An AMAZING follow-up from Mrs. Maureen Smith...catching up w/Quentin and Lexi and their SIZZLING relationship was quite ENTERTAINING...this story was also full of DRAMA with Quentin finally meeting his mothers side of the family...glad he was able to meet his cousins that had nothing to do w/the estrangement...and definitely NOT at all crazy about his grandmother...she was an AWFUL woman...this book also gave us a peak into possible upcoming treats with the Morehouse Nine and some of Quentin's cousins...I'm really looking forward to the upcoming books in this series...KUDOS Mrs. Smith...keep the stories rolling!

I have not enjoyed the last two books I've read by Ms. Smith. This story was just plain boring to me. I really like this author but for now, if I need to get a Maureen Smith fix, I will just re-read her earlier books.

Once again Maureen Smith has delivered!! "This I Promise You" was a follow up of "Tempt Me At Midnight" which is actually about my favorite Morehouse9/Honorary Wolf "Quentin Q Reddick!" It all started one New Years Eve when friends Q & Lexi became lovers and 2 years later their love & chemistry is even stronger.
Quentin lost his father at a crucial time in his life, so being raised by a single mother, his father's family and the Wolf clan Q do not need the love from his mothers family who disowned her for following her heart and loving Q's father. But 40 years later the Harrington's are back to right their wrongs which Mama Georgina is willing to accept however Q is not. Lexi being the loving & supportive wife attempts to persuade Q to let the past go and give the Harrington's a chance. Will HE DO IT????

I'm lusting over a new Reddick... green eyed Trajan
Asha is back and Asha is Asha, I love her
I always get excited when any of the Wolf Clan appear!!!1

What's next Maureen BRING IT ON!!!!

This is the first Maureen Smith book that I didn't throughly enjoy. There was just so much going on other than Quentin and Lexi's story. I found myself skipping lots of paragraphs because the story had so many lulls. I could have don without this update.

Quentin "Q" and Lexi are one of my all-time favorite couples!!! #Periodt

So we pick up where we left off from "Tempt Me At Midnight" by finding Quentin and Lexi enjoying their wedded bliss of two years and their beautiful baby boy "Quentin Jr."

Quentin has been in love with Lexi from the time they met at College, her in Spelman and Q at Morehouse. Best friends forever, Quentin longed for Lexi on the sidelines until their lips met one New Year's Eve at a Masquerade ball, neither knowing who the other was until the masks were removed. For Quentin this was it for him, Lexi, on the other hand, was mortified because how could she be so thoroughly moved by her best friend. And now here we are, they are happily married.

Quentin is living the life, he is married to his best friend, he has his Jr. namesake and his adoring mother, while dropping his son off to his grandmother, an unexpected visitor comes there and turns out it's his long lost uncle, whose family abandoned his mother when she fell in love with an outsider (not up to the Harrington pedigree). So for forty years, his mother has had no contact with any of her family and then her brother shows up. Quentin is furious and wants nothing to do with them at all, and want his mother to do the same thing. Quentin as far as he's concerened has an amazing relationship with his dad's family and that is the only family he needs. But Georgina believes it's time to bury the hatchet. Quentin is furious and it will be Lexi with her soothing balm that he will need.

Lexi stands with her husband but even she sees that his mother Georgina is going to need closure after the bitter estrangement from her family. This is why Quentin will never have another woman besides his Lexi.

Just like "Tempt Me At Midnight" is a constant re-read for me, so will their second story "This I Promise You" will also be on the re-read rotation.

Again they are my favorite couple of the Wolf Pack series. I also love Asha and Sterling Wolf, Sterling is the father of Marcus and Michael Wolf.

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao Bellas!

Another winner for Mrs. Smith. Her pen is lethal. Lexie and Quentin were scorching. This is such a wonderful treat to catch up with the wolf pack and their women. I look forward to the Morehouse Nine and what she has in store for Summer and Georgina (cousin). These men are such Alphas and it takes confident women to walk along their side. I love it.

This series is in a league of its own.

I do feel sorry for Celeste. Yes, she was wrong for the affair but men do it all the time to women. And wives suffer in silence and remain in miserable marriages. I don't know but I just don't like her feeling ostracized. If Asha is so secure with Sterling, why the spitefulness? I know majority of the readers love Asha but damn don't throw Celeste under the bus.

Please Mrs. Smith write fast. Money in hand for the next book.

