Summary:
Mia is totally in love with her kind, firefighter boyfriend, Leo. So, when he proposes, she is obviously over the moon and accepts! But something is bothering her about all this wedding planning... her whole family is butting in, and she just can't take one more moment of the wedding planner her mother so graciously thrust in her face.
At one time, Mia lived the lush life in L.A. mingling with Hollywood's elite, but now she has chosen a more tame life in England. When rock star, Dylan King, hires Mia as a ghostwriter for his upcoming biography, Mia is given a taste of her old life. Will Mia actually go through with this wedding to Leo, or will she decide that her old life is what she really wants?
Review:
This is one of the author's earlier rom coms, and I enjoyed the carryover of the character Dylan King, as I have already read Ex in the City, which actually highlights his life and romantic journey. This was actually kind of an unusual rom com in that the couple who is engaged is actually in love, and the story does not start out with a cheating scandal or a break-up. I enjoyed seeing how Mia and Leo's relationship had so many positives and that Mia needed to sort of go back to her past to understand what they truly had. Great story and if you read my reviews, you know I am a huge fan of Portia MacIntosh's writing style and her Happily Ever Afters.

This book was a charming, lighthearted rom-com that followed Mia as she navigated love, expectations, and finding her own version of happiness. It felt both charming and uplifting, with lovable characters and a storyline that balanced humor with heartfelt moments. Overall, it was an easy, feel-good read that left me smiling! 💌

Goodreads Review:
Never the Bride was an okay read for me. I liked the rockstar character the best, but overall the story never quite had the depth I was looking for. Some moments worked well, but other parts fell flat and didn’t have the emotional impact I expected. It wasn’t a bad book, but I finished it wanting more substance from both the characters and the story. I would've gone for 2.75 stars.

So this is actually like a second book with the same main character as a previous book of hers. I didn’t know this and it’s not advertised as that, but she kept talking about things that I remember from another book and was like “yep, this is her.” So it was almost like when you ask for a book with the couple happy/figuring out their new life together. More character growth and sweet moments and a crossover from a side character of one of/a couple of her other books too.

Loved the story and gave it four stars. I would have given it five stars but held one back due to the fact that I have listened to just about all of the books by this author and this was the only one that had in my opinion overuse of the F-word. I mean like… why?? It didn’t make it funnier. Take those out and it would be five stars.

Found it rather funny. Loved the narration. However think the Mia sacrificed her own happiness for that of others and wasn't particularly true to herself. She seemed to have to keep reminding herself she loved Leo.
Liked Leo initially. But think he was really a bit of a d**k.
