s Angels was such a unique and fun idea that I absolutely loved. There’s a suspense element to this book that definitely keeps you hooked trying to figure out who is behind what. And along with that there’s also just so many incredible pieces you get to this world of characters in the world of monster trucks and racing that I could not get enough of. I loved getting to see both of these worlds crash into one another and getting to be a part of these characters journeys as they fell for each other in the thick of that. It made for such a memorable story that I just loved every single second of.

If you take one thing away from this book review, please let it be that you should read this book and honestly you need to read every book by Morgan Elizabeth. Heartbreaker was just such a fun and consuming and utterly incredible book to read and experience. It had memorable and distinctive characters, it had a story that just didn’t quit, and it had so much heat and romance that made my love story loving heart so beyond happy. It just showed me a love story between two characters who started off the book so seemingly opposite, but soon became each other‘s everything. I loved getting to be there with them through every single piece of their puzzle coming together and I definitely was here for every authentic and swoony moment these two shared as they created a beautiful and quite memorable picture together.

Heartbreaker was everything I hoped it would be and more. It is definitely one of my favorite romances I have read this year and it gives a very memorable story with two very distinctive characters, who fall in every way possible for one another. Getting to be a part of their story as they drove each other crazy, as they made each other feel everything, and as they became the truest versions of themselves while feeing everything for one another was not only an incredible love story, but a reading experience I know I won’t soon forget. This book combines the fun, the spice, the vibrancy,and all the feels into a unique and memorable package that gives you a love story and two characters who just don’t quit.

And honestly? That’s just part of what I absolutely loved about this book! So just do yourself a favor and jump in a heart first of this book. You won’t regret it and you will just love what Roman and Lana so authentically give you in this book. Prepare yourself for all of the banter, all of the incredible fire and spark, and a love that is built brick by brick on honesty, vulnerability, trust, passion, and so so much connection. Heartbreaker takes all that and more to create a wholeheartedly enjoyable love story from start to finish that will show you the true depth of what these characters share, how far they’re willing to go for each other and the truth, and that will show you every piece that makes them the perfect fit for one another.

A women who dominates in a man's field and falls in love with her rival? Say less! I absolutely loved this one! Lana is undercover as a monster truck driver in order to figure out who keeps sabotaging well known driver Roman DeLuca. While trying to gather a suspect list and possible motives, Lana finds herself growing closer to Roman the more she learns about him. With romance and a little bit of suspense, Heartbreaker is an entertaining and enjoyable read!

How does she do it? Every single Morgan Elizabeth book somehow tops the last, and I am falling more in love with this series with each installment.

In Heatbreaker, we follow Lana, who goes undercover as a driver to uncover who is sabotaging the Monster Smash racing team. Unfortunately, that means getting far too close to Roman, the cocky, infuriating former IndyCar racer whose suspension has landed him on the team. When it becomes clear that Roman is the saboteur's actual target, Lana has no choice but to stay close to him. As the danger closes in and the lines between duty and desire begin to blur, keeping him safe without losing her heart might just become the real mission.

These characters were absolute gold. Lana is immediately likable. She's an absolute badass, and she knows it. They call her the Chameleon for a reason. She can blend in or stand out whenever the job requires it, but beneath all of that is a woman who has spent her entire life adapting herself to fit everyone else's expectations. She's the ultimate people pleaser, so used to becoming whoever she needs to be that she's never really stopped to ask herself who Lana actually is.

Then there's Roman. With his confidence, cocky grin, and bad-boy reputation, it's easy to judge him at first glance. But beneath all that bravado is a man who has spent his entire life fighting to prove he belongs. His father runs the IndyCar team, but Roman has never wanted handouts, and his father has never given them. He's worked for everything he's earned. Unfortunately, the reckless image he's carefully cultivated begins to overshadow his talent, threatening the career he's worked so hard to build. Just when he's determined to prove everyone wrong, a string of mysterious accidents keeps putting him back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Monster Smash becomes his chance to rebuild his reputation, but it seems trouble has followed him there.

