This is my review of Where She Rests.
Mary fell asleep on the couch waiting for her fifteen-year-old daughter, Leslie to return home, from working at a local bakery. She calls her only to get voice mail. Mary then calls Claire, the owner of the bakery, and Claire heads over to the bakery to check on both girls, Leslie and Faith that work there.
When Special Agent Nikki Hunt walks into the local bakery, she finds Claire and boyfriend, Mark in tears, and both young girls dead…shot execution style. Nikki immediately panics as she hears Stillwater police whispering that her brother-in-law, Mark, might be the killer…
There were no cameras or witnesses and no obvious motive for the brutal killings.
Mark was a convicted felon who had been wrongfully imprisoned who Nikki had proved he was innocent of murder, and now she feels that he’s innocent once again.
Evidence shows that a homeless teen, Isla, came to the bakery before closing and was befriended by Faith and Leslie. Isla is the thread for solving the murders.
Nikki begins a desperate search to find Isla who had disappeared from the scene. Was she a victim or a suspect?.
And then Nikki receives a distressing call… another body had been found.
Nikki must hunt down the murderer before another life is lost.
This is a brilliant crime thriller that had me flipping the pages until the final twist. Another winner!

Another adrenaline rush from Nikki Hunt. This time her brother in law’s girlfriend calls with an emergency. Two teens are found murdered at her bakery late at night. There’s nothing in the girls lives that warrants them being murdered. Nikki is at her usual relentless pace of untangling the mystery. Lies, corruption, and a fast paced story will leave readers breathless till the heart stopping ending. Another fantastic book by Green.

First, I love this series! The FMC, Nikki, is pretty badass. I love that she is such a mom but also an amazing FBI agent. She always finds the perp and it’s always exciting and full of action getting the mystery solved. You think you have an idea of where it’s going and then it veers off and totally changes. I’d totally recommend this book to others 😊

A Homeless Girl in Hiding Is The Key
It is bitterly cold. Isla’s thin jacket does little against the bitter wind. She enters a parking structure and finds a concrete pedestal to sit on and eat her cheeseburger. A car pulls in and parks. A woman steps out, leans against her car, and scrolls on her phone. Another car drives in and parks next to her. She is reluctant to get in, but does. Isla can't hear the conversation, but the woman starts to point her finger at him. The man quickly hits her hard. He gets out and walks to the passenger side. He opens the door. Then he adjusts the seat of the unconscious woman. He picks up her phone with his jacket sleeve, takes it, and drops it in a trash can.
There are two main storyline threads. The first is the murder of two teenagers closing a bakery in Stillwater. SA Nikki Hunt is asked by her dear friend, the bakery's owner, to come to the bakery. The difficulties begin immediately when the responding officer starts treating Nikki’s brother-in-law as a suspect. His behavior continues through most of the novel. Once the Stillwater detective, Lt. Chen, arrives. Nikki has worked with him before. She offers her help, and Chen accepts. She actually conducts some interviews for Chen, but come Monday morning, Nikki’s boss talks to her about a call he received from the Stillwater Chief of Police. That throws cold water on her help on that case, even though she had made an important discovery. Nikki soon receives a request for assistance from Washington County Sheriff Miller. He had discovered a mummified body of a woman in a remote cabin. Miller believes he knows the victim's name. Surveillance video from the location where she parked her car shows a witness. The last thread is the homeless teenager as she tries to evade the killer, and she knows who he is, and he knows who she is. From here, the main storyline kept my interest with some excellent twists and turns. The tension is maintained by whether the homeless teenager is now in the clutches of a killer. The story flowed at a comfortable pace, easy to read and follow.
This novel is the twelfth novel in the Nikki Hunt series. So, for me, most of this aspect was seeing a C-storyline about how her and Chen’s relationship changes as they work under the new Chief of Police. If this is the first novel, there is adequate insight into Nikki’s relationship with her husband, daughter, and, especially, her brother-in-law, in which she played a major role in his conviction for murdering her parents and in proving his innocence and release from prison. The major interactions with her boss, Sheriff Miller, and Lt. Chen are sufficient to understand how her character relates to them. This aspect of the novel enhanced my enjoyment.
The potentially offensive aspects of this novel are very minimal. There are no intimate scenes. The objectionable language occurrences are few. Most of the violence is described during the initial crime scene observations and autopsy reports. In the few instances of violence, descriptions are just long enough to convey the action.
There were no aspects of this novel that reduced my enjoyment while reading. I enjoyed how the author connected two crimes through a single witness. This fact was used to keep the tension high because she appears to have been taken by a person suspected of killing before. Another novel-long aspect that kept me locked into reading this novel. There were no loose ends at the end. The author is on my Must-Read list. I have read the whole series to date. Each one is fresh and new, yet solidly entrenched in Nikki Hunt's character. I have purchased two other series to read. I am looking forward to the next novel in this series, as I have not had enough yet. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and rate it five stars.

