As someone who reads a LOT of books, Missing Ivy is definitely in my top 10 of the year! From the beginning, you’re immersed into a world of dimensional characters, romantic tension (big fan of), and a mystery that makes it nearly impossible to put the book down. Nick and Maria do such a fantastic job of making the reader feel like they’re living in the pages with these characters. You know a book is good when you can really feel the emotions that the characters are experiencing! I loved the complexity of Ella and Nathan’s relationship, and how it evolved throughout the story. You’ll laugh, cry, and even get frustrated at times for these characters, but in the end you won’t regret reading Missing Ivy!!

A great thriller/drama/romance. The pace of the story hooks you in, and it never slows down. The characters are well written, and the romance of it all didn’t seem too cheesy, so I liked this book. Way more than I thought I would, in fact.

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read and I love to read. You feel EVERY different emotion these characters are feeling. I laughed. I cried. Sadness. Happiness. Frustration. Humor. Anxiety. Anticipation. Smiles. Thrill. Goosebumps. Excitement. You get so hooked and pulled into this story that you feel like you’re a part of it. Your heart becomes these people. Thank you Nick and Maria. I’ll be reading your next book as soon as it comes out. Missing Ivy goes into my list of favorite books and I’ll definitely read it again!!!

Hold up. This is a debut romance? A DEBUT?? Sorry for screaming, but, oh my freaking holy wow! This reads like a comfortable, relaxed, seasoned romance with perfect little pops of irreverence, and it had me gobbling it up in one sitting and hanging on every word.
The storyline, the pacing, the character arcs, the drama and suspense, the emotional depth. I can’t believe this isn’t something from an author duo with twenty romances under their belt. That it's a husband and wife team makes it even sweeter, and the pieces of themselves they leave on the page shine through.
It's honest and authentic. Both Nathan and Ella are so relatable – two flawed humans with layers and vulnerabilities who life has knocked over, but they keep showing up. And giving us two very realistic but different responses to life's challenges – a vital reminder that dealing with trauma and grief is an individual process. The fictional world is full and vibrant, and the secondary characters add life and depth.
This is a story that didn’t try too hard but then met and exceeded all possible expectations. And the tight writing usually lacking in a new storyteller with something to prove made it feel like this read itself. It made my brain immensely happy and left my heart with a satisfied sigh. I'll be eagerly awaiting more while you do yourself a favor and escape into this phenomenal romantic suspense.

I enjoyed the book so much!!!
It got delivered in the evening and I finished it at 2:44 AM because I just couldn't stop reading!
I loved ALL the characters. I can't even decide who's my favorite and I felt SO many emotions throughout the book! There were so many lines and deeper meanings that are still stuck with me, and I love that.
When a story stays with you even after you've finished reading, you know it was REALLY good.
The story touched me in so many different ways
and while reading it, I actually felt something in my chest and stomach. I laughed, shed some tears and felt completely immersed in the story.
The book really captivated me!
Also you could feel how much heart and passion went into the story and the book overall.
Besides that I just LOVED the way Maria and Nick wrote it!!! They created something so amazing, so special, so great and so beautiful, I honestly have no words for that.
They were made to be authors!

