** Resounding Truth is number 2.5 in The Resounding Series, a novella to give the readers a glimpse into the world of the Resounding Lycans. The prequel that started it all will release late spring 2015 and kick off the 8 book (plus multiple novellas) series. ***
Derik has been the Alpha of the Graybacks since the death of Drucilia’s father, his murder still weighing heavy upon Dru. With fierce determination and an iron fist, the new Alpha has successfully kept them alive and fed, but the threat of Hunters and Vampires creeps ever so close. With his eye on Dru as a prime candidate for his mate, he demands more than she’s willing to give and blazes a trail of rage across the pack at her denial.
They have waited for a savior, for someone to come and take power from Derik and the time draws near. Dru’s sister Karis can see deep into the future and makes it known that a white wolf will be their redeemer, but will he be too late? With the Queen of the vampires thirsty for an accord in blood and the head Huntress of the Circle of Elders seeking the white wolf with fever, things get tense and complicated far before the resounding truth is uncovered.

This is listed as a novella #2.5 in a series so I guess some of my misgivings could be from not being familiar with the world. I’m not sure why I finished it as I did not like a lot of things about it. 1. What time period did this take place in? I understand they are basically nomads, but their clothing doesn’t say much for the time or the level of tech they had. In one section a character is wearing jeans, in other she talks of wearing dresses or “britches.” 2. Yes, I know this is a weird thing to fixate on, but the clothes thing bothers me. I understand their clothes don’t shift with them so there is a need to pay attention to them, but Dru really doesn’t care about clothing. Also, under garments are never mentioned, so, like, they always go commando and barefoot. She did mention something about wearing a white cotton dress, a blue cotton dress that comes to her knees, and then mentions wearing britches and laments the fact that she would like more “form fitting” clothes, but that takes money and time to go to a village and she doesn’t have that. 3. Their stuff, apparently things are magically moved from their old place to the new one that Seth had scouted. Lucky for them it got done because they had just been attacked that morning and bunches got hurt/killed. (sarcasm there btw) During the fight Dru makes mention of going into the tent that she shares with her sister ... then when they get there there is their tent again. Is it the same one or another? If it is another then what about the comment she had made about there not being many tents to go around and people started shacking up with others. 4. Their numbers/population—all I gathered was that there were a lot of older women and younger boys. In the beginning Seth makes mention that they brought back 20 stags or whatever. That is a butt load of meat so ... either there are a ton of people or their metabolism is in the omg range. Which brings up another issue I had with their tech, either they ate it all or there was some preserving going on somewhere in the background out of Dru’s perception range or something. 5. Villages, okay everything is a village and apparently there is usually one kinda close to wherever they set up camp. I say that because it is mentioned about the males going off to a village to work on their “urges” and the geography is really very vague. What I got from it was they all live in a forest with lots of villages everywhere ... and their new camp was between “hunters” and “vampires.” That doesn’t tell me much.... 6. Double standard bull****—the main scene I think of about this is where Derik has a hissy fit when Dru sleeps with someone else as he has said that she is his mate. Said as in there was never a ceremony and she was never asked ... he just said it. So, he calls her a whore, a whore who committed infidelity. Okay, as far as I can tell she has slept with one person, besides her mate who recently died. It is mentioned a few times about how he will go off to a village to “relieve his needs” and in fact he had recently gone and done that before her tryst. 7. Which reminds me that the one love scene is ... well it was pretty short and vague with hazy metaphors. 8. It got wordy and overly descriptive in some places. The main thing that comes to mind is the scene with the vampires. Ooookay, the vampires are gorgeous, especially the queen, she is just beauteous. I just did a lot of mental head scratching while I was reading this. The story was compelling enough to keep me reading it, but I am not sure why since after thinking about it I found so many things that bothered me.
Finally, a new shifter series that I’d be happy to devour anytime! I’m a big fantasy reader, I love everything about vampires and werewolves, so when I learned about this novella, I told myself, I better read it or else.
