Diana Elliot Graham is proof that you don’t need to be an author to be an author. First and foremost she is an avid reader who never read a book she regretted. She calls herself the accidental-author because she wrote her debut novel, When We Were, with some spare time, an interesting concept, and a “just keep writing” mentality. (And a lot of encouragement, okay bullying, from friends and family.) Since then, she has numerous projects that are in varying degrees of semi-finished that may or may not ever see the light of day.
Now, here she is, writing this bio as imposter syndrome ripples through her entire body, still shocked that anyone cares enough about her writing to stumble on this blurb that has been uncomfortably written in third person. So I’m just going to stop. Follow me on social media for updates on future projects. Or don’t.

I wrote this, which means it's hard for me to actually give it five stars because the inability to ever believe I did something great is the overwhelming and crippling curse of being a millennial woman.

However, I did laugh when writing it.

And while you may not agree with parts of this book. Just know I stand by them completely. (And I'm obviously talking about her spitting.) 🐸

ARC REVIEW
Pub Date: June 22, 2026

I may have been one of the people who dubbed Diana Elliot Graham the Queen of Rom-Traum, but I never doubted that she could write a rom-com. After all, I laughed out loud several times while reading her first two books, too. And I know many of us have trust issues because of her, but I swear The Love Liability is a rom-com through & through. I had the absolute time of my life with Louisa & Hudson. I just felt so connected to both of them. They had me laughing, swooning, melting, blushing, kicking my feet, & internally screaming so hard, my head may have lost its voice. That’s not to say I didn’t get emotional though. Of course I cried—I don’t think it would be a DEG book if I hadn’t—but I promise most of them were tears of joy!

As always, I can never write an overview for a DEG book without spoiling anything so I’m not even going to try. One thing for sure, whether rom-traum or rom-com, her prose will have you highlighting page after page & will leave you in your feels, staring at the ceiling, (possibly crying, depending on what stuck with you the most), reflecting on the reality of it all.

Now, I want to leave you with the same postscript I wrote for her debut novel, because it feels so much more relevant to The Love Liability at this time—If you’re one of those people who think you can’t learn anything of value from a romance novel, this one’s for you.

The Love Liability is coming soon on June 22nd. While it is a standalone, I highly recommend reading the Arden Bancroft series first for greater impact.

What to expect:
•grumpy x sunshine
•marriage of convenience
•neighbor enemies to lovers
•he falls first
•slow burn
•top tier banter
•yearning MMC
•”good girl”
•”fuck it”
•dual POV
•an unforgettable epilogue
•MUST-READ AUTHOR’S NOTE

La razón por la que no le pongo una calificación más alta es porLouisa. Entiendo que sea buena persona y muy distraída, pero en muchos momentos era demasiado ingenua y siempre necesitaba que alguien la salvara. No tenía sentido común.

Thank you to the author for this E-ARC!
I absolutely LOVED this book! It is fresh, funny, and an absolute banger.

The characters are so well rounded with the MFC taking center stage in all her overalls glory. Louisa is quirky, determined, and pure sunshine. She is also an audiobook narrator so you can find her moaning at all hours of the night. We get dual POV which works so well here, but the inner dialogue of Louisa will have you completely smitten. A LOT of paranthesis are used and it feels like Louisa is just continuously letting the reader in on the joke.

Hudson is pure perfection. The way he shows up in all the small ways and lets Louisa's dork flag fly!

Known for her Rom-Traums, this is truly a great RomCom. The author blends a perfect concoction of swoon, spice, and humor, but doesn't shy away from the hard hitting topic of immigration which is cleverly weaved in throughout the book without being in your face. It is a subtle infiltration until it's not. You can ignore it until you can't and I love the author for doing it this way. She gives us a choice, but never shies away from the facts or the truth.

If you’re a fan of DEG’s first two books, TRUST ME you’re gonna want to read this one. And don’t worry, this one does give you a traditional HEA. But this is DEG we’re talking about, and it’s never that simple. It’s a happily ever after that still leaves you sitting there with introspective thoughts.