FIRST OFF (and most importantly)…I am NOT an arc reader. 📕
I wasn’t given a free copy to read and review. I’m just an avid reader of books. And this just so happened to be my 170th (finished) book of the year. I’ve read some really great books this year…and some REALLY terrible ones too. I’ve even DNF more than usual because let’s be honest…our time is not infinite and who wants to waste it on crappy books.
I organically stumbled upon Missing Ivy from a random doom scroll moment on Facebook stories/clips/videos or whatever they’re called. Or maybe it was instagram? Ok I digressed…anyways on a whim I purchased both book and audiobook. I’m an immersive reader and like to read and listen. Sometimes just listen when I can’t read. And sometimes read when I can’t listen.
I was pleasantly surprised 🙌🏼 by how well written this book was for these authors first book release. The story kept my attention and I genuinely wanted to keep turning pages (or technically swiping right on my kindle 🤪). Is it the best thing I’ve ever read? No. Wasn’t it the worst? Absolutely not. It was just a nice SOLID read. And let’s be honest, as readers that is what we truly ask of authors. Just give us a good story. Make us leave reality behind for just a little while and immerse us in the art of storytelling. This couple (the authors) delivered on that and for me, that was perfect.
My feedback…only because feedback is how we grow….is as follows:
1. This was likely intentional by the author, but I would have loved more from the s3x scenes. Do I need it to always be a porno on page, no. But there is a classy way to write these scenes that helps build more intimacy between the characters on the page. I just needed a little bit more from both of them to feel like they had a true emotion connection. It would have helped readers to not feel like Ella was so one-sidedly obsessed. Plus I typically avoid YA novels and this one just really didn’t feel like it belonged in the YA category where I would relegate this to.
2. Minor comment….i would have like an explanation as to why Ella didn’t go directly to the police, even after it was questioned why she hadn’t/should have. Maybe it’s self-explanatory, but I would have appreciated that answered on the page. And although we know where Ella met (and technically saved) Maddison, it would have been nice for that to be have been disclosed out in the open to Nathan and Maddison in some way.
3. I wish it was more clear how much time Ella spent in Africa. It felt a bit rushed from Nathan saying he wasn’t ready for a relationship, to her getting back and declaring his love.
4. I definitely wanted more from the epilogue (because I was invested in the character’s happiness). Maybe we will get more on Nathan & Ella’s future together in book 2, but I’d love to know more of what that looked like with Ivy.
5. Final feedback (audiobook related). I LOVED 💞 that they narrated their own book. HUGE props for pulling this off successfully. Only thing I would have liked to see is, if you’re going to make it like a graphic audiobook (with sound effects), then full on commit. We got a little taste of it and I was left wanting more. And I’d like just a bit more vocal inflection and emotion from Nick as a narrator. I didn’t hate it and it wasn’t like listening to popular narrators like Teddy Hamilton whose voice is like nails on a chalk board cringey to me. Nick’s voice is pleasant and I think with time, he’s going to get so much better.
Alright…that’s it! Thank you for writing such a wonderful book. Seriously, y’all should be so freaking proud of yourself. I wish y’all all the success and I will happily read your next book!

MISSING IVY by Nick & Maria Bateman really surprised me, especially as a debut novel. The beginning was a bit slower, but it definitely made me curious. Around the 40–50% mark it became SO addicting. I almost finished the rest in one sitting because I just needed answers. I wanted to know what had happened and how everyone ended up where they were.
I do feel like I probably missed some hints along the way, but maybe that's all part of the setup for the next book, which already sounds really interesting.
I personally wished there was a bit more connection between the characters, as I wanted to feel even more invested in them. But Nathan's character development and emotional journey were honestly beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. His growth was definitely one of my favourite parts of the story.
Overall, this was a really strong debut, and I'm excited to see where the authors take the series next.

ARC Review for Book Sirens
I am going to say 3.5 starts for this one. I am torn on this review. I believe these authors have great potential but this one missed the mark a bit. I feel like nothing happened until 60% in and then the rest of the book felt so rushed.
There were also quite a few moments where I wasn’t exactly clear what has happening between the main characters. You don’t have to go into graphic details but the scenes involving intimacy between the main characters are rushed and confusing.
I would love a little more depth to the story. The concept is great. This storyline and characters are very interesting. I will give them another chance with Bishop’s book.

A Beautiful, Heart-Wrenching Story That Had Me Crying and Thinking About It Long After I Finished
Missing Ivy is an emotional and engaging novel that kept me invested from beginning to end. Nick and Maria does an excellent job creating characters that feel realistic and relatable, making it easy to connect with their struggles, emotions, and personal growth throughout the story.
One of the strongest aspects of the book is the balance between suspense and emotion. The story unfolds at a steady pace, revealing just enough to keep readers curious without feeling rushed. I appreciated how the author explored themes of love, trust, resilience, and healing in a way that felt genuine rather than forced.
The writing style is immersive and easy to follow, drawing me into the story from the very first pages. What stood out most to me was the emotional depth of the characters and the situations they faced. There were several moments that hit me hard emotionally, and I found myself tearing up more than once. Few books can make me cry, but this one definitely did. Missing Ivy took me on an emotional journey I wasn't expecting. At first, I found myself frustrated with Nathan and questioning many of his decisions, but as the story unfolded and more pieces of his past were revealed, I realized how carefully everything had been written. I formed theories, changed my mind more than once, and became completely invested in the mystery. By the final chapters I wasn't just reading a mystery—I was hoping with the characters. The ending left me with a full heart, and I'm already looking forward to Book Two. Thank you for creating a story that reminded me why I fell in love with reading in the first place.

