I've killed every man who's touched her. They'll make me hunt her before I can have her.
AXL
I saw Saylor Reign Carter three years ago at a gala on her daddy's arm and decided she was mine. I wasn't supposed to want her. I kill who they tell me to kill. I don't get to touch a woman until the hunt.
Four years of loyalty to the Ravens, and the body count is the only love language I'm allowed.
My little heathen likes to test me. She lets other men touch her knowing I'll make them disappear. She hasn't figured out yet what it means to be mine.
In three weeks I'm carrying her out of those woods while they all watch. She's going to wear my marks and learn what years of wanting her made me.
She will kneel and serve her king like the good girl she's meant to be.
SAYLOR
I chose to be hunted over going to auction. I'd rather run than be sold.
He kills men right in front of me. I should be horrified, but I'm not.
Axl Kade Hollister thinks he's the most dangerous thing in my life.
He has no idea.
The nightmares started years ago. I don't know what they mean. I don't know why I feel like I'm pinned down only to wake up terrified and shaking in my own bed.
Men in my world believe everything is theirs for the taking, but I've never felt more powerful than serving one of the most dangerous of them all.
The nightmares are getting worse. And I don't think they're just dreams.
I've never been safe.

Dahlia Vale writes addictive, dark secret society romances in the world of The Ravens, where alpha-holes seduce, power corrupts, and love always comes with a price.
If you’re into obsession, dominance, betrayal, and just the right amount of emotional ruin… you’re in the right place.
I would like to formally invoice Devour for the sleep, sanity, and rational thought it stole from me. This book doesn’t politely ask for your attention, it abducts it. One page becomes ten, ten becomes fifty, and suddenly you’re bargaining with yourself about whether dinner can wait until “just one more chapter.”
I opened this book with normal blood pressure. Now I can hear my heartbeat in my teeth.
Welcome to the Ravens: where power is inherited, loyalty is demanded, marriages are business deals, and survival depends on knowing exactly who owns whom. It’s dark, ruthless, corrupt and I ate it up like a starving Dove.
Axl? This man is a Talon counting down the seconds until he can claim the woman he’s been obsessed with for YEARS. Protective doesn’t cover it. Possessive? Absolutely. Patient? Only because the rules force him to be. Every chapter inside his head feels like watching someone hold onto their last thread of restraint before it snaps and he’s not sorry. And we LOVE him for it.
Saylor? She is not a fragile FMC. She refuses to shrink, refuses to be rescued, and challenges Axl every chance she gets. Together they’re combustible, addictive, and guaranteed to spike your blood pressure. I growled, laughed, and kicked my little feet the entire time.
And the spice? Dahlia Vale rewards patience like a religion. It simmers from page one, tightens with every interaction, and finally explodes in a way that makes every agonizing moment worth it.
We get more of the Ravens world....Talons, Doves, all the delicious corruption and now I’m feral for the next book.
📚Standalone (book 1 of The Ravens series) ✏️First person - Dual POV 🍆MF - Dark Romance
“I’ve k*lled five men for touching the woman I am not allowed to f*ck. And if I catch her with another one, I will make it six.” - Axl
These first sentences of the book set the pace for this thrilling and incredibly dark (in the best ways possible, of course) novel.
The first nice thing I saw when I opened it was the suggested playlist. I always listen to the playlist while reading, it keeps me focused and I like to feel the vibe from the author. And let me tell you this playlist had me save quite a few songs to my personal lists!
There are two pages, yep, two pages of Trigger Warnings at the end of the book, well detailed, that got me very excited to start reading. (Yeah, I’m that kind of crazy!) Since I wasn’t familiar (yet) with Dahlia’s Ravens’ universe, I was happy to find an explanation of the main concepts just before I started reading the book. It got me situated right away and ready to dive into the story.
Dahlia doesn’t beat around the bush with her writing. It’s fast paced and the action starts right at chapter one. I instantly got a good idea of Axel and Saylor’s personalities and the complications they face. The world Dahlia created is totally unhinged and deviant, and I often found myself questioning the reasoning of the characters, but it’s part of what makes her writing so good.