What this book made me realize is that most books labeled “rom com” are…not actually that. Like yes, they have the rom, but where is the com?! This, my friends, is a true rom com. I can count on one hand the number of times a book has made me genuinely laugh out loud, and this one had me in tears (and for once, not the soul crushing kind). I’m talking full on, can’t see the words through my laughter, wiping my eyes kind of tears.

DEG absolutely shines when it comes to character work, and this book is no exception. Our FMC, Louisa, is bright, bubbly, and determined to find joy in everything (because trauma). She’s chaotic, awkward, and responsible for so many of the laugh out loud moments.

Then we have Hudson, our emotionally unavailable king, who has built wall after wall to keep people out (again… trauma). He’s painfully Type A, acts of service coded, and watching him slowly unravel from grump to full on lover boy? Yeah. That was the heart of this story for me.

And the two of them together is a mess in the best way possible. Fully committed to staying in their safe little “this is fake” box while very obviously falling head over heels in love.

If you’re looking for a rom com that actually delivers on both the rom and the com, with just as much heart as humor, add this to your TBR immediately.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Diana Elliott Graham really said “oh, you thought I only destroy you emotionally?” and then casually delivered one of the most addictive rom-coms I’ve read in forever.

The Love Liability reminds you why romance readers are obsessed with romance. It’s FUN. It’s flirty. It’s chaotic (no consequences). It has all the tropes we collectively lose our minds over, neighbor enemies-to-lovers, grumpy x sunshine, fake marriage/marriage of convenience, slow burn tension, forced proximity, HE FALLS FIRST energy, and a hero so emotionally constipated that every tiny crack in his armor feels like winning the lottery.

Hudson is the definition of a tightly wound, suits-always-ironed, man-of-few-words MMC. He’s an attorney who likes order, structure, silence… and then Louisa crashes into his life narrating spicy romance audiobooks through the walls like the beautiful little hurricane she is. She’s chatty, eclectic, emotional, chaotic, funny, and SO painfully lovable. Their chemistry is absolute catnip.

But what Diana does differently… and why her books hit so hard for me every single time, is how REAL her characters feel. Even in a rom-com setting, these people breathe. Their inner monologues feel natural and messy and vulnerable in a way that makes you completely forget you’re reading. You don’t feel like you’re watching characters fall in love. You feel like you’re sitting in the apartment next door overhearing it happen in real time.

And somehow this woman made me giggle, kick my feet, melt into a puddle, AND get emotionally attached to a man who probably inventories his newly acquired Kermit coffee mug.

Also: longtime Diana readers are going to SCREAM. That’s it. Scream.

This is over 400 pages and I absolutely inhaled it. No dragging. No filler. Just chemistry, tension, comfort, longing, banter, emotional intimacy, and two opposites colliding in the most perfect way.

A hundred bajillion stars.
Rom-com Diana Elliott Graham supremacy officially activated. 💚

Five glorious stars for a book that is so much more than just a rom-com.

Diana Elliot Graham made me fall completely in love with Louisa and Hudson, and now I genuinely don't know how to move on after such a beautiful, heartwarming love story.

Louisa is the perfect FMC—funny, chaotic, sweet, witty, and armed with the kind of humor that will have you smiling from the very first page. She had me wrapped around her finger from the very beginning.

And Hudson... oh my goodness. What. A. Man. Reserved, organized, serious—the complete opposite of Louisa—but everything hidden behind those icy walls absolutely melted my heart.

These two made me feel *everything*: the tightness in my chest, the butterflies, the longing to finally see them together. There's nothing better than mutual yearning, and this book delivers it in abundance.

The writing is simply impeccable—clever, witty, poetic, and incredibly sexy. The intimate scenes between these two will definitely have you reaching for a fan, but they're also deeply emotional and beautifully written.