Drucillia, fondly called Dru, was torn between the Alpha Derick and her mate Seth. Two brothers with opposing attitudes. One is loving but weak; the other protective but a bastard. A battle with the humans and Hunters cost the life of one of them, but a new white wolf appeared, hopefully, the one who would save her and her pack from an imminent danger. Her sister, Karis, has dreamed of this, that the white wolf would be their salvation, and that he would be her true mate. What with the vampires lurking and chasing them, how would Dru protect her sister, her heart, her sanity?
I’m very pleased to tell you guys that this had been a satisfying read. It’s full of action and drama, plus all the Alpha pheromones sizzling in this book had my head staggering for more. This is just a prequel to Kate Thomas’ upcoming Resounding series, and after reading this novella, I know the whole series would be a promising one. The writing was excellent and the storyline was heart-pounding. Right from the started, I rooted for Caleb, but knowing the twists and turns that’s bound to happen in the series, I know there's something or someone else out there who's gonna claim Dru for what she's worth. Plus, there's the shocking ending about the Huntress that really had me gawking. I honestly didn't expect that about her. Kate Thomas really kept me on the edge and I liked it a lot!
I just completed the book in one day and all I can say is wow! This is the first book I read by Kate ans I look forward to reading a lot more by her. This book has everything you could ask for in a good book, wolves, vamps and hunters and really great character. I fell love Dru she is very a strong and independent heroin and Caleb is absolutely wonderful, whereas Derick is just an ass, but I guess thats just part of his job. Thank you Beth Ann Miller and Kate Thomas for the copy of this book, I really appreciate it and all you authors do for us.
Brilliant! Loved this book, looking forward to reading more.
INITIAL THOUGHTS So as soon as I saw this one on Netgalley I requested it immediately! I've been looking out for another great shifter series, and I'm hoping this may be "it". What am I hoping for? Mmm something on par with Women Of The Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong, Jessica McClain Series by Amanda Carlson and/or the Holloway Pack Series by J.A. Belfield
REVIEW As I mentioned above I requested this one from Netgalley and was accepted quite quickly. I had been looking for another shifter series to read along with the other fantastic series I mentioned above. So the cover of this book shows a full moon, and those of us who read the shifter genre know that is very important to shifters. After reading the novella I would say the couple featured almost kissing on the cover, could be Drucilla and the current and sometimes quite sadistic Alpha of the Graybacks called Derik. Then again the male could fit the description of Caleb too. There is the werewolf howling at a full moon too, another regular theme for shifter books. The colours of the cover suggest it is all taking place at a dusk setting. Do I think this cover would make me pick the book up from a book store shelf? Yes, it shouts out that it's a shifter book, and I find the cover appealing enough that it would make me pick this one up to learn more. So I'll start with telling you a little about the Greyback pack. The Alpha is the rather sadistic man called Derik. Derik has grown up in the pack alongside the then Alpha's daughter Drucilla. Drucilla's father had originally planned for Derik to take over from him and be mated with Drucilla when the time came. However Derik killed Drucilla's father. There is some more "back story" hinted at. The circumstances surrounding the death of Drucilla's parents is one of the major reasons Drucilla hates Derik. Derik has so far rejected the idea of mating with anyone, never mind taking Drucilla as his mate. Instead Drucilla has a more friendship based relationship with Derik's younger brother. The pack is somewhat split in their feelings about Derik being Alpha. So it's with mixed feelings that they are considering moving their pack base. A scouting trip has been sent ahead to check out any potential dangers. Drucilla shares a tent with her young sister Karis. Karis if very special and both her and Drucilla are treasured by the pack. Karis has the "gift" of prophecy. She has recently had one of the prophetic dreams in which she saw a new Alpha appearing, who would become Drucilla's soul mate. When Karis tell's Druncilla about her dream it really strikes a chord with her because earlier that day whilst swimming in the nearby lake Drucilla caught a glimpse of an imposing white wolf. I could really go on and on about this novella. Though it's a novella, it covers so much, there's so much action, drama and little romance thrown in too. Caleb is a rarity, an Alpha