I've read all of the Nikki Hunt books and will continue to as long as Stacy Green keeps writing them. Nikki is the best. So strong and take no crap bad....
When three young teens are brutally murdered Nikki makes it her mission to find the killer. Two of these young girls worked at the bakery she frequented. Shot execution style. Nothing missing. Except a possible third girl. A runaway. A street child. If she is alive Nikki will find her.
Back when Nikki was a teenager her parents were brutally murdered. An innocent young man was sent to prison for it. Nikki truly thought he was the killer. He was released after the true killer was found and brought to justice. The innocent young man is now Nikki's brother in law. He's just about the kindest person ever. But he is taken in again. A possible suspect in the murder of the two young girls in the bakery. Nikki comes to his defense...
This story has many twists and turns. A few suspects. Don't even try to figure out who the murderer is.. You won't guess. I thought I had it all figured out. I was wrong. I'm glad I was wrong but I still didn't like the one I thought was the killer. He was a jerk.
I love almost all of the characters in this series. They start to feel like friends after a while. This one kept me reading all day. I didn't want to put it down. I wanted so bad to know who the killer was and why. Why he killed the two girls in the bakery.
All questions were answered and I finally released a held breath right before the Epilogue... Once Nikki woke up and Rory could breath again I was happy. Now I can't wait for the next book. I'm wondering how Stacy will top this one. It was perfect.

Woohoo!!! Stacy Green has delivered another thrilling, gripping, suspenseful, mysterious, and addictive book in her riveting Nikki Hunt series!!!!!!! I was instantly drawn into this book and tried to do my best to figure out whodunit! In Where She Rests, Special Agent Nikki Hunt is relaxing at home with her family when she receives a frantic call from Claire, her brother-in-law, Mark's girlfriend. Claire just made a horrific discovery at her bakery - two of her teen employees have been murdered! She immediately jumps into action helping the Stillwater police department with their investigation while trying to make sure her brother-in-law, Mark, does not become the chief suspect. When she is not trying to clear Mark, she is searching for a homeless teen who had been seen at the bakery and is now missing.
As with the other books in the series, I enjoyed Stacy Green's wonder writing and well thought out plot in Where She Rests. This book shows Nikki wrestling with her feelings as she deals with the murder of the teen girls and the plight of the missing teenager. I love how Stacy Green writes Nikki to be both tough as nails and vulnerable. I also enjoy the balance of Nikki's investigative work and Nikki's personal life. The supporting characters are fantastic as well.
This book is brimming with tension, suspense, danger, twists, and great detective work. I also love the character development and seeing Nikki's daughter grow and mature. This book series is fantastic, and I always get excited when I see that Stacy Green has a new book coming out! If you have not read a book by Stacy Green, you are missing out. When Nikki walks into a local family-owned bakery one night, she encounters a horrifying scene. The owner, Claire, is distraught. Two teenage girls, both teenagers, are dead, shot at point-blank range. Nikki is there because Claire called her, panicking and grief stricken. Now she learns that her brother-in-law, a man she once helped put in jail for murder he did not commit, is being accused once again.
Because Mark is Nikki's brother-in-law, the local cop in charge doesn’t want Nikki anywhere near the case. Why should she – or anyone in the FBI – be involved? His superior officer agrees that Nikki’s involvement could be perceived as a conflict of interest, but he welcomes her assistance provided someone else interviews her family members. Stacy agrees. She’s been around the block more than a few times and wants to do things the right way. She runs things by her superior officer and the local chief every step of the way. If I have any quibbles at all, it’s that there are a few too many references to stale coffee in all those cop offices. A very minor complaint.
What we see in this story appears to be complex. There is a young girl missing. Nikki wonders - was she an innocent witness, or was she an accomplice? The two girls who were killed had befriended her, and Nikki needs to find her. There are several suspects, but one by one, they are apparently ruled out. Just when there seems to be an obvious suspect, Ms. Green throws us a big curve ball. That’s when things get quite tense. It’s like having the bases loaded with two out in the ninth and the star player at bat. Suspense? Oh yeah! Big time. Hold on to your hats!