Thank you, Diana, for this wonderful happy ending, for trusting me with this ARC, and for creating such a cozy, heartfelt story. And thank you for that epilogue—you had me crying all over again. Your words are filled with honesty, social awareness, and compassion, making the ending even more meaningful.

Please do yourself a favor and read this beautiful story. 🤍

Excuse me while I collect my thoughts - but know this rom-com has depth and a greater underlying story we all need to be reminded of.

While this may not be the traditional rom-traum I have come to love (and be devastated by) from DEG, this story does not lack the emotional depth, character development, and bigger picture messaging that I have come to love in her books.

A sunshine-y woman who lights up every room she walks into, and a man who does his best to ensure no one ever gets to know him, find themselves in a marriage of convenience...only to learn that love may just be for them - even if it looks nothing like they expected.

While the banter, tension, and messy characters (who feel like friends) made it impossible to put this book down, the greater messaging and reminder of this entire plot make it impossible not to recommend.

Oh my gosh! What can I even say besides DEG has done it again!!

Hudson is just like how I love my MMCs. Acts of service, a little broody, private except when it comes to her. LEMME REPEAT!! ACTS OF SERVICE KING!!!

Louisa is a relatable and likable character! Between the overalls, daisies, throat coat tea, and the overall positive outlook about things, there were so many times I was like girllll same!

There are surprises and twists and it wouldn’t be a DEG book if I didn’t cry. Don’t worry it is definitely a Rom-com and I genuinely laughed out loud. But I love love and there is a scene that was so beautiful I got emotional lol…

I will need some time to collect my thoughts before I can give this a full review, as I am currently staring at the wall, contemplating life (like i’ve done after finishing every DEG novel…but at least this time it’s without the uncontrollable sobbing). What I will say is that The Love Liability absolutely delivers on the rom com promise (and it is a REALLY good one at that)… but it’s also so much more. and if you’re wondering (like I was) about the sudden shift into rom com territory and why this is a story that needed to be told now, don’t worry, the reasoning becomes jarringly clear… and I couldn’t agree with it more.

What did I think of this book? I had 278 comments on this book. (Not including the probably 278 more I sent to hers truly.) In a perfect world, this book would be “just another HEA”… but this is Diana’s world, and we’re all just living in it. So yes, Diana. Congrats on a true rom-com HEA.

From our chaos gremlin, Louisa… to our one of a kind himbo, Hudson. Art. It’s art. From the first word to the last. (I’m looking at you, epilogue…. Read it.) This book had me (regrettably) kicking my feet, letting tears fall, and screaming into my pillow.

I am a die hard DEG stan. Possibly to a fault in that I’m quite unsure I’d ever not like something she writes. With that said, I loved this book in a way I haven’t loved a book in a long time. It made me think, feel things, look in the mirror, and have conversations I don’t usually have. Yes, this book IS that powerful.

So read it. Love it. Live it. If not for me, then.. for them.

And I don’t mean Louisa and Hudson.

I was a little worried going in because when the Notorious D.E.G says that you won’t be traumatized, it’s hard to trust her. It was sooo good though, i absolutely LOVED the banter and i loved Hudson’s slutty little comments 🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️

She can’t write a bad book imo 💚

(spoiler-ish? maybe.)

nice one. truly, d.e.g.

can anyone tell i didn’t listen to her warning?

when i saw that this book was being released and it was a romcom, i could hardly believe it (i literally have trauma i swear) because of the pain i’ve gone through with her, caused by her (!) but i knew it was the perfect time because i’d been stalling SMK and this felt like it could be the best place where i land after she undoubtedly continues to traumatize me. it was. and by the way, stupidly i was like well, why don’t i just read this and then SMK, delay the heartbreak well, thank God i did not!

anyway.

my review of this book is first and foremost as it is for all DEG books: it was a great experience. for all the *grumpy* mmcs i’ve read (which, by the way, i hate in contemporary!!!), hudson is definitely (currently) at the top of my list. he is, as lou has said, firm but not aggressive which makes him all the more human, as all her characters are. HUMAN above every fucking thing.

