Sienna Mercer grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was an only child, and always wanted a brother or sister – especially a twin. A twin would have been awesome! Sadly, she never got that sister so, when she was grown up, she did the next best thing - she wrote books about a girl who reminded her of herself, and gave her the most fun, fabulous twin she could think of!

Sienna began writing stories when she was a teenager, on a very wet day in Toronto when her cheerleading practice was cancelled - and she has not stopped writing since. She used to write in red leather notebooks while sat on her bed, but now does most of her writing in her attic, which is quite dark, and has some spooky cobwebs in the corners - the perfect location for thinking about vampires. She doesn't use red notebooks anymore, either, although she keeps them in a chest by her desk in the attic.

Sienna got the idea for My Sister the Vampire from a daydream she had - what if she had a super-cool twin sister... who was a vampire? She loved the characters - and their kooky friends and family - so much that she just had to keep writing about them.

When she's not daydreaming about vampires and cheerleading, Sienna enjoys travelling and exploring new cities, and keeps a detailed scrapbook of everywhere she’s visited. She lives in Toronto, kept company by Calypso and Angel – her two gorgeous cats. She is happily writing away and we wait for her upcoming books!

This was my least favourite in the series ☹️ there just wasn’t a lot going on and I felt like I was missing those character moments and interactions that had me smiling.

This is a funny, super-girly story with a vampire bite to it. When a Hollywood strike puts Olivia’s movie aspirations on hold, she distracts herself from thoughts of her long-distance actor boyfriend Jackson by throwing herself into organisation of the school dance. Little does she know, her twin Ivy is keeping a secret from her: she’s off to The Wallachia Academy, the finishing school for vampires. When the surprise wedding announcement of Prince Alex and Tessa comes, the truth is out. But Olivia misunderstands…Ivy will just be gone for the summer, right? Wrong. Life’s changing, and for the first time since they discovered each other, the twins are going to be apart…Sink your teeth into Olivia and Ivy’s ninth fright-time adventure.” (Amazon.com)

I HAVE SERIOUSLY MISSED SO MUCH!

To my readers who do not know what has happened: please read my Book #10 review above.
The beauty about this book series though is that Sienna Mercer mentions some parts of what you have missed in the other books (but only some). I am seriously heartbroken that I didnt read the book series straight but I am VERY thankful to Angela Myrick for sending me a link to download this book.
I love it that Olivia and Ivy still go to Aunt Rebecca’s and bring along everyone else. I literally laughed when Aunt Rebecca danced with an unexpected someone that I wont mention (forgive me, for I have an anti-spoil rule). I wasnt shocked at Charles Vega’s surprise for Ivy and Olivia because I read the 10th and 11th book before this one. I knew I should’ve waited.

I also loved Olivia, Ivy and Brendan as a team. Although it was a short scene I really enjoyed reading it. It gave a sort of spark to each characters personality.
So this is why that couple that I liked broke up in the following book (#10). When I read Date With Destiny I had no idea why they broke up and I was waiting for this moment - the moment of truth! Now I understand why you were so brokenhearted in book 10 and 11. Now I understand you better.
I am truly amazed on Brendan’s reaction to Ivy maybe studying in a different country. He truly is the best boyfriend ever. I want a Brendan.
I do not like how Ivy keeps saying that if ever she will go to Wallachia Academy she would miss Olivia and Brendan the most. What about your bestfriend Sophia? I’m truly disappointed that Sophia’s character had a less important role on Ivy’s life lately. I really really miss Sophia. I really really miss Sophia and Ivy.
I cant wait for the 12th book to be published. I really cant. I wanna read it already. Please let it come early. I’m desperate.

I picked up the ninth book in this series for my fourth grade daughter because it's one of those stories, she keeps returning to in between her other reads. The cover has been changed in the U.S. version to the one here on the right. The U.K. cover is the one pictured above (along with the different name, Twin Spins). I point this out, because in preparing the review for this book, it appears that it may be tricky to find; I'm not sure if it's being re-packaged by Scholastic or by Harper Collins (the original U.S. publisher). Either way, the amazon link I posted above has used copies available.

In this installment the girls are in danger of being separated into different schools while Olivia is in charge of an upcoming dance. The bullies take control of the dance when Olivia skips a meeting because of a family vacation and they ban goths from attending the dance.

Olivia and Ivy find a compromise suggested from a surprising source. And the all pink decor for the dance gets turned into something that even goths would respect.

This series surprised both my daughter and myself with a twist we didn't see coming. A good story about inclusion and standing up for yourself. We both hope the series will continue with more installments.

why's there so much inconsistency with Olivia's eye color 😭 why were they described as green for a split second, then back to blue? also why can't they just say no thanks to garlic bread? and how old were Alex and Tessa that they can get married??? something about the narration of this book sounded a little different to me for some reason..... ivy used to love her skirts and dresses and stuff, whys she suddenly saying she likes jeans? just like how she's suddenly saying she hates lovey dovey stuff when for the previous 8 books her and Brendan were completely head over? I'm kinda confused about the sudden character changes....

10th Book of 2018

And so concludes my re-reading of this series.

This was the last book I got to before I stopped buying them back in middle school, and though I still want to read the next ones to see if the series improves, this one is sort of… boring, honestly. It centers around deciding a theme for a dance and Ivy maybe having to go to boarding school. That's about it; I've already forgotten much of it around just a week later.

It's too bad, because this series has (or had) a lot of potential, it's just starting to lose steam.

There was a lot more personality in this book than the previous one! Sure the goth/preppy war that's always going on is annoying, but the characters had emotions and motivations and personal conflicts. The story wasn't so bad either!

Solid book in the series, with some interesting storylines explored. My one issue with it is that the Jackson/Olivia storyline was basically a rehash of what happened in Love Bites, and felt very artificial. I don't know why the characters did what they did except to build suspense up to the conclusion. A little frustrating, but that pales in comparison to the happiness this book radiates. Overall, super enjoyable!

Olivia getting the full actor treatment so early in her career with the long distance boyfriend and actor strikes, truly getting the full experience !! Reflecting on it now, that sentence is really ironic. Also, I feel like Ivy finally got her time to shine (and not in the Edward Cullen way) in this one at last !! Yes queen follow your heart, go to vampire school !