Saylor is the FMC and she doesn't take shit from anyone. She made it through this f*cked up world by doing things for herself, what, when and how she wanted before she got roped into the system, and even after. She is strong and smart until the very end and doesn’t suddenly get all soft and mushy, the kind of FMC I love.
Axl, the MMC, is obsessive with everything that concerns Saylor. He’s rough, stubborn, single minded, but throughout the novel, we got to discover the softer more romantic (but still perverted) side of him and it really got to me.
Add to these two the side characters and I was in deep! The friendship between Saylor and Kynlee is one every girl wants with her bestie: two girls that will love, support and have each other’s back no matter what. The dynamics between Axl, Priest, Kase and Crew is powerful and endearing at the same time. And let’s say it, behind the tough exterior and the erratic behaviours that hide all the dark twisted things these guys have been through the past 4-5 years, are goofballs that deeply care for each other.
By the time I reached 65% in the book, I had to push life aside and keep reading until I reached the end. I couldn’t stand putting the book down and not knowing what would happen, as even though the book is heavy on the s*x scenes, it’s also packed with action and plot twists.
I really, really enjoyed everypage of this book. I can’t wait to see what will come next in this series. It is a standalone that ends with a HEA, but we already know it wasn’t the end of the bigger story.
Oh, and one last thing… I’m claiming Priest for myself! I’ll be his willing dove at the next ceremony. I’m ready to fight you all for it! 🤣
This is one of those books that pulls you in, grabs hold, and leaves a permanent mark on your heart. The emotional roller coaster it takes you on is a wild ride, packed with highs, lows, twists, and turns, grabbing hold of you, making it impossible to put down.
You know that meme of Cillian Murphy looking utterly unimpressed? Yeah, that was the exact expression on my face anytime someone had the audacity to interrupt me while I was fully immersed within this story.
This book truly has it all. A secret society steeped in all the fucked-up depravity you’d expect from the genre. First, you have the Talons: men who spend years proving their worth to the Ravens just to earn a spot in their ranks. Then you have the Doves: women who volunteer to serve the Talons, their bodies becoming the property of whichever man captures them during the Hunt. Open only to those Talons who have proven their commitment to the Ravens, the Hunt culminates in the Dove being chased down, captured, then publicly claimed (it’s so hot. An exhibitionism wet dream).
Now that you have the basics, let’s talk about Axl and Saylor. This couple is hot AF. Axl is a true obsessive, possessive, “touch her and die” MMC, while Saylor is the ultimate brat FMC who craves every bit of the depravity Axl throws her way. The dirty talk in this book is next level and had me feeling all hot and bothered (My husband thanks Dahlia Vale). As a self-identified brat, Saylor’s antics and the resulting punishments were some of my favorite parts of the book.
The plot tackles extremely dark themes, highlighting a mission to try and eradicate the sex trade which has infested the Ravens. This took me on such a wild ride that I often felt like I was being thrown around by the Hulk, broken and irreparably changed.
There were other moments I wanted to throw my e-reader, or have words with the author (seriously Dahlia, why did you have to do Saylor like that?!). I ugly cried more than once, but I also felt utter delight when the antagonists finally got their comeuppance.
Eventually, I was relegated to a specific room in the house because my outbursts were "distracting" (insert giant eye roll).
My husband is definitely a saint for putting up with my unfiltered reactions. There was a moment when I paused, stared at him, and said, “If only we could hunt down our abusers, destroy them, and slowly torture them until they are deleted from existence.” He gave me a WTF look and said, “I love you, hun, but sometimes you're scary.”
Another time, I was screaming at my Kindle: “Yes! Don't be a dumb bitch, go back!! Seriously, you're killing me!” only to look up and see my daughter laughing at me. “You know the tablet isn’t going to talk back to you, Mom,” she said. (Yeah, she definitely gets her inner brat from me).
This romance is closer to the burnt side of dark. Its packed with all the depravity and fucked-up spice you could ask for. I suggest you have tissues on stand-by, because the emotional damage will leave its mark. I cannot recommend it enough!