hudson was so sweet. that was all i could think. that he was sweet and wonderful and acts of service-y. he wasn’t cruel to be cruel at any point, never made her feel like she was in any way, less than him. he was grumpy to everyone, sure but never in a way that was unkind. and he *smiled*. he almost always never hid it. never tried to cosplay being a villain because he had daddy issues. SWEET.

why no octopodes? fucking kill me omg????

the way he just bends to her (and bends her over) like he can’t help it. like it’s the only option. it’s beautiful to witness.

louisa. shiny, bubbly louisa. she was so kind and despite never feeling enough, never let how others felt about her affect her personality. she made people feel seen and respected and loved and heard. the RECORDING BOOTH SCENE???? HELLOOOO???? she’s got gameeee.

i can’t thank God enough that this was a happy(ish) ending. because i really have been through too much with her. my God.

ARDEN AND WILL CAMEO fucking killed me. i saw it coming but i didn’t know at what point it would come. it came at the perfect time of course. (i will forever love you arden).

obviously we’re three for three on DEG. fucking brilliant woman!

A traditional rom-com? From THE Rom-Traum Queen Diana Elliot Graham? I didn't think it could be done, but this book proved me wrong.

The Love Liability has all of the best parts of a DEG novel—the writing, the characters—with none of the sad! I sobbed over her first two novels, but I finished this one with no tears. Yes, I did give myself a pat on the back for that.

Hudson Ellis puts other book boyfriends to shame. His steady change from Annoying Neighbor(TM) to emotionally mature husband needs to be taught in schools. He brought the romance big time, and I would like to enter a marriage of convenience now.

My sweet, chaotic Louisa is absolutely my favorite. Her endless optimism makes me wish I wasn't such a pessimist, and that I enjoyed talking to people. I love how she never backed down during difficult times.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Diana Elliot Graham is showing off her range with this newest release, and I hope everyone can appreciate it as much as I do. I also highly encourage everyone to turn the page for the epilogue and author's note. They are the cherry on top of this cake.

Thank you so much to the author for my copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ARC Review: The Love Liability by Diana Elliott Graham 💕

This was such a fun, feel-good romcom with The Proposal-style vibes—forced proximity, marriage of convenience and all the chaos that comes with it 😭✨

Louisa is beautifully unhinged in the best way—her inner dialogue is chaotic, funny, and so endearing it just works. Hudson is her total opposite: calm, direct, and impossible not to root for. Their dynamic is EVERYTHING.

DEG nailed this- The banter, the internal monologues, the emotional beats—she makes it all feel so alive. At times Lou’s narration is a little wild, but honestly that’s what makes her feel so real and lovable.

I loved her book duet When We Were and this one absolutely delivers too 💫 I will read anything she writes at this point.

⭐ 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5 on Goodreads)

Out June 22nd—add it to your TBR if you love funny, heartwarming, slightly chaotic romance with big main character energy 💕📚

Also- the epilogue/author note is worth reading and so relevant in today’s society 🫶🏻

According to DEG herself, the fact I still cried while reading this book doesn't count because they were happy tears... whatever.

DEG did the damn thing and wrote a traditional HEA. Did I love it? Absolutely. Was I still expecting heartbreak? Yes.

Hudson and Louisa are both such wonderfully imperfect people. Hudsom is so closed off and Louisa is so.... not.
I loved their enemies-to-lovers banter, especially the all out war through the wall.

I was giggling and kicking my feet several times. I think I left the comment "hot" more than 5 times in regards to Hudson Ellis, the man that he is. 🔥

DEG never disappoints.

P.S. don't forget to read the Epilogue and Author's Note. 🤍

UGH. diana has done it again. she has managed to pull at my heart strings (although this time, a little less traumatic but i'm not complaining) with this marriage of convenience romance. adored the slow burn of this one, the tension!!!! the YEARNING!!!! god this was fantastic. signature DEG heart, humor, and wonderful prose.

i took my time with this because i didn't want it to end and i have no idea when we're getting another gem from her. i literally hang on this woman's every word!!!!!! i savored this and it's going to linger on in my brain and heart until the end of the year.