Okay

I love following the characters but this story left me with a so,so same old attitude when it came to women wanting the Morehouse men. You need got give women some respect for themselves, not all women are gold diggers. There are some who have respect for themselves. Glad the men are loyal, but get over themselves already. As for Celeste, how come she can't be happy? Just because Stan was a Wolf doesn't mean another man couldn't out romance him. Let her and Grant have a life, she doesn't have to be punished forever for finding happiness. Let it go, Sterling is happy and let Celeste be happy, End that story line of those 4 by letting Grant continue to love Celeste. Your book series is great, do not belittle it by continuing to hurt a couple who lost one another and are now happy, especially at their mature ages.

Overall: 3.5 stars

Good writing as usual and I enjoyed catching up with Quentin and Lexi and what they have been doing since Tempt Me At Midnight but there were tooo many updates on other characters to the point I got overwhelmed. Also the conflict/resolution was not as strong as I am use to from M. Smith. I felt Georgina's story could have filled this book instead of the lil updates on all the other characters.

This book illustrates what Maureen Smith does best, tell a compelling story. It's the latest in book the Wolf Pack series which focus is on Quentin Reddick, friend to the Wolf men. The book has strong characters, sizzling sex scene and a storyline that moves at a steady pace.

Lexi and Q

I was happy to see Quentin and Lexi thriving. They are so in tuned to each other that they will remain a steady and lasting couple.
One small moment I'm interested in, was while in their Executive Suite at the football game, and the observation regarding how closely similar in looks were Quentin and Percy; even though they are not suppose to be related. Hmmm, I wonder what that's all about? Also one of the Morehouse Nine, Liam seems to be estranged from his current girlfriend, maybe Quentin Niece, Georgina, will be a likely love interest?
All in all, I'm looking forward to the follow on Wolf Pack and Morehouse Nine books.
This is such a well researched and excellently written series. Bravo Ms Smith.

I like the but Omg I didn't like the hate on celeste one bit, yes she cheated but she didn't marry for love and sterling knew. Also asha give me bad vibes and the men are bit misogynistic in their opinion but we still like them.
I think you should write a book on celeste, grant, asha and sterling solving their issue.
Celeste deserves to be loved too. Seeing that her true died in a crash and that's how she married sterling then found grant. I think this book is harsh towards her

Quentin and Lexi story was so good it's crazy how people go by pedigree.... how can you be better than other people cause you have money. I love how Quentin didn't play about how wife or his mom and definitely not his son, it took a lot for him to forgive his moms family after the way they disowned her for marrying someone who they felt was good enough. It all worked out well in the end

Great story

The wolf series is great but I am very disappointed that after we were given names and expected other books about this family and friends , the author just let us down by discontinuing this series of stories.

True Love

Love over time is well worth the wait. Quentin and Lexi had known each other since college. Everyone knew they were feelings there but them.
I loved the way the author intertwined the other characters into their love story.
Quentin is heritage was so interesting.

You know how back in the day you used to read romance novels that were just about the love. I mean it was little conflict but more so about the relationship aspect and the sex scenes were ones you had to share with your friends. These were the books with more creases and the topic of all phone conversations. That’s what reading Maureen Smith’s This I Promise You was like. This story is a sequel of her Tempt Me at Midnight story and a bridge to her upcoming spinoff series the Morehouse Nine. If you haven’t read the first story it’s not necessary the author provides enough details in this story so you won’t get lost with all the characters but I suggest you do because the series is just that good.

This book displayed black romance at its finest and made me as a reader want to be a part of the crew. I often joke with Maureen and tell her she as ruined me for other man with her Wolf Pack characters. And although Quentin isn’t a Wolf by blood the clan has adopted him and his mother as just another member of the long extended family. Quentin and Lexi were best friends turned lovers. The road to marriage wasn’t an easy one Lexi was stealing fighting the demons of her past i.e. her mother and no good ex-husband And, well “Q” was the ultimate golden eyed playboy but when its love its love. Cut to years later where this sequel takes place these two are married and going through the joys and woes of married life. Q has never known his mother’s Georgiana side of the family and when his mother’s estranged brother comes to visit things get shaken up quite a bit.

This book is low on the drama and a recap or long summary of your favorite character’s from her other series including the Brands and Harrington’s. I loved being able to catch up with some of my favorite characters. This book was like a big family reunion including that aunt and uncle who act up occasionally. The banter between Asha and Celeste was classic and oh so funny. One thing that is constant with Maureen books are her alpha males. These men love hard and play harder. Although Q and Lexi are married there is not a lack of spice in their relationship. Lexi is his rock and in the light of meeting his new family she holds him down and offers much emotional support. I felt this book was a great bridge story between this series and her upcoming series. If this is a sample of what’s to come I will be the one-click Queen. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

If you have read about the Wolf Pack and Morehouse 9, then you will be happy to read about Que & Lexi, not to mention the rest of the other characters.