These two were so perfectly in sync. They saw straight through each other's carefully crafted facades and refused to let the other hide behind them. They became each other's safe place. There were no pressures, no pretending, just quiet understanding, unwavering support, and someone willing to simply sit beside them when they needed to work through things on their own.

I loved Roman's journey, but Lana's was everything. Watching her step into her undercover role as Heartbreaker was incredible because she didn't have to pretend to be someone else. She slipped into it so naturally because, underneath the persona, Heartbreaker was simply Lana. Without even realizing it, she became an inspiration to the women and little girls around her, showing them that they don't have to conform. They can be hard and soft, break stereotypes, and be whoever they want to be. And in finally embracing all of those sides of herself, Lana allowed herself to soften, be vulnerable, cry, and realize that she has always been enough... it was absolutely chef's kiss.

Morgan Elizabeth perfectly balanced humor, suspense, heartfelt emotion, and seriously spicy chemistry. I laughed, I swooned, I held my breath, and I couldn't put it down. Heatbreaker absolutely wowed me, exactly as I knew it would. This series is my jam!

This book was just so cool and SO much fun! First of all, the concept of this is just awesome and so refreshing. A monster truck romance with a female monster truck driver as the FMC is just so unique and different. I was getting a little tired of the billionaire, cowboy, hockey player (or somehow all three 😂) romances, so this was the perfect little palate cleanser. The cover is also one of my favorites! I LOVE that it actually shows Lana and her badass unicorn monster truck because that thing is freaking awesome. I love that she embraces being feminine while absolutely dominating in such a male dominated sport. She has a history of trying to make herself smaller to fit in or blend in, but I think here she excelled at standing out and proving other people wrong.

I expected Roman to be the cocky playboy former IndyCar turned monster truck driver, but he was actually just such a sweetheart. I loved how supportive he was of Lana from the very beginning. He stood up for her when people questioned her because she was a woman, believed in her talent, encouraged her dreams, and never once tried to dull her shine. He trusted her and genuinely wanted to see her succeed, and I loved that so much.

One of my favorite scenes was when they had the monster truck arena all to themselves and just drove around together. It felt like the cutest date, and I loved that moment between them. Their chemistry was so good!

You all know romantic suspense is my favorite romance subgenre, so the mystery aspect was right up my alley. Trying to figure out who was sabotaging Roman kept me invested and I won't lie, but this was the first time I actually guessed who the perp was! I KNEW it, but there were so many suspects, so much tension, and I loved all the investigation and whodunnit elements woven into the romance.

My only real complaint (and the reason this was 4 stars instead of 5 for me) is that they got together SO fast. By around 25% they were already together, and then it felt like chapter after chapter of spice before the plot really started moving again around the halfway point. Don't get me wrong... the spice was hot, as it always is with anything Morgan writes, but I wanted it to get back to the mystery and suspense, or to be better balanced. I also wish we'd gotten more of the rivals to lovers kind of dynamic because the tension between them disappeared pretty quickly once they admitted they were attracted to each other. However, I was okay with all of that because the book was just so good that it was easy to overlook those things and it definitely didn't deter me!

I thoroughly enjoyed this SO much! The premise was incredibly unique, the romance between Lana and Roman was amazing, and the suspense was perfect. This was a really, really great second book in the Mavens series, and now I'm even more excited for Demi and Rory's books! I need them SO bad!

I loved this book! Maneater (book one in this series) set the bar high, and I just want to start off this review by saying that this book exceeded my expectations. Lana (FMC) and Roman (MMC) are so cute together, and though he is initially an irritating ass toward her, it quickly becomes apparent that they are both excellent at hiding behind a mask and shutting down their real emotions when other people are around. Both of the main characters are monster truck drivers, but Roman has no idea that Lana is really there because she works for the Mavens (think Charlie’s Angels) and was hired by his boss to investigate what seems to be multiple sabotage attempts against the racing company as well as Roman himself. I love the way the hidden identity situation was handled, and the MMC’s reaction to all of it (and the patience he shows her when she feels really anxious to tell him the whole truth).