travelling alone in a search for his soul mate. Caleb also has the gift of prophecy and has seen his "true mate" in his dreams. So it is no shock to him when he finds her, swimming in a lake. It takes his mate a little longer to accept the idea. Naturally Derik hates Caleb on sight and wants him to have nothing to do with him. Derik also notices the looks that Caleb is giving Drucilla. Drucilla's sister is kidnapped by vampire's, so the rumors of them being near the new werewolf settlement were true. It also seem's that Derik knows all about the vampires as he heads off to do a "deal" with them for the safe return of Karis. The head female vampire refuses to make a deal with Derik and makes her blood bond with Drucilla. Perhaps it's because of the vampires action, or the fact there's another Alpha male sniffing around Drucilla, as Derik has a change of heart and decides he may well take her as his mate after all. Drucilla is repulsed at the idea, unable to forgive him for the deaths of her parents. Who will Drucilla end up being with? Who is her true soul mate, Derike or Caleb? What will it mean for the pack? Is the pack in danger from the vampires, or is there a greater danger to fear? So did I enjoy the book? I loved it, the plot and characters pulled me in slowly and firmly held me there. The novella kept my attention throughout. I enjoyed the politics of two Alpha's being around each other, as well as the dangers of the Hunters and Vampires that await the pack. I also love a great kick butt female character and in this novella we have Drucilla and the early signs of another one in Karis. I also love the way the whole pack treasure Karis too even though some do not believe or find the fact that she can see the future scary. Would I recommend the book? I do recommend this novella yes! I love a great shifter series, and this definitely seems like a promising start to a prospectively brilliant series. Would I want to read more in this series? Yes please as soon as possible!! This series is securely added to my wishlist. Would I read other books by this author? I intend to. I'm already considering her Equilibrium Series.
I was given a copy of Resounding Truth by the author, Kate Thomas, in exchange for an honest review.
Derik abuses his power as Alpha every chance he gets, especially when it comes to his brother's mate Drucilia. At one time, Dru and Derik were slated to be mated, but Derik ruined that when he chose to challenge Dru's father for control of the pack and killed him. The need for food has necessitated a move, but hunters, and possibly vampires, in the woods has made the situation a bit more complicated. Vampires are things of legend for the pack, but Dru is on edge just the same. Will the white wolf that she keeps seeing be their savior, or will it mean downfall for the pack?
Although Resounding Truth is a novella, it reads more like a full sized novel. The author has done a great job of conveying both the characters and the world, which piqued my interest for future books by this author. The only thing that I did not particularly enjoy was the forcefulness in which the author pushes Alpha Derik's character. It seemed a little forced, as if she wanted to be certain that the reader got the point. As far as paranormal romance novels are concerned, this book meets all of the criteria. Although this is part of a series, in which I have read none before, I had no trouble picking up the action and getting into the story.
Resounding Truth (The Resounding Series) by Kate Thomas Drucilia’s father was killed by Derik, the current alpha of her pack. With hunters and vampires attaching the pack, Derik is seeking to make Dru his mate. While Dru is hoping her sister's visions of a white wolf coming to save them are true.
I read a lot of shape shifter novels, and this one had a refreshing feel. The plot was filled with detail and intrigue.
I enjoyed Dru as a heroine. She is brave and smart. She is a worthy alpha female who would be an asset to any pack. I would think it would be difficult to live with Derik as the alpha after he killed her father. I enjoy the chemistry between her and Caleb.
Caleb is a worthy alpha. I felt horrible that his pack was wiped out by vampires. I like the symbolism of Derik having a black coat and Caleb having a white coat to represent hope.
I enjoyed Kate Thomas’ writing style. It is easy to follow and visualize. I effortlessly read this book in one sitting. Resounding Truth is a great novella. I look forward to reading other books in the series.
Complimentary copy provided by author in exchange for an honest review.
Dru mated to to the Alpha's brother, Seth, so that she could get out of having to mate the man who killed her father. Now that Seth has also died there is nothing to stop her from being taken by the Alpha, except possibly the white wolf savior that her sister has seen in her dreams.
