I thoroughly enjoyed this debut Romantasy. When I saw that this book felt like Bridgerton meets Beauty and the Beast, but with some deathly trials, I immediately said YES! And as I consumed this book, I will say whole-heartedly that it was appropriately marketed. My heart has always been drawn to the Regency era (for reasons still unknown to me); and this fulfilled that part of my heart and soul that loves this era. The magic, the gothic vibes... the 'whodunnit' that had the group chat for the ARC spiraling; I ate this up. So, if you are anything like me: loves the historical pomp and circumstance; envisioned herself as Belle in B&B, drawn to the morally grey MMC, and loves a slow-burn.... PICK THIS UP NOW.
Pacts of the Devine was such an enthralling story. Liv had powers that she was never meant to have. with these powers came so many obstacles she endured to survive. Lavinia suffered loss, abandonment, and fear. she felt betrayed by her parents not knowing she was given to Ezra due to a pack that both of their fathers had made to get her magic. At first, I was not a fan of Ezra he was mean. Cold. and just plain arrogant. But when I say that he went to the ends of the earth to keep his soul-bound love safe, He did. There were so many ups and down in this story. I laughed and ugly cried in this book.
I will say that this book is going on my top 10 favorite reads for this year. I'm impatiently waiting for book 2...
This book was so good, between the emotional intensity and impact at every corner and the character descriptions being so in depth I was enthralled with this the second I read the prologue. The character depth, the world descriptions, the plotline, will have you hooked so quick. I cannot wait for the next book to be out!
The book was seriously hard to put down!! There are so many little details that play a huge part in the story and some that still need to be answered. Im already excited for the 2nd book!!! I can't wait to read more!
Pacts of the Divine was submitted to my Indie FANTASY TBR. And honestly had I not had a Romance TBR to transfer this to I might have DNF'd, I considered it a handful of times in the first 50% of the Pacts of the Divine, purely because I was not looking for a romance on this TBR that it was submitted to and I am very clear about this in the signup form. But I do like a good romance and a strong female lead, so I pushed through. That being said. 2.5 for the fantasy, 3.75 rounded up to 4 for the Romance novel I read. Granted the Fantasy aspects get much better after the 50% when we aren't worried about the romance, which at times felt forced and I get soul bonds but like why? There didn't seem to be much between them beyond that spark. And honestly reading a story about Liv, Hell, and Clarissa would have been an amazing book. And I am hoping book 2 to is more of this as it has set up for. I loved the tangled web of magic being inherited and that it is only supposed to be controlled by certain people. The book has themes of religious persecution faced by women, wrapped in a fantasy mask. I liked that both main characters grew and evolved through the story, both making the hard choices over picking each other. i really did appreciate the strong ending and as I said I hope we get more of the power struggle in book 2 instead of the romance.
I was instantly captivated with this story from the first page. Everything was created with vivid details and intricate, lush storytelling. I loved the plot, story-building, and character development first of all. The plot was my definition of perfect since it implemented all of my favorites, such as regency vibes, gothic romantasy. unique power systems, and so much more! Furthermore, the author paints a perfect picture with her meticulous and detailed prose. I felt like I was experiencing the events for myself. To add, I felt numerous emotions throughout this book. The author did a great job portraying the character's personalities/characteristics as well as making intense feelings come to life!
I definitely recommend this book for Bridgerton lovers who want a sprinkle of dark/gothic romance!
If you’re a fan of Bridgerton with dark romantasy vibes, unique magic, ruthless trials to survive, dual POVs, with a very sassy FMC, Liv aka Stellina, and a dark MMC, Ezra, who slowly steals your heart 🔥😍and will do whatever it takes to keep Stellina safe 🤩 this book is for you.
L. Delaire puts so much effort into character development that every character feels like you actually know them. One character “C” and a spider 🕷️🥺 will have you in a complete chokehold. And there are several characters you’ll LOVE to hate 🤭
The magic system is unique and is inherited only by those deemed worthy, while forbidden to others who should never possess it.
Highly recommend! L.Delaire, bring on Book 2 ~ The Diviners Series! 🔥 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hands down one of my best reads of 2026! This is a Regency era gothic romantasy! I DEVOURED this book! I was BLESSED to be allowed to arc read on this book, and i am so grateful! I LOVE the characters (except one for obvious reasons when you read it) and I love the subtle foreshadowing of the book! The ending?? Think emotional devastation in the BEST way! The kind that will have you ranting to your entire family like I did! What are you waiting for, little star? 🌟 (that will make sense once you read it 🥰)
Love love loved this book! Was honored to be allowed to read as an e-Arc copy and loved every second of it! If you love a good enemies to lovers moment with some plots twists and intrigue, this is the book for you!
GREAT ROMANTACY READ THAT IS HEAVIER ON THE FANTASY SIDE. LOST OF ACTION, SUSPENSE AND SOME TWISTS AND TURNS. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF THE DIVINERS SERIES.
