I got the opportunity to get this book in advanced as and ARC reader. If you want a short but great read for a romance story with some suspense this is your book. It deals with mafia connections and bodyguard protection where he falls for the girl he’s trying to protect. This book has no smut or spice but there doesn’t really need to be any because the love tension is strong enough. There were some twists that I thought were really good and made me want more. This book gives you that HEA we all want.
Meda by Lantana Lyman is Book 2 in her Mafia Myths Series!!
I instantly feel in love with the cover of this ARC ❤️🤣👀 This book contains graphic scenes, mentions of SA, gore, torture, and death. Please take care of your mental health first.
Meda opens instantly to a description based around the FMC Meda and her hired bodyguard macho protector Percy (that name always reminds me of Percy pig, okay random thought moving on 👀🤣), and now as we enter the story, I'm left wondering from the description are we dealing with anxiety ridden ptsd fmc? Lol 👀 or is she under control?
I liked the fact we are instantly introduced to Sol, clearly someone who means alot to Meda from how their relationship is described early on. Damn, I didn't release how much I've missed Sol & Icarus until starting Meda 😱😮💨😭 *makes a note to go reread Icarus again* 👀🤣
"Man mountain" had me cackling laughing 🤣🤣 I also loved this description off one of the characters "A phantom in the machine." Like damnnn! I loved the first chapter from Percy's POV where he has acknowledged his nervousness around Meda. Omggg "not fixed, but less hollow." Lantana, are you trying to emotionally scar me for life?!
Howww did I go from 10 to 80% so fast. Omg. This book is just 👌🥵😮💨.. so much action, twists, turns & some shed tears 👀.
I absolutely love Percy omg ❤️, just ugh 👌. Ding a fucking ring a ling.... Percy offt, all hail king Percy. That was such an epic scene and the "didnt know she was what, human?" Pahhhhhhahahahahahaa I cackled and kicked my feet "And God help anyone who stood between me and the end of this." Holy 😬🥵😱 Percy is just as perfect as Icarus OH MY GAWDDDD... he...but she...but then he... they... 😱🥵 omg. 👀. Offft. Woooo Icarus & Percy are forever going to be my MVP'S!! Omg, I need more of Meda & Percy like STAT. OFFTY.

This book is quiet, protective, emotionally intense, and SO much softer than I expected in the best way 🖤👀
Traumatized FMC. Stoic bodyguard MMC. Forced proximity wrapped in danger and healing??
Yeah… this completely pulled me in.
What really stood out to me is how much emotional weight the story carries from the very beginning. Meda isn’t just recovering physically—she’s trying to exist in a world that no longer feels safe, and the fear and hypervigilance after what she survived felt heartbreakingly real.
And honestly?? Watching her slowly reclaim pieces of herself was one of the strongest parts of the book.
Then there’s Percy 👀🔥
The “Man of Stone” nickname fits him PERFECTLY.
He’s quiet, controlled, emotionally closed off, and so deeply used to existing in the background that he almost feels more like a weapon than a person at first.
But the more time he spends with Meda?? The more those walls start cracking.
And THAT is where this book absolutely got me emotionally.
Because Percy’s care isn’t loud. It’s in the watching. The patience. The constant presence. The way he protects her without forcing her, pushes without pressuring, and slowly becomes the safest thing in her world.
The chemistry between them builds beautifully because it’s rooted in trust and emotional safety before anything else. Every softer moment feels earned.
I also loved the atmosphere throughout the story. There’s this lingering tension underneath everything because the danger never fully disappears, which keeps the emotional connection feeling fragile and precious at the same time.
✨ If you love: • protective bodyguard MMCs • emotionally guarded heroes • healing after trauma • quiet, slow-burn romance • mafia romance with emotional depth
This one is tender, intense, and deeply emotional in all the quietest ways 🖤✨
I went into Meda not really knowing what to expect, and wow....this book completely pulled me in. It has such a haunting, emotional atmosphere that sticks with you long after you finish the last page. Lantana Lyman writes in a way that feels raw and immersive, and I found myself attached to the characters almost immediately.
What I loved most was how layered the story felt. It’s dark, intense, and emotional without ever feeling overdone. The tension builds so naturally, and there were multiple moments where I genuinely had to stop and process what just happened. The relationships, the secrets, the emotional struggles — everything felt very real and human.
The writing style is beautiful too. It’s the kind of book that feels atmospheric in the best way, where every scene paints such a vivid picture in your head. If you love stories with emotional depth, complicated characters, and a slightly haunting vibe, this is absolutely worth reading.
Definitely one of those books that leaves you thinking about it for days after finishing.
✨My Rating: 4.5⭐️ 2🌶️
✨Tropes: 🖤 Dark 🔥 Slow burn 🤐 Secrets & lies 🩹 Emotional trauma/healing 💍 Obsessive love 😭 Angst
This is such a great short story revolving around Meda and Percy. Percy is hire as Meda's bodyguard until Daemon is found. This story gives you an insight into their relationship. Percy fell hard for Meda , knowing that she is not in any frame of mind to trust a male. Meda on the other hand realizes her brick wall is the only male who makes her want to trust. This is such a heartwarming story with no spice but there is death!!! and boy was that amazing... Percy actually kills for her.. I can't wait for more..
LOVED the relationship building. It definitely started as you showing Percy catch feelings, then telling us and flipped back to showing us their relationship unfolding. It was nice. I think that helped with the pacing as well. It had a nice, steady flow.
I’m personally questioning what’s wrong with me and why I got the heeby jeeby butterflies when Daemon was present. Lantana just knows how to write a villain.