The twelfth book in the Nikki Hunt series opens with a heartbreaking tragedy. Nikki is called by her friend Claire, who is in a state of sheer panic after discovering the bodies of two teenage girls who have been brutally murdered in her bakery. Although the local police are already on the scene, FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt is there first and foremost to support her friend. Before long, however, she finds herself leading the investigation into the horrific crime.
Claire has been dating Nikki’s brother-in-law, Mark. Readers of the series will remember that Mark has a troubled past, and Nikki once fought tirelessly to prove his innocence. Unfortunately, many people in the Stillwater community have never let go of their suspicions. So when the two girls are murdered, Mark quickly becomes the initial suspect. Nikki has no doubt that he is innocent, and she is determined to uncover the truth before an innocent man is blamed once again.
As Nikki digs deeper into the investigation, she uncovers a disturbing secret. A homeless teenage girl had been secretly sleeping inside the bakery, but she has suddenly vanished. Nikki fears the worst. Has the girl become another victim, or did she witness the murders and is now being hunted by the killer?
When another body is discovered, it becomes chillingly apparent that the murders are part of a much larger and more sinister plan. The entire community of Stillwater is on edge as Nikki races against time to stop the killer before anyone else loses their life. At the same time, the case hits especially close to home. As the mother of a teenage daughter, Nikki cannot help but worry about her own family, making her urgency to solve the case feel even more personal.
Once again, Stacy Green delivers a gripping police procedural filled with emotional depth, compelling characters, and plenty of suspense. Nikki has no doubt that he is innocent, and she is determined to uncover the truth before an innocent man is blamed once again.
As Nikki digs deeper into the investigation, she uncovers a disturbing secret. A homeless teenage girl had been secretly sleeping inside the bakery, but she has suddenly vanished. Nikki fears the worst. Has the girl become another victim, or did she witness the murders and is now being hunted by the killer?
When another body is discovered, it becomes chillingly apparent that the murders are part of a much larger and more sinister plan. The entire community of Stillwater is on edge as Nikki races against time to stop the killer before anyone else loses their life. At the same time, the case hits especially close to home. I'm fully aware that I say it every time BUT this has easily reached the dizzying heights of top spot! The adrenaline this book gave was just mind blowing so it obviously slots straight into my top reads of the year!
First off, characters.
Nikki Hunt is the epitome of bad ass Mumma, proving time and time again that women can pretty much do anything, even though, like all working mothers, she carries that mum guilt, even more so when on a daily basis she literally puts her life on the line.
I really enjoyed getting to know Kendal's character and personality more in this story. She's a great asset to the team and adds a new dimension to the team that already feels like a family.
In book #12, yes you read that right, Nikki's good friend Claire's bakery is the scene of a horrific murder. Two young girls, assistants at the store, have been brutally gunned down and their bodies left in position on the floor. On viewing the CCTV, another girl is seen entering the store but not leaving. Where is she? Is she another victim or was she part of the slaying of these two innocent girls?
When Claire's partner, who also happens to be Nikki's brother in law, is arrested, Nikki steps in. Butting heads with the new detective, she knows she has to rein herself in to stay on the case but Nikki is never one to shy away from what she knows is right. When her partner Liam returns from honeymoon, he joins Nikki & Kendall in trying to unpick the many leads that they seem to have, but nothing is leading them down the right path. Can they piece everything together in time or will they be faced with another victim?
I was utterly riveted from the very first page and couldn't bare to put it down, trying desperately to figure out the 'whodunnit'. Full to the brim with suspense, tension, mystery, twists and obviously amazing team work. This tale actually brought emotions to the forefront and sat with me for days afterwards.
Stacey Green has a magical wonder in her writing style and has a true gift of grasping the reader from the get go. I cannot wait for the next installment!