This story tell you where this couple and all the other couples are in their relationship. It also gives you a glimpse into Quentin‘s parents, tell what happened to his Dad, the life choices his parents made, his Mom’s background. His mother is black elite from Savannah, Georgia and all that that entails. For his mom to choose his dad as a spouse was to go against the elite and how they choose marriage for their children based on the right pedigree. I love the scene with Q and his uncle Edward, who has a major crush on Angela Bassett because there was a woman he met in his past that he wanted to marry, but couldn’t because she wasn’t of the right pedigree. Later, you find out that this woman turned out to be successful and was married to a congressman. While he is married to his right pedigree wife with the right skin color, and the right background and still crushing. His family is aware of his crush on Angela Bassett.

Favorite scenes
The ladies time together in the spa and Samara talking about the annoying model that Marcus didn't even remember.
Asha letting Celeste know that Asha’s husband, Sterling who is Celeste ex loving has aged like a fine wine. Celeste made her choice and in the end she’s paying for it. At the end of the book, it hints at her and Grant’s marriage hitting some rocky patches. No sympathy for her. 😏
Que Jr. crying when he meets his great-grands and they thinking he's spoiled but babies are a great judge of character. He warmed up to the housekeeper and house manager laughing and cooing.
Quentin letting his grandparents specifically his grandmother have it especially for her snobbish inquiry into Alexis's life and background even though she know everything.
Quentin handling the office paralegal who thought she could earn some gains on her knees or back. He checked her so hard and then fired her. That woman didn't realize he was recording her. She got her lazy and thot behind handed to her.
Quentin telling Lexi he will burn his mom's family life to the ground if they hurt his mama.
Quentin knocking out Lexi's ex husband for his blatant disrespect. Quentin handed that man his a**.

This was such a fun read and I love the Wolf Series and spin-offs.

Every now and then there comes an author who truly has the gift of the written word.  A gift so profound that you know no matter what words she puts to the page, it will wrap you into a story so amazing it will make you laugh, cry and curse...sometimes within the same chapter.  Maureen Smith is such an author.  She has an awesome ability to weave a story and series that will wrap you into their world from the first word to the very last.  While her stand alone novels are enjoyable, it is her continuous series where you see her talent blaze to life.  Not only does she have the ability to weave together one series but the rare talent where she can take three or more separate series and connect them to one another that is seamless and believable.  She introduces you to a world where you can put your problems aside and immerse yourself into a world that will leave you with a smile on your face.

This I Promise You is a follow up novel continuing the story of Lexi and Quentin from Tempt Me at Midnight.  And tempt you she has, and  will make you fall in love with Quentin all over again. Not only does this book give you some more insight into the lives of Lexi and Quentin, but also the other Wolf Pack and Morehouse Nine members. And as is Maureen Smith's way, she gives you hints, clues and innuendos of what is to come with the remaining members who have yet to find their HEA.  LOL, and she even invited her sister Naomi Chase in to drop a hint or two.

This was a wait that was once again well worth the angst of having to wait for it.  Maureen will always leave you waiting anxiously for her next release but each and every time it is worth the wait while you beg her to drop you a tease to hold you over until release day.  Now the wait begins again...

CONCEPT
The sequel to Tempt Me at Midnight and the latest update in the Wolf Pack series

STORY
In this steamy sequel to Tempt Me at Midnight, Quentin and Lexi Reddick are enjoying a life of wedded bliss. They have everything they could ever want and their love is stronger than ever, proving why best friends make the best soul mates.