Another short story. At least this one gives us some closure on some questions. Not all questions mind you but some of them. We know who Dru ends up with, what happens to Derrik and Seth, and who the Huntress is. This is actually a decent short story instead of leaving the reader hanging it has a beginning, middle, and end.
A great story, gets right to the point, and the action doesn't stop. A smidgen on the tropey side, but in a good way. Loved the descriptions of people and places, and some unexpected twists kept me reading until the end. A little more PG than I was hoping, but overall a great quick read.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was really a nice break, because I am a big fan of paranormal books but don't get to read them often. In this story we are introduced to a Lycan clan run by the alpha, Derik. He is killed his predecessor, who also happens to be the female lead's father. To say this causes conflict between the two is understatement. Dru and Derik were supposed to be together to rule the Graybacks, but with Derik's ruthless ways and evil personality Dru does not want to let their mating happen.
One night while escaping for some time to herself, she see's a beautiful and mysterious white wolf. She has never seen him before but her sister has dreams that he is going to be the clan's savior. The mysterious white wolf, also and alpha, has been searching for his mate for years and believes that he has finally found her.
What can possibly go wrong with two alpha wolves in one place? What is Dru going to decide is the best way for her clan to move forward and be protected? And what of the new threats they encounter? Vampires and Hunters are all around them and possible pacts are about to forged.
This was a good intro and makes you look forward to the rest of the series. There is a lot of information to be had and a lot of pieces set into motion. But it makes you want to find out what becomes of the pact and the other characters you meet. It was a little on the mellow side for my taste, but no less interesting. I look forward to reading more about these paranormal women and where their world will take me.

Here's the start: Oho~ Well, well, well! This wasn’t half bad a read! I’m not sure if I’d ever get into this series (as in, actually want to pick up any more books and read them), but this book was a great introduction to the Resounding series, its characters, and world.
The ending kind of irked me a bit, but I have to remember it is a series and there needs to be some kind of hook to get you to want to read the next book. Sadly, I won’t be doing so, but it’s still a good hook regardless.
I think there’s a lot to work with here, in terms of story and plot, conflict, and all that… so I believe any follow-up books (and prior ones too) would be great reads...

ALSO! There’s a book tour and book giveaway going on until the 3rd, so go check them both out here.
Drucilia is worried about her pack and where Derik's leadership is taking them. She wants him gone but doesn't want to be alpha herself. When a white wolf comes along he may be the answer Dru needs. But in the meantime the pack is moving to a new location, which is apparently surrounded by vampires and hunters.
After reading this I think it rates more 2 Stars but I rounded up to 3 because it was fairly interesting and kept my attention. So we are told how strong Dru is and she might e the leader if something happens to Derik...but when it actually came to a fight she couldn't take him. Caleb is this crazy strong alpha that also has feelings...but when push came to shove he gave up very quickly. And I felt the thing with the vampires came out of nowhere and I kinda just finished it cuz I was so close to the end. Maybe if I had read any other books in this series I would have liked it more with some background.
Would Recommend It Drucilia is the daughter of the former Alpha of the Grayback wolf pack. She was raised to be mated to Derik, the current Alpha and the one that killed her father to get the position. Instead, Derik denied her as a mate, which was a good thing because even though he forces an attraction on her, she can't stand him and refuses to bow down to him. The only one she cares about protecting is her sister Karis. When a lone alpha appears as the pack is endangered, he just might be the alpha she's been waiting for.Even though she's a female, Dru is a total Alpha. While her sister is her top priority, she is dedicated to and worries about her pack. Even though this was a novella, I thought the author did an excellent job in giving a full story and creating a new world. The characters were pretty well developed.
I love to read paranormal books!! Kate Thomas did a great job with this book. Drusilla is a wolf with convictions, and loyalty. She loves her family with every fiber of her being and will do anything necessary to protect them. Derick rules his pack with an iron fist and no one tells him no. Caleb has lost everything and his whole pack but fate drives him on to find his true mate. And if that wasn't enough Kate throws in Hunters set on destroying all wolves and Vampires that also threaten the wolves existence. This author has a way of getting who her characters are cross to her readers that you feel like you know them on a intimate level. You find yourself fighting for those you love and hating the bad guys but understanding why they are that way. Absolutely a great read. I would recommend it to all my paranormal friends.