Where She Rests
is the twelfth book in the Nikki Hunt series. In this story, Nikki’s friend Claire calls her instead of the local police when she finds two of her teenage employees dead at the bakery. Nikki soon hits a brick wall with a new member of the Stillwater Police Department, who accuses her of protecting her brother-in-law because they believe he may be involved, even though he was cleared of any wrongdoing in the past.
For the most part, this is an exciting story. I enjoyed the procedural aspects of the investigation as well as the family updates, especially seeing Lacy, Nikki’s daughter, growing up. I love Rory, Nikki’s husband, and Liam, Nikki’s partner. I also enjoyed the quest to find the missing girl and Nikki and her team’s investigation into whether she was another victim or somehow involved in the murders. Nikki worked with Kendall, a junior agent, while Liam was on his honeymoon. She is an interesting new character.
I have one major pet peeve when it comes to police procedurals: stupid cop decisions. I don’t understand why Stacy Green has her cops carefully follow protocols and make sure they have backup in certain situations, only to have them throw all of that out the window when the climax approaches and decide to visit a witness or suspect alone. Needless to say, this leads to yet another near-death standoff or injuries.
At this point, I’ve read enough of these “stupid cop moves” in the series that they’re starting to lose their effectiveness for me. Green needs to find some new ways to build tension because I’m pretty sure most readers are already yelling, “Don’t go in there alone!” at the page.
I love it when Kindle Unlimited includes both the ebook and audiobook. I make my notes and highlights in the ebook, while the audio allows me to multitask. Kate Handford is an excellent storyteller, and I love the way she brings an additional dimension to the story. She really has become the voice of Nikki Hunt in my head.
Despite my frustration with the predictable bad decisions, I’m still enjoying this series and will definitely be continuing with Nikki and her team.

Where She Rests by Stacy Green is the 12th in the FBI Agent Nikki Hunt series.
Let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author (Stacy Green), for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I think this is the first time I have disliked Nikki. It's one thing to be determined, and even aggressive in her assumptions, but her attitude sucked. As well, I was dismayed at her parenting skills as a mother. Her daughter should never have gotten away with her comments at her grandfather's birthday party. There is a right time and a wrong time for certain discussions, and she should have been made aware of that. Again, I agree with her assessments, but her parents should have shut down the conversation for later. As well, the argument between Nikki and Rory was interesting, and Rory apologized when I didn't think he really needed to, but Nikki definitely should have, and didn't.
Moving on....Talk about repetitive. At least three men had messy hair that looked like they had repeatedly dragged their fingers through it.
Now, for the good parts. The plot was great, really interesting. It was fast-paced, and had plenty of action. A number of twists had me circling. There were a lot of suspects, and the actual culprit was a surprise to me...which is always fun. It kept me invested from start to finish.
So, although I had some serious concerns wit this one, I still recommend this series - as long as you read them in order.