I’d like to submit an invoice for the hours of sleep, emotional and rational thought that Devour quietly walked off with… because this book doesn’t ask for your attention.. no.. it steals it. One page becomes ten, ten become fifty and before long you’re negotiating with yourself whether that dinner you have to cook can wait until “the next chapter.”
Warning! I opened this book with perfectly normal blood pressure.. now i can feel every beat of my heart! That said…
Welcome to the Ravens… where power is inherited, loyalty is demanded, marriages are negotiated like business deals and surviving often depends on knowing exactly who owns whom. Their worlds dark, ruthless and deliciously corrupt… come join us Doves!
So there’s Axl… A Talon counting down the days until he can finally claim the one woman he’s been obsessed with for years and protective doesn’t even begin to describe him! Maybe… Possessive? Absolutely. Patient? Only because the rules force him to be. Every chapter your inside his head feels like watching someone cling to their last thread of restraint before it snaps… and he isn’t remotely sorry! But ohhhhh we love him!
And Saylor? She’s no fragile FMC waiting OR wanting to be rescued. She knows the world she was born into and refuses to shrink herself to make anyone comfortable and somehow manages to challenge Axl at every opportunity presented!
Together they’re equal parts combustible, addictive and guaranteed to raise your blood pressure… i growled, laughed and kicked my little feet with this one.
As for the spice… Dahlia Vale clearly believes in rewarding patience because it simmers from the very beginning and with every interaction it tightening the tension another notch until it becomes almost unbearable. When the it finally arrives, it feels explosive and worth every agonising page of anticipation.. though in true Dahlia Vale style we know its coming!
The book also shows us more of the Ravens (Talons and Doves) world.. so don’t worry cause your getting a great story that carries through their world.. which i am chomping at the bit for… next one please!!
Plot: This book is VERY appropriately named because I absolutely devoured it. 😂 Having already read the Sinclair Billionaire series, I was familiar with the Ravenverse, so getting more of this world was SO much fun. This was fast-paced, dark, and had me questioning my own moral compass more than once. The secret society, obsessive MMC, action, and foreshadowing kept me hooked. I'm SO glad this is only the beginning!
🖤 Characters: Saylor was great, but Axl? AXL FREAKING FED ME. 😂 This man absolutely earned a spot on my book boyfriend list. He is dominant, possessive, obsessive, and completely unhinged when it comes to Saylor. The fact that he had been watching her from a distance for YEARS while she unknowingly pushed every button he had? The yearning and care he showed her had me SWOONING. The things he does to keep her safe are borderline evil, but in the best way. 😉
🌶️ Spice: The spice was 🔥🔥🔥, but what I loved most was that it never overpowered the plot. This book gave me equal parts plot, spice, and foreshadowing, and I ate up every single piece.
✨ Ending: The story definitely isn't over, and I am VERY okay with that. 😂 There are still plenty of pieces waiting to fall into place, and I NEED to know what Dahlia has planned next. This was a full-course meal, and Axl absolutely fed me. 🖤
Please check your triggers before reading because this book contains some extremely dark themes.
Dahlia Vale has officially convinced me that I’ll read anything she writes.
If you’ve followed me for some time, you already know secret societies, morally black men, obsessive love, and enough red flags to decorate an entire city are basically my love language—and Devour fed every single one of those obsessions.
Dahlia Vale somehow managed to take everything I loved about the Raven’s world and make it even darker, more dangerous, and completely impossible to put down. The atmosphere is dripping with secrets, manipulation, power plays, and the kind of tension that had me questioning everyone’s motives … and honestly, that’s exactly how I like my dark romance.
The romance is deliciously toxic in all the best fictional ways. The obsession, possessiveness, and undeniable chemistry had me highlighting half the book. If your favorite book boyfriends are the ones who would happily burn the world down before letting someone touch “their” woman, you’re going to be just as feral for Axl as I am!!
This isn’t a sweet romance. It’s dark, messy, seductive, and unapologetically twisted. The emotional manipulation, constant suspense, and addictive pacing kept me saying “just one more chapter”!
For readers who love secret societies, morally black MMCs, “touch her and die” energy, obsessive devotion, and enough spice to fog your Kindle, Devour absolutely delivers.
