When the woman he loved left, she took everything with her and what grew in the space she left behind wasn't grief. It was something quieter and much more patient.
Passion Burns is a story about heartbreak, betrayal, and the very specific kind of rage that only the people who know you best can ignite.
Some fires start slow. Some have been burning for months.
A quick thank you to Sir Jonny Ward for allowing me the pleasure of ARC reading for you once more.
Now on to the juicy sh**
I’m a sucker for a good short story I can consume in an hour or two. This one is now one of my favorites.
Who hasn’t felt the pain of a breakup of a relationship you thought could last forever? Or the pain of being stabbed in the back by your closest friends?
I think the power is this horror short is how relatable the situation our main character, Chris, finds himself in.
A fun revenge tale that I highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick read.
I also want to say, I would f’n love to see a follow up story to this.
Thank you for the opportunity to ARC read for you! Here we have a story that follows Chris in the aftermath of a break up with Stephanie! His mental health suffers and his “friends” don’t help the situation! Chris wants revenge on his so called friends and everyone goes down in a blaze of glory…or should I say Passion! I personally think that the story should’ve been a little longer to really delve into the psyche of Chris and the justification of his actions. That being said, it was a calculated take down of the guys! The writing style is first person and is really straightforward to read. Thanks again for the opportunity! I look forward to future work!
With friends like these, who needs enemies? 4.5 satrs Thanks, as always, to Jonny Ward for the ARC! On to the book!
Boy howdy, this scratched the itch of the vengance you want to inflict on bad friends. We've all had break ups that suck and we've all defintely been stabbed in the back by people we thought were our friends. What we don't get is satisfying revenge on said shitty friends.
A real quick read, I'm talkin like a hour, this novlette lets you vicariously let the intrusive thoughts win when it comes to your need for revenge. This was definitely on the tamer side of what I know Jonny can do, but I like to know an author has range!
We have all been down the painful road of failed relationships that we thought would last forever and fake friends that we thought would be our ride or die for the rest if our lives. But what happens when the breakdown of both happens around the same time? Do we keep our sanity and move on or do we burn it all down?
This book is a great example of how easily a mind could snap. Though i wish there was a bit more depth to the mmc's mental state to justify the ending, heartbreak though raw needed a backup. The book definitely still kept me interested from start to finish.
Thank you to Jonny for letting me read this early in exchange for an honest review. This was a quick read that had me hooked from page one and I read it in one sitting. This is the type of story where have all had the worst thing we can think of happen and figure out a way to move past. I think in this book, that is where the real horror lies, in how we handle what we have to go through. This one will make you think and feel and leave you wanting just a little bit more.
