In the battle of duty versus desire, only one can survive the hot Australian sunshine.

Elizabeth Langtree has her life in order – safe, organised, planned. Sure, she has her troubles, but they are nothing she can't handle. Then everything is turned upside down when her family send her to Australia to collect her orphaned nephew.

It all seemed so simple in New York, but Australia is nothing like she expected, and she soon falls under the spell of the Outback – the station, the lifestyle, and the seriously sexy owner who has been caring for Luke since the death of his mother.

Elizabeth soon discovers that what seemed simple a world away is anything but, and her duty is at odds with the dictates of her heart. She must choose, knowing that a mistake will not only cost her everything, but destroy the future of a devastated little boy.

Eva comes from a family of storytellers and has been writing her own stories since she could hold a pencil. Growing up in a multicultural neighbourhood in Melbourne, Eva developed her wanderlust and a passion for culture and language. She travelled the world, living in Britain before coming home to Australia to study Anthropology. Wanderlust got the better of her again, so Eva packed up and headed to Papua New Guinea to live and work where she was completely in her element. Eva's passion for the Australian country is born of her large extended family, which is spread out across the land. She volunteers at the local primary schools, teaching writing and working with children to incite a love of books and reading. Eva's books explore relationships, culture, our roles in changing society, love and loss. She loves finding connections with readers over shared experiences.

Red Dust Dreaming is about love, respect and family secrets. One day Corporate Lawyer Elizabeth Langtree ordered her parents to visit Australia to bring back her sister's child to New York. At first, Elizabeth Langtree, through the trip, will be only an overnight stay and fly back her nephew to New York the next day. However, Elizabeth Langtree soon realises that after arriving in Australia, it will not be easy to move the boy from the lovely family looking after him. The reader's of Red Dust Dreaming will continue to follow Elizabeth Langtree to find out what happens.

Red Dust Dreaming was the first book I have read of Eva Scott, and I will read another one of her books. I engage with Red Dust Dreaming from the first page, and I could not stop reading this book until the end.
I love Eva Scott's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine with each other throughout this book. Red Dust Dreaming is well written and research by Eva Scott. I like Eva Scott's description of Red Dust Dreaming settings that allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

The reader's of Red Dust Dreaming will understand the consequences of child abuse and neglect. The reader's of Red Dust Dreaming will also learn about the housekeeper's role in Australia's rural environment.

I recommend this book.

Eva Scott has become one of my "must-read" Aussie Authors and I am slowly making my way through her back catalogue.

This book was written about 7 years ago and I think what this book shows is how much her writing has evolved in that time. While I liked this book, it just lacked the finesse of her later books and the characters felt more like caricatures then fleshed out people. This book also had quite a lot of errors in the kindle edition so that took away from the experience.

The romance also felt a little forced and the character development a little jumpy and unbelievable, but I think that is probably more to do with the fact that this book was only about 150 pages long - so I think that is more an artifact of the length of the book.

This is by no means a bad book. In fact, I found it a sweet, light read that showcased the beauty of the outback. I also read it in one sitting. I think I am just in a reading downer and I am just desperate to read something that blows me away and while this was good...it was not overly memorable.

3 and a half stars. A good solid romance. A few too many editing issues for my liking. I wanted more commas.

Elizabeth's sister has left their dysfunctional family behind long ago, got married, got pregnant, got widowed, and moved to the Australian Outback. Now, word has come that she's dead, and Elizabeth's parents demand Elizabeth be the one to go to Australia and fetch their five-year-old grandson from the nefarious clutches of the rancher who's raised him and only wants the boy's money.

Yet when Elizabeth arrives, nothing is as her parents (and herself) imagined. Luke is a happy little boy, the rancher, Caden, is far from a money-grabbing monster, and Lizzie feels free for the first time in years. But a decision has to be made, putting many futures in jeopardy.

This one started off great, with a wonderful contrast between New York and the Outback, a cold family in name only, and one filled with love even without ties of blood.
Then it rather lost its way somewhere in the middle, and never regained the nice ground it had trodden at the beginning.

The story seemed a tad too long in some aspects (rediscovery of Lizzie's artistic streak, her inability to make a decision, her obscuring of truth, and her stubborn refusal to cut ties with her cage) and too short in others (the romance was rather far-fetched without much ground to be based on).

And while I liked the supporting cast (Caden, Luke, and Thelma), the heroine annoyed me beyond words in the second half of the story (read above). The "villain" was easily spotted, as was his motive, yet the idiotic heroine needed concrete proof smacked into her forehead to see reason.

The premise was good, so was the "backdrop" and characters, but sadly the execution was lacking.

I would have raved left and right about this book if it was longer. It felt a bit rushed to me. Things just happened way to fast and out of no where it was done. If the story line was developed more it would have made for a more well-rounded story. Instead of I was left with a lot of questions about the characters.

I was really shocked at the ending which is pretty much what gives the book the high rating from me. Elizabeth was an interesting character that had a lot of depth and certainly became more interesting as the novella moved along. I liked how Elizabeth went from being meek and rather quiet to totally coming out of her shell. She was even given a nickname.

I adored the housekeeper and loved how it was set in the Outback would love to read more books in the same setting.  The housekeeper completely took charge was basically who stole the book in a way. She was a busy body and wanted things a certain way.

The romance of the book was adorable but I really would have preferred more. I thought it was believable, it just needed a bit more dialogue between the hero and heroine.

Lovely romance. I really like the sense of atmosphere that the writer creates. One thing I was left wondering about was that Elizabeth's sister supposedly ended up working for Caden because she met his mother, yet his mother doesn't make an appearance in the story, just a vague mention of Elizabeth meeting her "one day". That should have been explained.

A fairly poorly written romance, but I’m a sucker for cattle stations in the Australian outback, so that drew me in. Elizabeth is sent to Australia to bring her deceased sister’s son back to his grandparents in New York. The contrast between the people and the places is fairly obvious and Elizabeth is captivated by the landscape, rediscovering her artistic self buried beneath the corporate city lawyer, her cute nephew Luke and of course the rugged station owner Caden. Light and obvious