This is book one of the Raven Series , but if you have read the Sinclair Billionaire series, you are familiar with the Ravenverse. This book is so intense I couldn’t put it down. And the emotional onslaught had me all over the place. Axl is the obsessed unhinged hero that I absolutely fell in love with. And his killings as a love language had me cheering and maybe that does say a lot about me but as you read the book, you’ll understand more. Saylor may be an attention seeking brat who already has all of Axl’s attention but when you read what this girl has been through her craving for Axl’s punishments makes sense. I ugly cried so much that I had to stay in my reading room. Also, in some parts I was extremely angry and may have taken that out on people around me. But whenever you can read something that is written so well that you become utterly immersed in that world you know that the writer is phenomenal and so is the book. I cannot wait for the next book. I am absolutely addicted. This may be past dark romance to more like charcoal, but this is one of those books that is never leaving your mind. There are not enough stars.
This book! I LOVED it! Often in the overall “romance” category (including dark, academia, romantasy, etc.) I find that the plot suffers for the spice or the spice suffers for the plot. That is not the case with Devour! The plot is plotting, and the spice is spicing! I love a “he falls first” and “OTTP.” I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t put it down other than for work (Ugh! Amiright?!). It was so much fun, the sexual tension was delicious, the characters will keep me company in dreams for a while, and I am really hoping for more in this storyline! There is a HEA, but also room for other characters to also find their HEAs. As with all dark romance, check your trigger warnings. There are quite a few in here. Favorite quotes: “I’ve got this sick feeling in my gut telling me she’s in that building doing something I’m going to make her regret.” “I file that away for later, knowing that my girl likes to be praised. I’ll make her the very best fucking good girl.” And any book with this “Breathe through your nose” in it, I’m all in!
Dahlia Vale is one of my favorite authors and if you have NOT read her books you are truly missing out. Not only is she an incredible human but her books are 🥵🥵🥵🥵.
Devour..what to even say about this book. Lets start off with the tropes: 🖤 TROPES 🩸 Secret Society 🖤 Dom/Sub 🩸 Touch Her & Die 🖤 Public Claiming 🩸 OTT Obsessive/Possessive Hero 🖤 Banter 🩸 Hunted & Must Serve 🖤 Trauma & Nightmares 🩸 “Little Heathen”
I was hooked from the dedication. "Kneel for your f*cking king, little heathen. You already know what the f*ck this is. Now be a good little s*ut while he devours you."
Axl was truly an incredible character, and sweet baby Saylor made him into a big soft teddybear.
I loved how much of a "hard *ss" axl was until his queen was threatened and hurt and then I WAS SOBBING for this man and his broken heart!
I am so excited to be apart of this team and see where this amazing author takes this new series.
Oh my God, Dahlia did it again. I absolutely devoured this book—I couldn’t put it down.
Devour takes us deeper into the Ravens world, where we meet Axl and Saylor.
Axl has been obsessed with Saylor for a long time, and he’s determined to make her his. Saylor is a feisty, vibrant FMC who knows all about Axl’s obsession—and she secretly enjoys watching him destroy anyone who dares to put their hands on her.
Beneath the addictive banter and undeniable chemistry lies a much darker story. Dahlia doesn’t shy away from the brutal realities of the Ravens world, exploring themes of family trauma, abuse, sex trafficking, and drug addiction.
The sexual tension between Axl and Saylor is absolutely electric, keeping me hooked from beginning to end. If you love dark romance with obsessive characters, high stakes, and an immersive criminal underworld, this is one you won’t want to miss.

Listen, I am a L.O.R.D.S. girly, and I needed to be fed! Axl absolutly fed me and so much more! This book was equal parts plot, spice and foreshadowing that I absolutely ate UP!
This is book one of the Raven Series , but if you have read the Sinclair Billionaire series, you are familiar with the Ravenverse.
Axl is our very dominant MMC who has had his sights sent on our FMC, Saylor, for several years. Watching her from a distance, biding his time, while she pushes every button she can of his along the way. The yearning, and the care he puts into his time with her had me SWOOOONING!
This book is action packed, the plot continues to thicken, and I assure you it does not stop in this book. Dahlia has more in store for this full course meal she is delivering and I can't wait!
