Her lips just barely moved, and I heard faintly on a breeze, “I will come back for you.”
David was looking forward to doing some hiking on his family camping trip. That is, until he’s lured into another world. Now he has to hike through the fae world, where fairies, hellhounds, and all sorts of magical creatures are lying in wait. These aren’t nice, fairytale creatures. No, everything here seems determined to kill David and his family. He has to escape this dangerous realm, but the one fairy that can help him may be the one that keeps him here.

The book was interesting and an easy read.
The author captured the true essence of the fae. She also was willing to give herself for someone she cared for.

New author a force to be reckoned with! Her first book is a joy to escape into. But you'll catch yourself thinking, too!!!
I've been waiting for this book for so long, but it was worth the wait! This isn't my usual genre to read at all, but this writer just captures your heart immediately by jumping right into the story and making you feel like you've been transported into their world. And wait until you meet Cearo . . . . . that's all I can say for now, but you won't be able to stop thinking about this character. The author uses a very clever mix of old mythology with totally current storylines. I really appreciated the writer's sense of humor, too. I found myself thinking "I love this!" quite often.
I purchased the book (on my Kindle) and stayed up reading it until I was done. The plot weaves in and out, intricately balancing the characters' perspectives, with an ending that just wowed me. I wonder how I can get the author to lock herself in a room until she gives us the next book? I need to know what she has in mind for these characters, but I guess I'll have some fun trying to imagine a few scenarios for myself (since I don' think it's legal to lock her up!).
One little thing I especially liked is that Ms. Kerr doesn't bog you down with endless detail, but instead gives you just enough to create the whole world of her story in your mind's eye -- just the way YOU need to see it to make it matter to you. She gives each character the dialog and actions that would be inherent in them; whether they be quite clever, somewhat awkward, a little "crazy", or more sweet-than-brilliant. And again, there's Cearo . . . . . . . OK. I'll stop! Just read this gem for yourself. You'll be the next Tarynn Kerr fan, hopefully for a long time to come.

Lure definitely wasn't what I expected. It had been on my TBR for a while, ever since I requested it, and when I realized I needed a review by the end of the month, I decided to start it. I didn't bother reading over the synopsis as I had a few months back, and so without really remembering what it could possibly be about I just dived right it. So I was pleasantly surprised when I realized it was about Faes. I honestly haven't read many books about them, but I loved all the ones I have read, from what I remember. And this one is hardly any different.
Lure may start off slow, but once it picks up it's a ride of intrigue, curiosity, action and a possible romance. It's full of secrets, powers, fighting, creatures like Unicorns, Kelpies (they're like horses, but they have fins on their feet and they can swim in water like fish!), Hobs (they're these tiny little brown people who live in the earth in these tunnels and they basically help clean and cook) and the likes. It was nice to get into a world like that again; they're among my favourites in books.

I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, the plot is quite interesting as it combines elements from what would be a classic fairy tale, and puts a dark twist on it. I loved the descriptions of the setting and the creatures that exist there.
On the other hand, I was not a big fan of the characters. The main character annoyed me and the fact that the book was written in first person did not help. I could do without his self absorbed rambles really. It created unnecessary scenes or exchanges that made the story drag (especially at the start of the book). I'm hoping to see him mature as the story goes on. Eric and his mom felt one dimensional and I wish they'd have a little more personality (aside from being reckless and an overprotective mom respectively). Cearo seemed like the only one who had a bit of character development. I look forward to knowing more about her.
I also wish that the author would try to "show" rather than "tell" us what was happening. It would be nice to really get lost in her world, rather than see what was happening from the outside.
Regardless of that, I will be looking forward to the next installment of this series. I was definitely not expecting that cliffhanger!

This was a fantastic book! For a debut novel, it doesn't get any better than this. I was hooked from the beginning. Tarynn is a great story weaver! I felt like I was really there experiencing everything with the the characters!
David is a baker. He has just graduated high school. He is planning on taking a few college courses locally, but otherwise plans on working in the bakery that his mom owns. The annual camping trip is coming up. David and his brother Eric are looking forward to it. Eric and David are splashing around in the river near their camp site when they are approached by someone that says he is camping on the other-side of the river. He tells them about some excellent hiking trails near by. Being lured by hiking trails different from the ones they do every year, David and his family sets out the next morning. The hiking trail leads to a fae world. David, his brother, and mom find themselves in deep trouble. What trials to the encounter trying to get back to the human world? Why is this world so interested in the trio?
This was an excellent book. I can not wait for the next one in this series!

Lure provides a glimpse into the world of the Seelie and tells us they aren't necessarily the good guys we've thought them to be. It's all a matter of perspective, and no matter what humans are not allowed. I was intrigued by the relationship (or lack thereof) between the courts, and how each one regarded humanity. Most of this story was a bit hollow for me, though I loved Cearo. The characters didn't draw a great deal of emotions from me, but I did become invested enough to read to the end, not expecting it to be a cliffhanger as it was. There could have been a lot more development for David, Eric and their Mom, and I would have loved the story had I known more about why things were so tense with the fae. The author was obviously a great fan of fairy stories, as am I, and I enjoyed the references to the old tales. In the end, I suppose this just fell a bit short for me, with very little in the way of detail and complexity, it was like staring into a pond and only seeing the reflection. I'd love to have gone deeper. 3 stars

...they went camping in Yosemite national park. (If only they ran into Yogi bear, which I think might be from yellow stone national park. Can't remember.) A hike that was suppose to be fun turns into their mothers worst nightmare.
Why was their mother always so paranoid? Siblings David and Eric wondered. Who is Boden? And why does he have the same wonderful green eyes as their mother? Who is Cearo? How does their mother know this woman with yellow eyes and raven black hair?

The author wrote in a level that appeals to a very large audience. Simple enough to keep even the scientific minds wanting to read more. Great mix of reality and fantasy. You don't know when the fantasy is going to emerge in the story. I loved every minute I spent reading it. Starts out with a time in peoples lives many can relate to. I will not go into details. I do not like spoilers. Have a nice relax and read a great book.

When David and his family set out on their camping trip, it seems like the normal trip. Then everything changes and they are thrown into the Fae world.
This book was all over the place. I read the entire thing and sat back and said to myself. What did I just read??

I loved this book. I love to read books where the characters come alive on the page so that is one reason why I enjoyed reading this book. David doesn't realize the world he will enter when he meets a stranger who invites him to hike on a trail. Secret. Danger. Adventure. I want to read the next book.

New author. It's a good start. It begins a bit slow but picks up and begins to flow further in. If the momentum carries, the next book should be even better.