I am fully convinced that DEG could rewrite the phonebook and I would rate it five stars. Was I a little hesitant going into a traditional rom-com of hers, after how she so thoroughly wrecked me with her perfect rom-traums? Yes. But it was so worth it, and if you read for yourself you'll find that she still manages to sneak in ways to rally your empathy and tug hard on your heartstrings in all the ways you've come to know and love.

Louisa was a hoot and Hudson... what a closet cinnamon roll. Their banter was 10/10 (I expected nothing less), and I loved the way their relationship evolved. I absolutely inhaled this book, could not put it down, was consumed.

Don't skip the author's note!!

Everything you could ever want from a slow burn, enemies to lovers, happy ending. And yet.

So very DEG to make a pointed and necessary statement in the most tragic and beautiful way. The way only she knows how to do.

You’ll laugh, and fall in love. And your heart will be ripped out of your chest anyway. Happy ever after. Yes. For who? You’ll have to turn the page to find out.

To be fair, she did warn me.

This was so good. I love the way DEG tells a story it feels so natural like you’re really seeing into the characters mind more than any other book. This story was sweet and funny but also deeper than a typical romcom the authors note was so eye opening. Overall I love love loved this and I can’t wait to read what’s next. 💚💚💚

I am captivated by everything DEG writes. You truly don’t feel like you’re reading a book but more-so living as the main character. Louisa’s train of thought is so natural you are immediately immersed in her story, her life, and her emotions. And for the story itself…A MAN WHO YEARNS IS A MAN WHO EARNS 🙂‍↕️

The Authors Note:
A work of art in itself. I was not expecting the hidden messages in this book, but once again DEG outdoes herself.

I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were sweet and the internal monologues were well written and provided great perspective. The miscommunication trope, while I normally don’t love did serve to move the plot along and didn’t come out of left field in the third act like so many others do. The intimate scenes also helped to move the plot, were well written, and were not excessive.

Diana writes a Rom-Com!!!! For real this time. This was so good and just what I needed to bring me out of my slump. Marriage of convenience/ fake dating??? Sign me up. I loved the banter from the two main characters and the build up to their love story was beautiful.

The epilogue hit hard, and the authors note truly put into perspective what we’ve had to deal with in this country, and I really love that the author used this as a way to speak up about serious issues.

DEG always knows how to pack a punch. After being emotionally wrecked by her first two books (in the best way possible??), I knew I needed to pick up The Love Liability. The least she could do after making me sob was make me laugh, right?

Hudson and Louisa’s meet cute is more of a meet disaster, and when they discover they’re neighbors, the chaos only gets better. Watching these next door enemies team up to solve each other’s problems was everything I want in a rom-com.

What I loved most is that while this book is genuinely funny, DEG never loses the emotional depth that makes her writing so special. Her prose are still poignant, heartfelt, and incredibly relatable. In fact, I found myself crying over a fake-marriage wedding at 2 AM. 🫶🏻

I will never get over how witty and authentic DEG’s characters feel. And don’t even get me started on the Arden Bancroft crossover…I screamed. My girl!

The Love Liability is in fact a rom-com!

Lucia and Hudson are apartment neighbors who have grown to have a disdain toward one another due to Lucia's work. While she is a happy go lucky FMC, she falls down on her luck and finds herself in front of Hudson's door step seeking help. Of course the grump but loves quietly, Hudson steps in with his lending hand.

They do balance each other in many ways as characters, example, he's a minimalist, monotoned apartment, color coordinated dinner ware, she is colorful - personality and aesthetically.

While the story was funny at times, I found the inner-inner monologue trippy on the eyes for reading for some reason. After a while I got used to it. This will make no sense unless you do end up reading the book.

The tension build up living together and small things he did for Lucia was just *adorable*.

Thank you, DEG for a copy of an e-arc!