First I will say that this book is properly named. I dove into this book without any context of previous work she had done. If you want fast paced and spice that will have you questioning your own moral compass then look no further. This has secret society and a stalker/obsessive MMC. Axl is dominate and possessive towards Saylor and the things he has done to keep her safe are borderline evil (in the best ways) 😉 this definitely has a similar feel like the Lords series but in my opinion has darker elements. The plot was very well executed and kept me wanting more. So glad this is just the beginning of the series because I can’t wait to see what Dahlia comes up with next. Be prepared to add one or 4 talons to your book boyfriend list.
Please check your triggers for this book as it has extremely dark themes.
Loved this book. I was a lil leary at first but once I started into it, there was a whole other way this went. Axl is obsessed with Saylor. So much so that he unalives anyone who so much as touches her sexually. She is just as obsessed as it turns her on when he does it. They both are born into a secret society where the rules are meant to be obeyed. He is part of the Talons who are jr Ravens and she will soon be a Talons Dove. Who's Dove??? Axl's, of course. Along the way she discovers that she has been being drugged and assaulted since she was a teenager. Secrecy, lies and betrayal all from within. But Axl and Saylor have a choice to over come and get their revenge or let it break them apart. The chemistry is angsty between the two at the start but the obsession turns into a possessive love that burns bright
Review... I have read every Dahlia has written so far. This Secret society, Wow, Omg 😲. The depravity of some people is shocking.
Axl and Sawyer are an amazing couple, she will do anything ro push his buttons and omg did i enjoy everything he did. Lol 😆
The story includes very dark themes, Axl is the perfect MMC, a stalker, possessive, deranged lol, obsessed, touch her and he unalives you. SO MUCH spice to fog your brain lol 😆
This book absolutely pulls you in and leads you on an emotional rollercoaster. The things Sawyer goes through had my jaw dropping. Cant wait for more from this author. Amazing 👏
God dang it Dahlia! Do I need to make a “Roman empire” list of authors? I mean I haven’t even made a “Roman empire” list of books let alone authors and now you’re on both!
I absolutely devoured Devour and loved each and every second of it! Axl made me never want to put the books down and kept me going - just like he does for Saylor! And Saylor just made me ache and hurt for her and then helped heal parts of myself I thought I had already healed (I tend to forget healing is a constant work in progress). I can’t wait for more book to add to my “Roman empire” and I’m looking forward to adding more books to my Dahlia Vale shelf!
Dangerously Obsessive So we already know the Ravens is a different society on a whole new level. This star Talon whew! Zoned in what he wants and does what he needs to. The Dove she definitely plays it her way knowing the repercussions. The Sinclairs sends the team in jobs to uncover the information they need on the dirtier goings on. In the midst not everyone is happy about the star Talon getting all the attention nor the Dove. Unexpected things happen and mysteries deepen. He doesn't play about what's his. Family is off the chain! Things get sticky with jealousy, betrayal now add some crazy and stir well.
Omg I literally could not put this book down. From the beginning it pulled you in and kept you in a chokehold. Axl is a zero F’s given MMC. He knows what he wants and absolutely no one will keep him from getting it. Saylor is one of the strongest FMC’s I’ve ever read. The things that girl dealt with and overcame is insane. There are plenty of twists and turns, lots of drama, quite a few jaw dropping moments and so so much spice. This is only the beginning for this series and if it’s starting out like this I can’t wait for the other books to come out. 💯 recommend.
First I want to say check the triggers. This is a dark romance for a reason. Now read the first couple of pages of the book so you will understand the hierarchy. If you don't mind not sleeping because you need to know what happens then this is the book for you. There is Axl a over possessive and obsessed man that is all that for Saylor. Saylor was born into this life but she is also a brat. She loves to push Axl. She got on my nerves but so did Axl. To me Axl was a little over the top at times but if you like dark romance with drama and spice this is for you.
Hot Damn Dahlia Vale has done it again! I liter got 3 hours of sleep max last night after binging this book. The wait and build up and teasers were so worth it. Axl would burn the world down for Saylor. But she's not a damsel in distress either. She can hold her own. Whoa the heat 🥵 🔥 in some of these scenes! Axl wanting her so badly after waiting so long and not caring he just got his next piercing. Like damn🔥! And so many unexpected twists. I'm literally chomping at the bit for the next book wondering whose story is next.