Nathan Reign lost someone special to him three years ago with no resolve on what happened. He is currently just living through the tasks of the day with few connections to the world around him. Ella lives in the same building as Nathan and always wondered about the recluse handsome man living there. When someone seems to be following her one night Nathan goes from observer to something else but is conflicted on his feelings. I don’t want to say much more as this is better going in blind. I will say this is a story about healing & finding yourself again after grief interwoven with a slowly building mystery. A very enjoyable and at times touching story. Told in first person and dual POV.

If you are looking for a book that will lock you in and have you cancelling plans just to finish it, this is it! I haven't enjoyed a book this much since the Housemaid & Verity! Missing Ivy is a gripping, page-turning thriller that captivates you from the very first chapter. What really impressed me was the characters are wonderfully complex (SO realistic) ,and while the book tackles heavy themes of grief and loss, it amazingly managed to remain lighthearted, whimsical, and fun throughout. Plus, that plot twist was not obvious at all, totally caught me off guard. Highly recommend. What an impressive debute for Nick and Maria. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series. Clear your schedule before you open this one!

A really good first in a series (to come) of stories. The characters are believable and engaging. The relationship between Ella and Ashton is one everyone would like to have. Nathan and Bishop are great life-long friends with a healthy relationship. The suspense builds slowly and isn't trite or kitschy when resolved. Overall this a great lead with lots of layers. Highly recommended.

Dude! I felt so frustrated for Nathan!! I was like come on just show her a little more attention! Why are you kind of stand off 'ish'?! Every time you thought you get a little insight to why he was the way he was, nothing. Teasers! I tell you. I get it though. Thats the way the character was going. In the end everything worked out the way it was suppose to. Beautifully written, great plot, awesome characters with some witty one liners. Definitely 5 star read. Would love to see whats next.

Missing Ivy is one of the best books I have read! It is a great mix of suspense, mystery and romance and each page will have you hooked and captivated to find out more about Nathan and Ella. Maria and Nick's writing style gives so much depth to the characters, that you are able to feel their emotions which creates a real connectiveness. It is a book you will not want to stop reading and when you are done it will leave you wanting more!

As an avid reader I can definitely say this one kept me wanting more! You can’t help loving each character and their development throughout the story. Suspenseful, sexy, fun, emotional and beautiful Missing Ivy is one of my favourite books I’ve read this year!

Wow! All the feels with this one. A romantic thriller/suspense/mystery.
This book drew me in and never let go. 75% in, I had goosebumps and my heart was beating so fast. I was so invested. Some heavy topics and character growth really set the pace.

This book definitely kept my attention, and the audiobook was entertaining enough that I wanted to keep listening to find out what happened. I could have done without the random sound effects though.
My biggest issue was that it felt like I was reading two completely different books. Ella’s chapters had the feel of a light rom-com, while Nathan’s chapters were much more mystery/suspense. The shift between the two was a little jarring and made the overall tone feel inconsistent.
I also didn’t buy into Nathan and Ella’s relationship. It felt like they went from barely exchanging seven words to constantly making out, without much development in between. Because their relationship lacked a strong foundation, it was hard to root for them as a couple.
Finally, I felt there were some plot holes throughout the book. I liked the structure of Nathan reliving his past relationship, but I felt like we never really got the full story of him and Madison.
Overall, I enjoyed the ride and was entertained throughout, but the uneven tone, underdeveloped romance, and lingering plot holes kept this from being more than a 3-star read for me.