Another great installment in the series. I loved that Nikki’s backstory played a part in this with family being a little integrated into the case. It made more of a connection between the personal aspects and the case. That is one of the things I love about the series. Nikki is a well rounded character. I see her work life balance and she is both tough at work but also doubts at times. This makes her relatable. The flaws make her seem more human.
The case is interesting and fast paced. It has many suspects in many directions and not only is it twisty, but I was surprised by the ultimate killer. I’m not usually too surprised because I suspect everyone, but this one caught me off guard.
Two dead girls and a missing girl make the story a little emotional. Especially with the connection to so many characters. I loved that with Liam still on leave, Nikki gets a chance to work with Kendall and we see a new relationship forming. I also loved seeing Liam’s protective side when the case takes a dangerous turn.
Overall I finished in about a day and enjoyed every minute of the book. The investigation kept me guessing, but it was the character relationships that elevated this one for me. Seeing how far Nikki and those around her have come over the series added real emotional weight to the story.

Really excellent, thrilling addition to a great series set in Minnesota. FBI investigating agent Nikki's family and her teenage tragedy are wrapped up in the start of a tragic double homicide investigation with innocent teens as the victims and a homeless girl as the missing key to the mystery of the attack. The case is complex, with an extra murder victim discovered and added to the mix, but not too much to follow.
I loved the way the author used a half dozen or so flashbacks to build a picture of the victims in the months leading up to the tragedy. And there's an interesting red herring character that I mistakenly tarred with culpability: I liked that twist a lot. The climax is pure adrenaline rush and proves Nikki has survival instincts and physical reserves for miles!
This was a two sitting read: my interest never flagged. And while I typically prefer novels in this genre to have less concentration on personal life, most focus on the crime case investigation, here bringing Nikki's extended family integrally into the main story really worked for me.

Where She Rests is the 12th book in the Nikki Hunt series, and while it can absolutely be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading the series in order if you can. You’ll get so much more out of Nikki’s personal journey and the relationships that have developed along the way.
This was another fast paced, twist filled, missing person/murder mystery that kept me guessing until the very end. The case is packed with lies, corruption, and plenty of suspects, making it nearly impossible to predict what was really going on.
One of my favorite things about this series is Nikki herself. She’s a total badass when she’s working a case, but she’s also vulnerable and incredibly relatable. I love that the books don’t focus solely on the investigation, and we also get to see her home life and the people she loves, which makes her feel like a real person instead of just another FBI agent.
I’m always impressed by how Stacy Green balances the procedural with the emotional moments, and this one was no exception. If you’re looking for a gripping FBI thriller with plenty of twists, this series is definitely worth picking up. I can’t wait to see what Book 13 has in store!

It's always a pleasure to return to Nikki Hunt and her team. After following this series for so long, the characters feel familiar, and I enjoy seeing both the investigation and their personal lives continue to develop.
I especially liked that this case hit close to home. Having Nikki's brother-in-law become the prime suspect immediately raised the emotional stakes and made the investigation even more compelling. The mystery itself is gritty, well-plotted, and full of tension, with enough twists to keep me guessing.

It’s not just Nikki who grows with each book, Rory, Lacey, and the rest of the core cast evolve as well, making it feel like you’re catching up with people you’ve come to know and care about.
This installment definitely didn’t disappoint. The tension was high, the stakes felt real, and the investigation kept me invested from start to finish. One thing I especially noticed was that the ending felt faster paced than some of the previous books, which made the final stretch incredibly engaging and hard to put down.
The reveal of the villain was also different from what I expected, adding a fresh twist that kept the story from feeling predictable.
Overall, Where She Rests is another strong addition to the Nikki Hunt series. If you’ve been following Nikki’s journey from the start like I have, you’ll appreciate both the continued character growth and another suspenseful case that keeps you guessing.