Holy crap , this book had everything, it litterly devoured me, the characters the secret society the spice it has it all. Dahlia has a fun fast paced way of writing and it really draws you in and makes you feel part of each scene, where other books dance round the darkness this dives right in. I don’t think I’ve rolled my eyes or said that’s nice so much as I did when anyone tried talking to me while I was reading this … just leave me to my book dammit . Can not wait for the next one my absolutely fav author now, can’t rate this high enough.
Little Heathen. Thats the best description Axl and Saylor. Wow, their love story,is a touch her and die. He has loved her for years couldn't touch her because of the rules but he would kill anyone that touched her literally. When he finally gets to have her he wasn't letting her go. All the twist and turns through this story had me in all this emotions. The Ravens, Talons and Doves this whole society you never know what's coming. The spice in this book is all spicy. The author keeps you interested in every page. Axl got the girl of his dreams and literally marked her everywhere to prove it.
If you enjoy Shantel Tessier then you'll definitely like this series. The obsession and lengths that Axl will go to for his little heathen is limitless. The plot line from book one to now keeps you intreagued and excited to read the next one! I love to delve into the world of the secret society and the rules the new generation is breaking to protect and love their women. I couldn't put it down!! I highly recommend going back and reading the first books to for immerse yourself in this world and understand all the back story! You will not be disappointed!!
I enjoyed reading Devour And OMG! It was soo good! Axl is a Talon under the Ravens. Saylor is a soon to be Dove. Theres Rituals & This secret society has rules. Those rules don't apply to civilians. There are operations that even The Ravens don't allow and now The Sinclair's have to work meticulously. I've read the Sinclair Series; I can't believe dane almost died! I was so heartbroken for Saylor. The book brought tears to my eyes twice. I can't wait to share it with the rest of the world.

An absolute page-turner from start to finish! The story hooks you immediately and doesn't let up. Axl's relentless, take-no-prisoners attitude is matched perfectly by Saylor's incredible resilience—she is truly one of the toughest FMCs out there. Add in a plot full of unexpected drama, shocking twists, and serious spice, and you have an unforgettable series kickoff. I'm completely hooked for future releases! I am so honored to be a reader for this author.
Just finished my first Dahlia Vale book and WOW! 🤩 This is easily one of my top reads this year, I absolutely devoured it. It's one of those books that grips you and makes you want to stay up until 3 AM to find out how it ends. Definitely an unforgettable story! The banter, the plot (oh, the plot!), and of course, the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵🔥. If you enjoy the L.O.R.D.S series, you will absolutely love this. I've officially found a new favorite author!
Devour absolutely lived up to its name because I DEVOURED this book. 🖤🔥 Axl and Saylor’s chemistry was intense, obsessive, and deliciously unhinged. The secret society, possessiveness, danger, and spice had me hooked from beginning to end.
Dahlia Vale continues to make the Ravens world darker, hotter, and even more addictive—and I already need more. 🖤
Dark romance lovers, you’re going to want this one on your TBR!
This book is a dark and fierce obsession for the main character. There is tons of spice level 5 of 5 for sure. The storyline is disturbing, but we know that going into this book with all the warnings. I love Azl with his deep obsession and love for Saylor. He is sexy and dominant. This is the second book that i've read by this author and I really like her story telling abilities and writing style. This book will not disappoint you. Enjoy!
This book was *chefs kiss*, when I’m telling you that the Sinclair men shouldn’t be fucked with, you haven’t met Axl. Axl is a Talon who works with the Sinclair’s. Saylor is a Dove and as the Ritual begins Axl is ready to pounce. I had SOOOO many questions about so many things and they were answered as I was reading. BUTTTTT I need more!

Wow, what a book. I absolutely loved this book, i really enjoyed the secret society trope and the characters were great. There were a couple of unexpected twists In there that made it even better. what an incredible book. I hope there is more to come in the series. One thing Dahlia does is write amazing books.