Resounding Truth is part of The Resounding Series. It was suggested by the author for me to read this short first.
Resounding Truth is the story of Lycans. Dru, the daughter of the previous Alpha of the pack, and her sister, Karis, hope for something more for their pack. The current Alpha, Derik, reigns in terror, but the pack remains loyal to their Alpha.
But Karis has had visions and Dru has had dreams of a redeeming Alpha that would be for the pack, and who would also be Dru's mate--the white wolf. Caleb comes onto the scene just about the time that Derik proclaims that Dru will be his mate.
Will the white wolf prevail or will Dru be stuck in a duteous position as her Alpha's mate?
Great story and very well written. I look forward to reading more of this series.
I was very intrigued by this story. I was eager to find out what ended up happening with the relationship with Dru and Derik. He was irritating and I have to say that I was eager for him to die. Perhaps it was wrong for me to feel that way, but I did. I loved the connection that she has with her dreams and her reality - especially when it came to the white wolf. A definite good read and I am looking forward to reading the others. A true 4 star rating from me!!
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review
I really enjoyed reading Resounding Truth. The story is about Drucilia. She was the daughter of the Alpha of Greybacks and promised to Derek. When Derek killed her father he renounced her and she mated with his brother Seth. Derek is a ruthless Alpha. While on a run, she notices a lone white wolf. Her sister Karis can see into the future and tells her the white wolf is her mate and their redeemer. I will say that Derek gets what he deserves in the end. I look forward to reading this series. I recommend this to anyone that enjoys paranormal romance.
This was a very good story. It was about a wolf pack and this one helped set it up to how there pack works. It was had a great story line to it. It was about family and mating which is always a great story. Caleb was the perfect mate. He is dominate but also very sympathetic to Dru's need. I love seeing a character putting his other half first. Great story and i am looking forward to read other books by this author and in this series.
A great shapeshifter book. Dru is a wolf and she despises her Alpha, Derik, though she has no choice but to obey him. Dru has good reason to despise him though. He killed her father, the previous Alpha. Caleb is a lone white wolf in search of a pack and wants to start one with Dru. When Dru's sister is taken by vampires Derik tries to make a deal with them in order to win favor with Dru. There will be a battle to the end between two for the control of the pack.
4.5* I really enjoyed this book by Kate Thomas. I love paranormal books and this one was great. Dru is a great character with great convictions. She loves her family and will do anything to protect them. There are many twists and turns towards the end and I can't wait to read how it all plays out in the future! I received a copy of this book from Hurricane Readers Review group and I also downloaded the FREE copy from Amazon,so should you!
It's been a while since I've read a shifter book, but I'm glad I've read this one. It's a quick read but that gives so much. I felt for all the characters and very unlike me, I did feel sympathy to the villan of the story. Though this can be read as a standalone, there are hints at other possible story arcs. I enjoyed the pace of the action, just the right amount for a story of this length. I'm glad I got me HEA
This is a story about Dru and her sister Kalis, who she had promised her parents she would take care of her. Roderick is the Alpha, but he had killed Dru's father to take over as alpha. This was a great story would recommend it as a good read. A lot does happen and a lot involved with a great story line.
What a wonderful introduction to a new world! I loved it! Kate Thomas is quickly becoming a new favorite paranormal romance author for me. She does very well with her writing and originality for her worlds. I can't wait to read more of her books.
They have waited for someone to come and take power from Derik and the time is coming close. Karis can see into the future and tells them that a white wolf will be their redeemer, but will he be too late?
I like the book but you have to go and read the book and see what you think about it and then say thank you to the person who worked hard on this book. So Thank you for letting me read this book. Thank you
This story was wonderful. I couldn't put the book down till I finished it. I love werewolf stories about love and romance. This was a great story for anyone who loves to read. No sex involved . Wonderful and cute