This is another exceptional read! I was captivated from the very start. It’s hard to believe this is the twelfth book; the series continues to improve with each instalment. Where She Rests is another strong addition to the Nikki Hunt series. From the opening chapters I was completely drawn into the investigation, especially as this case hits so close to home for Nikki when her brother-in-law, Mark, becomes the prime suspect in the murder of two young women in a local bakery.
I liked how the personal side of the story never overshadowed the investigation. Nikki is such a likeable lead and I always enjoy the dynamic between her, Kendall and Liam as they work through the evidence. The missing homeless teenager added another layer to the mystery, and there were enough twists and red herrings to keep me guessing.
The balance between the crime itself and the ongoing development of the characters is one of the reasons I keep coming back to this series. Fast-paced, engaging and easy to get lost in, this is another enjoyable read from Stacy Green. I’d happily recommend it to crime thriller fans.

When Nikki Hunt realizes there might have been another young girl in that room, the race is on and time is not on their side. What I loved most about this book was its relentless pace and the suspense, which never lets up from the very first page. Stacy Green does a fantastic job building a claustrophobic atmosphere by capturing the small-town mentality, distinct mindsets, and the complex, realistic politics between the local police and the FBI.
The stakes get deeply personal when Mark becomes the obvious suspect. I loved Nikki’s fierce determination to prove his innocence and protect him, all while trying to help her friend Claire find the actual killer. It was thrilling to watch her dive headfirst into danger, completely unaware that her pursuit would put her directly in the killer's path.
Honestly, it is a brilliant crime thriller that will keep you guessing. Highly recommended!

Following another brilliant and action-packed investigation, we follow Nikki and the team throughout another local case. And yet again, you can't trust anybody.
I've been reading these characters for so long now that they really feel like family. Which is why I'm still waiting for Nikki to take a break from work, and I think we are almost there now! It's great that Green allows you to invest in these characters so much, as we can easily see the balance between home and work.
At less than 300 pages and with quick-moving short chapters, this is an easy book to fly through, which is always a bonus for me. They're easily addictive, and it will always be a series I look forward to picking up. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Where She Rests (Nikki Hunt Book 12) by Stacy Green is another tightly woven FBI thriller that kept me guessing. Once started I could not put this book down, even reading while my husband drove us to a dinner party. Nikki’s brother-in-law’s girlfriend’s bakery is the scene of a shocking crime. As the suspects are eliminated one by one another murder is connected to the bakery murders. Just when a likely suspect is focused on a twisty turn happens so that the killer is a surprise to me.
I always enjoy revisiting the characters but the stress on Nikki and her family shows in this story, making it a realistic look at the toil that is taken on those in her career field. While there is empathy for the families who have lost loved ones to violent crimes, I felt for Nikki and fellow investigators too. A top-notch story that is a great addition to the series.

when nikkie gets the call she goes right away
the scene she sees isnt one she will ever forget... that it is also the business of someone she is close to is lost on her
two dead girls are in there.... and the whys just dont answer....
two teenage girls gunned down before their lives even started and so the investigation begins but how do you find someone who doesnt want to be found and the clues keep pointing in different directions
ohhh man this book.... i was glued and how it all came together for that ending.... wow you just never see it coming... what you think you know and what you actually know is all wrong.... ohhh man i l love this series

I love Special Agent Nikki Hunt. I enjoy the way that Stacy writes her character and how she integrates the FBI into the local police forces. This case hit too close to home for Nikki, the murders that open the story take place at a close friend’s bakery.
As the story unfolds more and more pieces come to light that are connected to the murders of the teenage girls. I thought I had the killer pegged, but that pick was just too easy. The last half of the story has a lot of twists that made it hard for me to put the book down and do adult things like go to work.
Nikki and Liam are great partners. You can clearly see how close they are and how well they know each other, and how much they mean to each other. I hope Stacy has more stories planned for them.