I don't remember the last time a debut novel pulled me in this quickly!
I picked up Missing Ivy expecting a good romantic suspense, but what I got was a story that completely surprised me. It's one of those books where you tell yourself you'll read one more chapter... and then suddenly it's 2 in the morning
What really sets this book apart is the characters. Nathan isn't your typical romance hero. He's layered, guarded, and carrying the kind of emotional weight that makes every decision he makes feel believable. I loved that the authors touched on men's mental health in a way that felt honest instead of forced. It wasn't there to make a statement… it simply made Nathan feel real, and it made me root for him even more.
And Ella was exactly the kind of FMC I enjoy reading. She's compassionate without being naive, strong without trying too hard, and her chemistry with Nathan builds naturally instead of relying on instant attraction. Watching the walls between them slowly come down was just as satisfying as watching the mystery unfold.
What I appreciated most, though, was the balance. This book never forgets it's meant to be entertaining. The romance makes you smile, the mystery keeps you turning pages, the emotional moments feel earned, and before you know it you've become invested in these people's lives.

One of the things that impressed me most about Missing Ivy was how intentional everything felt. So many moments that seem small at first clearly serve a bigger purpose, and by the end it became obvious this isn't just one story, it's the beginning of a much larger world.

I'm sure I missed plenty of Easter eggs on my first read, and that actually makes me excited to go back because it feels like there's even more hidden beneath the surface.

What I loved was that Ella didn't magically fix him. Instead, her warmth, optimism, and lightness slowly chipped away at the walls he'd built around himself, and watching that unfold felt very real.
There were also moments that made me laugh out loud one of my favs was the "Hakuna My Tatas" moment. It was such a fun break from some of the heavier moments and made the characters feel like real people.
The mystery surrounding Nathan kept me hooked the entire time. Every time I thought I had figured something out, something would send me in a different direction. I found myself reading "just one more chapter" over and over until suddenly it was way past my bedtime.

Wow. What a debut! This story is really well written and by the end mashes you want to hold your babies tight to your chest. Any book that makes you feel that kind of emotion deserves praise. Ella was such a great heroine. Being there when Nathan needed her. Believing in him when anyone else would’ve given up. Nathan was such a puzzle. For the longest time we didn’t know why he was so closed off and secretive. Once we find out it makes so much sense why he acts the way he does. He’s very sweet and romantic when he wants to be.
A couple things I wanted more of. I wanted more of Ella and Nathan together. There was so much dancing around each other and I wanted more of them together being in each other’s space and getting to know each other more. I wanted a scene that explained more of what happened to him and Maddison in the past and how they broke up. And I would’ve liked more of Ivy and Ella together getting to know each other. The ending felt a bit rushed because I felt like we got what we wanted and now we have to tie it all up in a bow. In a book you get to drag that out a little longer. A Romance Novel That Even Non-Romance Readers Will Appreciate
I don’t normally read romance novels. As a guy, it’s not usually a genre I gravitate toward, but Missing Ivy completely surprised me.
What stood out most was the relationship between Nathan and Ella. Nathan is a genuinely good person carrying the weight of significant trauma, while Ella represents hope, compassion, and the ability to see the good in people even when they struggle to see it in themselves. Their dynamic feels like a true yin and yang, in a way that feels authentic, not forced.
The pacing is excellent. The story never drags, and the suspense elements keep the pages turning while the emotional depth keeps you invested in the characters. As a man, I found myself relating to Nathan’s internal battles and many of the difficult decisions he had to make throughout the story. His character felt real, flawed, and human.
Whether you’re a regular romance reader or someone like me who rarely picks up books in this genre, Missing Ivy is well worth your time. It’s an engaging, emotional, and suspenseful read that stays with you long after you’ve finished the last chapter.

Missing Ivy is one of those books that once you pick it up, you really don't want to put it down (even if life makes you!). As someone who reads a lot of books, one would be hard pressed to think this is the debut novel for Nick and Maria Bateman. It is one of the best books I've read so far this year.

Missing Ivy was a sweet story, and I enjoyed the somewhat happy ending. It’s a closed-door romance with no spice, and I think that aspect was well done.
However, I felt the transitions were somewhat abrupt and left plot gaps. At times, the story seemed to jump from place to place, leaving holes in the narrative. I also felt Ella was a little too nice to Nathan—lol. She gave him too many chances. The ending also felt abrupt and suffered from the same issue, leaving a few loose ends.
Overall, this wasn’t a bad debut for first-time authors. There’s definitely room for improvement, but I can see the potential.