But when a stranger from Quentin's past appears unexpectedly, old wounds are reopened, forcing him to confront the family he never knew. As his anger threatens to consume him, Lexi hopes her love will be enough to teach him the healing power of forgiveness.
CHARACTERS
Readers will fall in love all over again with Quentin and Lexi Reddick. Mrs. Smith did an outstanding job with character development. Readers meet back up with this couple six months after the birth of their son. Readers will experience the anger Quentin feels toward his mother’s family at the way they disowned her for marrying his father. Quentin is protective of those he loves and when he loves he loves hard. Readers will get a glimpse of how deep his love ran while listening to his friends reminisce about their college days. Lexi is still the strong independent female who now has the loving husband and family she wanted. She is on the road to mending her relationship with her mom and readers will see that growth.
DIALOGUE
The dialogue was engaging and appropriate for the storyline. Readers will thoroughly enjoy the scenes with the Morehouse Nine and the brunch scene.
STRUCTURE
Structure well-developed and involved realizing family will always be there.
OVERALL
I loved catching up with Quentin and Lexi as well as the updates on the Wolf Pack and Morehouse Nine. I have always enjoyed reading books by Maureen Smith and This I Promise You was all it promised. The story flowed and kept readers engaged in the drama unfolding with Georgina’s family. Seeing Lexi and Quentin’s love grow was an added bonus as well as catching up with the Wolf brothers. Mrs. Smith also set the stage for Percy and Summer’s story. Overall, this was a wonderful read.

I loved everything about this book!

No unnecessary drama between Lexi and Q, they are just living, loving and doing their thing. And the baby sounds adorable!

I really liked the relationships between the women; the brunch scene showed that off to perfection. There is no jealousy between them, they are supporting and uplifting each other. Well, except for crazy a** Celeste, who is having trouble sleeping in that hard bed she made for herself. SMH.
Thanks for showing sisters in such a positive light!

I loved seeing the Reddick family; it was good to see that Georgina and Q had such a wonderful support system. I didn’t think I would enjoy seeing the Harrington family, but I’m glad we did. The elders are a mess, but everyone else seems to be good people. Can’t wait to see what happens with Georgina Jr.’s character and who she ends up with.

And spending time with the "Pack Nine" was especially wonderful. I can't wait for their books to start rolling out! Those men are too much!

Best of all, we got to see Q get a couple of licks in on Adam McNamara. He's been waiting for that for a long time, and I'm glad he got a little taste of him - and in front of his new woman, LOL!

So happy that this turned into a full-length novel, instead of the novella that Mrs. Smith had planned to write(which no doubt, I would have enjoyed!). It was wonderful to catch up on all the couples and their growing families, and definitely whet my appetite for all of the upcoming books.

Keep doing your thing, Mrs. Smith, and I will keep buying whatever you put out!

This novel makes you wanna break out and sing or do a two step. The love that Quentin has for Alexis is phenomenal and she returns that love. Even with this visit, the book is pretty low on drama. It served as a family reunion of sorts as we got caught up with some of our favorite couples. This I Promise You serves as a bridge novel of sorts to her upcoming spin off series which will feature more of the Morehouse Nine. I look forward to that series and more books from Smith. While you don’t have to read any of the previous books in this series as the author provides enough details, I would suggest reading at least Tempt Me At Midnight. Wait, who am I kidding? I really want you to read the whole series. So while it is not necessary, please read Treacherous when you get a chance and work your way down.

Quentin is my second favorite man of the Wolf Pack series. The love that is shared between him and Lexi stands the test of time. No matter the obstacle or temptation presented to the couple, they instantly know how to support one another to see their way through or past it. It was good to get the updates on the other members of the Wolf Pack and the Morehouse 9 as well as their extended families. I love me some Mama Wolf! Finally, learning a little more about Georgina's "upper crust" family was interesting -- those "well to-do" folks are something else! Can't wait to read more about Georgina's life, her niece and namesake's life, and that of Summer and Percy! Please hurry Maureen Smith!!

I enjoyed reading the sequel to Tempt Me at Midnight Lexi And Quentin. Wow, didn't know that Q had such a temper. Wouldn't want to get on his bad side.
Loved all of the updates on the Wolf pack and the mention of Brandon Chambers ad Royce Brand.
A lot of name dropping in this book with the mention of Mama Wolf, Brandon and Royce.

Will we find out in a future book that Uncle Edward and his true love the one that got away had a child that uncle Edward did not know about and could that child possible Jagger and Quentin and Jagger are cousins since everyone says that look so much a like and could pass for brothers? Very interesting.

What a great sequel to Tempt me at Midnight. Quentin and Lexi are as tight as ever. However both are challenged with some family issues. Lexi stands by and up for her man in a very challenging situation. Her sister Summer is about to indulge in a life changing relationship. Quentin's mom has to face her past and some very deep hurts. I laughed and cried but it was worth it...

Ms. Smith, thank you and I can't wait to hear more about the sexy Morehouse Nine...Keep the great work coming...
Wish there were more strong Black men in real life like these in your books..