Roman may be an arrogant reformed playboy, but he is an excellent boyfriend to Lana all things considered. They get together fairly quickly, but the pacing is great, and there is much more to the plot than just them ending up together. I love that they are happy together (even with secrets hanging over them) for the majority of the book, and of course like the rest of this author’s books the spice is on point. Roman is so sweet, and I love that he really sees Lana, and is determined to give her everything that she has ever wanted (two words: Calico Critters). He stands up for her from the start, even though she can fight her own battles, because he believes in her even when they are just supposed to be rivals.

I really like how the third act was handled, and how the author showed that a couple can be tested and fight without forcing a third act breakup just for the sake of having one. Conflict in a relationship is normal, but I firmly believe that the relationship doesn’t have to be completely destroyed to prove that they will stay together in the long run. This book shows them facing a conflict, arguing their feelings, taking a tiny bit of space so they don’t say something they regret, and then communicating when tempers have cooled. I appreciate the healthy approach to communication and showing them learn how to work through things together.

OMG I AM OBSESSED! This was an EASY 5 star read. Think Charlie’s Angels, but the uncover job assignment is driving monster trucks. This is the second book in this universe, so you better believe I’m going to go read Maneater (book 1) immediately now. However, you don’t have to read book 1 to understand what’s going on.

Lana works for an organization that investigates suspicious activity from the inside called The Mavens. She and her job partner Demi are hired to investigate at Monster Smash, where people race and do tricks in monster trucks. While there she meets Rome DeLuca, the cocky driver who she has immediate chemistry with. He also is who all the sabotage is happening to.

The plot was fantastic, super engaging. Not only because of the mystery needing to be solved, the events were really entertaining as well as the side characters (Please give Demi her own book).

Lana was an amazing FMC. Strong, smart, and had the best personality. She is a female in a male dominated field (monster truck driving) and becomes such an inspiration for women and little girls. I teared up at the interactions revolving around this. All while Rome stands to the side proudly and watches her shine. I enjoyed being in her head and felt all the things she felt and thought were so valid. I connected so much with her.

Rome was an amazing MMC. He was so kind and genuinely supportive of Lana. He was always rooting for her even though he was competing against her.

Oh my god, this man is exactly who Lana needed and vice versa. They both were so supportive of each other and proud of their accomplishments. It felt so healthy. They had healthy communication, excluding the parts where she had to hid that she was an undercover agent but that makes complete sense. The banter was fantastic as well, it was so entertaining and they both loved it. This book had so many sweet and spicy moments between them that I don’t want to spoil here. You have to read for yourself and find out!

From page 1, I knew this was going to be a good read. Morgan Elizabeth never fails to give her readers stories with wonderful characters, tension galore, deep connection, and romance filled with undeniable chemistry. Heartbreaker is book 2 in the Mavens series and it raises the bar for this series. Both our MCs are hiding behind the masks they wear to do their jobs, but the more time spent together the further and further those masks fall. Until finally they completely remove them, allowing each other in more than anyone before.

An undercover spy who drives a unicorn monster truck! That is our FMC Lana and she is just as hardcore as monster trucks can be. Hired to determine the sabotage attempts made in the monster truck racing league, she has absolutely no issues joining in on the fun. Having a suspect in mind brings her closer to an employee who stays very guarded at first. Watching her go from skeptic, to intrigued, to interested she learns a lot about herself and what she really wants in her life. The bantering between her and the MMC is amazing and had me kicking my feet in joy.

Roman is a layered MMC. When we first meet him, he is a bad boy on the outside, but has a total heart of gold. He has developed different masks to wear with different people and watching him slowly lower his down for Lana was pure joy. She definitely challenges him and while he can’t quite figure her out immediately, he is going to keep trying. From the get go, he is intrigued by her, defends her to people, and wants to see her succeed. He knows she doesn’t need him to, but he does so anyways.

Everything in this book is so well done, as per the norm from Morgan. While it may have serious toned topics, overall it is a fun read that had me laughing throughout too. The relationship between our MCs was a joy to see develop, the communication between them is wonderful throughout, and of course, Morgan gives us delicious spice in all the right ways. I definitely must read for me and one I highly recommend for others to read.
